If the class was only meant to heal, it would be called "Healer." Its called "support." Its meant to support the team. Part of that is reducing incoming damage, by killing the other side.

I agree that Moira is not the best support, but solo queueing as support in low ELO makes her a must pick. She is so self sufficient due to fade and her self healing, so in ranks where damage and tank are just throwing themselves at the choke point, it helps to be able to escape if a genji or reaper flanks to kill you.
Also, the amount of times I had to literally push with Moira bc the tank was just slowly backing away fro mthe choke point is too damn high (in silver/bronze or QP). I am sure in top500 she isn't as good as Ana, but nade and sleep are meaningless if people immediately wake up slept targets and ignore purpule ones. (also, yeah her skill floor is higher)
Zen, bap, Lucio, mercy, Kiriko, and Ana all deal with these threats easier though.
Zen one bursts them and can one shot reaper out of dark step
Bap has a high jump and deals absurd damage and can buy himself time to do more damage with I. Field.
Mercy can fly away
Lucio can run away.
Kiriko can either teleport or straight up out damage them if they're a good shot.
Ana can sleep them and run away or out duel them with anti and a high damage shot.
@@SnailSnail-lo4pm all of that requires skill and/or teammates to help. Moira doesn't do it the best but she does it the easiest while not needing a teammate to teleport to in Kiriko's case for example. On top of that, she doesn't need to aim as well because biotic grasp locks on to characters within a certain cone. I'm not saying she's the best, just that she's the crutch for low ELO players.
@Joseph Spencer zen one bursts aren't hard to hit and Lucio can just run with an amped speed to get away, no need to wall run or do anything funky.

Only Zen, Lucio and Mercy can heal forever. Everyone else has a resource or cooldown that must be replenished or reloaded.

What killed me the most about that first Moira part was that the guy just said "Yeah, the orb does a lot of damage" but not only it does not damage as much as he makes it sounds like, HE FORGOT TO SAY THAT YOU CAN ALSO CHOOSE TO HEAL YOUR TEAMMATES WITH IT

yeah I play support at the exact same rank. it's not always bad but it can be rough sometimes with how petty people get when they feel like I'm not healing them enough. also I understand how Moira might not be top 3 healer at top 500, but I think she's definitely top 3 at least until diamond. my dps are always struggling to secure kills in plat, with Moira I can at least help clean house while still having top healing in the lobby for my out-of-position team.

Also his ultimate isn't superior except for clearing an area, pulse bomb is a one shot on stick that can't be stopped after its activation. Death blossom can easily be stopped and countered if the enemy is good enough.
What flats doesn’t understand is if there is a character that does 300 damage per second but requires high skill and aim and a character that does 100 damage per second and requires very little mechanical skill the high ranks will obviously say 300 is better than 100 but in low ranks they seem broken. I got shat on by junkrats for 5 years before I learned how easily counterable he was.

They should revert the tracer and soon to be genji nerfs, then just get rid of the dmg passive for something that benefits flankers less or no passive at all tbh if we’re going to make dmg like soujourn with dummy carry potential anyway

idk why they didn’t just make it so that the extra movement speed from the first passive they made disappeared when you enter combat. That way it doesn’t affect you in your ultimate and so you aren’t too slippery. Like you need to be out of combat for like idk 5 seconds or something?

The tracer damage nerf only makes sense if they were intending to also buff her recall to also restore blinks. The way she is right now truly makes me sad, as she was the one dps I grinded in OW1. She had the most fun high risk/high reward play style and now she feels like she’s all risk with no reward. You truly have to stick 50% of your pulse bombs to make her a viable carry pick, which is something even owl players struggle to do…
or do not apply ult charge speed cut to her. yeah, she was passively nerfed already in OW1, but now they just straight up killed her. pretty sad.
i also remeber that experimental change with recall-blinks - was rather confused when didn't find it in OW2 patch note. Only dmg nerf. like wut. and you have fcking Sojurn that's basically Soldier on steroids.

They have little idea how to work with mobas in general cuz OW still have laughably few heroes and that;s the main problem of the game.
You see LoL and DoTA are both ridiculuosly variative and great MOBAs. Both have only 1(!) map but over 150 heros. Cuz that's how MOBA work - variability is achieved throug heroes not maps really.
Facing the same heroes every game makes games the same no matter the map. That's why OW becomes so boring so fast.
Facing different heroes every game makes game different even if the map is the same. That's why Dota feels new for such a long time
Maps in OW are tiny so it's good to have more than 1 ofc, but we have like 20 and that's already way more than enough.
OW desperatly needs more heroes, not maps. Like 10-12 heroes per year at least for the next 3 years. Otherwise it's gonna be a boring ass shitshow again. Ofc blizz are not gonna do that cuz they're incapable of.
Doing maps is muxh easier cuz it doesn't take much brain and creativity to invent and balance. Hero - is the difficult stuff to create.
Nevertheless, when DOTA was assembling devs (players enthusiasts basically) were able to create 50+ heroes in a year.
Surely OW characters are harder to animate but Blizz is actually an $80bil megacorporation so yeah, they totally can do 12 heroes a year. Also graphics and animations in OW are pretty simple tbh. Nothing special.
So yeah. Unfortunately we all know they're just gonna suck out our money and don't do shit. That's how it goes with new Blizz. 3 heroes a year best case scenario and game will be dead in 1-2 years again.

Stupid question. Could you do a video/stream explaining team comps? It's one thing to be told what a good/bad comp is, but I feel like no one explains why it's good/bad. I personally don't understand why certain heros work better with others and how it can change. It would be nice for a skillful player who is brutally honest to explain it to the community.
I agree whole heartily with this except for lower than gold rank. Gold and below meta doesn't really matter much as long as your fundamentals and game sense is good. Plat and above is where it goes from personal best picks to meta picks. So I say yes to this but those like me who are gold and below should just listen and take it with a grain of salt.

If you charge up Winston's alt fire and hit it right before doing the melee animation cancel, you can get up to 130 damage. There's a small delay before you can start firing tho.
I didnt play OW1 but ive been loving OW2 and play mainly support. Im 20 hours in and ive had literally one person complain, just one, and it was a phara when I was bap lol. Gotta say, this and the spectate bronze stuff youre doing is top tier (and helps ignore fake advice :') )

The Reaper reload thing. I learned it way back in the day and even though it apparently is a myth, it still feels faster to me, so I still do it. Also reloading + 30 damage is better than reloading with 0 damage.
I've seen the reaper tech from a couple different videos. I was a reaper main when the game first came out(OW1) and that reload tech used to work. It hasn't worked for literal years as it saved a lot of time on reloading which is why it got removed. I still have the habit of doing the reload but not sure where the information got revived from as those videos are years old and if you actually search up reaper reload cancel the videos that show up are the ones after the nerf and it doesn't work.
Which is funny cuz I was told it worked way after the nerf lol. The only reason to do it now is to get a free melee.

I have played both League of Legends and CS:GO on EU servers and let me tell you, Overwatch chat/voice chat is literal heaven compared to those. Like I would 100 % rather listen to OW voice for a month non-stop than CS voice for an hour.

idk, the way OW players are annoying just hits different. Instead of yelling at you and threatening to kill your family or something, they just spend the whole game complaining and complaining, usually blaming everything on one player from their team and nobody else. And the player taking all the flame is usually doing well lol. It's just how most of the matches are. They are more "polite" when being assholes to someone, but that doesn't make them less annoying to play with.

It does feel like no one wants to play Support, however, Support is probably the best role since forever. Holy cow, I love playing Kiriko, Moira, Lucio, and Ana. Yes communications do tend to end in people verbally harassing Support roles and it even double when a girl plays support.

I usually play support,and dread the moment i see a Moira pick,because of TikToks like this every fucking Moira player is borderline braindead dps. Its insane,i had a comp play last night where the Moira had 4k heal and 8k dmg where i had 10k heal. The whole team was frustrated (me included) because its already hard to keep them alive,but doing it alone is almost imposible. How can people play Moira like that and watch your team died kills my soul and braincell every minute. Worst is,they get kill kredit for touching anything ,so at the end game they can say " look i did good i had 40 kills" , yeah no,you touched 40 people when your team dies every fight. Back in OW1 there were dps Moiras but never this many,its disguisting.

That's because supports are their to support the team, it does not mean only heal. If you only heal as Zen or Kiriko or Lucio or Moira and not try to deal damage then you're just an idiot. I always play Support the way Support should be played.
15:48 As a Bastion main, the rework not only helped balance him out, made teammates have to focus on protecting him less, and also made him more fun. I've mained Bastion since I started overwatch, and he's still just as vulnerable to a rushing monkey or any long-range character as ever.
I hate bastion because at mid range one of the most deadly DPS and if supported by a whole team and at map that are thight in low rank is just a game of break trough there defense and if they have junkrat or torb is nearly impossible to beat at low rank especially if the team is not communicating,
but I'm guessing that at higher rank he get punished a lot more?
@@weebslegacy It doesn't matter whether it's low or high rank play, I'm not even a high ranking player but Bastion still get's lasered by widow or sojourn, and at close range he still gets shredded by reaper. He's much more reliant on good aim in recon mode or else he's just an occasional 6 seconds of no peeking. Try to get behind cover when he's in tank mode, and if there is no cover than rush him. It's harder to hit tank mode shots when they are jumping around you.

The little pause Flats does when someone says Moira is a top support is akin to a hitstop in animation.
And it's just as satisfying.
As someone who mains support I don’t even disagree with the Moira or support takes. Support feels rough right now. I went from playing daily in Overwatch 1 to barely even weekly in Overwatch 2. I’m just not having fun anymore. The game feels very deathmatchy and supports feel like they have a hit out on them. Which support does well in 1v1s and is survivable? Yeah, Moira. Say what u want but she’s the only one I feel like I can escape with when everybody and their mama is chasing me around like some deadly game of tag 😂 i love Bap but I def live longer with Moira. I honestly can’t see why anybody would voluntarily subject themselves to the torture that is support right now.. And this is coming from a support main.
I even got called out for not healing as Moira 🙄 i had 9k heals at the time while our Bap had 5k.. why am I the one being blamed?? Because you saw me throw a purple orb once while you were dead? I was pissed. Such a thankless job. Running around trying to keep everyone else alive while they point the finger and moan at you once they inevitably die ugh
Support is definitely a lot more skill, healbotting is not viable anymore and you have to be good at 1v1. Bap is strong as hell in 1v1s tho, idk what you're talking about. For reference, I'm an ana main.
@@AsiwaritXR I didn’t say Bap wasn’t strong (he’s still my 2nd most played and 2nd most all time) I just said I’ve been surviving longer with Moira especially against very aggressive flanky dps. The amount of effort it takes to be a decent support now explains why I’m put into a lobby faster than I can blink. I mostly play Bap Lucio and Moira. My friend who’s also support mains mercy Zen and brig so we cover most of the supports… except 2.
Kiriko is still new and I haven’t put enuff time into her to dare bring her into comp yet. I’ve tried Ana many times and I thought my experience with Bap would translate over… but I’m horrible at sniping and ur as good as dead if I’m Ana lol (I’m plat 3 btw)

For the comments about the support characters and how people were saying there was quite a bit of variation i think it was a mix of them being old comments from early october almost a month before and playoffs and people in ranked picking whatever they want not just meta.
animation cancel for reaper is still pretty good, although it doesn't actually make you shoot faster, you could sneak in a melee while you reload. Also if you melee and then look in the top left corner of your screen your arm covers your head hitbox pretty well
Reaper used to be able to animation cancel his reload. They added the delay when they changed his soul orbs to life steal
On the one hand, you can give that guy a point for at least knowing that Sojourn is really powerful.
But on the other hand, you would literally need to be living under a rock to not know that. so it's kind of hard to give him credit for it. (especially considering the other picks for "best dps")

correct me if i am wrong, but you can't fire right away even if you leap and hit right before you land to cancel the animation with winston.
you are cancelling the animation but you are not cancelling the time before it lets you take action again, so for example you can tell by shooting if there's a delay after landing and cancelling the melée.
this was made to balance winstons possible dps output, but it does work for a good decent burst window that winstons usually don't have access to, and now you got the 50dmg rail gun charge ontop of melée and landing damage which is 125dmg total which is more than using normal weapon damage before melée cancelling into landing damage that was 100dmg total, and only jumping and melée which is just about 75dmg total.
an actual animation cancel is usually when you cancel an ability into another one or one into the same one without time penalty preventing you to do the next move.
for example genji, you can cancel into a swiftstrike from a left click reducing how many shurikens you actually toss out but you get to swiftstrike earlier.
not every move is animation cancellable but a lot are.
for example brigs whipshot, you cannot cancel out of the whipshot with a shield bash, but you can cancel out of a shieldbash with a whipshot.

So with melee cancelling reloads. The second half of your melee is cancellable with primary fire. It does work but you have to cancel reload and then cancel melee
The problem with lucio, he is made to make his teammates better, except that when the teammates are bad lucio will have no impact .
that is why it is not used before diamond. players don't know how to take advantage of speed .
after the placement games, I reached platinum, the players don't even know that they just have to stay close to lucio .
Funny Story: I was chasing the enemy Lucio as Bastion, but it was at the tail end of my Turret Duration so I had lost my massive damage output and I'm still adjusting to Bastion's lower fire rate on his AR (for the record, I hate it). However, I did end up keeping pace with him and killing him. I didn't realize what had happened until I saw a green glow against the wall in front of me. I spun around and there was my Lucio standing behind me. What had happened was that he saw me chasing the enemy Lucio, wall rode to catch up to me, dropped down behind me, and hit his Speed Boost to allow me to keep pace with the enemy Lucio. I didn't know he was there until after because I was focused on hitting the enemy Lucio and because he dropped down from above.
exactly, that's why I think a lot of players rate Moira as a top 3 support. she can output a ton of healing and damage which isn't contingent on your team to follow up on. as a plat support the most frustrating thing is knowing how I should be playing and positioning but usually not having a team that knows how to take advantage of it.

He’s just a fun pick and I like moving my orbs around, it keeps me active and keeps me using my abilities. When I play DPS I get so locked into holding the fire button I forget about everything else

the reaper reload melee thing, its actually useful if ur right in the enemies face as you have a biiiit more damage, i used that a lot when i first started playing overwatch 1 lol
21:47 The Winston animation cancel does not actually do more damage, rather it does more damage in a burst of 30+50 jump pack damage. There is still the same left click lockout on the primary fire like you showed earlier with Reaper. The melee jump pack animation cancel is still useful for securing kills tho. But it does not do more damage overall.
it does do more damage what are you talking about? you kill people like half a second quicker. Maybe less than that. Its not by a lot but you most definitely kill people faster. You’re locked out of your primary for a very short amount of time
ya i think everyone started doing it during moth meta cause winston was very good to cancel out the mercy healing at the time, and in that meta burst > sustained damage
He's not saying the move itself does more damage... He's saying the animation cancel is quicker, so you can go back to attacking quicker, which in turn does more damage in a given amount of time.

I do understand the not wanting to play support, but not for his reasons. I used to enjoy support in ow1, but the meta was entirely different. Now I'm not a competitive player and really only play with a friend or two, but here is a situation I find myself in far more often than not. I enjoy zen most, but I often find myself getting dove by the enemy moria, and a dps or two, sometimes a tank if it's someone like Winston or dva. While I'm trying to get away or fight them off, the rest of my team is playing "tickle the remaining 2 or 3 enemies while still dealing less damage than the support". Just feels like cause dive is so much more popular in ow2, if you are a support like zen and your team doesn't pay attention, you are going to get dove by 2 or 3 enemies most of the time. But again, that doesn't happen when you are actually good at the game and play with people who understand how to peel and have map awareness.

Flats what you aren’t considering is that a lot these characters that are bad in League are really annoying to play against in lower ranks. Ignoring lower ranks especially with a lot of new players is bad because its extremely hard for new players to get into this game with characters like Moira and hog.

I actually love playing support but sometimes I want a little break. I play Mercy and I’ve been practicing being more of a Battle Mercy because sometimes people don’t expect me to pull out the gun! Haha I love it. And I play Moira and I’ve been getting into Kiriko and Lucio! I’ve only been playing for maybe a month and a half XD
But support is really fun if you can also do some dps and be aggressive at times otherwise you just get ganked by genjis and sombras XD

Being a Genji main I spam "I need healing" a lot because many times you parkour half the map to find an isolated squishy to dunk on, go back to my healers at 1hp and would just sit there until they notice my presence instead of throwing 200hp my way and let me happily fuck off.

You know the solution, right? Health packs. That way the healing is on you and only you without having to worry about anything anyone else is doing.
Not saying the healer is right for ignoring you (Depending on the situation they might be. Overwatch is complicated), but pubs are unreliable by nature, the more you can rely on yourself for the more consistent you'll be.
@@kevingriffith6011 this exactly. Main reason why I main Mei. She’s great at stalling and she has an invincible 4 second heal. She’s not the best but stalling 4 seconds each and every time is extremely crucial to winning or losing a game(payload, robot). The self heal just allows even more time (too bad mei won’t be back until next update ) 🥲
@@andrewaguayo115 That's also what makes Soldier so good at playing off-angles. He's fast with his sprint, long range enough to not stick his neck out and he doesn't need a support's attention to bring himself back from low health. If you're going to play front-to-back as soldier then you're better off playing Sojourn or Bastion, his only advantage over them is that he's more self-sufficient.
In regards to that support one, I kinda agree. It was significantly worse in OW1 but it’s still not overly great in OW2 (the timers on the roles lie, DPS will say like oh you’ll queue less than 2 mins, try 5 or even 10). In fact, part of the reason I main support in OW is specifically because I refused to play tank (stress) and the DPS queue was abysmal, meanwhile the support queue was a breeze. I’ve had plenty of times both now and back then where I’ve wanted to play DPS, but I have to wait (back in ow1) almost an hour for a game. (Again, ow2 is a lot better with the queue, but it’s unclear what the cause for that is)

Honestly the healer vid isn’t too wrong for gold to diamond low key, the one thing they didn’t talk about is how good dive dps are, making healers (especially those without escape abilities) be in a living hell scape (and that’s ONE of the reasons lucio/kiriko are hard meta cause they have amazing escape potential)
Also lucio is just worse at lower ranks because nobody knows how to utilize his speed boost and people will sometimes actively flame you for using it, so you either play the dispenser or get shat on
As much knowledge as Flats has about the game, tracer is definitely not as bad as he's making her out to be, there's a reason why she is consistently seen all across the t500 list's 3 most-played heroes. I'd say she is still top 5 despite the nerfs, it's just more difficult to get value on her, but in higher elo players can still get value with her consistently.

FYI Winston doesn't have an animation cancel; there's the same delay as with Reaper's reload before you can start firing your tesla cannon again.

Yes! Some of my greatest support moments are just thirty seconds of slapping a Discorb on someone, watching my team melt them, and doing it again! The ping feature is phenomenal for that.
