    Thanks this finally worked for me. For those people who don't have a vice or cable ties like me, I just used by body weight and put my knee on the tire to hold it in place while I used the levers to pull the top part of the tyre over the rim.

    I tried getting a local bike shop in Portland to view this video and have my Xiaomi tubeless tire fitted onto my Gotrax XR Ultra rear wheel rim but they were too afraid to commit to this. So I took it upon myself.
    I gathered some very little supplies from the local hardware store; a 5 gallon bucket, 11 inch zip ties, and a 12 inch bar clamp. The workers at the ACE hardware shop didn't quite know themselves on how to tackle the installation but they agreed that my set-up was sound.
    Fast forward, I warmed up two pots of water to just under 200 deg F and let the tire soak for 10 minutes. You need just enough water to fully submerge the tire. I had with me two big tire irons from a previous purchase and a can of WD 40 just in case i needed lubricant.
    Guess what, folks. All it took was ONE zip tie and two of three tire irons I own and the tire went onto the rim in less than one minute. I kid you not, it's fucking doable and I have little to no experience with bike/scooter maintenance (although I have experience as a maintenance worker).
    5 Gallon bucket of 200 deg F water (soak for 10 minutes -- THIS IS CRITICAL AND WILL SAVE YOU TIME AND ENERGY)
    One zip tie (I didn't even need the damn Bar Clamp)
    Two tire irons (not sure if you can get away with just one)
    Whole prep and execution done in less than 15 min.
    Thank you for this video. I've seen countless others and this was by far the most efficient process. I was worried I'd need a table mounted clamp like in this video but I did this on my kitchen floor.
    For safety reasons, just don't heat the tire in an oven or microwave or have it inside one of your pots. Get a bucket and wear some work gloves while you're at it.

    • @bob-ny6kn
      @bob-ny6kn 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I found that placing the tire/rim into a vice and one crowbar (tire iron) was enough. The heated water or soap/cleaner/wd40 was not necessary.

    Thanks, locking a point with a strap was the key for me. However, I didn't use WD40 inside for fear the tyre would slip while breaking, just dishwashing soap on the bead. I also used the old tyre as base to work on to keep everything flat.

    This is the best tutorial hands down. Others make it look like a nightmare, which is not true at all. The microwave thing and lack of proper tools in other videos will put anyone on a wrong track, where nightmares (and even possible trauma) are to be had.

    To the haters in the comment section:
    1. I took my daughter's scooter to 5 different bike shops in FL. They all refused to fix it. Being mechanically inclined, I chose to fix it myself.
    2. I used silicone grease instead of WD-40.
    3. The vise is a must! I tried pressing without it, and it was a nightmare.
    Thank you for this video!!

  • @cooljw
    @cooljw ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Thank you for showing the method! It worked well for me. Tips: make sure you heat the tire - microwave is fine, use liquid soap or oil as lubrication - also on your tire levers, think of the process as snapping a big thick rubber band onto the rim. Stretch that tire to get it over the rim and don't be shy, you're not going to break the tire. Next up: I try to do the front tire without a vise.

    The tire says
    60/75 - 6.5 (10×2.5)
    And its hard to find on amazon or ebay and how to look for one that fits
    And i need my scooter to be able to go to work and back or i would have to walk every day around an 1hour some tes more since i gotta do a lot of heavy lifting at work and my body takes a lot of damage.

    Wow worked great on the rear tire of my Gotrax Elite! Thirty seconds and POP!. Small centering time and done. i do have have to say though. Tried this on my front tire with the hub motor in and had to muscle it the old fashioned way. Not the vice method. Front tire wheel and tire wouldn't stay in the vice for the life of me. Kept popping out. Perhaps removing the hub motor might have made it easier but i doubt it.

    OK the microwave thing is absolutely untrue I heated these same tires with a microwave, it was fine. Heating with a microwave works better if you soak them in water first and then heat them but it does heat even if you don’t use water. Microwaves (and I’ve heard this before) don’t just heat things with water in them, microwaves bombard The molecule/Atoms with light which strikes the electrons and moves the electrons to a higher orbits which causes the molecule to move other molecules (obviously it’s a lot more complicated but that’s the basic premise)i.e.heat. It has nothing to do with if it has water or not.

      Idk. Ask seller if there is an option with solid tires. With pneumatic ones- keep pressure high enough otherwise the tubewill be chewed by tire.

      @DenisBikeMechanic  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a bit harder. You need to clamp it in vice.

    What about the front tire?

      Same thing but be careful because of the short wire.

    • @DenisBikeMechanic
      @DenisBikeMechanic  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      hi. Not really it has some more inertia but not sufficient. I didn't feel difference.

    No one in my whole city is willing to do this… they should make it easier to replace.

      In summer time it's okay. But in winter time rubber needs some warm up.

      A bit more difficult because power cord doesn't give much play and you can't unplug the wheel. So need to do it with caution.

    • @denisgrishin261
      @denisgrishin261 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@The.Peace.Pixel1, you're right. they are heavier and require more energy to accelerate.

      Denis Grishin yeah, I replaced both tires in my scooter with solid tires. The top speed went down by like 10% but the range is what has the decreased the most by like 25%

      Mines came with stock 6.5 inches solid tires, everything is true plus a much more scarier and rougher ride
