      Thank you so much for bringing us back here! I am so saddened to see it getting so much worse! It would be wonderful if someone would want to help the people that have no choice about how they’ve been treated after passing on. That’s so pitiful to see that these ppl paid to be there and no one is keeping them safe😢I have faith that there is someone that will have a heart and fight for the dead. I’m also totally with you on the building just going away, it’s heartbreaking to look at and if they don’t do anything about this really soon, idk if they will ever be able to get the ppl out to find a better resting place, it’s not right for the couple who bought it to not try, they could get funding and do the right thing, if they purchased it, why not just give it to the community, is that a possibility? Or if a judge could force them into taking care of their property, if they can even do that. Sry for the book I’ve written, but no one’s memory or corpse should be this disrespected, no matter what. I’ve always enjoyed your videos and yes please keep us updated on this place that was built with love and trust, it’s so sad to see that, so awfu to think that could happen to any of us, but it’s still very pitiful.so thank you again for letting us come along and always keep doing what your doing❤❤❤❤❤

      I can't believe the change since I first saw this with you 6 years ago. I completely agree about the building; those people should be removed and interred respectfully on that property, unless family steps up to move them elsewhere.
      I don't know why someone would buy that property, even with the buildings gone. What can you do with a cemetery, unless there is a lot of property there that is financially worth developing? Thanks for the update.

    I agree Jay. The deceased need to be removed and buried, the crypt torn down along with the other structures on the property. The question is back to the funding to do this, who/whom will undertake the financial burden. It is so sad that this has happened and may never come to a solution.

The people who have taken it upon themselves to mow the grounds and place flowers and flags on the grave sites should be commended ..Even though the inside of the Mausoleum is sad it was nice to see the many beautiful floral arrangements . Those open or empty ones could be where the family moved their family member. Also, those stained glass windows take a while to make and are expensive to make. Even the broken pieces take a bit of time to have replaced as the piece has to be taken apart to replace it. If the building is torn down, I hope the stained glass window is saved and repaired and used elsewhere.

    The Good Faith Cemetery a mausoleum that was built in 1976 by Westminster Associates. Ownership was transferred to Larry Deminski, who incorporated the cemetery as the Westminster Memorial Garden, in 1983. The property was donated to the Unity Light of Christ Church in 2001, although the transfer of the land was never officially recorded. 2014 only 15 bodies have been removed. This is crazy

      @@stephaniehowe0973 Churches don't pay property taxes in most places. But as @tuckersdoghouse2018 said above, the transfer of the land to Unity Light of Christ Church was never officially recorded. This left the owner -- the Larry Deminski company -- paying property taxes, which they eventually stopped doing. A Florida investor purchased the property at the tax sale, discovered it had a deteriorating mausoleum on it, said no thanks, and declined to take on the maintenance of the building or to continue paying the taxes. (The investor probably thought he was buying property that could be developed into a subdivision.)

      I think it's important to realize that the people interred here are deceased and that they don't care what happens with their lifeless, useless bodies. If you believe in an afterlife, these souls aren't obsessing about what's going on with this mausoleum. It's foolish to expect the township to fund relocation of the bodies. Taxpayers want roads and sewers, not funeral services. The problem with this property is that if you buy it or start removing bodies, you open up a Pandira's Box. Who's to say what the deceased would want? Cremation, burial plot, or another mausoleum? Any owner would become immediately liable for rectifying the situation. It's a mess with no real resolution. ☹️

    BTW, most cemeteries and mausoleums are not for eternity but are on lease for 99 years. At that time it is thought that any living relatives and friends are no longer living, therefore have no visitors. Also at 99 years the bodies are dissolved back into nature excepting the bones, which are crushed and placed on the grounds of the cemetery, so in a sense, they are still placed imperpetuity.

    Although it's heartening to see volunteers stepping up to maintain the outside grounds, it still is beyond sad to see the continuing deterioration of the Mausoleum. Shame on the Township board for refusing to address this. I agree, Jay, the interred should be relocated, buried properly somewhere else, and both buildings razed. Then the remaining cemetery would be easier to maintain. This might be a situation where the state has to step in if local officials refuse to take any responsibility. I pray for a good outcome for the families and souls of the interred, that they will eventually find a peaceful resolution. I agree the building is beyond repair. The roof is structurally unsound now. The mildew has infiltrated. It should be torn down. The bodies that remain should be removed and reinterred somewhere else or if possible graves dug on the property. If family cannot be found. The state or city or someone or some other entity should step in and reinterr the remains. Isnt this a health hazard with the risk of moisture leaking into the vaults, the stucture is crumbling for crying out loud. I think the State should step in and take it over.

      You'll discover it's VERY difficult to convince taxpayers to cough up the money for a project like this. The taxpayers obviously received no financial benefit from this mausoleum and had nothing at all to do with its construction or its deterioration. This whole mess was the privately-owned property of Larry Deminski. If the taxpayers receive a bill for reinterring the bodies and for demolishing the mausoleum, they will undoubtedly be angry about it and will vote the politicians out of office who make that decision on their behalf. And if there's one thing politicians don't like, it's getting voted out of office! And that's why your plan to force the residents of Plains Township to pay for this is apt to fail.

    A good cautionary tale for those who might find mausoleum burial appealing. While it may give you some odd comfort to know you will stay above ground, this shows how tenuous that is. Abandoned and desecrated mausoleums are multitudinous in the USA and elsewhere. Maintaining these buildings in perpetuity is impossible. When the mausoleum is filled the income stops.

    JP, Thanks for keeping us posted on this. It does sadden me to see someones loved ones resting place vandalized and unfortunately not kept up.
    It is a pleasant view to see the grounds being taken care though.
    Here in RI there is a cemetery that my grandparents are buried and at one point the cemetery grounds were constantly overgrown and in very poor shape.
    But someone stepped up and the grounds are in some of the best conditions now that i can ever remember.
    Thanks again for sharing and stay well!!!

  • @rpcarrier

    You stated that a priest took care of the grounds and after he died the upkeep stopped. I would assume that the grounds are on property that was owned by the Catholic Church. Being Catholic myself I am very familiar with the consecrated grounds of our graveyard and mausoleum. My wife and I have a vault in the mausoleum in our parish. When this mausoleum was constructed and sold to the families, a portion of the sale was paid to the church for perpetual care. A certain amount of church collection goes to the diocese and is placed into the account for perpetual care. Those funds make their way to the vatican. Long story short, the vatican received the perpetual care payments when the structures were built and they were providing the funds for upkeep to the priest when he was alive. Just because the priest died, it doesn't relieve them of their original purchase commitment to the families. The funds through collections and original purchase was invested and without a doubt went straight to the Vatican. Bottom line, sue the Catholic church for the repairs and upkeep of this property. They have a responsibility to live up to their obligation. They made this commitment when the families signed the contract.

    I was there about a month ago, still just mind blown how nothing has ever been done. At this rate it’s the townships fault and they should be responsible to do something about it, it’s honestly a hazardous area….

  • @user-randi1987
    @user-randi1987 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I still cant believe this was allowed to happen. There must have been some sort of perpetual care clause in the contracts people signed and the prior owners were allowed to just walk away with no reponsibility. If i had family there i would be so hurt and angry.

    I've watched all that you shared on this property, and I'm not tired of it. It's pretty sad to hear that it is still in limbo, although the cemetery does look improved since some kind soul, or souls, took it upon themselves to tidy it up a bit. ☺️👍
    I'd like to see you revisit that abandoned funeral home where the people lived above the operation. You explored with a friend (plumber I think 🤔) and I can't think of his name off hand. shux!
    A cat ran out of one of the bedrooms and scared the crap out of you two! 😂😮
    And the hoarder house, next to an abandoned pizza place (?). There was a red Lincoln Town Car, kinda on it's side. Kinda creepy vibes!
    Thanks for this update, JP 😉👍
    I hope that something gets done with the mausoleum ❤️

      Good memory! The funeral home was sold and torn down (empty lot now). The abandoned house next to pizza place also has new owners and it was cleaned out and sold.

    😢😢 I think it is so very sad 😔 what's become of this once beautiful and peaceful place.
    I'm wondering why the township can't claim eminent domain and take control of the property that way. If that was possible there could eventually be a satisfactory resolution to the fate of this property.
    I have to agree with you, Jay about what may eventually happen here. That the loved ones laid to rest here be moved to a better place and after the removals are completed the place should be torn down and a grounds keeper be found or appointed to keep up the mowing and caretaking of the graves on the property.
    The state of this sacred place is the very reason my family and I made the decision to have our loved ones cremated. That way something like this can never happen to them.
    Thanks so much for the updates and for your respect for those laid to rest here ❤

    Im late to the party, but it should be torn down (The mausoleum) and the people placed elsewhere, and if they do not have family that can move them, why not bury them in the cemetery grounds? I know it is not ideal, but it would cut costs considerably, and the people would still have a place to be laid. this is so sad that a place like this would be in such disrepair. I hope someone takes that cemetery and can make it nice again... I know a cemetery where My great grandparents are was adopted by the town and they mowe and upkeep it.

    How sad cemeteries are sacred places that should be like a shrine IMO. The masoleum i always thought that was the best choice when a perzson passes but apparently nothing 😢 .glad at leas the citizens have stepped up to clean the grounds hopefully something can be done about the souls in the masoleum.

      No clue what state IMO if the city or county won't step in the state should find out who is the state representative for the area and pound his/her ear to do something. Government waste money all the time now use it for something positive !

  • @zhaneranger
    @zhaneranger 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    It costs a lot of money and there is a lot of red tape to move a body once it’s been interred. When the living are struggling to get by, worrying about the already dead is going to get but on the back burner.
    I don’t blame the new owners for not being able to sink loads of money to repair this either. Cemeteries don’t make money if they aren’t actively selling plots. It’s literally a money pit.

    What is scary is that l was just thinking about this place? How does anyone get enjoyment out of vandalising a cemetry?? My thought is to remove the bodies in the mausoleum and place them in the lawn area. As was mentioned in the video, there are most likely no living relatives to have a loved one removed. The mausoleum and any other buildings on the ground should then all be demolished. This is incredibly sad!!

  • @pageseven1792
    @pageseven1792 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    This is a total joke of a situation. I looked up the assessed value of all the land and property together. It's $99.4K. Serioulsy? I mean the property next door to it with a house is assessed at $222K. More than twice that. If people are able to buy homes for $222k and more, but no one can afford to spend $100k and invest in restoring the building... that's just completely dumb. This property should be able to be purchased easily and the minimal work needed to renovate that building shouldn't be tough to scrape together. I can't believe with all the publicity/videos this building has seen that someone hasn't put together some kind of gofundme or similar, and just purchased the property already. JP your 3rd video on this place got 180k views. If every viewer gave $1 this place could be bought and completely fixed up in no time.

    I like the updates J, it's a sad situation for those families involved. I think the attention given by your videos, and the kind work of the volunteers, might just help with the outcome. I think your suggestion of demolition of the buildings, and conversion of the property to a cemetery seems right.

Priest used his own money to maintain it and when he passed it became abandoned, A housing company used it as a sales office and now it's empty

    It's amazing to think when seeing this abandonment that prior to TV, cars etc. ordinary folks would often visit the graves of loved ones with a picnic. This is when the Christian concept of the Communion of Saints was foremost in people's minds. Effectively, Grandma was still part of the family simply in a different form.
    In the 1930's Sundays in the cemeteries were packed with families. It wasn't until the horror movies of the late 30's and 40's that cemeteries were regarded as spooky. Until that time cemeteries were regarded as sacred by most Christians.

    I don't understand, how can you "sell" a cemetery? Didn't the people buried there purchase their plots? This is sacred ground, some civic organization should take it over, maybe a church or historical society, even a noy scout troop. To do anything else seems like desicration

    the Franceschini tombs you looked at Luigi 1907-1985 he is buried there his wife Jennie 1913-2004 she is not buried there she is buried at St Joseph Church Cemetery they were married in 1930 they had no children and at the time of their respective deaths they had a couple siblings which I will gather are also gone by now there were nieces and nephews so I will assume that Luigi will be there forever or till they move all the bodies due to necessity.

    Great presentation. I was wondering there's a cemetery in front of the mausoleum. Maybe the owners would let those in the mausoleum be buried there. I personally think it should be for free if not at a very reduced price. Tho maybe the deceased wishes were not to be buried in the ground. A very sad situation, terrible both sides can't compromise on a solution.
