Your video kept me sane. I tried all the other videos; microwaving did nothing, there is another video of a guy boiling it for 10mins and using industrial motorcycle levers, zip ties, lubricant, and even then it looked like he was struggling a bit. I boiled the tire for 20mins like you recommended and went straight to installing it, not giving it time to cool, I used a bit of Vaseline around the rim and metal bike tire levers and I got it on in under 3mins. You're a life saver.
I boiled it for 10+ minutes, used alot of vaseline, no tools. I was scared to do this after watching the same videos you mentioned, but glad it worked out so well! 🙂 I changed both after the first one was so easy (the punctured one)
I installed the “techpunt” solid tyres front and rear because i was having flats a lot. My weight is about 85kilo and at first they were a little bit more uncomfortable as the airtyres. Later i also installed a “monorim V2” front suspension and that compensates very well.
I dont mean to be offtopic but does any of you know of a way to log back into an Instagram account? I was dumb forgot my login password. I would love any assistance you can give me!
Don't buy those wheels, if you need solid tires buy those with single holes. I've tested both and on both you loose power and speed, solid with one hole up to 2 km/h, honeycomb 3-4 km/h from max speed and accelerationr. But when comes to compare those honeycomb and single hole tires, go for the single one. Honeycomb are slower than single, the profile of honeycomb is a lot flatter, they need a lot more power to accelerate. And also, this boiling process is a bullshit, I tried this, not much of a help, since tire goes cold in a minute. When it goes to change those tires, everything you need are those tire levers, at least two (i have 50 cm tire levers, solid metal). I've changed tires from regular to single solid, and than to test honeycomb from single solid to honeycomb. No warming up, no lubricants. Just two tire levers. Little tip: rear tires are relatively easy to change with zips, but front you have at first stick tire perpendicular to the rim, and than use levers, to streach tire in place both sides, watching not to damage the power cable.
@@michaelshar7660 Hi, I understand your question in two ways. First, you ask if scooter goes fluently on solid tires. So yes on both single and honeycomb, it goes fluently on asphalt road, but on paver walkway it of course shakes. It's solid rubber so there is no air suspension at all, there will always be some shakes. If you like, you can always replace factory grips, to those foam grips, I use Kellys Foam grips, very comfortable ( but you have also to install handlebar extenders, because bicykle grips are longer, and those can just fix your acceleration in max position - not safe, extenders gives this margin between acceleration and the ending of a foam grip). Gonna upload extenders on thingiverse. Second probably meaning of your question is if it shakes all the time even on asphalt? Yes? If you suffer those symptoms, than one or both of your tires are not placed correctly on the rim. After you mount your solid tire on a rim, you have to take a fat in diameter screwdriver, and put it in every single hole, and fit the tire in the rim by swinging tire left and right, so the internal tire edging fits perfectly internal rim edging, if those two arent aligned and placed correctly, you will feel hard shakes every wheel spin, because tire is decentralized by few mm, it's barely visible. It will not place correctly by itself, watch distances between rim and holes, than you will find the spot, where it is out of align, or just go with screwdriver and drag that tire by every one, or second hole, and it will fit ok. I had that issue few times, it's easy to test if everything is in place, by pushing tire off rim, it will move a little off rim and snap back instantly, you will also hear, that it bumped into this rim edge. Do this around wheel both sides.
@@NYinSD Yes i feel u, i have same problem. But today tested solid tyres. Thats some bullshit, cant go fast, cant go offroad. Suach a vibrations on joints i bet is not healthy in longterm. Daily i drive xaomi pro 10'' with inner tube tyres. Comfort is great when its not flat, also scooter is very responsive to handling.
Great vid. I own pro version, 2.3k km, got flat on original 8.5'' tyres like 10 times, then i upgraded to 10'' tyres, still getting flat, im sometimes so mad about it. Im am 75kg. And today first time i rented G30 with 10'' solid tyes...so the ride was a nightmare after my xaomi expirience, riding on 10'' solid tyres on G30 i understand that my xaomi is much better riding, yes i still get flat, but i choose comfort. I cant imagine how would be driving with 8,5 solid. atleast xaomi is lighter
The solid tyres are really uncomfortable over even a slightly rough surface. I'd strongly recommend well protected neumatic tyres. Thanks for the vid. Very comprehensive.
A very helpful review. I've already had a flat tire twice in the last 6 months of usage and I'm considering switching to a solid tire, at least for the rear wheel. Changing the air tube is a real nightmare and I'm scared even to think I'd have to do it again any time soon. I have some doubts though. You mentioned the battery life decreases and I've read somewhere that solid tires can have a real hit on the battery life and most of all on the speed when you ride. Is that something you can confirm? Also, as I weigh almost 90 kg I'm concerned the solid tire will give me a lot of vibration on the uneven road as some sections of the ride I usually take to work can be somewhat bumpy, with small holes and gaps between the pavement tiles. Would you advise against switching to solid tires in such conditions? I'm also considering sticking to pneumatic tires but using the sealing liquid some users recommend. Have you tried that? And one last question. Can you remove the solid tires easily to switch back to the pneumatic ones if you need to? Thanks
have you noticed a difference in acceleration or top speed? I'm sure there must be some sort of change. I went ahead and ordered one since I was tired of flats.
iCaliTube I have this already installed on mine. I’m noticing a 2-3km slower average speed. Also struggling more on inclines. Eco mode is also not working as well. However I don’t get punctures anymore
BartFett Productions I would say yes, but I am slightly on the heavy side. So for me it’s impacting my speed and acceleration. I am now thinking of 10 inch tyre for the rear, with the 10 inch mud guard and kick stand kit.
@@teagleUK have you tried downloading the various apps out there to increase top speed? overriding the system, there's a video on Dough Hnut youtube channel
Hi I just bought two of these tyres and it said do not boil as it can alter the compound of the tyre and I ca verify that as I boiled some more tyres a month ago and it made the rubber that soft that they were unusable hence I am now fitting these and using tyre levers and about 10 of them ties or plastic things all around the bottom of the tyre and around the wheel rim until it leaves one with a short distance of the tyre to lever into place ,but do make the ties really tight as you can get them and the tyre will go on no trouble
Changing 10'' tyre inner tube take for me aproximetly 15min now its a bit easier than to do a reapair on 8,5, i dont care if its front or rear, i even not putting back the moldings/ plastic covers cuz i know im gonna change it soon :D previous month got 5 times flat
try slime tyre repair - I use it on everything now - wheelbarrows, trials motorbike, bike, scooters with tubes and will work on tubeless >>> just use a valve key to open valve then put it in ... that staple is no problem for slime. it would add maybe 100g max on that size tyre. Also check out mtb sites they often run a fluid inside tubeless tyres to auto repair punctures.
Wouldn't thicker tubes and cst tyre, used with anti puncture tape inside the tyre between the tube be a better idea. Also adding slime to the tube should just about cover it.
Hello, I have been avoid solid tires because I worried it will damage the weld of the battery terminal, would like to know if you still using the solid tire and any update with the performance.
Hi Sir how often do you get flats? I am newbie at eks but travelling 17 to 19 km one way but haven't gotten any flats yet. The advise to me by my seller is to always make sure that the tires have enough pressure. Im afraid I'll get flats soon so I am contemplating to get a solid tire also 😂
You can buy pneumatic kit wheels, where the tires is already installed. It's only about 10 usd more expensive than the tires itself. Changing tires would be alot easier
