    *7/14/23:* I updated the purchase link in the description to go to the proper product! *These keychains are selling on Etsy for $12-15 each! That's a pretty good profit!*

    fun video Rich, especially the back story of the 2 movies, which I had forgotten [old enough to have seen them too old to remember :)] thanks much. the tip to be able to move cursor away from the reference point so you can see where you're moving the shape was great.

    It’s still missing the Keychain from the Movie „Room 1408“ 😂😂😂 great video again Rich 👍🏼

      The Dolphin was a fictitious NY hotel, and 1408 is not quite as known as these other two.

    Your description is very detailed. That’s not a bad thing! I could buy an SVG file for $1.99. Now I can do it myself and the skills I learned are invaluable! Thanks Rich!

    took your advice on the Roly LaserMATIC 10 .!! also looking for a C02. thoughts on the Monport for a beginner ?.. thinking bigger than the 40. Many options out there - and big price difference

    • @TheLouisianaHobbyGuy
      @TheLouisianaHobbyGuy  ปีที่แล้ว

      If you're talking budget Co2, I would spend a few dollars more and buy from OMTech. Monport support is beyond terrible, which is why I don't deal with or recommend them anymore. And trust me, you will need warranty and tech support! If you're looking around 50W with a decent sized bed, look at the Gweike Cloud 50W Pro. I have one and it's an awesome all-in-one machine without all of the headaches. If you have a problem, they have 24/7 chat support with an actual technician. I also have a coupon code to save a couple hundred bucks: lahobbyguy

    That material is known in the industry as Traffolyte. There are 2 types available, material designed for rotary engraving and laser engraving.
    I sell a lot of signs and labels made with Traffolyte, it is a great material to work with. Rowmark are one of the suppliers and they have it in 2 & 3 colour varieties.

      @SwervingLemon ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Was gonna chime in with this. Rowmark is a supplier. My experience with their products has been far superior to a lot of other vendors. Their stuff ablates clean without leaving nearly as much smoky residue.

      Not at all. It's like any other plastic.

    What thickness is best for the LM10 ? Will the white front work as nice as the yellow. Getting ready to order some. YOU ARE AWESOME

    • @TheLouisianaHobbyGuy
      @TheLouisianaHobbyGuy  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thickness doesn't really matter, but no white. A diode laser cannot engrave white.

    Hi Rich, great video again. Quick question. I am using an Ortur 2 with the 10W LU2-10A laser, and am having real troubles doing this on clear acrylic. Running on Ortur's Black engraving platform, I ran the laser at 100% at 200MM with 4 passes, and did not even go through the acrylic. I then tried putting some blue painters tape on top of the acrylic thinking there was some reflection of the beam, but no difference. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

    • @TheLouisianaHobbyGuy
      @TheLouisianaHobbyGuy  ปีที่แล้ว

      If you're trying to cut the acrylic, that'll never happen with any diode laser because the 455nm laser beam passes right through. You'll need a Co2 to cut it. I engrave clear acrylic by just leaving the paper cover on it, or you can use masking.

    • @russsthrome2690
      @russsthrome2690 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Rich. I had assumed you cut these key chains out on the Roly diode laser. Or will it not cut the acrylic I am using because it is clear?

    Thanks for the link to the plastic seller but which of the many different plasics is it and how thick did yoy use? The first one I looked at was 30 bucks. Cool idea though. Thanks for the video!

      I use 1-3mm George. Here's an example of a 12x24" sheet for $15.35:

      I updated the link in the description as well, thanks! The sheet size of 12x24" works out to be about $1.50 for each keychain.

    • @KenWeinert
      @KenWeinert ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy That's only .1mm - that seems thinner than what you were showing as your examples. Am I just reading it incorrectly?

    • @TheLouisianaHobbyGuy
      @TheLouisianaHobbyGuy  ปีที่แล้ว

      The one I used in the video was 1.5mm. It's hard to navigate their website for this material because there are so many different types. I bought this last year, so I don't have the exact link, but I have some red in 1mm and it comes out just as good.

    • @C52MYERS
      @C52MYERS ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Use a PO Box… it’s a lot safer for you and your friend…
    Also these 12” x 24” sell for $15+ per sheet on the site…. That little sample piece you have is not the same thing. Pretty pricy…

    • @TheLouisianaHobbyGuy
      @TheLouisianaHobbyGuy  ปีที่แล้ว

      That's 32 keychains for $15 or about 47 cents each. Cheaper than the one I used.

    On my Custom Keyrings on the back I put "If Found Call ( Mobile/Cell Number)" I use a mobile/cell number just in case they can get an address from a land line number look up.
