- A fantastic day catching cod and pollack on lures and light gear at Beadnell - plus a new channel discount code for Galaxy Kayaks UK!
A great day on the water saw lots of codling, coley and pollack to the kayak on lures and light gear with weedless plastics doing the damage this time. The rough ground between the point and Newton Buoy being the most productive as the fish move closer in for the summer.

It was a bit blowey at the end but a gorgeous day. I broke the junction box I made for my battery so yeah, back on the pedals for a session. Sorted it now though 👍🎣

Cracking video as ever Chris, you mentioned swapping your treble hooks for a single, what model hook do you use pls?
I just use my normal weedless/swim bait hooks that I use in weedless plastics. They’re just generic, I get them from eBay or Amazon. 👍🎣
Another fab video Chris, Good to see the Rabalas doing the damage, I was thinking "I wish he would show us what he's seeing on his Fish finder", Then you showed us what you were seeing lol. I've got the Hook 5 Reveal and it's all still a bit confusing to me, When I see a drop off, Have I passed it? Am I over it? Am I coming up to it? I'd appreciate a wee bit more Fish Finder content in future vids.
I’m glad you enjoyed it mate, you’re on it if your drifting, probably just passed it if you’re paddling. It also depends on the size of the feature as well obviously and if you’re drifting parallel to it you might be over it all the time! Clear as mud eh? Hoped that helps at least a bit 🤣🎣

Hi Chris. I’ve finally subscribed 👍 been looking to get into kayak fishing so was hoping for some advice. Looking for something equally at home hand paddling on a river as well as off shore. Any recommendations and is the power motor a good option as I see you often don’t use one. Ps great content and definitely inspired me to get a kayak
Hi mate, I use the motor most of the time, I’d say about 80% of the time. I haven’t had it last couple of trips as I broke the junction box I built. I use a sturgeon fx flipper drive most of the time and the heavier supernova the rest. If you chose either of those don’t forget the code OTD5 to save a few bob. The other option is to look at used kayaks on marketplace. Viking, glalaxy, hobie etc all good brands.

Hi mate, total overkill but I use a 100ah LiFePO4 because I can get three trips between charges when I’m away. You could easy get away with a 60ah though. Make sure whatever you get that it’s a LiFePO4 as they’re half the weight of lead acid and you can use neatly 100% of the charge (you can only use 50% of the charge on a lead acid before the voltage drops too low). So in essence LiFePO4 half the weight twice the run time. Don’t forget the code OTD5 if you do pull the trigger- that’ll save you a few quid. Hope that helps, any questions just ask 👍🎣

Hi Chris looking to get the Hook reveal 5 for my yak. Did you have to get the maps loads onto it after purchase and was it very costly ?

What battery do you use with the motor ? I'm looking at a 42ah car battery. Not too heavy, and has enough capacity according to Galaxy. Not sure what to house it in though ! Any thoughts/tips appreciated. TIA.
I use a 100ah LiFePO4, total overkill but I can get two or three long trips in without charging when I’m away. Hope you used the code when you ordered your motor! OTD5 😊👍🎣

It's just in that box behind the seat, the battery is sealed anyway but it doesn't hurt to be extra careful 👍🎣
What suit do you need for kayaking? Dry suit or floatation suit
Drysuit Mark, floatation suits get very heavy when water logged making it almost impossible to get back on your kayak 👍🎣

I get it from go outdoors but you can find it in loads of different places. It’s called Sticky Baits Bait Spray. To be honest though I’m not sure sure if it makes that much of a difference mind! 👍🎣

@On The Drop Fishing I'm coming up to Northumberland mate I was a beach caster but sadly I can't no more due to illness so I will be spinning with lures from now on so if you can suggest any were that is wheelchair friendly thanks mate
Blyth harbour is accessible, problem is most drive up and fish places have been closed to anglers in recent years. I think Craster Harbour is reasonably accessible as well. You get herring mackerel and coley in Blyth in the summer and the same with the odd pollack over high water at Craster, I'd ring the harbour master there to double check how accessible it is first though 👍🎣
