Last time we tried to make a tank healer we broke the entire game for a year.
My man literally missed just one shot on the sojourun and nailed the shot on her just before. I'm convinced there's basically no sane human beings on tiktok.
Not to mention the sleep and 8 shots on the enemy and the name AND the heals for the baby Dva. Also the 2 shots he missed were unscoped which are projectiles which are harder to hit.
He actually hit one of two shoots on the soujorn and soujorn was killed by the enemy sojourn with mercy Bost so he could not have saved her anyway

@@astupidlylongnamethatstoolong Even Mercy is supposed to spend more than 50% of her beam uptime helping getting kills by using Damage Boost. People undervalue Damage Boost big time. Sojourn's Railgun with Damage Boost is extremely dangerous, even with only a body shot.

@@OatmealTheCrazy Overwatch 2 system is really placing people in their correct ranks, I have those games were its flip a coin cause I get teammates who dgaf but I do my work (tank) and I see slack I.E. 3 targets in open less than half, but no one follows up or is focused else were. It happens more often, just like OW1, 2 will have its learning curve as well, Im mid gold pushing plat so Im seeing most of the players in this rank correctly placed or so new that the MMR system is still learning them

Yesterday I had 4k more damage (and kills) than my DPS playing Soldier when I was Orisa, and he was flaming me for "not knowing how to tank" lol
@@BrofUJu one disclaimer: while you're probably right for soldier, if anything, for many of the DPS, raw damage is not a good judgement metric, their TTK is going to generally be lower, meaning people won't be around getting healed as much and so on.
Looking at K/D is often more important

@@BrofUJu got flamed the other day by a gold DPS main for saying rein isn't a dps?? For reference I'm diamond with rein in open queue had. 85%+ wr up until diamond with rein. And i still had 30k damage blocked and highest dps (like 11k nothing crazy) but no i made him lose because rein use shield rein tank rein lmao I hate low level players thinking tanks only tank and healers only heal. Insanity.

I like how the new players call supports "healers" and nothing we say can convince them otherwise.
I mean out of habit I call them healers but other games I play like ffxiv healers do lots of damage and other stuff too so I dont even think of it as a weird thing

Not only because of all the reasons above, but because the category has the cross symbol, exactly like the Red Cross, which in emergencies or aid kits means aid, relief, madication, etc.

it's not a new thing, most people think supports aren't meant to do damage, mainly heal and use their utility on their teammates.
i see it all the time and have been for the last 6 years, that's really why people don't play supports because they think that's what you are mainly doing or are supposed to do.
and when they try to go healbot and lose they blame their team.
this is why i play zen, it's merely to demonstrate a point to these people.
As a support main, I used to think of them as "Healers" because I played Supports that focused on keeping people alive through focus fire, like Mercy (I know her healing is low, but it was reliable for my low ranked self), and Moira (Pre healing nerf Moira could basically make people invincible). Now that I've started playing more Supports, and now that I'm basically maining Ana and having some success with her, I've started more and more to think of them as "Nearly pure UTILITY characters who's main function is to ENABLE their teammates". This enabling is done mostly by healing, sure, but you tell me sleep darting a Roadhog who just landed a hook on your Dragonblading Genji and thus saving his life isn't something a Support is supposed to do.
The moment the guy pointed at Lucio and said "pure healers who dont deal any damage" I knew his ass plays nothing but Unranked
My man has not seen a single minute of Lucio gameplay, guaranteed. Hit him with the Eskay, Frogger, FDGOD, RedShell, ANY REDDIT LUCIO. The entire Lucio community is clowning on this fool.

idk what had me gasping more: saying mercy can't keep up with dva, describing bap as a mini-tank, saying lucio works best with mercy, or not picking mercy with pharah. i've never heard such a series of bad takes in such quick succession

I was high plat in Overwatch 1 and placed bronze 1 in Overwatch 2. Enemy Moiras are absolutely BAFFLED when they try to dive my backline and I just turn around and shoot them with a gun.
@Crustyprawn 157 knowing what picks you can safely get is like 99% of the skill in the game. For pretty much anything below diamond, straight up diving the back line when the enemy team has just started an engage is a free kill 95% of the time.
I also still often keep up on heals just fine and the enemy is down 1/2 players
I didn't even tho the ranked bug thing was actually real and i ended up being really sad i hot high silver and just quit but i started seeing that everyone would just play 7 more to get their wins and get their old ranks so ig i gotta do that now to get my low af diamond 💀

Wouldn't change anything that much. Not like lobbies are filled with a bunch of coaches. Chances are if you're playing in gold then your teammates are too and just as bad whether they've been playing 3 weeks or 3 years.

Bc my rank didn't show in-game they chose to blindly accuse me of being lower rank. Although idk if my rank showing would've made a difference there. They probably would've called me boosted or said something else toxic
I told my team to not let the enemy team walk onto the objective for free, and someone decided to throw because of it

Playing support is just pain
It doesn't matter if you heal a lot as support. You can literally press tab and see how much you're healing, but if someone dies, they will still blame you for not healing them. And if DPS are getting no kills and you're getting ANY kills, they get mad at you for not healing. I've been playing support with my friends who are low rank, and their aim sucks and cant kill pharah. I usually play ana, and many times I need to shoot pharah because they cant fuckin hit her, and then they get mad at me for not healing them. If I ignore pharah and just try to heal them? Pharah either kills me and they die anyway, or pharah kills them because they can't aim. Literally cannot win. Oh yeah, and if I kill pharah after one of them dies, they say I should've been healing them instead of playing DPS ana.

people really really really need to start to understand that it honestly does NOT matter HOW you win a fight, as long as you win it, people seem to think that because he didn't heal his teammates he's not "doing his job" (and he literally tried to, just missed, it happens), your job as support is to help win the game however you can. A great resource you can provide to your team is elims.
Exactly, you wouldnt get mad at a widowmaker for getting a kill because she literally only has one job, but as soon as an ana gets a kill they wanna say she's ignoring her role

Support is about weighing what is best for the fight to be WON, not what will keep the fight going for the longest.

Hearing this just hurts. I play across silver, gold, and plat because I enjoy each role and like being a flex player. But these comments make me cringe because I try to do the advice given by you, emongg, ML7, and Jay3 to at least keep up in the game, and I just get text spammed or the rare occasion yelled at for not trying to do bot stuff or play what low ELO believes is broken characters. I'm also on console, so the flaming is really hard there, at least from my experience, though I do have some PC as well.
Imagine playing OW on console. Console players think Pharah is broken because none of them can aim lol. I can only imagine what hell a silver console lobby looks like. Scary stuff.

Yesterday, I had a game where the other team's moira had 9k damage, 28k healing. My team's moira had 9k damage, 8k healing.
its kinda funny because if you go on reddit theres a huge backlash against frustrated supports posting their frustrations. if you aren't in GM or whatever, there is no safety. you are going to get flamed for not healing enough, dealing too much damage, letting someone die who ran in alone, whatever whatever.

I'm actually getting triggered. When I was still coaching actively it just felt so awesome when one of my students would come back to me and say they've made progress. That's the only time I feel in the Overwatch community where knowledge is actually respected. It saddens me how wholly toxic this community is and over the years has sapped my desire to put the hours and grind into reaching Grandmaster. Nowadays I'm lucky if I can get two hours out of the game a day, if that. Too many people who play this game are just...not fun people to be around. Those tiktok comments, man.

I’ve started coaching as well for my friend group. I’ve climbed to Diamond 3 on support and I’m on my way to masters since my win rate is still above 70% but I want to help my friends climb too. I’ve been doing vod reviews and coaching them live as they play. When they apply the skills I teach them (quickscoping, holding high ground, managing tempo with ultimates) and win games I just feel so elated.
These are fun to watch we need more of these.

Seeing those comments on tik tok felt so good cause that’s my daily experience as a support, I swear in those lower lobbies ever since overwatch 2 came out and attracted a bunch of new people if you do ANYTHING other than shoving your healing into your teammates or use any other utility in your kit it’s an easy way to have at least 2 teammates flame you and spam “i need healing” the rest of the match, it doesn’t even matter what hero you play if you play lucio and ever hit amp on speed song you’re throwing, playing baptiste and shooting and healing simultaneously like any guide will tell you to do? “Dps bapp” like as someone who’s been playing since 2016 kindly shut up if you unironically play reinhardt and tell me to stay on heal song all game

Support has to:
1) peel for other support
2) track ults
3) track enemy positions
4) be aware of all aly positions
5) keep tank sustained mid brawl
6) keep dps and support out of 1shot range
7) block high value ults or abilities
8) harass or kill enemy support or sniper
9) take shit from 3/5 of the team
Telling a support to "just heal" is actually more wrong than telling a dps to "click on their heads"

Honestly brings me back to the times of 2016 when we all first started playing Overwatch. Everyone was bad and no one really understood the game. It's like getting to look back at our old selves.
Just be kind, they're new and learning. As time goes on, they'll look back at these moments and be a little embarrassed, but as long as the community grows and the game can hopefully improve with us, this is a good thing.
kinda, but when everyone is bad, ranks are relative to that level, so everyone who figures something that works better out first, climbs. With an already established game, these people are just setting up others for failure.
To be honest, a lot of these people are just bandwagon idiots who will follow the herd. TikTok is all about following trends as well, so expect these kind of people leaving to play the new CoD or the new Madden game.

Supports really get no respect in this game. There's a reason why we have insta-queues. (+ there are just not enough interesting supports. We are 2 players and have 8 supports to chose from. Tank is one player and soon has 11 heroes. DPS players are 2 players and have 17 heroes.) I know they said there are new supports coming, but that's first in mid 2023. The season 2 hero should have been a support. The queue times are gonna be f*cked in season 2 and 3.
As a support player I don’t mind the instant que and bonus XP
