Klefki has arguably one of the best defensive typings in steel/fairy, and prankster.... Deoxys-D I feel suffers the same plight as shuckle, monstrous defences with a meager Health Pool... imo Deoxys-D would have been a much better contender if they reduced his offensive stats from 70-->35 and increased his base HP from 50-->110 because no-one was using him for offence anyways....I wonder what a mega form of deoxys would look like? 😅

Vanilla Deoxys is pretty interesting to me. It might be the best bad Pokémon of all time. It is undeniably incredible in battle. But it has a form that’s just the exact same thing but better. I can’t tell if that was cruel or brilliant.

I really like all of the animations for Deoxys in Gen 4. Especially Speed and Attack. Attack's idle animation is just flailing its limbs around like "I'm gonna be doing this now. If you get hit, it's your fault." Speed's attack animation has it whip twice and then do "spooky wiggly arms".
This Pokemon has my favorite battle theme of them all. It's got just the right blend of awesome and surreal to be a soundtrack I always come back to, both in Firered/Leafgreen/Emerald and in ORAS.

The idea of not being able to tell what Deoxys form you're facing in a GBA battle is terrifying to me, especially with no Team Preview. It's seems like how people expected Zoroark Illusion to be when people were first speculating about that.

I love Deoxys simply because it's sort of "The Thing" of Pokemon, it's a ruthless sweeper or an untrippable tank, or an adaptive beast, but it always has a massive weakness that its victims can attack if they want any hope of killing it, sweet design that really compliments its playstyle.
12:40 this might be the saddest thing to ever happen to a Pokemon. Imagine never seeing play but unable to drop down to a lower tier for being too strong. And to add salt to injury, it was due to yourself in a different form. Being normal sucks
@@Skullhawk13 Yeah movepool would be something. But having defensive moves make it switch to say, defensive form. Just recover and get a ton of defense and tank a hit whilst also recovering half your health. Though I'm not quite sure how they'd have to divide the movepool. Maybe start as Normal form, change to speed for some support moves, defense for others, attack for any attacking move?

@@gamesnig Not likely, actually. The Pokemon that are in the Ubers tier are extremely powerful, and having base 50 in any stat is already considered to be bad at best in any other tier. To put it into perspective: Deoxys Defense has a base 50 HP, and isn't even considered to be a good defensive Pokemon anymore, so what good do you REALLY think that the extra base 30 in it's defensive stats makes that big of a difference?
Just another testament to Gen 4 having been the pinnacle of niche and balance and complete Pokemon battling experience. Really truly ANY Pokemon could be used and useful in some way in its own way and it could flip flop anywhere between NU and Ubers.
Excited to see FSG cover my favorite legendary Pokémon! Deoxys was always neat in my eyes but it’s recently really grown on me because of it being based on biology and biochemistry. Can’t wait to see this genetic juggernaut performed in the competitive scene!
Once, in an official pokemon champioship, I used a Deoxys speed against a magcargo. He attacked me first with toxic, my hit did little damage, second turn it attacked fist too and my Deoxys fainted. The battle was against the president of the "Liga oficial Pokemon do Brasil". I sent the record to Nintendo. 🤷♂

Since Deoxys isn't allowed in VGC for its mythical status, allow me to tell you the brief history of Doubles OU instead. All the Deoxys forms are allowed in Doubles OU due to the fact they can potentially get double targeted, speed control being more prominent, and their ability to set entry hazards isn't considered as impressive there, so the only relevant one is Deoxys Attack. In Gen 7, Deoxys-A makes great use of Z-move with Psycho Boost that can be further boosted by Tapu Lele's Psychic Surge. Dexoys-A actually received a suspect test, but it was concluded with a no-ban as while it is a devastating nuke, it also gets blow up very easily with its fragility. Even back then, there's enough Pokemon to check it such as Mega Metagross. Then everything changes --when the fire nation attacked-- Incineroar got Intimidate who serves as an excellent check/counter to most Psychic-types. It's surprisingly easy for Incineroar to switch into Psycho Boost and take none of it, and Superpower fails to OHKO Incineroar without Fightium-Z. As a result of Incineroar's prominence, Deoxys-A has significantly fallen off, though not to the realm of UR. anyway let's hope deoxys doesn't get expanding force haha

In the romhack of Emerald I'm making I made a new Deoxys form I call Deoxys Z as a superboss. It's meant to be a Deoxys that adapted to Mega Rayquaza after their battle in oras and therefore copied it's Base stat total, giving it a whopping 130 in every stat. The sprite art looks pretty good for it if I do say so myself
Deoxys is my favorite pokemon of all-time - so this video was bittersweet. Seeing it dominate every generation up to 7 was fulfilling, but seeing its fall in gen 7 and knowing it hasn't gotten a chance to redeem itself yet.... I really hope he comes back and gets some kind of buff. Also I think it's funny that Deo-D and Deo-S, despite having such different stat builds ended up having similar roles - because at the end of the day they were both just trying to get extra turns to stack hazards be it through speed or bulk.
You could have easily made one video for each form, but I love this super long video! It's the perfect companion for a meal since I can watch with while I cook, while I eat and it's still going when I'm washing the dishes!! :)
It would probably be banned to Anything Goes in that case, since it would be literally impossible to wall without the extra power brought by mega evolution, among other things
Fun fact: in Natdex format (which is a meta exclusively on Pokémon showdown that includes all of the cut Pokémon and moves in addition to the new gen 8 additions) Deoxys-Defense is not only is legal in OU, but is in UU for the first time since gen 5. And even in natdex UU, it sees no usage because of how ineffective it is against the heavily power crept meta. And since Natdex doesn’t have an RU or any lower tier than UU, Deo-D is ranked *untiered* in the format. A hard fall from grace I don’t think anyone could’ve seen coming

To put it into perspective: Deoxys Defense has a base 50 HP, and isn't even considered to be a good defensive Pokemon anymore, so what good do you REALLY think that the extra base 30 in it's defensive stats makes that big of a difference?
That's kinda the point since Attack Is a boosted form
Just another testament to Gen 4 having been the pinnacle of niche and balance and complete Pokemon battling experience. Really truly ANY Pokemon could be used and useful in some way in its own way and it could flip flop anywhere between NU and Ubers.
Excited to see FSG cover my favorite legendary Pokémon! Deoxys was always neat in my eyes but it’s recently really grown on me because of it being based on biology and biochemistry. Can’t wait to see this genetic juggernaut performed in the competitive scene!

Deoxys was always my favorite mythical, I was so happy when they made it catchable in a main game.
I feel like Deoxys-Normal's stat spread should have been 110 on every non-HP stat. I wonder what its viability would have been with such a stat spread. I'll never understand why Game Freak made it a bad version of Deoxys-Attack.

Deoxys is my favorite mythical pokémon. It’s such a cool concept and it’s pretty damn strong.
Man, it was so hype when it showed up at the end of the Delta episode.
Since Deoxys isn't allowed in VGC for its mythical status, allow me to tell you the brief history of Doubles OU instead. All the Deoxys forms are allowed in Doubles OU due to the fact they can potentially get double targeted, speed control being more prominent, and their ability to set entry hazards isn't considered as impressive there, so the only relevant one is Deoxys Attack.
In Gen 7, Deoxys-A makes great use of Z-move with Psycho Boost that can be further boosted by Tapu Lele's Psychic Surge. Dexoys-A actually received a suspect test, but it was concluded with a no-ban as while it is a devastating nuke, it also gets blow up very easily with its fragility. Even back then, there's enough Pokemon to check it such as Mega Metagross.
Then everything changes --when the fire nation attacked-- Incineroar got Intimidate who serves as an excellent check/counter to most Psychic-types. It's surprisingly easy for Incineroar to switch into Psycho Boost and take none of it, and Superpower fails to OHKO Incineroar without Fightium-Z. As a result of Incineroar's prominence, Deoxys-A has significantly fallen off, though not to the realm of UR.

In the romhack of Emerald I'm making I made a new Deoxys form I call Deoxys Z as a superboss. It's meant to be a Deoxys that adapted to Mega Rayquaza after their battle in oras and therefore copied it's Base stat total, giving it a whopping 130 in every stat.
The sprite art looks pretty good for it if I do say so myself
Deoxys is my favorite pokemon of all-time - so this video was bittersweet. Seeing it dominate every generation up to 7 was fulfilling, but seeing its fall in gen 7 and knowing it hasn't gotten a chance to redeem itself yet.... I really hope he comes back and gets some kind of buff. Also I think it's funny that Deo-D and Deo-S, despite having such different stat builds ended up having similar roles - because at the end of the day they were both just trying to get extra turns to stack hazards be it through speed or bulk.
Funny that D-A was not banned into AG in Gen3. But then, it would be weird to have a AG Tier since Gen 3 is also called AG, Advanced Generation. Lol

It would probably be banned to Anything Goes in that case, since it would be literally impossible to wall without the extra power brought by mega evolution, among other things
Fun fact: in Natdex format (which is a meta exclusively on Pokémon showdown that includes all of the cut Pokémon and moves in addition to the new gen 8 additions) Deoxys-Defense is not only is legal in OU, but is in UU for the first time since gen 5. And even in natdex UU, it sees no usage because of how ineffective it is against the heavily power crept meta. And since Natdex doesn’t have an RU or any lower tier than UU, Deo-D is ranked *untiered* in the format. A hard fall from grace I don’t think anyone could’ve seen coming

It's amazing how Gen 7 was basically a middle finger to Deoxys. I can only assume the same would be true with Gen 8 thanks to the Heavy Duty Boots.
