The fact that this grocery store has been an anchor to the community for so long and in an environment like this really shows us why it is so important to gain and earn trust in a community; this family owned business is a true and authentic example of that.

Hi Paolo. Great video as usual. Grandma and Great Grandma are so alike. The owner looked exhausted but was proud that his family is helping it run. I hope you have a great festive season. Bye from Vancouver 🇨🇦
A convenient store across the street from me has been run by a Korean couple for over a decade with occasional family members coming in to run the till for a few days. It was rare to not see either of them there for more than a few days. Variety and random, decent prices, while being a good place for those last second grabs, and they're great people. The wife also did tailoring jobs for people with a sewing table setup near the counter. During COVID she used a bit of the extra inflow of money (since the big chains were generally wiped out) to buy materials to make cloth masks, giving them out free to customers for a long while. She started a garden in the backlot of the store, and gave me a zucchini smiling happily in celebration of her garden's success. It's bitter sweet. I'll miss the interactions, but I'm glad they'll be able to relax, see, and be with their families more. Met the new owners today. They seem nice. Three guys and one apparently owns a restaurant or something nearby. Hopefully they keep up the positive reputation for the location.
Paolo.. Merry Christmas to you and your family. Thanks for your hard work making these great videos for all of us. Please tell the grandson if he wants to open a produce market then learn about all vegetables and fruits in season and off season. This will help him out greatly in understanding produce. I have over 10 years doing produce with Safeway here in the bay area. Thanks again!!
The dedication is superb. At first it looks tiring and all but when the customers came wow so these must be the main reasons to keep on going too. Customers appreciate them all. ❤❤❤ May they always have good health and more profit to keep everything intact. 🎉🎉🎉 Thanks again Pao for this inspiring video. I really enjoy these videos of behind the scenes at local businesses. That was priceless, the surprised look the grandmother gave her grandson who said he wants to run a grocery store when he grows up. 😊
I love neighborhood (family run) corner store be it grocery, conbini, etc etc. It warms my heart to see generations working there. When I was at Tsukiji fish market right before it closed down, I witnessed 4 generations of fishermen working at one of the stalls on the interior of the market. They had said that specific stall dates back nearly one hundred years and it was rare for the owner to sell the business to someone else that wasn't family. Love these videos. Thanks Paolo! 555!
That's a lot of work like the grandfather said, although I can't let to express how beautiful and unite this is family is. You can see by the look of the children and the family how happy they are and truly connected!

Hey Paolo, I love your videos! A topic I was thinking about (although may or may not work for a 'day in the life of' video) is how left-handed people get along in Japan. As a lefty myself, most people fail to notice just how the world is SO right-handed oriented. But with Japan and its traditions, conformity, and especially the writing style (which almost requires you to be right-handed to get the strokes correct), it is just something I'd be fascinated to see.
I love this! Such a candid look into a small business and the family behind it. It's so nice the great grandchildren want to help, they certainly need all those hands. It looks like exhausting work but their reward is the connection to the community and to their family members. This was wonderful, thank you for making this!
We have lost so many of these kinds of places to Wal Mart and other mega chains. Neighborhoods have lost their sense of community because of it. I currently live a very small town in TN. We still have a small grocery and many of the workers have been here for decades. But it keeps getting harder for them to stay open.
Great to be back again! Hope everyone is able to spend some time with friends and family during this Holiday Season.

The old guy talking about driving to Nagano got to me. Things like that can be more difficult but more rewarding as you age
@@bardofsteelyea me too almost let a tear...
It's so amazing seeing how they have an actual community of people. Hopefully in the next few years we can see more of these pop up
i really appreciate you showcasing smaller businesses like this all the time! seeing larger places is very cool but small businesses are so important to communities
Can’t believe the lady cooking the food is a great grandma!
She’s very pretty, and shows up for work nicely coiffed, and in jewelry. So pretty!
Why? Because you thought she was the grandpa?
Absolutely love the family owned businesses! I try to patronize the ones in my local area as much as possible. Thanks for featuring this amazing family and their work! ❤
i always watch every single video religiously, i remember watching the first Day in the life video, your content is always so refreshing. I'll go to Japan next year and all your recommendations helped me a lot making my itinerary, thank you!
This is just the loveliest family and community story ❤
It's nice to see a family working together and helping each other out. It's a simple and decent way of living, and the hardworking and supportive structure of this family is such a wholesome things to see I wish them all the best.
It would be so cool if you return to this shop when the young granddaughter is in her twenties and especially if she starts taking over shopping for items like her grandmother.
Great family and the fact that the daughter is there is 4am helping us beautiful to see
yeah , it's called "Child abuse" !!!
@@offlinegamer6756 It's not called "child abuse". You sound sheltered and spoiled. This family gets quality time every week. Were your parents workaholics who you barely got to see before bed?
So ONLY the RICH should send their kids to school. No wonder I HATE the far right especially libertarians who want to bring back child labor.
So wholesome ☺️ You can’t quantify this type of wealth with numbers/money
True ! So true !
This was so heartwarming, I especially liked grumpy grandpa. Thank you for sharing your story, wishing you continued success in your business.
いつも楽しい動画をありがとうございます!
可能であれば、作家さんや書籍編集者の1日もpaoloさんの動画で観れたらいいなと思っています☺️
うんこちんちん
Well that was lovely! Can't believe the great grandmother is still working and for so many hours a day. Also amazing that the kids are working ❤ good to have you back Paolo.
Just got back from a trip. Makes me appreciate your videos that much more. Can’t wait to get back there!
Wonderful episode. This family is very charming. I enjoy seeing them all together, so that they work hard they do not lose the time together. The old gentleman is the back... a bit concerned he might worry too much. But they are a nice family. I wish we had a small grocery store like that here.
Beautiful montage, Paolo! I think you captured a gem for the generations, here! That what-the-heck glance grandma gave grandson when he espoused his interest in managing a vegetable market in the guy was priceless! “Heck no, she telegraphed…don’t you see how hard we have to work and how low we have to price the items to attract penny pinching customers??? You’re going to university, my boy…this is what our sacrifice has been for”! 😂❤. What a beautiful family. Thank you for capturing their experiences!
The market scenes reminded me of my younger years, working for my aunty in the market. Happy times, and it's nice to see something like that happening on the side of the world. Merry Christmas.
Take as much time as you and family need. I always look forward to your family friendly content. Keep it up and all the best over the holiday season.
I hope this video brings a lot of business to this mom and pop shop
Best video of this series so far... I really love how their sons and daughters help since they were little, great video Paolo
That look grandma made when she found out the boy wanted to run a store like theirs. Like 'you sure??' so funny!
This episode is great. Please make more like this kind of family shop/business. It is always great to see how family members support and work together.
They are a lot of video like that on his channel though
Paolo, I can honestly say I never miss your videos and appreciate every single one of them. Thank you so much and I think it's great that you showcase the family run or smaller stores and their amazing dedication to their customers. I'm sure it's been said before but this mindset is absent from so many chain stores (outside of Japan) so it's both heartwarming and sad to see it so well represented elsewhere.
My pleasure!
your videos really help me with clarity what I do working with people. How you narriate reaches my attention because you don't only video what we see on the surface, and allow your people you video/interview share their perspective which is real of the people of Japan. That's why I'm a long time subscriber and may others you welcome.
Man.. i love your videos. you show the part most of us dont see. the struggle of each person in their lifes to be ok. you inspire me a lot. all the best vibes and keep up the amazing work you do.
One of your best videos Paolo! Love the family coming together and working together. And please, take as time as you want for your own family - we'll be here!
Thanks for posting this story, and I hope you got some rest during your time away. I'm traveling to Yokohama next month from Hawaii, and I'm going to try and make it a point to visit this store. I absolutely loved this story and seeing this hard-working family work together. The kids are so cute, too. I hope the young boy eventually takes over the business. I wish them luck and good fortune. I really hope I can meet them. 🙂🤙✌️
This was a lovely video with an amazing family run local grocery store. Hoping it sticks around for many years to come.
What an amazing family! Great and inspiring insight to this cozy local store!
I have never clicked on a video this fast! it's always so good to wake up to a new adventure in Japan! Thank you Paolo for the hard work and for sharing these amazing stories
The great-grandparents and the grandma must've married pretty young since the great-grandfather is only 77 and the 4th generation great-grandkids are already in their pre-teen.
Just got back from Tokyo last week and took some of Paolo's advise on certain places to visit and the dos and don'ts. It pays to watch his channel.
This video was amazing, Paolo-san. I love seeing family-owned businesses thrive like this one. May God bless this family and their legacy.
Charming! Like a trip into the past. Family businesses are an endangered species not only in Japan but all across the developed world.
What a beautiful video! You can truly feel the love of this family and their sense of community. It's heartwarming to know that they continue to thrive despite the growing closure of family-owned shops due to large supermarket chains. I wish them many more years of success, and I hope to shop there the next time I'm in the area. Thank you for sharing these such touching life stories.
This made my day. Loved the family and the small business atmosphere. In the USA it's also very tough on those types of businesses to survive
This video is so heartwarming!! As an owner of a small business I love seeing how other families navigate the balance between business, customer service, and home life. The women in this video also deeply remind me of my own mom - their faces somehow seem the same. Even the tomato rice they're eating for lunch is like the kind my mother-in-law makes! I would love to visit and shop here one day. 💖 I'm so grateful for you and your family, Paolo! Thank you for sharing so many incredible stories with us! All the best for the holiday season and wishing you much success in the new year! 🎊💖
This video kept me smiling the whole way though. What a sweet family run business. It's work but at the same time a family gathering every Saturday and the store runs more efficiently and less stress when more people are doing their part in the store. Another great video, Thank you!
I dont know why but i almost teared up seeing and listening grandpa talk. Its like listening to all those memories and experiences he had to go through to where he is now!
Hi Paolo. Great video as usual. Grandma and Great Grandma are so alike. The owner looked exhausted but was proud that his family is helping it run. I hope you have a great festive season. Bye from Vancouver 🇨🇦
What a lovely family and the store are amazing, all fresh and with very good prices!
Aww such a sweet family. I hope they have many years of fortune and happiness.
What a beautiful family, lovely 🏴
These people are soo polite!! They acknowledge & greet everyone with a smile!!! Wish the UK was the same.. such a delight to watch..thankyou ❤
You always do great and interesting fan facts about Japan
I really enjoy these videos of behind the scenes at local businesses. That was priceless, the surprised look the grandmother gave her grandson who said he wants to run a grocery store when he grows up. 😊
Especially after Grandpa saying its better to be a salary man....
This is so wholesome to see a family working together to make a nice family business. Happy Holidays
Thank you, Happy Holidays to you too!
So flippin cute, the entire family helping out, they seem so kind
I'm so happy that another episode is out!!!
The family is soo sweet!! Wishing them all the best of luck.
That's a lot of work like the grandfather said, although I can't let to express how beautiful and unite this is family is. You can see by the look of the children and the family how happy they are and truly connected!
Wow, This One was truly extra special. Although we sometimes get to meet a husband/wife and a couple of tots. Here is an entire family
business with multiple generations helping out!🤔👏👍
Stuff like this is what I love, you dont see it too often here in America but it's beautiful when you do. I love my local family grocery store because of the spirit it provides and I hope the best for this family. I'd love to be able to shop there
Hey Paolo, I love your videos!
This is heartwarming and inspiring to see. It's been a while since I've enjoyed one of your productions this much. Good work!
Fun Video, What a Wonderful Hardworking Family. That Yakisoba looked so Good.
I have really miss your videos❤. I really watching them more than 1 time. Because its so comfy to watch them
Thanks for the great video, Paolo, and hope you and your lovely family have a wonderful New Years break together
LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS VIDEO. So much nostalgia as an Asian kid growing up and helping out at my family's business.
I feel like you could make an anime out of the life of this family. So cute!
It was great to see all family working to gather Japanese people are the best so polite ,respectful and hardworking.Thank you
I've watched all ur day in the life's and I love them ❤❤
I love this!
How many Dollar Generals do you have near your town in TN?
Such a heart warming family and business. Very inspiring
