Except Smough took 30 gallons of crack and Doritos sauce to make him fast, if not, even faster than like all the other Ornsteins in terms of attacks

The reason they have some great vinyl songs is because they published DJMax, and Round8 just turned those techno beats into orchestra or classic.

I love how different everyone’s experience is in these type of games. I think this boss took me maybe 5 tries whereas the archbishop took me like 30 lol

Same man, I was so excited when I killed the bishop's 1st phase and was hit with the cutscene lol. But then this boss was wayyy easier in my opinion

I was surprised to see max struggling with this boss fight but I figured a lot of it had to do with the fact that his weapon lacks range and is slow af, I was using the spear boss weapon and was just perfect guarding big bro’s attacks and poking the shit out his siblings
Simple strategy on this fight is to legit just parry the Eldest at the start. Since it doesn't do damage to the boss, you can effectively destroy its weapon before any of his siblings jump down, cutting down the most dangerous part of the fight. I find the easiest attacks to cause an easy break are the big spin and chain slams. They are multi-hits meaning more potential perfect guards hence faster weapon break.
Then it's just a matter of weeding out HP since the siblings are far more aggressive then the Eldest so you can easily separate them from the big boy. Eldest will only do an occasional rush attack to close distance. If you end up with more then one sibling on the arena, only the one that is aggro'd to you will be aggressive. The others will stand back, harassing you with crap from a distance.
Also yes, like Max realized on the last attempt, the siblings are "backstab-able", especially the spear bro.
It's actually a fun gank fight since you can control how much gank jank you are willing to put up with.
Honestly, this fight is SUPER easy if you're using a rapier handle with a greatsword blade on it. The range is great, and the auto-backstep after the uncharged R2 is great for getting pokes in. It also hits hard enough to stagger all three of the adds when they try to get close to you, so you can stop them from attacking at all. Beyond that, it's not hard to keep away from the main boss and sneak in hits when he leaves himself open after an attack. It's slow and not very flashy, but it's legit a cakewalk.
u can gameplan the fight pretty well too. i used puppet string on first acc, throwables on second and just rush third. u csn parry the big boy pretty easily ye.
Yeah that's exactly what I did after numerous tries, I thought why don't I just break his weapon and then go through the siblings one by one while the eldest does like half damage.
That was my strategy too.
Side step the overheads and parry the spin moves
Beat this boss second try, parried the mess out of the big brother until his weapon broke and waited for a chance to backstab the others. Broke the rapier bros weapon and the spear guy was the easiest to backstab. Fight was mad fun.
Black Rabbits, I really love this bossfight for some reason.
Maybe its because they have actual combo and teamwork potential.
Rabbitgirl broke my guard and Eldest just bolted to sucker punch me in the face.
They have this odd synergy I both despise and admire.
The youngest will only ever rush in when the eldest ends a combo or is about to begin a combo. Eccentric likes to play defense and stop you from attacking the eldest with his range. The battle maniac will ruthlessly attack you for the stagger so big bro can run his goofy self over for the big swing.
Suprisingly efficient synergy but constantly irritating. If the fight was just against the eldest I would have no problems. He actually feels fair to fight.

My favorite death in this fight was the last brother grappling me directly into the eldests leaping strike which killed me.

Technique and advance have some crazy weapons, but i began as uunga and ended as buunga and i wouldnt have it any other way. glad to see this game getting the limelight it deserves
The last boss' weapon is really good. Has crit like daggers (and the grind ability as well) and works as both a normal sword and dual blades. It's 3 bar fable ability does good damage as well.

I started uunga, and then because I can't read I f*d my stats so bad I'm contemplating restarting. I thought stamina managed weight so I kept pumping it to try to not be heavy. I have like 25 stamina and only 20 Motivity at the Black rabbit fight.
I cant tell if max is perpetually walking around with 12 levels worth of souls on purpose or not, but regardless it stresses me the fuck out.
I do the same. I prefer leveling 5 times at once. Especially after ng2 when it takes two levels to even get a stat boost of any kind with these soft caps
@johndodo2062 I can't understand this way of playing these games. I get wanting more levels at once but max literally lost double this amount of souls in the time before he went and spent them. The risk is not worth the reward.
As someone whos played every souls game, except demons souls, i just stopped caring about my soul count. I simply stop when i run out of resources and it always works out. No reason to be stressing over an infinite resources
To be fair this game is fairly generous with the Dropped Ergo mechanic compared to most Souls games

I've tried to get into souls games for so long but they've never grasped me as a gamer, usually I find the challenge not worth the reward, and usually I don't care much for the stories, I really wanted to like Elden Ring but couldn't, I never found it satisfying to play, same with Sekiro, but Lies of P is the first souls like that I've finally felt like all the pieces have fallen into the right places, satisfying challenge with satisfying combat, an amazing story with excellent atmosphere, I love this game so much I hope to see more from this dev and hopefully more souls likes that feel this good
Same, I wanted to like Elden Ring but never did. Lies of P was so good I finished two playthrough and plan to do 100% on it. I want to try Elden Ring once more just to see if I just grew into souls like.
@@The_Fool_Above_The_Sky Personally as someone who has played all the souls games countless times Elden Ring does not the feel the same whatsoever. It's an interesting souls game with an open world spin on it. There are some areas that feel somewhat familiar to the other games but never really gave the same feeling as DS1/2/3 and Bloodborne. Lies of P feels a bit more similar to Surge but a little more refined.
I'm glad you found one in the series you liked! Souls are some of my favourites and I started out as someone who hated the genre lol. I stopped and started Dark Souls 3 like 4 times over 3 years haha. I recommend Thymesia for a short and fast paced souls-like.
The exploration and secrets are rewarding without being wayyy too much at once and overwhelming like a game like elden ring can be for players. Lies of p just flows so good as the game goes on
Another incredible boss fight. They managed to make the random dudes in masks feel epic.
Alice in wonderland/through the looking glass version of a souls like called "Reflections of A"
I'm on my 3rd run (NG++) for the last few achievements and I'll be done. Love this game.

tip on black rabbits, focus on perfect blocking the big one til his sword breaks, thennn start dealing damage. the little rabbits don't come out til he's down about 60% health, and he'll be a lot easier to manage in the background with a broken sword.
Having a ton of fun with this game. I don’t find that it’s harder than elden ring. I die so much though, trying to perfect block everything. It’s so rewarding
The moment I saw the eldest brothers Sword glowed red on perfect parry was the moment I knew I was about to rob him and his siblings of his life. Add in the fact you can spam farm the red lobster inn by killing the creepy tongue spear arm creature to purchase as many throwables as you want from the MVP merchant on the second floor and then you can just trivialize the remaining siblings. Just chuck 4 throwables and rinse and repeat until the now crippled big bro is isolated.
Low key feel kinda bad since the cowering rabbit mask guy in the vingini factory puts up more of a fight as a stalker than the eldest since his arena allows you to kite him and hit and run.

The tracking in this game is crazy. Especially for the red flashing attacks, you cannot dodge them when you're within range. You HAVE TO perfect guard.
Fun fact: The name Geppetto is a affectionate diminutive of the italian name Giuseppe, that in some parts of the italian peninsula is nicknamed Geppo.
The character Venigni doesn't exist in the story by Collodi. It's a wink to the actor Roberto Benigni, who played the part of Pinocchio in the omonimous film.

I feel like poor Max has never played a strength build before. He's playing it like a dex build which just DOES NOT work. Strength builds are all about patience; blocking, dodging, parrying everything and then getting your 1 attack in. Except Max isn't waiting, he's spamming dodge and running, and trying to attack multiple times quickly. I think it would serve him best to just swap to balance or full tech weapons. Cause so many of his complaints are coming from not relying on the number one combat mechanic, parrying and his lack of stamina and attack openings. He's still having fun and the complaints are just heat of the moment comments, so this is just my personal take on the situation.

Oh boy I sure do love fighting Ornstein, Ornstein, Ornstein, and Smough.
Max was a man possessed when he finally beat the big brother holy crap, the parries and dodges were near perfect.
Dark Souls wasn't the first Soul's game, Banjo Kazooie was.
When I first got to this fight I thought I was gonna have a hell of a time, but I got kinda lucky on the first attempt and learned about the back stabs. It was 3 or 4 attempts until I got it down. I was playing with the fire dagger though, so I could sneak attacks in in the middle of the guy strings.
It's a great game. I have a few complains but overall it's great. It feels like a mix between bloodbone a shekiro.
Also, the last upgrade of the arpoon-chain arm (I don't know the name) is amazing.
Just as a note. The "Baguette" music is actually not sung by a French speaker. Plus the lyrics talk about someone waiting for his heart to come back.

Loved the "....bloodborne too...bloodborne as well*" correction 😂 we all felt that tug at our heartstrings hearing it, even by mistake.
Once you learn you can backstab the other guys the fight gets much more manageable

I am enjoying watching the fight against the Rabbits. I had to do a couple laps to get leveled up to even stand a chance. But I did find out that the Salamander Blade + Acid Handle combo- they do not like that lol! Too much stabby-stabs, they can't handle it.

One of my worst mistakes ever made was buying Demon's Souls for PS3 and then never playing it before the servers were shut down

The comment about gamepass made me laugh haha I literally bought gamepass to play this game because I wasn't sure if I could finish it and have it be worth full price. I havent played any of the souls/souls-like games, primarily because of how notoriously difficult they are, but this game's aesthetic really has me on a chokehold and I gave in. My palms are sweaty the whole time I'm playing it, but it's also so good 😂😂 I'm enjoying it so far, and actually playing it as I'm watching this playthrough. It helps alleviate the rage whenever I have to run all the way back to where I died haha. I'm currently where this video is on, and I can't wait to get to the next part. I'm seeing that according to this playlist, the next chapter should be halfway through the game, and I'm wondering what other areas there are.

I put over 20 points into capacity and use the weight carrying amulet so that my stamina wasn’t draining so quickly using heavy weapons this dude kicked my ass I feel like strength builds are like playing this game on hard mode lol.
Would be nice if STR heavy R2s had more hyper armour, or if strength weapons accumulated a lot more stagger on parries. Especially given later bosses give very little punish windows
Ironically, Romeo's scythe is a heavy weapon and made most of the game easy for me because it's heavy attack is a ranged whip.
Been using the Bone cutting saw blade with the great handle of fate from the starting sweeper weapon and i've been cooking ever since. The handle fable art is the guaranteed perfect parry i thinks its called endure, but not having to worry about red attacks makes all the difference to me. Good range on it, has a good poke, does a bunch of damage once i used the motivity crank. In the Arche abbey now and havent had a hard time at all. Wanna do another technique playthrough using the Katana you get from the green swamp monster ergo. @@chexmixkitty
@@stephenclarkin4578 yea sometimes with STR builds in this game the white stagger bar is bait to get you killed lol. trying to charge up is tough depending on the weapon i swear bosses recognize the charge up and get extra aggressive when you charge it. Just gotta know when to go for it.

The difference in Max's opinion vs Asmongold is honestly refreshing, having watched Asmon's full playthrough.
It was pretty amusing watching him refuse to engage with the parry for 90% of the game as he brute-forced through everything souls-like by trying to dodge, he complained vehemently about boss designs of which most complaints would have nulled if he actually attempted learn to competently parry. Max may have partially rose-tinted view due to BB inspiration but looking forward for the second half of the game.
I was watching Asmon play it expecting him to love it but yeah, he just played it wrong throughout the whole thing. In a way I gotta give him respect for basically beating a 'no parry' challenge though
Especially after last night. Max loved the swamp monster fight. Asmongold take on learning the bosses movement equals not fun and bad game design is wild.

This fight is my biggest complaint of the game because it exposes some issues with the camera, especially having multiple targets moving so sporadically around the screen. The focus is the big guy and you need to have eyes on him at all times so locking on to the siblings makes that kinda difficult. Also there's too many strikes coming your way to parry when you got Taki over here doing launch combos while Siegfried is on you like white on rice. Then Kilik joins the mix and finally Hwang hops in. Cool fight, but I think this fight was annoying not because it was hard, it was just a flaw similar to the Callisto Protocol targeting issues. The second fight against them is light years easier in my opinion and you can even hit the big brother with that Gascoigne tombstone cheese. Still overall the game is at least a 9 out of 10.
Black Rabbit brother is probably where the gun or the shield legion arm would work out best.
Fortunately I got the Aegis arm

I really wish someone would have explained to Max that being slightly heavy makes his stamina recover significantly slower. He clearly made it obvious he thinks stamina recovery speed is important when he called the stamina ring "god-like"
I watched this on Max's twitch channel and I've never been so pissed at a fight more than the black rabbit gang,I commend max for having the patience to replay this fight,I'd have yeeted my tv out the window after the 3 rd attempt
Has anyone figured out what the green/golden fountain (or is it an inactive Star Gazer?) outside the Malum district is? Is the green bird a reference to some other fable or fairy tale? I can't seem to find an answer anywhere.

I fucking love this game but it’s also hard as shit. Especially the bosses. And damn all those minibuses that always appear just before the next stargazer 🙈 but still probably my favourite Souls Like Game so far. I somehow enjoy it more than Bloodborne. That shit was very good but just so damn painful. Don’t know how many times I got my ass handed to me.

Bloodborne and ds3 have a lot flaws… Probably the game with the least amount of actual flaws/counterintuitive game design is sekiro imo. I wouldn’t say that’s the best or anything, but perfection wise I’d argue it’s the closest.

Does anyone else find a tinge of irony, where Max is hyped for the new FF7 Rebirth and the boss fight that gave him the most amount of trouble in this game, so far, is the boss fight that has a guy wielding a buster sword?
I mean the entire fight gives me vibes that they were doing a homage to Final Fantasy; with there being 4 party members, which includes the main boss' weapon referencing Cloud from FF7, a ninja, a lancer/dragoon, and a fencer.
I'm sorry for commenting so much on this but I can't help myself. I feel levels are the only reason max is struggling on this boss. I one shot him easily by ignoring his siblings and just doing as much damage as i could and im far from the best at these games.
I've always said I wish fromsoft would give team ninja a class in level design so they could make nioh as good as it deserves to be. I just wish team ninja didn't cut corners everywhere it makes games feel cheap most the time.
They should try and get the Berserk weapon and gear since you have a cannon legion arm and can use that massive Guts sword.
At least they take turns

increase fable slot is much, much more useful than guard regain, when combined with the amulet that gives dmg for the total amount of fable slots you have... in fact i'd says its the best amulet in the game.
Max should try Last Faith demo for the time of bloodbornes are upon us !!!
For me the conception was perfected at DS3. DS1 was by far the most ground breaking game ever made.

It's getting hard to enjoy Max playing this. He always seemed to be an observant person with these games but so far he's been missing some mini bosses, areas, doesn't seem to be aware of most of the menus, ignores his ergo then acts shocked when he loses it and either his chat has no tips or he's ignoring them.

Do you think this game might be fun for me as a sort of newcomer to 'Souls Games'?
I tried to play Dark Souls 2 (I heard it was the worst?), but after about an hour could get past the first boss & gave up. My friend has Elden Ring & loves it, but it just seemed like too much for me to take when I tried it. I also feel like since I'm an FGC Vet, timing parrying should come easier to me.... (I say this in the most humble way possible to all you Soul/Borne fans)
I really like the story on this & the Weapons & Legion Arm system from what it looks like. Do you think I could be able to handle while still having fun?
it's worth a shot. As an FGC guy myself, the combat makes sense to me.
I can only speak from my experience but LoP is my first ever soulslike and I think it's great, yes it can be a rollercoaster of emotions imo but overall I'm glad I decided to try it :)

different ppl have different opinions, asmongold says that the 1st half of dark souls 1 (start of the game through ornstein and smough) is the best gaming experience ever, and i completely disagree, i personally cant stand the sewers all the way til the bottom of blighttown, i like the quelaag fight tho. i've seen some say that the ambiance in BB isnt to their taste as well. bloodborne is still my favorite souls-like game to this day as well and i kinda disagree about nioh having better combat personally. i love the trick weapon change attack in BB and it made the combat more fun over-all. i beat nioh's base game and 1st dlc mission and was just fed up with dying in 2-3 hits so i cant say past that though.
That fight is hard but with the right blade n handle it will be easy
