That's COOL!! I have my file in the cart, now. I am unloading a bunch of files I bought from the net, because they don't fit/work. The files I get from you, Steve and Patrick ALWAYS work. Thanks for the lessons and I promise I am putting them to use and getting better, everyday.
Thanks again for the great video. My Roly Lasermatic 10 arrived yesterday and boy is this thing amazing. I sat there for 10 minutes after assembling it just so I could admire the craftsmanship. Anyway, I order a few of your files to get me going. Cheers, Greg
Another great/fun project, Rich. Thanks for showing how the pieces of work pass from initiation to completion. They'll be a lot of head scratching for those who didn't stay to the end 🙆♂️
Thank you so much for this video, Rich! I had the same issue that you are referring to here but in my case the circles had inside teething (like an inverted gear), so it was next to impossible to move. I ended up throwing the pieces in the garbage and never tried it again. Yours make much more sense. I can't wait to make these. Great job as usual Rich, Cheers
Another excellent video Rich! Love how you honored the gift givers at the beginning of your video and thanks too for sharing all of the helpful tips in the video! I became a Patron of yours yesterday and also purchased Lightburn which I've been learning mostly from your videos. In a few weeks, I'll get my own laser cutter thanks in large part to all of the inspiration and lessons you've shared. Grateful to you!
Hi Rich. Great project that may last forever. Looks beautiful withe honey wax, i like this one. Please dont worry about how long is your video, its always interesting to watch to the end because you always keep something in your sleeve to share in the end of your video. I like every minute of it. Thank you so much for sharing this design. cheers
I glued a piece of heavy tracing paper to the rings, cut around the edges when dry, waxed the rings and glued the final piece on top, works great as I only had 3.2mm MDF
Nice. I bought it , but one Thing I have, to Change the Date you have to scroll upwards , so you lift Always the calendar. It seems to be better when the Letters are Backwards on the circle, so when i wanna Change the Date i scroll the wheel downwards. So I am will be able to do it with one Hand . Great Job, thank you.
Well, I think having the thinner wood works best, but if that's all you have, it might work. If it doesn't, you can still salvage most of the pieces and just order some thinner wood for the dials.
Hi, 1st thanks for all the videos I have learned so much. I want to use the free libraries that are supplyed on your web sight and take advantage of some of the files that you provided, but do you know of any way that I can either find out or match the font that is being used. Many thanks Dave.
May be out of order but: received my Roly today. 1 hr 38 min to build. Have some comments to Leo on build. Did not get a usb with your files I thought you had indicated would be included with laser. Maybe it was just for 1st lasers sold.? Do you know what the slot and 2 screw holes at front of laser are for? Looks like the slot may support a microsd card. Did not see anything in the manual on this.
No, I don't sand anything Diane. I use a paint brush to clean the dust and debris. Don't touch it with your fingers though! The oils from your skin will cause it to stain. If that doesn't get it clean, I rinse it with water and dry it right away by patting it with a towel.
Rich, thank you for the great project. For the dials, how do you get the machine to engrave each number ect one at a time instead of traversing back and forth? This project will help us very much with my wife's mother, who has advanced dementia. Something to look forward to each day as we care for her.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy can you do a video on this. I put the all together the best I could, grouped them, reduced the size but couldn't separate the layers after that.
I'm pretty sure I use Walrus cutting board wax on this project. A little bit goes a long way, and this project is still looking and working great now for months on my shelf in the house. amzn.to/3PBiOVP
Hi, I have a Sculpfun S9 diodo láser. It works good but the time it takes to engrave and cut on 6 mm playwood is to much. Do you know how can I improve the time in both cases?
So cool but I would be the guy that makes it and then it stays on the exact day I made it because I would forget to change it. I just saw the other day that the calendar was still on december 2022 LOL Maybe motorize it....hmmmm..... Great video as always my friend!!!
Rich, great video. I was looking at the comments and didn't see where anybody mentioned this. At 14:15 you mention the foam (?) that you put under the three sides. I went to Lowes, WalMart and even HobbyLobby to see if they had any. However I didn't know the name and called it extruded foam. Do you remember what the name of that stuff is and where you got it? It looks very familiar and I thought it would be easy to find but to no avail. It's a devilishly easy way to extract the smoke and I want to try it.
How can I change the names on the dials to text. That's the problem why I can't edit them like the other texts. I want to make a calendar like this for my grandchildren. We speak Flemish here (that's the Belgian version of Dutch :-)), so I have to change Mon to Maa, Tue to Din... .I'm using Lightburn 1.3.01 and haven't found anything to "convert to text" anywhere. Do you know a solution or do I just make new dials. Maybe "convert to text" is something for a new version of Lightburn. I have spent days watching all your youtube tutorials and have learned an incredible amount from it (thank you very much) but here I am stuck.
Great. As usual. Thanks. If I may, I got stuck with the following problem (no connection to the topic of your video): In a project that I plan I had 2 shapes which needed design improvements so that they combine better to form a certain path for a certain object to move through. To achieve the design improvements I used Node Editing which included, i.a., cutting the original shape-lines. Now that I have the desired result ( after multiple editing actions on both shapes) I've got two lines (really touching each other), not shapes i.e.: I can not bolean merge them. Trying to use the Pencil to combine the two lines I ended up having 3 lines. What can I do? Emanuel
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy Rich, I have done all that. I started with 2 shapes, Broke their lines, inserted nodes, moved lines/nodes and deleted nodes. At the end of the designing I ended up with two lines. They are no shapes any more. Even when I have the end of each of the original shapes (now being lines) together at a certain point ( forming the newly designed shape), I do not find how to do the opposite of B: how to weld the ends of the lines to get back shapes that can be manipulated as shapes do. ?
Sorry about the sound quality in the other shop! I used the wrong microphone!

You can move them either way if you waxed the inside parts.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy i did it . But as a right hand , pull down was the intuitiv way for me to get the next day. 😁
Great Video Rich. Where do you get your 2mm baltic birch plywood?
Right now, mostly on Amazon Pierre.
What about taking the 3mm wood and lightly sand .1 or .2mm off so that it moves but still fairly tight.

You can ungroup any of the files and delete the text, and then use any font you want Dave.
I like the Fleur-de-lis pattern but, IMO it's makes it hard to read the date. Nice idea. There are so many possibilities for calendars.
You can change the graphics to whatever you want Jake.

If you mean the ones by the SD Card, they serve no purpose at the current time Carl. I believe Leo said they were for future accessories.
you mentioned that you had to dust the rings with the print on it. can you explain that? Did you sand it?
No, I don't sand anything Diane. I use a paint brush to clean the dust and debris. Don't touch it with your fingers though! The oils from your skin will cause it to stain. If that doesn't get it clean, I rinse it with water and dry it right away by patting it with a towel.
Just wondering how to get this file, thanks 3:16

@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy how can I make the calendar bigger
6:14 Can any one tell me that what's the Square function called and how I can do this?
The square grid is a representation of the size and work area of your laser. You have to work within that square.
Rich, thank you for the great project. For the dials, how do you get the machine to engrave each number ect one at a time instead of traversing back and forth?
This project will help us very much with my wife's mother, who has advanced dementia. Something to look forward to each day as we care for her.
Rich I figured it out "Offset-Fill" Again, thank you for the project. Little things can be big things when dealing with dementia/alzheimers.
Or you can fill shapes individually Richard.
Where can I get the files? Thanks for your videos!!!
These files are available on my forum and my online store. Links are in the description.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy I don't use PayPal, sorry. Is there a way to pay with a credit card? Thanks.
Great project and video! Gotta ask - Were any Walruses harmed in the making of this video? ;)
🤪 I hope not!
Can I make this smaller?
Yes, if you scale all of them at once.

How do you dust off a wood like this?
With a paintbrush Armand. Don't touch the engraving or the oil from your fingers will get on the soot and stain the wood.

Can anyone tell me how much it take time to build calender?
No. The time is takes is based on the laser you're using. On my 10W diode, it takes about 2 hours. On my 90W Co2, about 15 min.
Can any one tell me that what's the Square function called and how I can do this?
Hello. I have been trying to locate the cutting file for this perpetual calendar but can’t seem to find it. Anyone ? Thank you.
It's in my online store: engraveandcutfiles.com/
Why do you start ur burn so far from the bottom?
Because it's closer to the fume exhaust hose up top.
I bet car mechanics would not make this mistake: calipers should not touch the rotors! Thanks or the vid!
🤪 Funny!
