I hope they add some of the retro formats somewhere down the line for ptcg live, being able to craft the cards would also make it a bit easier to aquire past decks since legacy on ptcgo was quite pricey

My favorite format is probably the EX era established in the Jason Klaczynski Retro PTCG blog. Lot of viable stage 2 decks, and interesting engine play with pokemon win cons. Too bad it is still hard to play in paper format, and apparently in ptcg live I am seeing.
Legacy is by far my favorite format (HGSS - BW)

@@timmyphillipi4566 I've been missing it too man, Legacy basically shut down awhile ago because there's nobody playing it. Can't get any games anymore.... I also traded my Tropical Beaches away to a friend of mine because I stopped playing for awhile, so a lot of my Legacy decks aren't playable anymore (most if not all stage 2 decks)

I think I get what you mean by there being both diversity and no diversity. There have been consistent adaptations within the Lugia and LZ archetypes, where there are a number of small changes to adjust to different meta situations, but due to their power level / gatekeeping nature, they keep any rogue decks from ever being consistently successful. The meta may be stale due to lack of new options, but it hasn't necessarily been completely stagnant since there have been changes.
MD-BLW is the format where Sableye could donk turn 1 and pokemon did a emergency rotation. Prob not the best imo LOL

During the 2019 format almost all single prize Pokemon were fazed out since they couldn't do enough damage and ADP decks. The only ones used were important draw and energy engines.
Adp was a baaaaaad for the game
SSH-BRS saved the game fr, Arceus to keep Mew in check, manaphy to save single prize decks and a lot of underutilized vmax being viable because of arceus
The post rotation Sword and Shield era would have been great if Fusion Strike and Silver Tempest never existed. Those two random sets which each introduced some broken archetypes that do not pull a single thing from the recent games ruined everything.
I remember playing in the Tablemon challenge in 2020. Pablo made those tournaments because of how sick and tired of ADPZ everyone was. It was a forced SSH on format just so people could have fun playing in a format without ADP. ADP was one of the worst cards ever released.
I started playing competitively in 2006 and can say 08-2011 were the golden years. Solid S tier. Bring back power spray!
I love expanded and I bet I would have loved playing legacy. I didn't get around to playing it in PTCGO before it died out.
2020 was also an awful year for most MTG formats lol. Shoutout to Lurrus and Winota
In my opinion, GLC is THE best format ever. It's basically Expanded, but without any of the problems with Expanded.
You don't have to deal with any busted stuff like ADP or Lugia VSTAR, you don't have to worry about games going too fast, the limitations require a much higher level of creativity than most other formats, it's amazing. Don't get me wrong, it isn't a perfect format. I personally would love to see ACE SPECS be unbanned since most of them never truly got their time to shine outside of the 3 that were really played, Computer Search, Master Ball, and G Booster. Even still though, it really just opens the door for much more creative deck building, cards that would never see the light of day get a fair shot at play, and even fun stuff like special conditions can make for an entire deck. When's the last time we saw Poison being the main focus of a Standard deck, or a high profile mill deck? GLC has it all.
I hope it becomes officially supported in some way. Maybe not tournaments since the toxicity that would breed would be insane, but just like, releasing a product for it here and there reprinting old cards like Colress so people don't need to sell a kidney to buy them would be great. Have stuff like Full Art trainers get reprints so people can bling out their decks on a budget instead of shelling out hundreds for a single card. Will that ever happen, probably not, but one can dream.
I literally started playing when darkness ablaze came out lol. I hated adp zacian so much, I would try so hard beating that deck with non meta decks lol

Honestly i think this format actually breeds for more creativity, but Lugia really holds this format back

Legacy is the most fun for me from the formats I've played.
How could you put the worst format of all time in A!? Sabledonk was so bad for the game they did an emergency rotation to get rid of that deck…
While I never played the format, I have a soft spot for Noble Victories since it brought in a card I still love to this day in expanded.

@LDF PTCG I forgot that's the set that introduced N! But no, my favorite is Durant. Mill may not be as good as it used to be, but I still have fun with it.
I have ADHD, the vast lands of expanded is where I dwell....
Sorry but I'm all for 2-3 prize Pokemon this game is too damn slow it's the reason Yu-Gi-Oh became my primary game I don't wanna sit there and play a card game for 45 minutes for one round smdh overall Pokemon is just too slow I'd rather just get rid of the old school cards or separate them entirely y'all can play GLC or something lol
