- A fantastic trip lure fishing for pollack in the Irish Sea out of Port Logan in the Mull of Galloway.
Drifting the rough ground at the foot of the cliffs saw lots of fish to the kayak with weedless shads and metals doing the business as usual, the metals accounting for the majority of the fish.
It was also the first run out for the new Galaxy Sturgeon FX Motor and it performed really well. There are still stacks of fish out there as the water temperature will remain high for a few weeks yet.

great to see this. I go there with my children spinning and exploring had a bass there early this year off the point. Keep dreaming about getting a kayak. Seeing this has settled my mind. I'm getting a double then the kids can take turns coming out with me. cheers.

Looked like a cracking day, with some good fish.
Just purchased a kayak myself, hoping delivery will be tomorrow. Chomping at the bit to get out, albeit at the wrong end of the year for it.

We used to get them on the north east coast when I was a kid but the grounds have been fished out now. Have to go north or north west for them now.

Fantastic trip yet again! Can you tell me if you were to recommend a kayak between the sturgeon fx or the supernova, which one would it be and why? Thank you in advance as am looking to buy my first fishing kayak. Cheers!
Hi mate, they’re both very good kayaks and both very stable. The Supernova is quite a bit heavier than the Sturgeon though, so I’d maybe suggest the sturgeon as a first kayak as it’s lighter and easier to car top etc. Hope that helps 👍🎣

Hi Angus mate, I sometimes stay at Sands of Luce Holliday Park and Sometimes at Ardwell. I also like to park up in the Forrest of Galloway country park and drive down the next day. 👍🎣

Thanks James, glad you’re enjoying the content. It’s an NRS Chinook OS Fishing. A bit of a mouthful but very good. Regards self righting PFDs aren’t the same as life jackets, They’re made to aid you in rescuing yourself rather than keep you afloat if you’re unconscious etc lifejackets do do that which is why they’re self righting. Hi Stevie, I’m glad you enjoyed the video. The spray is sticky baits bait spray. Not sure it makes that much difference to be honest with you but it’s certainly cant gonna do any harm! Tight lines mate 👍🎣

Hi mate, I’m glad you enjoyed the video. They’re not the same as the pollock with an O that you get in tescos but my understanding is they’re canny tasty. I’ve never munched a pollack myself. Love a bit of cod though 👍🎣

I’ve got a 100ah LiFePo4 that I use for my other motor. It’s way more than I need for this one really. I used about 20% of it on this trip 👍🎣

Hi Davy mate, quick look on Navionics and the relief shading looks great around that island. I’d look for the rougher ground around 20-25 metre mark to the east as the island continues under water. Is it an easy launch from Queensferry? 👍🎣
Hi Chris is what your wearing a dry suit or a flotation suit, I have a galaxy Cruz and fish lochs around castle Douglas and looking to buy my first dry suit what would you recommend, and looking to fish in the sea around the CD area , have you fished that area if so where would you recommend .
It is a drysuit yes. It’s a Typhoon PS330 extreme. I haven’t fished Castle Douglas yet but it’s on my to do list! 👍🎣

Hi mate, motor has been great so far, I use a 100ah LiFePo 4 which is far more than I need. I’ve only used about 20% off the battery each time I’ve been out so far 🤣🎣

I’ve been there! I’ve just remembered I had a drive down on my way back in the summer. It did look an easy launch! Parking right next to it as well 👍
I spend more time there than Consett these days. Water is shallow mixed ground. Our caravan is at West Barr literally a few yards from the sea. I fish from the shore and last week in between storms the area still threw up good mixed bags.

how does the motor compare nova motor
Hi mate, so far so good for the sturgeon. Can’t really compare them if I’m honest as the Supernova is so much bigger and heavier than the sturgeon, This one though was great at port Logan and I’m out again in the morning so it’ll get another good run out. 👍🎣
Is it a water snake motor I have one and cany fault it had it 2 yr never any problems
I believe it is a de-badged water snake but I don’t know for sure. It’s been great so far 👍🎣

@@onthedropfishing been looking at galaxy kayaks had to drive to newcastle for my hobie from a guy kayak fishing uk would be great if you could recomend one as not willing to pay for new hobie i also fish torness and loch lomond for pike gonna try island at north berwick nice quality fish you had
Personal choice for me is the Sturgeon FX. I have and do love the Supernova but it’s a fair bit heavier than the sturgeon so I tend to use that more 👍🎣
