Max finally checks out Lies of P, the souls-like, Bloodborne-like game about a puppet slaying other puppets for his dear old daddy Geppetto.

My favorite thing about this game is the way they reinterpreted elements of the original book. The fox and cat, the black rabbits, the gold coin tree, Alidoro... it's all stuff from the book and it all makes sense.
It’s hard to see but if you look carefully at the boss subtitles you can read what they say. “Worship the King of Puppets, Praise to him!” “Don’t forget brother, you are one of us.” “We fight for humans, why can’t you see it?” You get some good lore from them.
I know this a month old but I wanted to gush about how I love that every puppet boss has had wonky (yet readable if you can focus on it) subtitles that makes me think there is something happening that we will find out in the story or have to piece together ourselves. It's so exciting!!
@@cuteboy51 And then in New Game+, thanks to an item that gets ported from the initial game, the text becomes completely legible which promotes playing beyond a single playthrough.

I'm kinda shocked how many streamers have NEVER in their entire lives, come across the Riddle of the Sphinx. That's like, THE Riddles101 example, and has been used in gaming as the go-to for decades.
The answer is a human because at the "morning" of our lives we crawl on all fours, during the "midday" we walk on two legs, and at the "dusk" of our lives we are hobbled and walking with a cane or crutch.
Difficulty with simple things is a requirement for being a streamer.
I'm pretty sure Max has played Devil May Cry 3 which also uses this riddle
i thought he just wanted to try the weong answer. at least i got to see the dialogue.
Well... I will be honest I have never heard of this riddle. I merely gussed thinking it's similar to what a trick question would be.

Good to see the game maintains that level of quality beyond the demo. More cool bosses, nice level design, tons of things to upgrade and experiment with.
imho this is maybe the weakest part of the game. after the factory the really cool stuff starts imho. the game is excellent and if u liked the demo ull love the full game.

What’s really neat about the bosses dialogue is that if you look hard enough you can make out what it says. I sometimes lost to bosses on purpose just to keep reading what they are trying to say. What they say is very interesting if you make out what they say.

Or wait for ng+ where you have the decoder from 1st playthrough and its all in English and some of it is audio dialogue too
For example Fuoco is religiously devoted to the King of Puppets and claims them killing you is cleansing the impure.
@@MrRob49815True, but taking the time to figure it out on your first run through REALLY helps you understand what characters like the King of Puppets want with the protagonist.
“Murphy” also thinks you killed the children he likes to play with and tries to kill you (and any other person) in grief.
I cant believe a man who's played every souls game and monster hunter didn't immediately think to spam the dodge button when put on fire... I feel like that would be your first instinct it definitely was for me
So far I've seen six streamers not do this. Were we all not taught to stop drop and roll?

@@cherrydragon3120 well if you're locked on technically you don't roll, but most souls games you roll either way and when you overheat you can roll to help put it out. In this case it works with dashing but it's essentially a Dodge which is a roll

The completion list in me was screaming, watching Max brute, force his way through half the factory, and missing so much along the way, lol.
Exploration is not his biggest strength 😂 He missed so much on his first RE2R playthrough, and that game is pretty linear.
Max popping 2 fable boosters in a row and thinking he cant heal 😂
Idk if he learned this in a later stream, but each blade type has a rating for what damage it’s attacks do and each handle tells you what attacks it does. So the Greatsword handle he’s using does stabbing and slashing attacks, but the glaive blade does significantly decreased damage on stabbing attacks, so he’s actually getting less damage on the heavy attack string from that combo.
It’s a great game with some very poorly explained systems lol.
Yeah the localization is not great, a lot of tutorials and tips got lost in translation

I managed to beat the Puppet of the Future optional boss, then found the lever that drains the poison and felt like an idiot

I didn't find the poison drain until my second playthrough.
It’s so interesting how different players approach problems. I’m on my first playthrough - started a couple days ago after picking up the game at a discounted price.
When I saw the Puppet of the Future and the lake of corruption, I was like, “Welp, let’s go explore and see if I can drain it.” Glad I did. Lol

It's funny how differently one person will approach this game to another. Max sees the Puppet of the Future, he tries fighting it. Me, I see the green stuff adds Corruption, I immediately nope out, hoping that the culvert and all the piping means we can drain it later. xD

I won't really matter that much in my experience. You either learn the boss or you don't.
Like, yes. If he wanted to do better damage, you'd do strike + electric + puppet damage amulet, but you still don't kill the boss that fast.
@@stevenluoma1268 hm yeah true :) I mean in my run I mostly did a electric build and so far it worked out just fine didn’t have to much of a struggle in the beginning. But it still helps in some situations that’s why you find notes 📝 around talking about how effective electric can be.
Well, you do. A guy killed Fuoco in 30 seconds wið an electric build. It's not a joke, he did 3000 damage.@@stevenluoma1268
@@ShinJVAlso You need to level up advance for the elemental dmg to scale up if you go full motivity like Max did theres no much point in going elemental dmg, and i just want to see how much it took for Max to understand the scaling and it's implications.

Don't understand how someone like Max can see a tutorial over a status effect with several paragraphs and completely ignore it then get annoyed by dying to said status effect.
I just kept screaming at Max “GO UP THE F’ING STAIRS GODDAMMIT!!!!!” at the beginning of the factory cause omg that was totally pissing me off 😂

@@NeroSparda99 We all love Max. Definitely one of the best streamers out there. But you have to admit he's terrible with puzzles. Just watch his RE4R playthrough, the part with Ashley where you have to set the time on the clock to open a door. You'll know what I mean😅
The fire robot is probably the hardest boss out the first 4 bosses. Right when I had him below his half health, I just threw a bunch of items at him. 😂
Really? People really do struggle on different bosses. I struggled most on the electric police officer bost(to lazy to check name)

@@cherrydragon3120 he’s very weak to electricity, and with a bit of investment into advance, the electric throwables will melt his health away. If you’re really struggling, I recommend using the electrical weapon you buy from the merchant in Elysian blvd, bringing five electric grenades and a few of those vials that create electrical energy on the ground.

Imo, fuoco is actually pretty easy. Idk why max is obsessed with parrying, i just dodged like a normal souls fame and got plenty of opening attacking. I was also using the same weapon as him. Granted ive used most of my ergo on motivity, so my damage is crazy.
When it was time for the riddle I wasn't paying attention and didn't choose an answer and somehow I got it right 😂
Omg Max, just use the status removal ampoule that you clearly have in your inventory!!

This flame robot boss was a pain in the butt. Not so much the first phase, more so the second phase. Glad I beat it 😮💨

Yeah, this boss was the first time I struggled hard in this game. Then the game got so much harder. I wish you luck my friend.

Man I love how Fuoco just goes straight AC6 on you in phase 2.
Watched 4 players "Let's Play" so far. Yours is the cleanest and does the most damage on first run.
I literally couldn't get through another player's playthrough because he kept talking about parrying, failed every parry, then never touched the dodge button. And I'm being objective, it was much worse.

Ok, and Max doesn't level the fuck up and makes it harder on himself and then complains about it.
U can perfect parry anything and then it won't hurt u! Even if the weapons are on fire, as long as u perfectly parry them, then it won't hurt u in the slightest!
Haven't seen future videos but there is 1 hidden weapon still in the factory right by the first stargazer.
Yeah that weapon is what carried me through the church part with the fire damage
@@Jaebird2 it's so much fun putting status weapons like the fire or decay dagger onto the rock piston handle, or the spear of glory handle. They proc status effects quickly

The wrench weapon,corrupted longsword, hammer, have the higher DMG
The other hand the The rust arm ; shield ,and lightning arm are more stronger
1:05:01 "oh damn you have some life on you!" Yeah or maybe you would do more damage if you didn't lose a collective 12k souls before getting to the boss and ignoring when you have enough to upgrade.
Edit: I said this before the anxiety of max carrying around 12k more souls with half health and now im just screaming at my phone

If your'e struggling with the Fire King then just go grab your Ergo, teleport to the hotel, use your ergo shards, level up & upgrade your weapons.
And maybe go grind some enemies for more ergo & repeat :D
Then try the boss again :D

It's pretty good outside of bosses but I found you get hit out of it a lot against bosses. You have a deceptively huge hurtbox when you go towards them and slam down.

Yes but you can farm in other souls games just by respawning them from the bonfires. Maybe boring as hell, but still possible if you're stuck in certain areas.
Why didn’t he call in the specter?
Many players think it’s a cheap out. Especially playing in front of an audience. It’s kind of a self inflicted challenge mode and it doesn’t feel right, it feels like getting help.
If I fight a boss more than 3 or 4 times and get tired of it, the spector is my buddy. Plus the spector tends to die relatively quick anyways any time I did use it😂@@peacefindersimply5001

I think it's probably the easiest boss in the game.
Everyone had trouble with the fire guy, I messed him up pretty easy, the 4th boss gave me the most trouble tho
I've been debating weather I should buy this game or not, but having watched you Part 1 and 2 Let's plays I've decided I'm going to give it ago.

It's fantastic, truly. I'm about where max is in this video. With work I can't kill it like I do most souls games.
Couldn't recommend the game more, just beat it yesterday and it was amazing, it was also longer and had way more weapon variety than I was expecting. Easy 9.5/10 for me

Some people play for bosss fights. I love boss fights but for me exploring these well designed areas and levels and the loot system is fun I love getting everything first myself or at least attempting to. I play blind so I do miss things.

It uses Victorian Europe as a basis of design. Max refuses to acknowledge this about these games. Bloodborne and Lies of P are entirely European in looks and design.

Why not using fontain before boss which gives additional support? Its realy usefull. Im using IT all the time , before all bosses. Earlier i was struggling do hard
A lot of souls players tend to look down on that strat, plus it gives the boss more hp. It is handy for getting the bosses attention off you though
Because the fun for certain players is learning the bosses properly and overcoming them solo
I found that, unless you had quick cube + the healing cube, that spectres just make it harder. They make the boss act weird, you can still get hit by sweeping attacks while they attack the spectre, and the spectre dies so fast that the extra health of the boss just leaves you worse off than if you hadn't bothered to use the spectre.
Dashing gets rid of overheat faster

Is the electric legion ability seriously not a projectile? Do you really have to be in their face almost patting their ass to hit it
Pretty much, I'm not sure if the blast size actually increases with the charge, but I think it does, and if you upgrade you can walk while charging.
But you need to be pretty close.
Does high damage and stagger though, especially when you unlock the charge.
I'll probably try to unlock all the levels for it, the 1st level charged hit seems to have slightly larger range than something like the sweeper sword swing range. Decent for AOE as well. But it does not show the area it hits well.
But the uncharged version you really need to be next to them.
Most of the legion arms I've seen so far are pretty close range. The hook and an actual gun arm being the main exceptions.
The elite enemies in this game are basically bosses themeselves...n its goddamn annoying

Wait people actually had problems with Elden Ring attacks? I thought it was just a trolling meme. Is patience and timing really just too much for people of today? All you gotta do is think for an extra second XD. Things are harder for different people I guess.
yeah, I never understood this complaint, I always found the long and varying windup attacks actually fun and interesting. Or even ennemies (precisely or approximately) "input reading".
To me, it makes the game feels more dynamic, ennemies actually react to what you do, they add attacks when you overcommit, wait a second more after baiting a dodge/parry. It keeps fight from getting stale by forcing you to THINK about what you do instead of just going on reaction, while also actually giving more agency to players, because when the opponent's reaction depends on yours, you can start manipulating fights and be the one to bait openings.
It is a cheap way to add difficulty to a boss, the other games don't need it for a reason. Well designed bosses. Elden Ring was just cheap.

So you answered the riddle incorrectly, but still received the key, lol. Wonder if the same happens for the rest. BTW that is one of the most overused riddles in gaming history.
I don't believe you get keys for wrong answers outside of the first and last riddles.
You can use the purchasable apple (from one of the supply items given to the clerk at the hotel) to get one key from the statue of saints if you answered one wrong, I believe.
What the guy above me said. However, you have to use the apple for a side quest. So if you used it before then you're out of luck. One of the few gripes I have with the game is some of the side content you unknowingly lock yourself out of because of some decision you made twenty hours ago.

@@LordShrub Yeah, the tool tip mentions trading the ergo to a trader but if you don't read those then you would use them without the wiser.
