    My grandparents are buried in a cemetery in WV and there is a stone that states a 20 year old man buried there was robbed and murdered. The stone was covered with growth. It was so bad, Find a grave had his name misspelled. I did some digging (for years actually) and found out his story. The bottom read, “Gone But Not Forgotten”. I cleaned his stone two years ago and it’s beautiful. It was a mystery I had to solve.

      That's amazing, thank you for doing this, now he may be gone but you have remembered him, just like his stone. Gone but not forgotten

    I definitely saw several large stones or pieces of masonry fall with force from above as if thrown. Maybe the tiny increase in temperature from the heat from your bodies caused the loose masonry which was on the point of falling to finally fall --- or maybe it was the activity of a restless spirit -- Who knows?! -- Very scary! An excellent video for Halloween!

    A few years back I stopped off at a yard sale. (in the deep south). As I looked at items my eyes locked on several very old iron crosses. I asked the woman..."Those are interesting, where did those come from ?" She looked at me oddly and asked "Why does it matter ?" I told her..."It matters because those are from very old cemeteries right ?" She walked away but I followed her. "Well aren't they ?" I asked. What she said really ruffled my feathers. "They won't miss them...they're dead. What's it to you ?" I gave her my 2 cents worth of thought and left. (along the road...I also took down her yard sale signs, later threw them in a trash dumpster I found.) Now I am not in the habit of doing such things to others...but taking and then trying to sell those cemetery crosses for $$$ just angered me. Those iron crosses were someones last respect...family maybe not able to afford a headstone..but could weld the iron together and give them a nice lasting cross. Usually if and when someone breaks into a lead coffin it is for 2 reasons.....they think they were buried with things of value like jewelry etc....the other to see if being buried in a sealed lead coffin...did the body stay in good shape (no air at all), or did it go ahead and decay and, well you know.

    • @SerenitySueGraveyards
      @SerenitySueGraveyards  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wow!!! Thank you for doing that, absolutely agree, she had no right trying to sell anything from a grave, never mind touching anything..just terrible, thankfully there are still people like you who will stand up for respect of those who have passed.

    Sue, if you notice where the sunken spot in the floor is, theres a brick pier that has a huge seperation in it! The pier is support and is sinking, the mausoleum is becoming unstable by the day! What fell were stones or morter from cieling i would guess! It just goes to show you these buildings no matter how well built, always give in to the ravages of time!

    I couldn't hear the knocking but here in Kentucky in the US if you hear something knocking on wood in the forest then its most likely a woodpecker. Not sure if you have them in Ireland but if so it could be alerting other birds to your presence. Just offering an idea. Lovely video. I see why green is associated with Ireland. Heck even your trees look green!

    Sue - what will haunt me forever is a current Irish Eyes video. A little girl is home when a beggar comes to the door needing shelter. Her father lets him in and eventually the stranger joins the little girl in her game room where they happily play cards. She drops one of her cards on the floor and she stoops down to look under the table for her card. She was just expecting to see the beggar’s shoes - she doesn’t see shoes but hooves. OMG! I don’t know if it was Irish Eyes voice, or his delivery or what, but I literally almost fainted. She was playing cards with Satan!!!

    At Cappoquin the story was somewhat different. Brenan had travelled to the town that morning making contact with the Young Irelander and native of Cappoquin, Michael Cavanagh. In the company of Cavanagh they succeeded in alerting groups of supporters both within the town and surrounding country who gathered on that evening to attempt to surprise the police barracks. They succeeded in maintaining an element of secrecy up to a half-hour before the attack, when an old woman of the town warned the police constable on patrol to be careful. This ‘secret information’ was enough to warn other officers and place the barracks in readiness. He had left to inform his officer when the attack occurred. There followed a brief exchange of fire which left one attacker dead and caused the others to disperse. In their retreat they encountered a foot patrol of two other officers who had not been warned. One escaped, but sub-constable James Owens was severely wounded and left for dead in the street. He was to die of his wounds the following day.
    A potential serious attempt took place at Dungarvan. Here the conspirators had the support of a corporal and two privates of the garrison who were to be on guard duty that night. Fortunately for the garrison, the conspirators in the town were not joined by those expected from the country areas. The government soon hurried reinforcements to the area. Two companies of the 7th Fusiliers were sent to Cappoquin, whilst the 39th Regiment was put in readiness in England should it be required. The conspirators themselves remained active until at least two weeks after the failed rising before abandoning all further attempts. In Cappoquin and the Dungarvan area there were a series of arrests during this period mainly on the evidence of an approver, but all the major conspirators escaped. This left the authorities uncertain as to whether or not the attack at Cappoquin had had a political motive at all and they also lacked sufficient evidence to prove a wider conspiracy. At two assizes in Waterford the following year the attackers were tried under the Whiteboys Act and eleven were sentenced to transportation, some to Australia, others to Bermuda.

    It's sad to see old cemeteries like this in such disrepair and neglect. Eventually, all these people in their final resting place will be forgotten, their tombstones eroded by rain, moss, trees, brambles and fallen branches and leaves.

    • @SerenitySueGraveyards
      @SerenitySueGraveyards  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ahh I know and that's why I do this to remember them

    • @NightBazaar
      @NightBazaar ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SerenitySueGraveyards And that's very commendable. Unfortunately, it would take a small army of people to restore such cemeteries. It seems that family of the deceased rarely visit the resting place of their ancestors. Although I've never been to Ireland, my ancestors were Scotch-Irish, and I'm sure some of them are buried in forgotten cemeteries in Ireland. The neglect of cemeteries also occurs in the US, and few people know anything about their ancestors. I know of many of my own ancestors, and I often think about them, but some of them, but I have no idea where some of them were laid to rest. It could be in a forgotten cemetery, or out in the the back of a primitive farm yard (so to speak) that's now covered over by buildings and streets. It makes me wonder, will our own resting place be forgotten and reclaimed and erased by nature in the future? Will any of us be remembered?

    • @SerenitySueGraveyards
      @SerenitySueGraveyards  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I've often thought of this too it sounds terrible but we will be, all I can hope is were left surrounded by nature and not cemented over

      @@SerenitySueGraveyards My grandmother was buried in a 200 year old cemetery located on top of a hill near where I used to live as a child and a teenager. I didn't know her because she died when my mother was just a child. I knew she was buried there somewhere. Her grave, and many others, were completely covered over by thorny briars, brush and tree saplings from decades of neglect, although some parts of the cemetery were somewhat clear.
      Friends and I would sometimes go there at night just to hang out, but in a respectful manner. My entire family would go there during the day to pay our respects. Aunts, uncles, cousins. It was always a very peaceful and quiet place. They'd try to get through to the grave, but the thorny brush everywhere had become too dense to get through. I remember my mother and aunts would shout at the brush saying, "We're here Mama!"
      In more recent times, I've learned the entire cemetery has been completely cleaned of brush and restored by old-timer volunteers. And it's now maintained on a regular basis. Grandmother's grave and headstone can now once again be seen in this charming location. Maybe there's a glimmer of hope after all.

But the further you went in and the more you shared with us, my heart sunk. WHICH IS REALLY TERRIBLE!
      I could be very wrong, but if it was in Australia (WHICH OUR LAWS PIGGY-BACK OFF OF the U.K.), this should/would be CRIMINAL, TBH, as I believe you paying for the Health & Safety (OH&S) and respectful upkeep of our resting place?
      These neglected yards are serious OH&S hazards + Dis-repair + vandalism, would be neglect and breach of contracts, I would say? (I NOTE that human rights may or may not be involved as it may be a grey area as when someone is deceased it's all CRAZY! Do you know if there are any universal rules/laws surrounding the deceased resting places?)
      Also, given that these places are accessible by all the public I am certain OH&S is the #1 CONCERN?

    It was a beautiful cemetery but it seems so forgotten. Is it anywhere near a town or settlement? Those headstones are not that old and the whole place has been abandoned. How sad. It was a bit haphazard the way monuments and box tombs were laid out. And there was still so much more to see. That is a lot of people that have been forgotten. For some reason, this one really upset me. So many totally forgotten, what a shame. I mean I am really upset. What county is this Sue? People buried their dead here and I don't suspect they expected it to turn out like this. One question. What kind of trees are those that come up with 15 or 20 tree limbs and grow straight up with their greenery? They were all over the place. I have been wondering about those trees for a while. I just realized that I have been rambling on. So sorry. Great video. I must be tired or I just lost my mind. ♥️🤔 Oh those were definitely stones being thrown around. This would be a great paranormal one. I just keep going, you would think I had been drinking but I am not. 😮

    Dear Sue, I am honestly surprised you did not encounter even more than you did. When burial grounds are disturbed it is a known that is messes with the flow of things. The newer the disturbance the worse encounters will occur. Perhaps that is why the workets left without completing the job. There are prayers of protection and also you can end a film then ask God to not to allow anything there to follow you home. I say a prayers always before visitors come, short version. Holy Father I ask a hedge strongest of all around my home today. I ask in your nsme that any addictions on the people coming not be allowed to enter my home. I humbly thank God for all he has blessed me with and I always make a point to tell anyone revealed to me that they are free of example of smoking while in my home and the habit will stay gone as they leave as long as they leave it on the sidewalk where they came into my home. I am sharing this with you to let you know that God protects his children. No matter what may be lurking, be it a real spirit or the regenerated evil done that loops for eternity. God Bless,
    A fan.
