Aziraphale remembered meeting Crowley as an angel, but when he meets him in the Garden of Eden, he doesn’t know his name. Crowley never tells Aziraphale his angel name (we don’t know it either) or at least he didn’t tell him in the scene we saw. And when they meet in the garden of Eden, Crowley is a demon, and therefore he has a demon name (pretty sure “Crowley” wasn’t his angel name) so Aziraphale doesn’t know his name. Which is why Crowley has to introduce himself.
Actually the sequel that gaiman and pratchett wrote/planned out is more likely to be season 3... there is js a need for a transition from the end in season 1 to the beginning of season 3... so here's season 2

What struck me in episode 1 was the simmering resentment from Crowley toward Arizaphale during the "So did I!" yell. It seems like a few years of unfettered access to each other has made Az's more selfish and stubborn qualities get under Crowley's skin. At the coffee shop, Crowley says Az calls for three reasons, when he's bored, has done something clever he wants to share, or there's a problem. Hence, Az doesn't call to ask how Crowley's doing... and doesn't call to say, "Hey, I miss your voice. Want to have dinner or do something together?" Plus, Az comments that it's nice to tell someone about the good things he does since he no longer reports to Heaven. So, Crowley is there to serve Aziraphale's ego, and when Az doesn't get what he wants, he gets huffy and dismisses Crowley, like when they argued over Gabriel being there, and Az's attitude was if you're not going to help me "you can go." Note: Crowley left the bookshop after he was already dismissed by Az. In my opinion, though the apology dance was cute, it was also degrading since Crowley didn't really do anything that needed an apology. He's just tying to save stubborn Az... again. Don't get me wrong, I love Az, but this is like one of those relationships where one person puts most of the effort into the relationship and the other person starts to not even appreciate the effort, because it's just expected. That's when a couple needs to have a talk about balancing out the effort to show more respect for the person who's been putting so much into it.
It was Adam's father who had the SIDRAT license plate in season 1. Crowley's is 'curtain' backwards. As in 'the end'. I love the way Tennent pronounces things - "You were right, you were right, I was wrong, you were righ*T*" I loved season 1 because I loved the book, and I loved the care that Neil put into making it faithful to the book. I loved season 2 for the opposite reason. This is a new story for all of us. And it was a delight to discover it all. I love in both seasons the wonderful nods to Terry that Neil sprinkled in for us to find. I know he misses his friend. I miss my favorite author. Spotting the little references made me feel he never will be truly gone.

I love the more intimate, slice-of-life vibe this season gives. It really gave the designers and producers room to work and show appreciation for detail. Also: yes, Azi is serving some *major* top energy this season, so buckle up 😏
this is just my personal taste and opinion but i was always most interested in the angel/demon duo in the original story too. i read the book years before season1 dropped and even back then i ended up rounding my ratings down for it because, to quote myself here "i just wish the story focused even more on aziraphale and crowley. they are the most interesting part of the whole story." this was way before i even knew people were shipping them BIG TIME or that how years later they would cast my most fav actor (david tennant) to play one half of the duo. to me the original story was always good, but spent too much on side-paths i wished we had less on. it's probably an unpopular opinion in the og fandom but i can't help it, i always thought this. now that season2 is out and it's focused on them i feel like my original opinion, to me, is even more validated. literally not a single soul can convince me that season1 is better than this season exactly because of this aspect. i love how the focus is locked even more to them and we get some very nice character reveals and exploration thanks to it. the side-characters are still present and very loveable, but i feel like neil (and terry, since they planned it out together) very aptly know that the heart of the story that we need more of is a/c. the fact that michael and david are such powerhouses with startling chemistry on screen is like a cherry on top, must be a dream come true for any writer. anyways, sorry for the rant. i was very happy to see that you'll be reacting to season2 and bummed a bit that you got spoiled in comments. BUT. i think you'll find yourself enjoying this season a lot regardless, especially hearing your awesome comments about the character work already here at ep1. there's a lot of thought that went into it and i completely agree with you that it's very character-driven. the amount of splendid metas i read since it dropped is never-ending, i honestly feel like i read at least 2 each day that made me scream at my screen. it's a lot of fun when a show can do that successfully. can't wait to see the rest of your reactions to this and hear what you think!

So when crowley was an angel, he probably had a different name and that name was taken away/changed so aziraphale may have no recollection of meeting crowley as an agel?
