Fishing an Inshore Wreck at St Abbs - Kayak Sea Fishing UK - South East Scotland - Winter Cod

- A great day in the winter sun lure fishing for cod, ling and coley at beautiful St Abbs.
After a slow start I found the fish on the wreck of the SS Glanmire which lies just a few hundred metres from the shore. As usual weedless shads and metals did the damage with the ever reliable Razor Claw accounting for most of the fish.

I've just been sat at my fly tying desk for the last 40 minutes, making up a few squirmy wormies, flciked on youtube for a Chatton video to watch while I tied, some bloke catching Rainbows on pink apps, sounded just like you. And then I realised..................It is you ! Tight lines for 2023 all the best. Ivan
Ha ha! Yes, the first three vids I ever made were Thrunton, Higham and Chatton! I don’t really film my fly fishing these days as the reception is mixed shall we say…the sea anglers don’t watch them and the fly fishermen get a bit hot under the collar when you use the apps/bung! 🤣. The motor has been great Peter, it’s got a lot of poke for a 24lb, I’ve really enjoyed using it and I’m getting two or three trips from one charge. Tight lines mate 👍🎣

I’ve had a few ling close in this year. Always nice to get them in shallower water as you say. It’s a stunning location and nice to get on that wreck as it’s usually swarming with divers 👍🎣
When snorkeling few yrs back, I saw some really good size Pollock at the entrance to Starney Bay. Plus, a bloody big Conger near Pettico wick.
A conger is a handful on a kayak! 🤣🎣

Yeah or sometimes the divers pitch up. It was nice to get a few drifts over it before the tide and wind knocked the drift off. St Abbs is a beautiful spot 👍🎣
Nice vid Chris, that cod was a beauty. I wouldn't worry about bigger boats leaving the area. I've fished charter boats for years, been out and had very little, then watched one of your videos where you're fishing basically the same area, and you've had loads. I don't know if it's engine noise, wave slap on the hull or what, but you seem to be more consistent on the fish. I'm getting some of that Krill spray, seems a killer.

yes kayaks are more stealthy in shallow waters, i didnt know of krill spray, does that really make a huge difference? i might try it

Hi Harry, I'm not sure if the motor is available yet as I'm just field testing this one for Galaxy- the motor has performed really well so far.I'm very pleased with it. I'll do an update on it on my next trip. 👍🎣

Thanks very much I’m glad you enjoyed it. I don’t think it makes a huge difference to be honest but it certainly can’t be doing any harm. I use it in soft plastics/metals etc but not all of the time 👍🎣

Hi Ernest, in this vid I’m using my Galaxy Sturgeon FX with a slot in motor, the motors are not available yet I’m just field testing this one.
Rod is a Rovex Integra Gold and the reel is a penn spin fisher 2500.
I like both the Suoernova and the Sturgeon but tend to use the Sturgeon more. Fish finder is a Lowrance hook reveal 5 👍🎣

Yeah sure is ..as soon as spring comes am down there it's a good drive from glasgow but we'll worth it in the end.bigger miles means bigger fish lol
