I'm a horse trainer. My view, if people don't like the method of training that is literally saving lives and bringing peace to the animal, they are always welcome to volunteer all the spare time they spend typing hate to go and train the animals and people themselves.

Preach sister. My mom runs a livery yard and is very strict about how people ride their horses and treat them. Gets alot of hate in the community for being a bitch. But her horses are the happiest and most well looked after horses as she does what is best for them even if people disagree.
The biggest problem many people have is they see Dogs as Human Children, they are DEFINITELY NOT the same thing. So many people think reason works on animals, it doesn't ..... if it did work that way, they would reason with each other, they DON'T!!!
People who think correction is cruel and you should only use treats/positive training have never watched a momma dog interact with her pups. Tom says "be assertive, be clear" words to live by!
They're the people who have kids that act out just as badly as their dogs. When did saying "no" become a bad thing?
when I was a kid my parents got a rottweiler. I did a lot of research into how to educate the dog and asked my parents to get me a prong collar and i got excellent results correcting my dog with it. Even as a kid I was able to use it as a tool to educate my very powerful dog, I was around 11 or 12. The dog eventually would walk by my side without a leash, we would go on hikes trips to the lake and many adventures together. He was a massive dog and initially very dominant when he got closer to a year of age, but i put some work on him and it really really paid off, he was my best friend and i miss him lots

That’s awesome. I’m a Rottweiler lover myself, and also had problems with my boy when he was under a year. Strong will doesn’t even begin to describe it! He’s the best boy now, listens and loves everyone and every animal. But that doesn’t happen by accident!

I’ve had the prong collar for 3 days. Yesterday, not only did our young female GSD, heel and not react to dogs and people going by, but she and I had fun doing it! Mr. Davis, you are poetry in motion/A master educator.
I’m so stoked on getting that collar. my pup is just a heavy puller who cares less about what I do because it’s a ruined family dog! And it’s way harder to train humans, even with my fully trained dog they will never listen 😂

Don't ever feel guilty for something someone else tells you is inhumane but will be the first to recommend euthanasia for aggressive dogs.
@@jasincolegrove4798 my god yes! Then they say "well its your fault your dog is aggressive" like no dog is just aggressive for no reason. Majority of the time its poor socialization/socialization without the proper training or corrections, ptsd of another dog attacking them, or its just from poor/unplanned breeding.
Raising a kid without boundaries and discipline is a disaster for society and the kid. Ask any school teacher. Same for a dog.

@@kieransmith8362 even if Tom Davis can work with a TV network, it might unfortunately not even let him feature these tools to not scare most of their viewers (who don't use balanced training) away.
The dog training industry, today, is sadly influencing more naive people to only use positive reinforcement since science has "proven" it to be the best and only method, though it still doesn't help dogs like Hades.
Lesson learned? Don't name your dog Hades, Diablo, Lucifer, etc. 😂

It's not all the owner. Different breeds tend towards different traits and some of those traits lead to aggression easier than others. For example, a golden retriever doesn't need to be socialized as rigorously as a german shepherd does. This is partly because GSD's tend to be higher drive and less trusting than goldens.
@@suezsiren117 you're just proving my point more. Its the owner not the dog. Let's say I decide to adopt a Boston terrior, being a good dog owner id do research before hand and find out that particular breed has health concerns with their eyes disloding and be prepared to deal with that. Just like any reasonable "aggressive breed" dog owner would know that its not aggression its socializing (as you said) and understanding the energy and exercise needs of a dog. I've had the honor of owning 2 pit bulls 1 Doberman and 2 Rottweilers in my life all were adopted from shelters and as gentle as could be. I also was unfortunate enough to have a Chihuahua which was the most vicious dog I've ever met. So yes I get upset when I see dogs such as the pit bull ( also known as the nanny dog) classified as aggressive just because of ignorant humans.
People literally cross the road when they see me with my German shepherd who isn’t threatening in anyway. Then he comes home and gently plays with my toddlers
My husband fell and broke a rib from my shepherds reactivity. He's a small shepherd but is fast and very strong. Especially when he reacts so fast.we use a hermsprnger.. .helps so much. Thank you for the tip. Love the videos. I like to binge watch them. Great motivation

We just started taking our dog to obedience training. I watch your videos to reinforce what we learn in class and reinforce my technique as a handler. Appreciate what you’re doing so much!
I finally realized my shepherd reacted the way she did because if I saw another dog walking towards us I automatically put tension on the leash. And that sent her into attack mode.
Once I relaxed, NO pressure on the leash, she is way better. I’d say she still has work to do but it’s me, I need more work 😂
My German Shepherd was the same way. She was 100% acting on my emotions. I really had to put myself in check when I first got her. I was just nervous with her being a rescue and not knowing her history. Good luck!
I can absolutely relate to your comments. My GS and I learned together, as we live in Ecuador and loose street dogs are the norm. We are consistently confronted and I had to get my act , and my energy together to remain calm bit readied as they came at us. Today, we are a team and both of stand tall and planted when approached by other dogs. Since my GS, is now older he has learned how to give “the look”, which makes dogs tuck their tails and slither away.
My dog has pulled me to the ground like that before. Really reminded me of this dog in the video, but she would react to people walking by too. I have been watching all your videos and following your advice step by step and she is like a new dog! We actually enjoy our walks so much now and she doesn't pull at all, even when another neighbor dog comes barking out their window she focuses on me and our walk. Herm sprenger prong collars are a miracle and I always recommend your videos when friends have issues with their dogs as well. NO BAD DOGS 🙌🙌

Your videos are very good. I like your clear communication. I like the filming quality. I like how you are sensitive to other people's point of view rather than a "my way or the highway" approach that many people have. You're understanding and respectful of other people's perspectives, while maintaining your own and gently bridging the gap.
One thing that a trainer said the made me really "think": The dog is a different species than us. We domesticated them and we owe it to them to train and guide them in a way they understand. People direct and guide or "dog" goes rogue with whatever triggers it from his environment. Be the Director. and the lover when appropriate.

I used a prong collar for my rescue dog. It saved my life and his. He used to pull me everywhere, including in the street. If I didn’t solve the problem, fast, he would have been put down.
I no longer need the prong collar and he is a perfect walker now. I’m so proud of him.
My shepherd was very much like Hades and Jay. On a walk she would often try to dislocate my shoulder to charge another dog. Then I found this channel, great training videos bought a prong and an ecollar. Now all people and dogs are safe and I get to keep my arm💪😎✌

Duke and I will keep you posted! God bless you. I love Duke so much, I just knew I wanted more for him and he's just to much for me. He's 60 pounds, 2 yrs old not nueteured and I'm 5ft tall 95 pnds. I have a 2 year old GSD & these prong collars is one of the best training tools you could ever have, Same as the dog in video he just hates other dogs. I’ve tried every type of leash training & we both failed miserably and ended up both so frustrated with each other by the end of a walk training ect. Those gentle pops with with firm voice commands & he is a completely different dog on a leash now.

My GSD is like this with people and dogs, sadly I can not take him for walks. He is VERY fear aggressive. I want so much for him to be like the dogs I see on these videos.
I feel this🥺 I wish I could walk our pup Cuda. He’s a Pitbull/Great Pyrenees/Akbash. He is not great with other people or dogs. He dragged me across the street once and I actually have a scar on my knee now since the road ripped a hole in my sweats.

@Ken Walker, I have a 2 year old half Pitbull half Great Pyrenees. He’s an incredible dog and super with our kids but has started to realize his strength on our walks. If he sees another dog he can fire up really fast. I have found through watching these vids that if I actually start out our walks with a few quick turns and leash pops that he comes to attention and throughout the walk I do that with the same results. It has helped immensely. I can’t remember which video as it was awhile back but I’m so glad I saw it!
My thing is what makes them fear aggressive?? Idk what done for him to be like this. All I know he wasn't like this til I was in an abusive marriage and his female dog was very aggressive but they got along very well.

Very cool! I use a Prong Collar everytime we go out in public. My GSD was aggressive with human's and dogs but with time and watching Tom's and 3 other trainers he has improved 75%.. Still working with him Daly.
I have a very strong 6 month old female dobe, she's the same size as a male her age but man she can pull (had 3 others previous and none of the were this strong) and she's been so HARD on walks. Pulling like crazy, just wanting to see and meet another dog. This area has so many dogs being walked. Anyway I got the herm sprenger and praying it helps. Just got it a few days ago so doing the walks in the backyard for now to get her used to it but will be a test once she gets excited. She goes mental and loses complete control when she sees another dog, not that she wants to attack but its a nervous anxiety and wants to meet and play with most of them. She's not as bad if I let her meet them but I can't do that with most of them as I don't know the owners and some of them seem scared.

Seeing this makes me honestly realize how I forget how strong they actually are, my boy is well trained and extremely gentle with me in every way so I forget how strong he actually is. There's no give, they can lift their dog by the scuff of the neck but refuses to even consider what you're doing. Prongs are illegal here.

You don't need a prong collar if you are training your dog from a puppy, unless you just never work with it. Feel like a prong collar is more situational, only really necessary when your dog has really bad leash habbits.

It boils my piss that you have to defend yourself for disciplining dogs every other episode. People who think they can have a dog this big just doing what they want whenever they want can't honestly care about that dog. They must know that left unchecked this kind of behaviour can get the dog taken away and put down?

Right? He isn’t beating the dogs with a bat. The things he uses doesn’t hurt them, and it’s something bigger stronger dogs need. When dogs are puppies, mothers correct them by nipping. Dogs this big, if we tried the “neck poke” thing ceasar Milan does, does not work for me. I have a 95 pound gsd, he doesn’t feel it at all. I’ve tried lmao and I looked like an idiot. I was against the “e collar” because I thought it shocked them, but ever since I’ve started watching this channel I’ve learned it doesn’t even hurt him, so I bought one and it has worked WONDERS.
People who say he’s “hurting” them probably have tiny ass dogs. When you get strong dogs, they need discipline. I’ve heard him explain it like they’re kids. You don’t want them to fear you like you beat them, but you want them to not want to get in trouble.
People that make comments like that have never had a 100lb Mal on the end of a lead that wants to eat anyone that looks at you.
There are several dogs like this in my neighborhood. One shepherd’s owner never took the time to train, and now the dog is muzzled. Another’s dog’s behavior got worse and worse, but now it looks like he is attempting to train him, ineffectively. I want to give him this channel info.

9:45 to10:30 is a fact. A working line german shepherd needs not 1 hour not 2h but about 4 hours of exercise or more especially when they are young. Physical and Mental.

Barbara Smith most working line types of dogs are not for most people, they can’t handle one and don’t have enough time to care for one. Especially malinois but also Dutch shepherds and some German shepherds depending on their pedigree.
That’s the damn true. I breed/train/own DDR/Czech shepherds and they need equal mental and physical work. My younger dogs get run a few miles with my bike, then go on a walk/ off leash run at the park with my retired shepherd. A run at the park involves hiding their toys and sending out them to search for some mental stimulation. Then a walk in the evening. That’s a normal day, even on a chill day you can neglect walking the pack at least once haha.
can you divide it to 2 hours in the morning then 2 hours in afternoon?.

If she’s aggressive or scared of other animals, this will only make her worse.
Your doing an amazing job love the videos. I thought why a prong collar its cruel but ive changed my mind after watching the amazing changes of dogs on your videos. Some people are cruel with using a prong collar wich ive seen this gives the collars a bad name. its not the tool thats bad its the user of the tool. Love the videos keep them coming.
These transformations are usually temporary as the root issue is never addressed.
These methods have killed people and dogs, do not use them.

Is there off camera training, it is amazing how fast the dog's respond. How long did it take to learn your technique ? You don't pet the dogs during training, is that intentional?

Hi, first of all, thanks for the videos! I have a question. These collars are sadly made illegal in our country. I can see in your videos the prong collars are very effective for a quick transformation. How would I tackle this without use of the collar?
Hi I would use a Halter. I am a trainer in Australia and prongs are also illegal here. Some people dont like halters either for the same reason, there has been information saying they cause neck injuries, rub, etc etc but like every tool, as long as it is fitted properly and used correctly there is no harm to the dog at all. Do they like it at first no, do they get used to it and work with it, yes, Use the same way as Tom does with the prong by giving a sharp short pop. In Australia I use the Black Dog brand. Hope this helps.
Try using the halter just for training. When the dog got it, stop using it.
For me, a normal collar has perfectly done the job
NEW - Hi, I've been watching some of your vids this evening and really enjoying them and getting a different perspective on prong collars & what you're calling e-collars (to me that's an elizabethan collar lol so a bit complicated there). I am letting you know I'm here so as to help some shelter or rescue (I run a small Rescue myself and it's so much harder with Covid to raise money!)
I also sadly have a very reactive Amstaff mix altho perfect in the home except for barking at dogs walking past and people coming to the door - so I guess I should really say she's perfect with just the family, my other dog and a LOT of cats in the home - but as soon as we leave the house she's pulling until she tuckers herself out, lunges on the leash and has no recall off-leash if she sees another dog or person. She used to be ok as a young dog (she's now 6yo) and my small dog (13yo) was also great to walk off-leash but at some stage they began to feed off each other and now they operate as a pack and my big girl by herself is reactive tho the little girl by herself is ok. There is a story behind it but too long for here. I have to pay someone to walk my Staffie girl now because my medical condition doesn't allow for her behaviour.
So thanks for the interesting vids - maybe if I watch enough, something will sink in and I might be able to start her in the back yard where she's more manageable!
