Even tho they are CGI, I believe that they are still the 7 diversity highs. I've noticed that ppl have assumed that the CGI was used to remove the diversity highers. However, watching this vid about the new trailer, I realized that all the CGI dwarves have the same height diversity as the 7 diversity highers. I think CGI dwarves was their original plan when they higher the diversity highers.

It's quite funny how Rachel Zegler says that growing up, she desperately wanted to be snow white, and that she LOVED the princess so much. But yet she's okay with changing the whole story line, actions, and personality of Snow White that made the Snow White she "loved".

I'm a Black woman. I would have loved to have seen a pale woman cast in this movie. If they really wanted to be "diverse," there are plenty of nationalities with people who have pale skin. Just like my own skin is beautiful, "fair" porcelain is uniquely beautiful as well and it actually serves the story. I love old Disney and I love romance. None of this means I hate myself or hate being a woman. I just want to have space for magical love stories again. If they truly cared about this movie, they would've trained animals for the film. That can be done safely and humanely. They would've cast actual dwarves/little people. This movie could've been incredible. But they didn't actually care.
I miss when we used to have actual animals in film. The horses in the Greatest Showman were CGI. The *freaking horses.* The animals we have domesticated and trained for eons. Even if the animal isn't trained to "act", just having the footage of a real animal and the actors having to bounce of off something real and tangible has so much charm

I’d love that too, but you know the woke mob would complain about the actress not being “black enough,” or “Latina enough,” “Indian enough,” etc. They’d criticize the producers for selecting a “white-passing” actress. 🎯 Agree! so much has been made of the politics, dwarves, iterations etc. but really the problems are so foundational and go back to the very announcing of this movie when they cast a very beautiful woman as the wicked queen and an attractive one as the princess thereby undermining the literal driving theme of the whole plot (jealousy). Why not cast someone like Catherine Zeta Jones as the queen. 50’s … drop dead gorgeous when younger but sees her preeminence ceded to someone much younger as she ages.

They DID do a great job with the Queen (casting, designing, etc.) Mirror guy looks like a 3-d rendering of the original mirror guy, which looks great. At least they kept SOMETHING from the original.

In the OG story the piece of apple falls out of her mouth and that's what wakes her up. And I get it, the prince is canonically 30 and she's 14. But they could have made them around the same ages, or made them good friends with a *hint* of romance. It at least would have been emotionally impactful.
The most admirable thing about the original show white is that she expects NOTHING without asserting her own merit. Even the animals in the beginning. She realizes she has frightened them and been over the top and she apologizes and is KIND to them. And they fall in love with her. Then she goes to the dwarves and does not expect them to feel bad and take care of her just because she’s in trouble. She doesn’t expect them to be kind for the sake of kindness. She works her behind off to EARN their respect and to EARN a place there. Her character drives and changes an ENTIRE STORY!!! That’s feminist af.

Snow White was originally a celebration of innocence, youth, purity, beauty, romance, and femininity. It was meant to capture the magical feeling one has when falling in love. In the original fairy tale, she wasn't "saved" by the prince or with a kiss. After she bit the apple, she "fell asleep." The dwarves were so heartbroken that they created a glass coffin, in order to show her beauty. The prince finds the coffin and knows who she is (she's a princess of course) and he asks his men to bring the coffin to the castle where everyone could see her. When they were lifting the coffin, one of the men dropped his corner, and that dislodged the apple from her throat and she woke up. Then she married the prince and the queen was made to wear burning iron shoes, also made by the dwarves, and "danced" until she died.
Yes and even in Disney’s Snow White the Prince doesn’t kiss her because he knows he can save her or because he’s taking advantage of her being unconscious. He think she’s dead and it is a kiss goodbye like many people kiss their loved ones goodbye at a wake and it just happened to wake her up. They really suck at doing the girl boss thing and the one movie where they could’ve really done it … Mulan ….. they just turned her into someone who had been trained all her life rather than a girl who learns how to fight and becomes a great warrior. Even in the animated version you only saw the Prince twice. I mean he heard her singing, he sang, she ran, he sang to her again, & she was flustered. Then you saw him again at the end of the movie. You didn't see him going on a rescue mission AT ALL. So, my question is did Rachel get Snow White & Sleeping Beauty mixed up? Edit: Original Snow White was a girl boss. I really liked how the tv show "Once Upon a Time" was able to make both Snow White and Prince Charming, characters who are strong on their own, but understand that they're stronger together. Charming had to realize that Snow can handle herself in a lot of situations, but Snow also had to realize that she needed him because she's not as physically strong and needed both his strength and love.

It's a classic for a reason and what made Disney well Disney as Snow White is like the first one he ever made if im correct. Who would want to watch any of the live action movies besides maybe like Maleficent or something as that one was pretty good. All of the others suck though. I watched the OG snow white and it was drawn so well and pretty with classic real art and animation not all this CGI or AI or new fondled tech crap animation or whatever else. Plus the princess was white and she was princess like and kind she wasn't mean to men just for the sake of being a "feminist" or whatever and there was an actual romance in the darn thing unlike movies today trying to erase the mere thought of love like it's a bad thing. I know if I ever have children they will be shown movies and TV shows I watched as all these reboots and live action stuff are garbage and ruin the OGS which is what people actually love.

This is what I don't understand. I feel like it should be more offensive that they're hiring POC to just play these roles instead of making new stories. Also, imagine how many fairytales there are from other cultures that we never get to hear. @@Mereologist they released some amazing films in recent years though I think. Encanto was a triumph in my opinion, they chose a country where it would be historically accurate to have such a diverse cast of characters and I absolutely loved it. It didn't feel forced. Luca was such a sweet movie that I thought was incredible too, and I'm just now remembering they had an all white Italian cast of characters which is quite wild actually seeing as it released in 2021 but I haven't actually seen anyone complaining about that since it was set in a small town in the Italian Riviera in the 60's. Soul, starring a black main character with lots of representation for black people in America was well received and I thought it was a cute little movie, nothing incredible but good all the same. Though both Soul and Luca were Pixar. I just hate live action remakes, what is the point? Spending so much money and time on a worse version of the original? That's all it is to me, they are really very lazy. There are still so many good stories to tell from different cultures and different people's minds. Encanto and Luca are proof of that to me, Disney absolutely could but whoever it is deciding they need a live action remake with an out of place POC main character for their old movies should be sacked in my opinion.

Because this time it is blatantly obvious that Disney cannot come up with any good creative idea for themselves but have to butcher and destroy classic tales of other countries and cultures for their own profit. This tale is even older than the Brothers Grimm. It was an oral folk tale that the brothers infused with Christian themes and morals for publication and monetization. These Grimm fairy tales were used as propaganda to moralize and unify a nation.

Like another commenter said, this movie needs to be canceled/scrapped. Here's my opinion as to why: 1: Disney keeps reusing old story lines. If Disney is going to reuse old stories, they need to be done correctly. 2: Snow White has fair skin in the original animation, which is where the "fairest of them all" line comes from (one of its meanings is pale skin and another is being peaceful, and this Snow White is neither) 3: Disney could have given jobs to people with dwarfism instead of CGI. 4: I have seen interviews from the actress playing Snow White (when they were still filming) and she didn’t seem to have a good attitude about this movie.
The original is a German fairy tale and it says: "Spieglein , Spieglein an der Wand , wer ist die Schönste im ganzen Land ". literally translated: "Mirror mirror on the wall, who is the most beautiful in all the land" .... doesn't rhyme in English, so the rhyme was changed when the fairy tales were translated into English, long before Disney made the animated movie. In German this primarily refers to inner values. Because the queen is also beautiful on the outside, but her heart is ugly, eaten away by envy and hate and full of cruelty.... In contrast, Snow White is innocent, friendly and warm-hearted, so beautiful inside and out. This makes the mirror answer: "....Schneewittchen ist tausendmal schöner als ihr " ... So in English : "....Snow White is a thousand times more beautiful than you" Apparently this wisdom was already lost in the first translation....
The original Snow White was saved not once... Not twice... But three times BY MEN 💖 1.- When the hunter went against the power (The Queen), and he didn't fulfill the murder request, sparing Snow White life 🌸 2.- When the Dwarves accepted Snow White as a POLITICAL REFUGEE (if you will), and gave her a home to stay at. 3.- The Prince, he didn't invent the rule to save her life, but The Queen did. I've read a lot of people writing about the 1937 Snow White, and she's a pure hearted young girl, starved of Love and longing for it. When she wishes for The One She Loves to find her, she's dreaming of, what? 'the nice things he'll say.' She wants a kind word. Prince Florian hears her, and he's probably never met a girl like this before. She isn't craving expensive gifts and constant adulation, she just wants to be treated kindly. And when he finds her in the glass coffin. I assume that he's been looking for her again, ever since that first meeting. Let's be honest, after that she just vanished, because The Queen tried to have her murdered. Even though it's breaking his heart to see her supposedly dead. He wants to return that first sweet kiss that she sent him via a blushing dove. A stalker?! It's sweet, innocent and romantic. Plus the Huntsman took a big risk in letting her go free and alive. Once The Queen knew she'd been tricked, she'd have been baying for his blood.
"We can not longer exist without the good men" speak for yourself, not everyone needs a man and I say that as a man. The whole "perfect girlboss who is better at all the guys that everything the whole movie" is annoying, but a girl that is completely helpless is not all that interesting either.
If you read the original Schneewittschen, point 3 is false. In the real Grimm Bros. tale, one of the dwarves trips while carrying her coffin, dropping it, and the impact causes the apple to dislodge itself from her throat, which wakes her up. Of course, she and the Prince end up torturing the evil queen to death by making her walk on hot coals until she falls on her face.

They had to cgi the animals because animals have instincts to protect themselves from predators. No way even a fully trained animal would be able to resist getting away from Rachel.
And about the kiss that wakes Snow White. It's no different than doing CPR without a mask, which people sometimes have to do to save people, when a mask isn't present. A kiss is way less intrusive that blowing air into someone's mouth or nostrils.
The list of the good things about this film? Disney didn't make Snow White a black transgender woman in a wheelchair..... that's it... that's the list.
In my eyes snow white was always gentle, kind, and understanding and her sweetness and gentleness is what made her so beloved by the dwarves and others, which was the contrast with the queen who was brutish and domineering. This movie is a butchery of the original message of snow white: you can be strong and overcome bad things in kind and gentle way.

@chillguy9971 I prefer to call them Dwarves instead of Little People because it's just a cooler name overall, and it's the scientific term for the condition. Fantasy Dwarves are always depicted in good light, if I was an LP I'd like to be called a Dwarf over any of the other names.

There was a retelling done of Snow White that was live action. It was called Mirror Mirror and it was amazing. It had a lot of uniqueness to it but it was a retelling. It wasn’t promoting that it’s a live action version. It also had a lot of concepts of the original in it. They also had dwarves in it.
They also have snow white with the red hair the anime that was good and it's own thing, there's also snow white with the red shoes the one with green dwarfs and its another interpretation of Snow White, there's also Snow White/Mary Margaret from Once Upon a Time which is a good live action version of Snow Whites story but inside of a show and what's even cuter is she ended up with Charming in real life so it's makes it even better and a real life fairytale. Plus there was Snow White and the Huntsmen with Twilight chick and that was good version of it. Another one was Sydney White with Amanda Bynes which I found cute. I think that's all the snow white stories I know of so far and literally all of them are great versions of the original whether they are animated or live action they were all good and certainly a lot better than whatever the woke crap this movie is gonna be.

I still can't get over the scene where, she invites herself to someone else's house and then basically tells the house owners their house is a mess and tells them to clean it. In the original, at least, she helped them to clean but here, she just bosses them around and just watches them without helping.

I think a part of it is the color saturation. but also years ago there was a mix of prosthetics, cgi, practical effects, realistic painting/miniature sets, and now it feels like it’s only CGI (not sure if this is true but you can still see that in lotr movies vs. the hobbit)

I'm a Black woman. I would have loved to have seen a pale woman cast in this movie. If they really wanted to be "diverse," there are plenty of nationalities with people who have pale skin. Just like my own skin is beautiful, "fair" porcelain is uniquely beautiful as well and it actually serves the story. I love old Disney and I love romance. None of this means I hate myself or hate being a woman. I just want to have space for magical love stories again. If they truly cared about this movie, they would've trained animals for the film. That can be done safely and humanely. They would've cast actual dwarves/little people. This movie could've been incredible. But they didn't actually care.

The most admirable thing about the original show white is that she expects NOTHING without asserting her own merit. Even the animals in the beginning. She realizes she has frightened them and been over the top and she apologizes and is KIND to them. And they fall in love with her. In the original fairy tale, she wasn't "saved" by the prince or with a kiss. After she bit the apple, she "fell asleep." The dwarves were so heartbroken that they created a glass coffin, in order to show her beauty. The prince finds the coffin and knows who she is (she's a princess of course) and he asks his men to bring the coffin to the castle where everyone could see her. When they were lifting the coffin, one of the men dropped his corner, and that dislodged the apple from her throat and she woke up. Then she married the prince and the queen was made to wear burning iron shoes, also made by the dwarves, and "danced" until she died.

I really liked how the tv show "Once Upon a Time" was able to make both Snow White and Prince Charming, characters who are strong on their own, but understand that they're stronger together. Charming had to realize that Snow can handle herself in a lot of situations, but Snow also had to realize that she needed him because she's not as physically strong and needed both his strength and love.

I watched the OG snow white and it was drawn so well and pretty with classic real art and animation not all this CGI or AI or new fondled tech crap animation or whatever else. Plus the princess was white and she was princess like and kind she wasn't mean to men just for the sake of being a "feminist" or whatever and there was an actual romance in the darn thing unlike movies today trying to erase the mere thought of love like it's a bad thing. I know if I ever have children they will be shown movies and TV shows I watched as all these reboots and live action stuff are garbage and ruin the OGS which is what people actually love.

Luca was such a sweet movie that I thought was incredible too, and I'm just now remembering they had an all white Italian cast of characters which is quite wild actually seeing as it released in 2021 but I haven't actually seen anyone complaining about that since it was set in a small town in the Italian Riviera in the 60's.
Soul, starring a black main character with lots of representation for black people in America was well received and I thought it was a cute little movie, nothing incredible but good all the same.
Though both Soul and Luca were Pixar.

Like another commenter said, this movie needs to be canceled/scrapped. Here's my opinion as to why:
1: Disney keeps reusing old story lines. If Disney is going to reuse old stories, they need to be done correctly.
2: Snow White has fair skin in the original animation, which is where the "fairest of them all" line comes from (one of its meanings is pale skin and another is being peaceful, and this Snow White is neither)
3: Disney could have given jobs to people with dwarfism instead of CGI.
4: I have seen interviews from the actress playing Snow White (when they were still filming) and she didn’t seem to have a good attitude about this movie.
Disney could have cast the actors from The Hobbit as the 7 dwarves, and it would have still been better than CGI.
The original is a German fairy tale and it says:

literally translated:
"Mirror mirror on the wall,
who is the most beautiful in all the land"
.... doesn't rhyme in English, so the rhyme was changed when the fairy tales were translated into English, long before Disney made the animated movie.

Because the queen is also beautiful on the outside, but her heart is ugly, eaten away by envy and hate and full of cruelty....
In contrast, Snow White is innocent, friendly and warm-hearted, so beautiful inside and out.

When she wishes for The One She Loves to find her, she's dreaming of, what? 'the nice things he'll say.' She wants a kind word.
Prince Florian hears her, and he's probably never met a girl like this before. She isn't craving expensive gifts and constant adulation, she just wants to be treated kindly.
And when he finds her in the glass coffin. I assume that he's been looking for her again, ever since that first meeting. Let's be honest, after that she just vanished, because The Queen tried to have her murdered.
Even though it's breaking his heart to see her supposedly dead. He wants to return that first sweet kiss that she sent him via a blushing dove.

If you read the original Schneewittschen, point 3 is false. In the real Grimm Bros. tale, one of the dwarves trips while carrying her coffin, dropping it, and the impact causes the apple to dislodge itself from her throat, which wakes her up. Of course, she and the Prince end up torturing the evil queen to death by making her walk on hot coals until she falls on her face.

@chillguy9971 I prefer to call them Dwarves instead of Little People because it's just a cooler name overall, and it's the scientific term for the condition. Fantasy Dwarves are always depicted in good light, if I was an LP I'd like to be called a Dwarf over any of the other names.

There was a retelling done of Snow White that was live action. It was called Mirror Mirror and it was amazing. It had a lot of uniqueness to it but it was a retelling. It wasn’t promoting that it’s a live action version. It also had a lot of concepts of the original in it.

They also have snow white with the red hair the anime that was good and it's own thing, there's also snow white with the red shoes the one with green dwarfs and its another interpretation of Snow White, there's also Snow White/Mary Margaret from Once Upon a Time which is a good live action version of Snow Whites story but inside of a show and what's even cuter is she ended up with Charming in real life so it's makes it even better and a real life fairytale. Plus there was Snow White and the Huntsmen with Twilight chick and that was good version of it. Another one was Sydney White with Amanda Bynes which I found cute. I think that's all the snow white stories I know of so far and literally all of them are great versions of the original whether they are animated or live action they were all good and certainly a lot better than whatever the woke crap this movie is gonna be.

I think a part of it is the color saturation. but also years ago there was a mix of prosthetics, cgi, practical effects, realistic painting/miniature sets, and now it feels like it’s only CGI (not sure if this is true but you can still see that in lotr movies vs. the hobbit)
