He wasn't dumb or even that evil. He just underestimated Palpatine and the dark side out of the arrogance he learned from being one of the greatest Jedi. The same thing happened to Anakin.
Ventress even stated this out roght to him in the old comics pre TCW, I forget which issue but Dooku being just so blind never heeded such warnings and when Nute Gunray left behind the mechno chair that gave the jedi a clue as to how to fund Sidious Dooku had for like a few seconds the idea to not tell Sidious and potentially usurp him but he played the role of obedient servant as usual.
You know what’s funny. What if Sidious, Dooku or some other main character who had all these plans and a future like hit an asteroid or something in hyperspace? Or like had a heart attack? Like i know it’s plot and shit but has there ever been a case in star wars where a schemer or someone got like hit and killed by a car?
I think it was easy for dooku to overlook sidious obsession with anakin simply because dooku knew sidious was palpatine and knew palpatines relation with anakin possibly just seeing it as a tether between the 2 persons so not really seeing his obsession with anakin as a sidious thing but more of a palpatine thing
Not in terms of power but just as a character dooku is one of my top three favorite Sith Lord's after Darth nihilus and before Darth sidious. Mainly because he was a calm and collected Sith, he wasn't inherently evil. He was just doing what he thought was necessary, he even considered rejoining the light side for a moment. Something neither sidious or Vader would ever do until the end of Vaders life. He really didn't want to kill obi wan and went out of his way not to. In revenge of the Sith we see him carefully place the platform over obi wan after he throws him. Maybe that wasn't his intentions, but I think if he was trying to kill him he would've let the platform fall on its own. Dooku was respectable and feared as a lightsaber duelist which are a few reasons why he's one of my favorite Sith lords.
To be versed in the absolute of both sith and jedi. He had a unique perspective. Too bad he didn't outlive the extent of his training in the dark side. Such are the teachings of a true sith lord. Is what makes palps unique. He was willing to discard both apprentice and master alike in order reach his supposed fulfillment of sith rule.
Dooku has a good outline. Just should’ve always been on edge. There is no honor among thieves, if your master killed his master, which is how the Sith operates, Dooku should’ve always watched out for himself.
There is one other reason why Count Dooku didn't believe or fear that Anakin would eventually take his place alongside Darth Sidious. Pride. Dooku felt that his experience and mastery of the Force, along with his political power and savvy about a great many things would be tremendous assets to use as he had intended to control the galaxy along with his master. He had a lot of elements in his favor he felt that Anakin lacked, along with his perception that the Jedi Knight was becoming cocky, reckless, and letting his growing powers get to his head. Anakin was unworthy in Dooku's eyes, so he secretly rellished any chance he could have in not only upstaging and surpassing Anakin, but to also eliminate him and keep his place secured. Why risk it all for a younger yet unproven apprentice (to Dooku's eyes, anyway) when a man of Dooku's talents could still be quite useful? I could address his old age and perhaps his lack of ambition in actually being the new Sith Lord in charge instead of Sidious, but I feel that pride should also come into play in this argument.
Sideous never had equals, nor would he have ever tolerated anyone who could rival him. Both Plagueis and Dooku made the mistake of considering themselves as partners and equals of Sideous.
This video also kinda brings to light another issue regarding the clone wars. Yes Anikin was a hero with the 501st and they were sent on some of the “hardest missions” but Whenever he battled Dooku, Dooku never really tried to kill him. And most of the battles, Sidious and Dooku controlled which means they Anikin would possibly never be killed in these battles. So were they actually the toughest missions?
I really like your videos. Count Dooku is my favorite Star Wars Character. But something doesn't make sense. Can you make a video explaining why Dooku trained, Asajj Ventress and Savage Opress to help him kill Sidious? Can that still be worked into the Legends position of Dooku wanting a Sith Army? To rule by Sidious' Side? Dooku Never saw himself as the Leader of the Sith, Dooku just wanted to save the Galaxy from the Corruption of the Republic. And he saw Sidious as his means of doing that. Is it possible, that by the time of Ventress and Opress, Dooku thought he could accomplish his goal without Sidious and thus sought to remove him? Perhaps reconsidering and resuming his role as apprentice when Maul and Savage were defeated so easily by Sidious? What do you think?
Dooku never became a Force ghost as far as I know. Only very few were able to maintain their consciousness after death. Atleast that was the case established by the prequels and before the Disney canon, where everybody and their mothers are able to become Force ghosts somehow.
@@jaydeep.adhikary Yes, but Force sensitivity means nothing without training and technique. Even most Jedi who attuned themselves to the Force and trained their entire lives didn't manage to become Force ghosts, because they didn't know it was even possible, much less on how to actually do it, that was until Qui-Gon somehow discovered or re-discovered the process, teaching Yoda and Obi-Wan, but the Order was purged before they could teach it to the others. In Leia's case, it wouldn't be that far fetched, as she had some training in the Force, and more importantly, people to guide her after death, such as Luke and Anakin, but it doesn't make sense for all the others.
They all underestimated Sidious’s grasp on the dark side. It tolerates no sharing. Even when vader is at his peak, he is still just an enforcer. Sidious never tolerated anyone else calling the shots, so to speak.
Neither Sidious or Plagueis were Anakin's father. Anakin was created by the Force as a result of Plagueis' arrogance in trying to create life, in essence becoming the Force. Anakin was to destroy the Sith as an object lesson. This is why when Plagueis learned of Anakin, he was frightened.
Since dooku had darth andeddus holocron, did he know essence transfer? If he didnt why not? He had his holocron. And if he did, why didnt he use it on anakin after he was defeated?
What if all the with from the clone wasps era including anakin were all alive what roles would they have, sidious woulf be emperor, then I’d think his right hand man would be anakin and then Darth Maul and Dooku would be in charge of army’s and sections with dooku bding more organised and strategical and mauls being one of the most brutal and quickest and then smaller legion under mauls control would be given to his brother which would be big brutes and savage, and under dooku would have like maul and assassin types yet more than capable in a war ventress and another would be a big and imposing forces of grevious, sorry for all the mistakes I’m half asleep and hope you all get the picture
Remember in starwars episode 2 when dooku cuts Anakins arm off and he has that moment of "oh shit oh shit oh shit" like you see it on his face. Sidious was pissed.
You know what they should do idk if anyone has thought of this but someone should expand on the chosen one prophecy and call it "Star Wars Royalties Of The Force" we all know that Anakin got his powers of the royalty side which explains why his midiclorian count was so high but what if there were different royalty sets other than the one that gave Anakin his powers with the force what if there were different eras were one set would emerge whether it be the light or dark side of the force and dominated for an era then eventually they kill him off someone should do something like that i think it would be awesome
Dooku believed that Anakin was going to be a tool like Darth Maul, while Dooku and Sidious shared the true knowledge of the dark side between. Just like Plagueis and Sidious were the true master and apprentice, and Maul was just tool used by the Sith. I personally believe that Dooku hoped that with turning Anakin, it would push Obi Wan to the dark side, allowing Dooku to get the apprentice he wanted.
One thing I've never understood is why SIDIOUS didnt fear ANAKIN! If he wanted to live forever and end the rule of two, why take on an apprentice who was destined to surpass him??
Arrogance.....Pride......Cockiness......Any number of words like that. The way it's described, the prospect of corrupting the Jedi's Chosen One......The Force wielder born from the power of the Force itself, and predestined to bring balance to the Force was too good an opportunity in his mind, and was only fueled by his desire to corrupt and destroy everything the Jedi stood for. He may have been a rather intelligent, devious member of the order of the Sith, but like all of them, and all of the Jedi, he had his flaws, as shown by him taking on the man destined to destroy everything he stood for as his apprentice.
@@sebastianesselen8308 Well, the lore was, both pre- AND post-Disney, that Sideous has plans to live forever. The Rule Of Two states that there is a master to embody power and an apprentice to desire it, and that one day the apprentice would KILL AND REPLACE their master. Palpatine had clone bodies for himself to inhabit, Disney changed it so that these clones were inferior and would quickly degrade, which is why he wanted to take over Rey's body and become "Empress Palpatine". So you tell me, why have plans to live forever if you live by The Rule Of Two, which would necessitate your own death? Why take on an apprentice who wouldve (without his disgraceful defeat and severe downgrade) become more powerful than him?
@@shamusfarmer Don't underestimate Sidious........Be it in canon, or legend, he always had a backup plan for his backup plans! It's how he managed to hide just who and what he was from the Jedi, even when he was right under their very nose! Sidious gained power by the combined stupidly of many ppl and when he says your arrogance blinds you he ain't lying.
It's curious - what if while Palpatine was believing Dooku's acceptance of his plan and captured, waiting to Obi-Wan and Anakin to free him, that Dooku would kill Palpatine, or set in motion events, that if Dooku was was removed, that Palpatine's plan would never succeed. It all hinges on Palpatine's over confidence..
Apart from the Zann Consortium, you should do videos about the other Imperial Warlords in Legends. The Eriadu Authority, the Greater Maldrood, Zsinj's Empire, you name them. Take all the time you need.
Do a what if dooku was plagues's apprentice
How could Dooku believe he could be the apprentice ? He was too damn old to learn all of the Sith's secrets and surpass Sidious.
He was fool. Arrogant fool.
@@Mecha82 He became an apprentice to avenge Qui-Gon and reform the Jedi who had become complacent. All his bad decisions after that stemmed from dark side corruption and manipulation from Palpatine.
He wasn't dumb or even that evil. He just underestimated Palpatine and the dark side out of the arrogance he learned from being one of the greatest Jedi. The same thing happened to Anakin.
So we're still pretending that age means anything in Star Wars? Lmfao
@@dixonb.tweenerlegs4225 You're not entirely wrong, I'll give you that.
Sidious definitely means nothing from audiences perspective. in lore and character development it’s a huge aspect.
Sounds like the count forgot to count......
I’ll see my way out...
Not bad.
Stay but also see your way out
Ventress even stated this out roght to him in the old comics pre TCW, I forget which issue but Dooku being just so blind never heeded such warnings and when Nute Gunray left behind the mechno chair that gave the jedi a clue as to how to fund Sidious Dooku had for like a few seconds the idea to not tell Sidious and potentially usurp him but he played the role of obedient servant as usual.
Further proof of this could be how he was trying to convince Obi Wan to join them.
I guess in the end this line of thinking cost Dooku, his head.
I'll leave now.....
Thanks dad!
So the jedi been fighting a losing war they have no idea about.
The Sith Rule of 2 is basically how One For All works in My Hero Academia
What is sad is how obvious it was but Dooku being so arrogant due to his history that he couldn't see it till the end.
If only he heard The Tragedy of Darth Plagueis The Wise
He probably thought not that Anakin was going to replace him as an apprentice but as an ally.
Maybe
To be versed in the absolute of both sith and jedi. He had a unique perspective. Too bad he didn't outlive the extent of his training in the dark side. Such are the teachings of a true sith lord. Is what makes palps unique. He was willing to discard both apprentice and master alike in order reach his supposed fulfillment of sith rule.
Legends? CANON! ☝😣
One thing you also failed to take into account was the Dooku thought he would be spared, and that he could simply retire.
And Dooku's plan sounded better then the Emperor.
Thank you for the new video. Your channel is my favorite Star Wars channel. Followed only by Star Wars Theory and Star Wars Comics.
Sideous never had equals, nor would he have ever tolerated anyone who could rival him. Both Plagueis and Dooku made the mistake of considering themselves as partners and equals of Sideous.
Makes perfect sense. So I guess it’s safe to say that Dooku’s overconfidence was his weakness lol
I’m surprised dooku wasn’t like “Palpatine is my master” before getting beheaded since he noticed what was happening lol
Dooku: Surely the Sith aren't THAT evil, right?
Palpatine: Kill him.
Dooku; ****.
Imagine if count dooku lived and became a inquisitor for the empire
Veers he is far too strong to be an inquisitor since he was stronger than windu
this entire channel is literally 50x better just from putting it on 1.25x speed
I knew sidious spoke of Anakin because of what dooku said to Anakin in episode 3 hate & anger but Anakin doesn't use them.
I'm I the only one who who would watch these for the "If not for me..." endings alone?
Did qui gon jinn’s force ghost communicate with Dooku after his duel with Anakin?
Dooku never became a Force ghost as far as I know. Only very few were able to maintain their consciousness after death. Atleast that was the case established by the prequels and before the Disney canon, where everybody and their mothers are able to become Force ghosts somehow.
@@enki6676 leia was highly force sensitive
Mistakes were made by the Count
Neither Sidious or Plagueis were Anakin's father. Anakin was created by the Force as a result of Plagueis' arrogance in trying to create life, in essence becoming the Force. Anakin was to destroy the Sith as an object lesson. This is why when Plagueis learned of Anakin, he was frightened.
@steve119md it was good ,could have been better
Since dooku had darth andeddus holocron, did he know essence transfer? If he didnt why not? He had his holocron. And if he did, why didnt he use it on anakin after he was defeated?
4-Lom & Zuckuss, what did they do after EpIV ESB ? , What happened to Dengar , Boosk aswell ? Need some Bounty Hunter Hunter videos !! :]
I don’t think Dooku ever understood the way of the sith until the end.
Should’ve outed palp in his final moments
So..since Anakin had his left arm cut off in clone wars how is it he had the cybernetic arm on his right side in ros..? Filming glitch?
Does the inquisitors break the rule of 2? Or was the rule broken when Sidious take control of the government as the empire and with order66?
Connor Elliott the Inquisitors aren’t Sith, they’re Dark Jedi. Palps made sure they weren’t inducted into the mysteries of the Sith order.
They were weak af so weak they can't even dream of threatening the rule of two.
A Sith Lord?
Yes, the one we've been looking for
Then our worst fears have been realized.
He didn't fear being replaced because he was nobility and Anakin Skywalker was a mere peasant whom he had defeated easily
So dark sidious is Disney and the fans are count dooku it all makes sense
do not insult darth sidious ,disney is darth jar jar
@@jaydeep.adhikary No. Jar Jar is Jar Jar Abrams. The Emperor is Kathelyn Kennedy and Disney the Empire.
@@SadAndVengeful Yep ,an better analogy.
Vin Diesel playing Darth Bain in a Darth Bain trilogy can save Disney Star Wars! Who's with me? Make it happen Disney!
The only time anakin will ever have the high ground🤣😂
I can see two reasons:
1.wanting a Sith army
2. He himself was going to betray Sidious and make Anakin his apprentice.
For plural possessives and names ending in 's', it's apostrophe naught, not apostrophe 's'.
Why are they shooting lightning into a bowl?
Reed Costello Sith Sorcery. They were trying to break Yoda when he was on a spiritual journey to learn how to become a force ghost.
Did he mention that the rule of two was at an end?
I still like to know who is General Grievous and how and why he became a cyborg
Dooku believed that Anakin was going to be a tool like Darth Maul, while Dooku and Sidious shared the true knowledge of the dark side between. Just like Plagueis and Sidious were the true master and apprentice, and Maul was just tool used by the Sith. I personally believe that Dooku hoped that with turning Anakin, it would push Obi Wan to the dark side, allowing Dooku to get the apprentice he wanted.
Sidious: Deeeww it Deeeww it
With all the retcon and resurrections the Rule of Two has been proven false too many times to count so he probably wasn’t sweating it.
He doesn't wanted to end the rule of two that's bullshit who say's that ? He wanted anakin as apprentice that's the last piece of his plan
Some of the higher ranking members of the order, like Yoda and Mace Windu may have been suspicions, but they didn't have any definitive, ironclad evidence until Anakin came to them to tell them about his conversation with him, because he kept outsmarting them at every curve!
@@19TheFallen I KNOW! I know he's like that... But I dont know what his backup plan wouldve been with a non-handicapped Vader... I almost wanna say his story was pre-written with the foreknowledge of Vader's diminishment (bad writing)... But hypothetically, how could he have delt with a full-power dark side Anakin? It'd be an interesting alternate history story line...
Soduku basically saw Anakin as becoming the next Ventura, Maul, savage Etc
I left a like for *I guess no sith army then*
