Crowley didn't lie to Shax - he didn't say *he* hadn't spoken to Aziraphale in years, he was responding to her inquiring about what Heaven might have said to Aziraphale. He said "They haven't talked to him in years."

That’s so funny. Neil’s first solo novel, Neverwhere, was originally a show he wrote for the BBC, and the series was………um, low budget. And maybe low effort. So Neil would say that he wrote the novel as a way of saying “This is what I wanted it to be like!” And that’s how he got into writing novels.

fun fact a sequel actually was planned by terry pratchet and neil gaiman, but they never were able to write it :) so season 2 (and hopefully 3) is the story that they planned beyond the first book

Neil said that season 3 is going to be the sequel story to the first novel* he had planned to write with Terry. He said season 2 is an original little story that's sandwiched between them. *The working title of that novel would have been "668: The Neighbour of the Beast."
@Sabbathtage yes, and he shared that story long ago, but someone read that and stole that title idea and wrote some book with it (to be able to sue Neil and Terry, I think), so Neil has since then been very careful with which things he shares with the fans 😔 Neil has said that both he and Terry had already planned the ending for the GO sequel (season 3 of the tv series), so we will be getting exactly what Terry and Neil both dreamed for it 🥰

Because with that logic they can switch pretty much every actor who is playing a supernatural being and it works in that world👏👏👏

Neil Gaiman wrote season 2 using the ideas he discussed with Terry Pratchett. So technically, this season still has a bit of them both in the story 😊
