What a horrible thing to do to a person? You'd have to be a fully qualified dog trainer like Will not to go into Flight or Fight mode. Your reaction was normal for any creature or human.
Watching videos like this has made a HUGE difference in my dog's reaction to other dogs. I realized that he was constrained by a leash but thinking he needed to protect. When I started putting him in a sit if he got ansy and putting my right side/leg between him and the other dog he quickly became much calmer around other dogs as we walk. He knows he doesn't have to protect me while "tied down."
The dog didn't need saving its doing what it's bred to do if you want a friendly dog go get a labradour or poodle but don't get rid of the breeds traditional standard heritage dogs are so soft these days it's stupid
I have a huge amount of respect for the knowledge you have educated yourself and others with. I also have a ton of respect for the love you obviously have for the dogs you work with ❤️❤️❤️💯
It's a little weird that in the end that there was no decently long shots of him interacting with anything that would make it nervous and no other dogs.
As this guys says, the problem with this dog is the interaction with other dogs, the man in the video shows a dog with agressive behaviour against other dog and after a calm dog walking by his side, but he doesn't show the dog interacting with other dogs
That was a great dog. I'm glad that the owner was wise enough to recognize that both of them needed training. That tail was wagging throughout the, "aggressive," display. It was just needing some guidance. 😍🐕🐾
I had a golden retriever yellow lab back in 2020, I’d owned a dog before but I’d never actually stepped up and trained one prior to this dog. This dog was MASSIVE. He was big for what breed he was. Anyway, He was super food aggressive, he was always dragging people on the leash, running away, jumping on people, fighting with my other dog, doing everything he should not be doing. He started having seizures at about a year and a half old so we couldn’t have him inside because when he got up he would potty in the house (not to his own fault of course). We built him a dog house to go outside, and it had a heat lamp for winter and a few frozen water bottles for summer. His bad behavior only got worse, because after he got kicked outside no one wanted to go out and play with him because it was hot out. I’d never trained a dog before this. I taught my Boston terrier how to roll over, that was the extent of my knowledge in dog training. I stepped outside with this dog after two weeks of owning a horse. (At the time of the training my dog had been allowed to continue his bad habits for nearly five years). All I did was assert myself as the boss, and in less than two days this dog went from being food aggressive to trying to share with me. He went from dragging people on the leash to me being able to take him ANYWHERE without one, other dogs walking around or not, he would stay by my side. He went from running away to running back to me if I got too far off. He was the best dog ever, Rest in peace Buckshot ❤️
That's great but if you ever have another dog with those issues try seeking help from a vet about the seizure part. Seizures can potentially be really harmful
I don’t much about you, but I’ve watched a few of your videos now. I’m impressed. The key word here was ‘timing’. No verbal communication with animals is based on understanding of their behaviour (rather than anthropomorphic misunderstanding) and timing of pressure and release. Great to see it done well.
I love GSDs. Grew up with one owned by a relative and she was the fiercest, most loving and loyal girl. I’d love to see you do a video about the Australian working dog breeds - kelpies and koolies and cattle dogs are some of the most wonderful breeds around ❤
The difference is he can’t because putting prong collars on those types of dogs doesn’t help especially herding breeds I would know I owned an Australian cattle dog also known as a blue heeler. Prong collar didn’t help anything but it did bad damage to his throat from him wanting to run and meet people for attention and to meet other dogs… switch’s to a harness had no problems after that with pulling issues with the front clip ones then got him walking without a leash or harness and he was great. Fear and pain based training doesn’t work well on emotional breeds like herding breeds and spitz breeds and a lot of others as well only makes it worse.
Love your videos. Thank you. Quick question though. My male Rottweiller is very reactive and aggressive towards cars driving by when we are out for a walk. Even with the lead pressure correction he manages to maintain his focus on the car, till it comes close enough for him to lunge at it, he is a big boy so its hard to hold him back. He doesn’t pull when on a walk, he just reacts to cars. Would you please try make a video on correcting a strong dog that is reactive to cars. 🙏🏻
My foster dog used to do that. I started walking him on traffic heavy roads for two weeks. They learn quickly they’re not able to lunge at every single car. Now, he doesn’t acknowledge cars at all.
My German shepherd mix (76 pounds)started to do that on our neighborhood walks. There's not a lot of traffic so as I see a car coming, I get him to sit and redirect his attention onto me. He's conditioned now that when he sees one coming, sometimes even before I do, he sits on his own and waits for them to pass. Also, if you can't hold the dog back, this is a very dangerous situation and must be addressed. Get an e collar or a prong collar and learn how to properly use them in case of an emergency where you lose control and can't redirect the dogs attention.
@@kiwigirlNZ it seems to me that this is bad advice. If your dog is reactive, putting them in a situation that is even more stressful and dangerous isn't a good way to "teach" them. Build them up to clearly understand and follow commands properly before putting them into more dangerous situations. They already stated that they had a hard time holding the dog back. Why risk hurting the dog or being unable to keep it from being hit before you know that it fully understands what is required?
@@FAFObozo no it's not necessarily a bad method to apply at all, if your dog is an unsocialised dog for example the best thing to do is get them to be in public or sounded by dogs on lead and lay down or some other form of submissive state. Apply correction tugs when required etc.
Before we had to abandon our dog(man i wish we couldve taken him with us) he used to always bark on cows moving though the neighborhood due to us living on the outside of the city this happened 1 to 2 times a day and we werent able to stop his mighty 100% german sheppard barks
