Oh i buy those exact Banh pia cakes (pandan flavored, durian+sesame flavored) at a local Asian import grocery store owned by Vietnamese people. That's so exciting that they literally eat them in Vietnam!

Excellent series of your travels in the Mekong area. The wife (Ngoc) and myself totally enjoyed watching and wishing we were back in Vietnam. Last time we were there was in 1972 while I was in the USAF. You have brought back lots of great memories for both of us. The wife continues to prepare most of all the Vietnamese foods you have tasted. We are lucky to be near a large Vietnamese community here in Orange County CA where we can purchase all the Asian veggies and condiments. Cheers!
My family make Banh U every week. They sell it to the Vietnamese market in the States. It is very popular as a on the go food. Also it 2X the size, because America and it has the pork belly inside.

I've watched a lot of your videos and you inspired me to go visit the Southwest today before going back to the States soon. I haven't seen the Mekong Delta yet despite growing up in Vietnam. Could you share some of the restaurants/shops you went to? Like I want to see the coconut factory place you saw in Ben Tre but not sure where to go. Keep up the good work with your videos! Love them!
Dang that factory for banh pia! That is crazy! My favorite is the durian flavored one followed by the purple one (it's late so I forget the name but I think it's a root vegetable like a potato).

Sometime, literal translation doesn't work. Đậu xanh = mung beans and not green beans. Green beans are a whole different type of legumes. Mung beans are yellow with green skins. Perhaps, that's how it got its VNese name. I've enjoyed your videos & wish I too could be in VN to enjoy the abundance of delicious food & fresh produce. When I first watched your videos, I was hungry all the time. Now, I make sure I eat something before watching them. LOL, but it doesn't always help. You make them look so yummy!
