Excellent vlog I’m having my vaillant boiler serviced this week hopefully it’s long overdue big time by 6 years 😢 so hope all goes well and smoothly 👍👍 kind regards to you and take care Mark from Billericay
Great video, short with all the relevant details. I’m sure lots of engineers will find this useful. I also learnt a little trick so thank you very much. Keep up the good work 🔧
Nice one mate , i love vaillants , they are so easy to work on and plenty of room inside the casing , i like that magnetic wrist band you wear for holding screws and bolts and im going to get myself one..... Cheers mate .
@@cputilitysolutions I specialise in full strip down servicing on Vaillants and Worcesters. Going to start uploading videos like yourself. Great for customers to see what we get up to and also to see what a true service looks like.
@@cputilitysolutionsdo you have a list of tools that you service with, I’ve seen a few videos and you seem to have a brush attachment for a drill and possibly a compressor any links would be appreciated, it makes a difference. Thanks
Ideally throw a towel over the open gas pipe or bits of the old electrode gasket can fall inside. Personally I fit the electrode and clean it all up when the the burner door is off.
I'd love to learn how to do a full service on a vailant ecotec classic so I can practically do it myself every time that's needed - Obviously buying all the necessary tools
Hi bro, I've just done a comissioning and fault finding course with vaillant in Dartford center of excellence. Colin Leach said strictly nothing abrasive, no brushes whatsoever in the main heat exchanger and electrodes for all vaillant boilers. Just white vinegard solution and a clean cloth. If you don't have white viegard you could use the liquid from the condense trap as it is mildly acidic then pour water down the condense trap and clean it. Also use a card between the coil and hoover. Also should always drain down the boiler, check water quality and inhibitor level, clean knoe filter and repressurise expansion vessel (not only at any service but at any visit, I mean the vessel only). What do you think about it as an experienced engineer?
Looks like you've memorised a speech 🤣 it's engineer's judgement on site how you decide to carry out a service process as long as you carry out all the necessary checks 👍🏾
I think this is a good way.... but there is more then one way to skin a cat. I use a soft tooth brush as well a cloth and white vinegar. And you can use a brush on the electrode to clean if it's only needs a clean. I always change them as it comes as part of a kit you buy and its best practice considering the tenant has paid for it basically.....when you on the fields you find your own routine and ways to do a job in a safe way and more efficient way. I even do a tighness test after a clean like this. Peace of mind I left the property with no leak protection taken before and afterwards. This game always protect yourself. 🙌
Little late, just seen the video. I read all the comments and answers. Answers where not quite clear about what’s inside your spray while cleaning? Is it just water?
The abracs brush removes the protective coating put on by the manufactures. It's really not required. Just clean with a tool or remove the blade from a multi-tool and use that to clean between the hex coil.
The drill extension bar ?? ... I bougth the flappy toolstation brush to do a baxi but the shaft is round .. please put a link to drill extension bar as all the ones ive seen are hex ??
I recently installed all new heating system. Vaillant VUW 256/5-5 boiler, aluminium radiators, cooper pipes. All works fine, but when boiler warms up and cooled down i hear some very annoying metal clicking sounds. The boiler is 6 months old and under warranty.I called Vaillant authorized service and they said to me that this things is normal. Boiler is installed in bathroom and a hear clicking sounds in entire house and this make me nuts. I gave 1600euro for the boiler which they told me that is very quiet and now a have fucking annoying clicking monster. I pour sentinel X500 antifreeze into system. I thought that it will be good to install Sentinel Vortex 500 magnetic filter to prolong boiler life, what do you think about that, is it worth it.
Did you clip and lag the pipes? The clicking sound is most likely the pipework not being properly supported or lagged and the contraction of the metal as it heats and cools creates the clicking noise
@@cputilitysolutions The clicking sounds comes from the boiler itself. I contacted Vaillant yesterday and they will install silicon gaskets and grease the heat exchanger bolts and nuts with copper, like you did. Your video helped me to solve the problem. Thanks.
@@cputilitysolutions hard to tell from the video but I assumed it was, or a soft metal like brass. I'm not a gas engineer but like to see how its done and how these modern boilers work, having experienced a few 'clueless' engineers from certain maintenance contract companies!
Did you clean the siphon below the boiler as well as the magnetic filter if there was one installed? Did you actually tighten the bolts with a torch spanner to make sure it’s done to Vaillants expectations 6NM? I also couldn’t see you check the expansion vessel and drained the water and or checked the pressure. I don’t wanna judge you but seemed a little bit missing for a thorough service.
Great observations! You sound like you know your stuff! As the title says, this video is to show how to strip and clean the main heat exchanger. The other aspects of the service you mentioned were carried out including 26.9 checks. The only thing I don't have at present is a torque wrench which I have already mentioned at that relevant point in my video 👍🏽 thanks for watching!
@@cputilitysolutions I’m happy with the content of the video but wasn’t sure if you carried out the points I stated. That’s the only reason why I asked.

good call with the cardboard at the back to protect the gasket (you are the only one I have seen doing that), very good job tho.

What else could you use if you don’t have that cleaning equipment?
Any non abrasive brush

in most of these services non of them have checked the Expansion chamber for pressure or leaks
Just because I don't show it doesn't mean I didn't do it

Bro which liquid did u use on the heat exchanger and also list the tools used with links to buy from
After 2 years of operation, a cracking and knocking noise began when the primary heat exchanger was heating up, what could this be? Thank you.
Sounds like the burner nuts may need re-tourqing
Heat exchanger may need a clean.
@@cputilitysolutions That's right, I unscrewed the nuts a little and everything went away.
Perfect broth nice one
You don’t have to do tightness test, you can just spray it with LDS
If you isolate the gas at the meter you have to tightness test. If you isolate under the boiler you have to Tightness test. Thats what he did
