  • 5 Minutes Ready! Quick and Easy flatbread made with Batter! No Kneading! No Oven
    Ingredients
    300g (2 cups) All purpose flour
    5g (1 tsp) Salt
    5g (1 tsp) Suagr
    480ml (2 cups) Water
    15g (1 tbsp) Cooking oil
    Important tips
    1. Total of 2 cups of water, both warm and cold water, need to be added in 2-3 times, so that the batter can be mixed very quickly.
    2. Make sure to keep pressing the edges of the flatbread with a spatula, so it can puff up.
    3. Heat on medium-low heat, close to medium heat, if you want to make big bubbles later turn the heat to medium heat
    4. Cover with a sheet when done, and when all done the inside of the flatbread is also very soft

    THANK YOU FOR SUCH A SIMPLE RECIPE!!!
    I just try it. Literally. Since my mother makes curry, i wanna make this recipe immediately. If you want to make it fluffy (maybe for your shawarma wrap) , just use medium heat from the beginning. Don't forget to press the side of the bread and flip it over regularly. If the bread is bubbling up, it's enough.
    If you want to make it a little bit hard and crispy, (maybe for your taco wrap) don't use medium heat and cook for a longer time. Still press the side of the bread to make it bubbling. And press the bubble down. Until it's not really inflate anymore. Sorry for my english.

    Another tip: The goal is to keep the heat even, flip often, don't let a side get too hot or it deteriorates the elasticity preventing it from bubbling up. (6~ flips, 20-30~ seconds each side.)
    More details: Usually it's always a heat problem when they don't puff up. Once it starts to bubble, you want to turn the heat up. Pretty high but not too high. Both too much and too little heat results in non puffed up. If they're coming out hard but not done in the center then it's too hot or you're cooking it too long. You can't leave these on the stove by themselves. It takes about 5~ min to cook one. If you're cooking it for ten min or longer, you're probably not giving enough heat. Letting it puff up helps cook the insides. So if you're cooking it at low heat but for a long time you'll still end up with a gooey inside. But if you like that then keep at it!

    I have been making homemade tortillas by hand for over 2 years now and other flat breads from Turkey, Azerbaijan and other countries. Your recipe here is a gem! It's economical and it's really the easiest and quickest flat bread I have ever made! I used white whole wheat flour and unsalted butter for your recipe and it worked out great.
    Normally it takes me 3 hours to make 15 burrito size tortillas from start to finish. It's nice to have a quick recipe for days when you don't have much time to make bread this is really important to me since my family and I make most of the bread we eat from scratch regularly. In the summer time I can't use my oven and it's been hard to find bread to make on the stove top that turns out good, besides making pancakes, waffles, ect. I am referring to bread you can make a sandwich with.
    I have noticed your other videos on making bread on the stove top and I will try some of them. I am very excited about this since this recipe exceeded my expectations I didn't know you could make a tortilla without kneading and rolling it out and the long process it takes to get it ready to cook it. Thank you so much for sharing!

      Did u add baking soda to the whole wheat flour? Does it puff up?

    • @notyourstereotype9911
      @notyourstereotype9911 2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      @@muzakkirjuvi I did not use any baking soda. No, the white whole wheat bread does not puff up. The flat bread recipe is only good for a day. It doesn't hold its shape for very long and it's not as strong/sturdy as traditional tortillas, but it's still a good easy and fast flat bread recipe. (White whole wheat flour cooks differently than traditional whole-wheat flour does. Traditional whole-wheat flour is usually made from hard red wheat, which is darker and more strongly flavored. White whole wheat is made from hard white wheat flour also called white whole wheat flour. It's naturally whiter in color neutral in flavor and not as dense as traditional whole-wheat flour is and works like all-purpose flour except it's a whole grain.)

    These look incredible. I haven't made them yet, but I probably will today. Around the 3:00 mark it looks like a paratha. If this works out, it'll be my new go-to method. Kneading and rolling out is a pain, and it's hard to get almost-perfect circles and the puff.
    Some people complain about these not puffing. It might be worth adding a little baking powder.
    BTW, I wonder if you can make these using masa harina (corn flour)?

    • @michaelmccart2971
      @michaelmccart2971 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Maybe but I would use steaming hot water on the mass and let it set for an hour to hydrate so it cooks like it should .

      Tried them twice and they didn’t puff. I don’t know what I am doing wrong. They also were getting like a weird color on one side instead of having the brown spots. Guess l will stay with the traditional. The first batch I let sit for 2 hrs and didn’t puff. Then tried mixing and making them right away, same results. 😩 Hope someone can give me some tips using this method.

I think the base workers used ghee on the griddle.
    I would give them American candy and they would give me like six of these in a to go box LOL we all used to fight over them. In the morning I would wrap my eggs and potatoes in it and eat it.

    Looks great and easy !
    For the mixture is soft and sticks to my fingers when making into dough as I am just a novice.
    In paste like form it throws all my troubles away, heheheee....
    Will try it and thank you.
