Love hearing about your journey and all the wisdom gained and shared! ❤Applies to so many other parts of life as well. Making up your own quilt rules, I love it! I’m a zig-zagger too, haha!😂
Such a lovely exposition of your journey; thank you for sharing. Paper piecing hurdle: Definitely an ordeal to train the brain to think in a mirrored format! I'm beginning my fifth year of quilting--having made my very first quilt (baby quilt), touted as beginner friendly but was not in June of 2019. The recipient loved it, but the process revealed how much work I had to do on the most very basic of skills. My journey was serendipitous as well. My key focus has been experimenting and adopting what I consider best practices (for me).
100% my first quilt I had so much motivation and I started it and finished hand quilted never made quilt b4 in my life oh how many things I learned in that process which I'm still begginer but I'm 6 months in and I've made bout 8 quilts the more I make them and learn from my mistakes the better I am on my next project , my step mom has started quilting and she has already gave up
That is awesome! The first quilt does start with so much motivation. I am glad that you were able to get over that beginner hurdle and have made so many more quilts. I am still learning too. Each quilt brings a lesson.
I do love your videos...I always mean to comment but I don't remember if I did the last one or not. I agree with you on basically everything you said...I am so much like you in that if I like it in my quilt, it is okay. I look at the colors nature throws together and it is all beautiful. I seldom buy a pattern because I never go by one...though I have bought a few in the past few months and one I will definitely follow. The others were unique and I may or may not do them. They were all pdfs... But the one I want to do I am having such a hard time deciding what fabrics I want to use...decision paralysis is my crippling disease as far as quilting.
Thank you so much, Rose, for your kind comment. It is hard to make quilting decisions, since you have to reject other good ideas to choose one. I hope you have a breakthrough and are able to choose the fabrics that will be right for your quilt. You're so right about the colors nature puts together. 🌺🌹🍃🌞
There are so many quilt blocks that if you only use limited colors (e.g. not more than 2) you can get some really stunning results. A 2 color kaleidoscope quilt is stunning, as is a 3 color hunter's star. Limited colors allows the geometry of the block (internally and with its neighbors) really pop.
Thank you for sharing. You are exactly right. It’s good to hear these things spoken outloud for encouragement for ourselves and others.
You are so welcome!, Denise, I am glad it was helpful.
Loved hearing about your quilt journey 💕❤️🌸
Thank you! It has been a fun journey! ♥

Thanks, Saira! Zig-zagging is more fun!

Thank you, Leisa. Like you, I think experimenting with what works best for you is a great strategy for quilting and pretty much everything in life.
