Yeah, but the majority of people aren't going to have hallucinations of those they've lost. Most people just have to deal with the reality that when someone kills themselves nothing will bring them back and life will never be the same. I really don't feel they needed to make it more exotic, or more "exiting", because the fact of the matter is that suicide is hopeless, crushing, and numbing. You know what would be a way better way to follow up on Hannah's suicide in season 1? No flashbacks or "ghosts". Make the audience miss her too. She's not coming back and leaving the actress out for the rest of the duration of the series makes the audience feel that loss just as much as the characters.
@@lukeyacono3277 I made my comment as a joke(its unfunny ik)but seriously you'd be surprised with how old a lot of teenagers can look. If you go to a regular high school about a 1/4 or 1/5 of the students looks as old as the characters in 13rw(like early twenties) and that has to do with puberty starting earlier now than it did in the past cause back then kids started at around 12-13ish and now it starts more often at 9-10ish and well if u start something earlier u finish it earlier. The main for this is food now there's less kids starving and more obese ones so the body's like 'well we have all this extra shit let's just start puberty now instead of waiting 3 years'. I see lots of people commenting that teenagers looks too old but that's just how it is now and people should get used to it instead of insulting a kid over their looks and making them feel like they need to be way more mentally mature than their actual age
The stigma around depression, self harm, and mental illness over all has become a trend, attention. Atleast from what I’ve seen on social media and at my school and in general. Now that mental illness is much more of an open topic it’s harder for people to get actual help because when you have a cry for help “I want to die” everyone will be more like “omg sammeeeeee, like yeashhhhhh how relatable!” Because it is a stigma!! And this show really does show it’s fine and you will get attention and you may even come back as a ghost and haunt those who wronged you! It’s just sick.
Exactly! Because of it, I dismiss my issues because I think no one is gonna believe me or will call it a mood when getting scared/stressed about tons of stuff isn't the best mood :/
Mental illnesses are not cool. They fucking suck and it genuinely feels like self torture. It's not "mysterious" or whatever. It's something I really genuinely would not wish on my worst enemy. I'm happy that people are at least aware about how fucked up society is about it.
Even worse it isn't an accurate portrayal of mental health problems, as the majority of people who either experience mental health problems or have recovered from them say. Rape victims are saying how badly the show handles sexual abuse. Many people who had a loved one commit suicide says it glamorises it & doesn't show the harsh brutal reality of loosing someone to suicide. It's like they didn't have a focus group or ask people who have actually been affected by these things for any input.
Fern Alderton In season 2, how did they not handle everyone’s emotions for Hannah’s suicide? I didn’t like season 2 personal, but I disliked it for different reasons.
@Fern Alderton I agree with that. Hmm, yep she definitely seemed less like a victim, and made her in the end; almost seem like a selfish, ill person. It also shows in a way, that some teens are hyper dramatic, and flawed (in season 2). But at the same time, that doesn't mean she wasn't originally suppose to be a loving and normal girl. I can definitely see why you'd be mad through that perspective.
"Please shit on the shit that we already know is bad" I mean I agree, I too want that video, but we're still basically doing what the genie was criticising at the end of the video.
You look odd. Too normal. Yet slightly more attractive than average. You could play an actor playing a murderer but your voice doesn't fit. Your skin is tanned and you seem fit. That goes against the rules.
I hate it when rape victims are only portrayed as victims, it has such a negative impact on people like me that can identify with that trauma, like we can't go on to live normal lives. Besides, consider the audience here, it feels good for everyone when we see someone overcome their struggle not defined by it.
Not Legendary shes talking about that assaulted boy and hannah fyi, pretty easy to figure out 2 out of 3 victims went on to do horrible things as the assault was their “last straw” and they cant move on
@@anorishi yeah. As if it's hard to explain why rape is bad without exaggerating psychology. Rape is bad, because it violates a person's bodily integrity, in the most humiliating way possible. Not to mention a person's right to choose their sexual partner. Which sounds like the thing, that if there's anything we should always be able to choose, that's that. And that's why it's traumatic. It's violent, it's humiliating, it destroys a woman's self respect, it leads to trust issues and more. A trauma doesn't need to last forever. Two decades after being the 13 years old girl raped by Polansky, now adult woman stated that back in the day she thought of him as the most disgusting human being on the planet for what he has done, but now she barely acknowledges his existence, as if he's just a random stranger you see on TV. But as for "just don't rape people", decent people don't rape people. Rapists don't care if you tell them not to rape. That's kind of the whole point of being a rapist. Fun fact, there was an ambush rapist who tried to rape a woman in the park. However she was so horny she raped him. He needed counseling because he was traumatised.
The Ghost Hannah gives encouragement to suicidal people to go for it 'cause they'll be thinking that they will be able to see how their revenge suicide take effect on people after they're dead.
NETFLIX has just cancelled One Day At A Time, a show that actually deals with depression, anxiety, ptsd, panick attacks and mental health as a whole in a beautiful, respectful, tasteful and unromanticized manner. And thry did it because it didn't have a really big audience. BUT THEY KEEP MAKING THIS FUCKING SHIT SHOW BC OF MONEY. THis shows what are their real intent when making content
Call Me Pond I know right! Like ODAAT actually tackled real issues in a relatable way and had an honest approach to them. The anxiety attack episode is one I could personally relate to having attacks all the time.
I hate "13 Reasons Why" all the more. Imagine being a parent of a dead suicide victim and you have seen this show but your child hasn't left a testament. The show barely shows the parents involvement with the dead main character and the MC and therefore all suicidal people(implied by the show) freaking take revenge by murdering herself. Did she want to take revenge on her parents as well and punish them by not making a tape on them and never letting them have closure? Did she hide a note or tape somewhere and they just couldn't find it? Why did their daughter hide away from them but the school counsellor was acceptable for her? Did the family not notice her symptoms enough? Could have the suicide been prevented through paying more attention to their daughter? Their daughter was clearly out for revenge and implies heavily that those people on the tapes murdered her. So, did the daughter feel like her parents murdered her? It's disgusting to make a revenge fantasy with suicide being a heavy part of it. Many suicidal people feel wronged in some way, bullying, overwork, bad childhood, and so on. Especially children and young adults are extremely impulsive compared to adults. They will kill themselves more likely. Some might write a suicide note with many wrongdoings and possibly take their life in a way traumatic to bystanders (i.e. cutting wrists in the family bath, throwing the body in front of an active vehicle, and so on). And many will simply stay silent or apologize and just vanish like that. Leaving people truly wondering: "Why, just why?" And "13 Reasons Why" gives them the answer: "You murdered them. You and all the others that wronged them or just did nothing to help them." Don't freaking give people that idea! If you see someone suffering, help them. If someone died, they don't exist anymore and nothing will change that. You can try to somewhat understand the reasons and you can try to better psychology-based options, try to improve stressors. But don't try to be the dead person, to fully understand them, don't waste your time on stupid revenge for someone who isn't there anymore. If there is a testament, stating illegal reasons like sexual abuse and such, then yes, go to court and try to defend the dead but don't waste your life on it. The living are more important than the dead.
Jeha that's true. A close friend of mine killed himself and there was a nice funeral and nothing changed. No one changed. There was no big reform where everyone realized that they hat too change because that's not how life works. And this show shouldn't teach that.
I take it you haven't watched this show closely enough because if you have watched it you'll be able to see the sort of questions of questions that are raised and the reasons why things played out the way they did. This show is a story based on everyday life and how some cases are dealt with in regards to a student who's being bullied and has problems at home. It's very interesting to watch and mind opening but to each their own.
@Booper Dooper Do they drag everything out? Interesting. Because Bright certainly wasn't dragged out. In fact, it was incredibly rushed and many things were brushed over.

Your comment is the only one with a like other than my original one, and I'm the only comment after yours, so it's pretty fucking obvious...
If you want to watch a show that is actual worth advocating, take a look at netflix original Bojack Horseman, thats takles similar issues but in a serious adult manner. It is probably the most accurate representation of depression on TV at the moment and arguable one of the best series of this decade. (not just my opinion IMDB, rotten tomatos conclude). I can highly recommend checking it out. First 6 episode feel quite random and do a lot of world building but after that you're in for a rollercoaster of great storytelling, emotional attachment und aesthetically pleasing cinematography.
Yup, I completely agrre with you. I'm a huge fan of Netflix's "Bojack Horseman", it's even my favorite show of all time, and I'm also dealing with depression, severe anxiety disorders and BPD. Bojack Horseman is a really clever, BRILLIANT show in all ways. You just have to pay attention to all the small details they put in the dialogues or in the backgrounds to understand that. It portrays mental health as a serious, complicated thing and I've never related that much to cinematographic characters. The series "Bojack Horseman" truly HELPED ME. Not only because it feels good to watch it and giggle to the animal jokes, or because I like how it also question the society we live in (for exemple with Diane and the feminism thing, or that episode in season one where Bojack criticizes the army and says that not all soldiers are heroes). It helped me to feel less alone, by being able to relate to characters and their bad coping mechanisms that I also use. It helped me to understand more how mental health is pretty difficult to understand, as everyone's psychology is different and is affected by many, many factors (such as childhood traumas, substance abuse, the past of the family..). But most of all, Bojack Horseman's fan community helped me. I'm talking about the "Bojack Horseman Sadposting" Facebook group, which is a group where you can share memes and opinions about the show, but also talk about your issues with people who won't ever judge you. It's both a meme-sharing and support group, and when I'm completely demolished by my mental health problems and feel helpless and don't know who to turn to, I reach for help in this group, and I've NEVER been mocked or judged or whatever. People in this group are all kind and supportive and wholesome, because they deal with the same issues and they understand. Bojack Horseman didn't create just a fanbase, it created a whole community of exchange and support and I'm far from being the only one who feels that. "13 Reasons Why", on the other way, is absolute crap. I'm still kinda confused about what are my opinions towards this show, because I both love it and hate it. Yup, I admit, I like watching the show becaaauuuse, well, I like teenage drama. I'm such a 19 yo drama queen myself, so. But I agree with everything that is said in NitPix's critic videos about the series. It pretends to be a preventive show, wanting to discuss serious subjects and push people (especially teenagers) not to keep all for themselves and talk about their issues before it's "too late", but all it does is the EXACT OPPOSITE. I won't write a full essay about this crappy show, not only because I already wrote a pretty long comment so far (sorry lol, if you're still reading wow thank you) but also because I think it isn't even worth it. But I'd just like to say that as a teenage who has been victim of bullying and sexual assault as a kid, suffers from depression and other mental health issues since she was 10, and attempted suicide 3 times in one year, I disagree with "13 Reasons Why", and I've never ever been able to relate to the characters. They're all stereotypical, and mental health issues are romanticized in a way it should NEVER been. This show is everything but realistic, preventive even less. Seriously, what kind of high school deals both with (SEASONS 1-2-3 SPOILER ALERT) students commiting suicide, students being rapists, another one dying in a car accident, another one attempting to do a school shooting, and then another student being killed by one of his classmates ? This is ridiculous. All this show is really about is making the more drama they can so the producers can make more money. That's it. So, I'm FINALLY done with giving my opinion to strangers on the Internet who probably don't give a sh*t about what I think. To resume : BOJACK HORSEMAN = Great, clever show about mental illness 13 REASONS WHY = Shitty show that isn't even really about mental illness. (also sorry if my english is a bit weird some times, I'm a croissant gurl lmao)
8:20 you're EXACTLY right. This show is basically telling everyone if you have something traumatic happen to you, you are now defined by it and you can treat people however you want to because something bad happened to you that one time. It's BS. Just because you have been through trauma (everyone has because it's life) does not give you the right to treat others badly.
And just because you've had a trauma, doesn't mean you're now little more than a traumatised thing. The thing that happened damaged you and will always be a stone on wich your person is built, but it shouldn't be more than that, a stone. You've been hurt, or humiliated, but you are not important *because* of that pain ; you were, still are and always will be, important as a person, regardless of what you've been through. It may be hard, it may take time, but you'll hopefully one day be able to overcome this thing that put you in the role of a victim, and to pursue your life as your own person.
"I know what it's like to be bullied amoust every day." *video of jesus's crucification in the screen* Are u sure u were just bullied? I think tortured would fit better.
Lol yeah that was my main concern with this. They're constantly mentioning rape, cheating, suicide and its attempts, bullying , more rape, a freakin showdown with that Montgomery kid, even a secindary character's mental issues but not the main ones. He's supposed to be the saviour of our tragic heroine so hallucinations are just embodiment of true love, wtf. Clay is few steps away from being put under intensive medical care!!!! I mean he's shown as the voice of reason here , the character you trust the most to be stable and justified. Man, that eulogy scene cracked me up. And yeah, if Hannah would've a ghost she would've been to Zack. She is the type of girl who'll be all about that teenage summer romance.
And now the NIH has released a study associating the release of the show with a 28.9% increase in youth suicide. Great job Selena Gomez, you did it. Money made, conversation started👏🏼
That’s true - there is definitely a suicide increase, but it’s done by males four times more than it’s done by females, and how many males are watching 13 Reasons Why?
@@CarloisBuriedAlive Yeah I am skeptical that 13 Reasons Why caused the increase. I don't think they even controlled for how April, when the show came out, always has increased rates of suicide. More people always die by suicides in the spring regardless. That's a real statistical fact year after year and they just wanted to blame 13 Reasons Why for it this year.
MartianManHunter2258 they want some more of that money so they gotta drag the show now it's so popular even though it prolly ruined the writers original ideas and caused all this controversy lol
I wish Ratatouille dealt with Remy hallucinating. Just imagine. Remy going 'I... see a French chef.' and the other characters are like 'holy shit you need to go to therapy' and then the story is all about Remy getting his mental health back.
Season 2 was so bad at the end I was rooting for the kid to actually shoot them all and was angry when he was talked out of it. They made every character irredeemable and spent the entire season showing the audience time and again there is no recourse for justice. So the only way to pay off was to kill them all but no that would be bad.

I like the new direction and approach you’ve made towards your videos. You really put yourself out there and I really like the vibes you had. Keep going bud.
The characters in this show are so whiny. I got through the first episode. Couldn't watch the second one. I have four people in my life to suicide. I'm not saying that pain like the pain portrayed in the show doesn't matter. But when you compare these problems to people raised in places of high crime and poverty it is hard to understand the 13 reasons why.
Last time a Nitpix video dropped I left my own diatribe indicating Nixpix was (or would be) neutered. Another biting analysis channel dulled by the kindness of his fellow man and increased work schedule; all just because of financial and emotional support. Undermining the scathing reviews and sharp whit. Like an adult honey badger with a hard on being reduced to a peeved rat. Boy did I make a delicious meal of my own shoe when that intro landed. And after I was done reeling I was treated to some well thought analysis. I started to wonder if that intro was just a limp thrust until 7:31 came and Nixpix revealed he was there all along. Except it turns out he was even more unhinged than usual and I was unprepared thanks to my tiny brain. Given the clear effort on show I'm not sure it can be sustained, but it's nice to see Nitpix still has his giblets attached. However my meanderings aside there is something that Nitpix the character and the channel will need to address in the future. How do you resolve the disconnect between Nix/Pix feeling like a loser opposed with the reality being tolerated if not out right adored by a sizable growing community? A community of stupids who are told how much they are loved before getting slapped by a giant throbbing coc-
I’ve never watched this show as a person I knew committed suicide a couple of months or so before the the show came out. But I take you’re word on it, it never seemed very good.
6:18 They retconned season 1 and made Zach and Hannah a couple because people complained about Zach not doing anything wrong but still being put on the tapes. They literally Rise of Skywalker'd their show before Rise of Skywalker was a thing.
Something good and worth talking about: American Vandal. Joke's on you, it's been cancelled and this garbage gets a third season 😐 And yes, I originally checked out AV because you recommended it, so thanks mate
I skipped 2 seasons. Only season I actually liked was the 4th. Everyone told me how they cried watching the show. I only ever cried once. When Justin died. That was hella sad.
Wait. Everything that is about suicide... It is always about Hannah... But literally Alex is a victim of suicide as well (He just SOMEHOW managed to survive). Does the show make his suicide attempt as important as Hannah's actual suicide? Is it not as important because he didn't die? I have no idea I refuse to watch the show
The male characters are mostly there to be aloof, evil, or struggle with issues that don’t get as much attention as their female counterparts, even when they suffer through the very same things. Ironically enough, successful male suicide occurs 4x as much as female suicide lol
@@gwendolyn2442 The show clearly shows that Mrs. Grundy is a predator, and doesn't glorify her relationship with Archie. As for incest, Jason and Polly are distant cousins, so while weird it's not as weird as marrying a first cousin or sibling.
+KidAnarchy 2105 It's still incest, no matter what way you look at it, and the whole Archie/Grundy relationship never even needed to happen. In the original cartoons/comics, Grundy is an old woman, not a young and pretty music teacher! Plus, she is never actually painted as a predator, she's actually referred to as Archie's, and I quote, 'booty tutor', while their relationship is called a 'forbidden romance' by Jughead, rather than Archie being coerced into a relationship with an older, dominant figure. However you paint it, they didn't handle it correctly, and it encourages kids to think of their relationship as okay - have you seen how many fanfictions have been written about them?

Most 17 and 18 years old look like that tho.....
Kimmy Seon yeah no they don’t
@@lukeyacono3277 yeah they can, depending on the person. I know a 15 year old that looks 18, it all depends.
Ahh yes your average anatomically perfect high schooler
The stigma around depression, self harm, and mental illness over all has become a trend, attention. Atleast from what I’ve seen on social media and at my school and in general. Now that mental illness is much more of an open topic it’s harder for people to get actual help because when you have a cry for help “I want to die” everyone will be more like “omg sammeeeeee, like yeashhhhhh how relatable!” Because it is a stigma!! And this show really does show it’s fine and you will get attention and you may even come back as a ghost and haunt those who wronged you! It’s just sick.

This show supposedly about mental health is not appropriate for people struggling with mental health.
Sammy Ariel Maybe the sexual abuse wasn’t handled well. But the the suicide showed everyone affected by it.
Bob ross But the show still needs to come to the conclusion that it.’a still Hannah’s fault. No one else should take the blame for this stupidity.

I hate it when rape victims are only portrayed as victims, it has such a negative impact on people like me that can identify with that trauma, like we can't go on to live normal lives. Besides, consider the audience here, it feels good for everyone when we see someone overcome their struggle not defined by it.
That is a very good point.
That's literally a theme of the seaskn.
Someone to love me 1998 treated rape way better. It also has the old actress of wonderwoman in it
The Ghost Hannah gives encouragement to suicidal people to go for it 'cause they'll be thinking that they will be able to see how their revenge suicide take effect on people after they're dead.

I'm starting to realise that the success of the Marvel Netflix shows was more due to Marvel than Netflix. Them making their own original stuff sucks.
Sure it was better than 13 Reasons Why, but it wasn’t that good
I hate "13 Reasons Why" all the more.
You and all the others that wronged them or just did nothing to help them."
Don't freaking give people that idea!
Well, she made a list called Reasons Why Not that had her parents one it if that helps.
Ai CopyCat it’s not about the parents

If you want to watch a show that is actual worth advocating, take a look at netflix original Bojack Horseman, thats takles similar issues but in a serious adult manner. It is probably the most accurate representation of depression on TV at the moment and arguable one of the best series of this decade.
(not just my opinion IMDB, rotten tomatos conclude). I can highly recommend checking it out. First 6 episode feel quite random and do a lot of world building but after that you're in for a rollercoaster of great storytelling, emotional attachment und aesthetically pleasing cinematography.
Crazy Ex Girlfriend too! Deals with anxiety, depression and Borderline Personality Disorder in a realistic and empathetic way :)
When a comedic cartoon with anthropomorphic animals is more realistic than an edgy live-action teen drama...
Wiz' on it too
Yup, I completely agrre with you.
To resume :
BOJACK HORSEMAN = Great, clever show about mental illness
13 REASONS WHY = Shitty show that isn't even really about mental illness.

"I know what it's like to be bullied amoust every day."
*video of jesus's crucification in the screen*
Are u sure u were just bullied?
Season 2 was so bad at the end I was rooting for the kid to actually shoot them all and was angry when he was talked out of it. They made every character irredeemable and spent the entire season showing the audience time and again there is no recourse for justice. The male characters are mostly there to be aloof, evil, or struggle with issues that don’t get as much attention as their female counterparts, even when they suffer through the very same things. Ironically enough, successful male suicide occurs 4x as much as female suicide lol
@@CarloisBuriedAlive _this show I-_
I swear this is Noel Fielding
It's a pretty damn good replication of Noel that's for sure
12:49 still better than Aladdin 2019
Oh no you're cute
Wait what the hell- I live in Portslade too. If it's the same Portslade. That's wild.
I watch Riverdale and even that's better than this schlock.
@@dwightk.schrute6743 Oh, Riverdale is garbage, just not nearly as garbage, because it doesn't suffer from delusions of grandeur.
Well, Riverdale does glorify incest and teacher student relationships
@@gwendolyn2442 I'm aware of the original Mrs. Grundy but she is definitely painted as a predator in this show. Between not wanting Archie to go to the police just to keep herself out of trouble, and then immediately checking out more teenage boys after leaving Riverdale, its made clear she has a thing for younger boys and that she's wrong for it. Main characters condoning something doesn't mean it's right, and it doesn't mean the show portrays it as right.
