As my partner (who is half Mexican) and I approach our 60's, my arthritis just won't allow me to roll out tortillas with a rolling pin. This was so easy and so fresh. I'd given up on tortillas - at least homemade ones. I've had arthritis for 40 years. I saw people making fun of us gringos in the comments but sometimes you can only do what your body will allow so I appreciate the recipe!
One thing I've been doing is using a heavy bottom 4 quart pan and a gallon freezer bag. Cut the bag on three sides, put the dough inside, press with the pan. Or if you have 2 good size cook books, you can put the bag with the dough between the books and press it that way.
I've always loved my grandmother's fluffy, tortillas with homemade, tasty, refried pinto beans. 😋She hasn't been with us for about 10 years. I'd give these a try.
This is amazing. I used Carbalose flour instead of regular all purpose (I'm diabetic), and it turned out just fine. Much easier than using the rolling pin and having the dough snap back and be too thick
Growing up in South Georgia, this is how we made cheap pancakes and would eat them with eggs and bacon. I've always had an interest in cooking other foods from different countries, had no idea I was doing it already. Thanks for sharing this recipe.
How do they hold up for later use? Are they pliable after refrigeration? My husband rips through tortillas shells, I used to make them homemade but couldn’t keep up. I so badly want a recipe that can make two or three dozen and be able to refrigerate. 😊
hello! Of course, it remains flexible even after refrigeration. A little tip is to let them cool completely before refrigerating them or adding a small piece of cooking paper in between them for easy removal. thank you😁
That's called "Galettes". We usually put ham, eggs or sausages with some cheese (of course) inside and fold (not roll) them. it's a traditional staple of french cuisine and it's from the region of Britany just like Crêpes.

I’m a single guy and love making my sourdough pancakes ,but it makes so many I just keep the extras and use them as tortillas . They are great and are just like this.
I make tacos the same way but have a different recipe. I use 1 c. of flour, 1/2 c. of yellow cornmeal, 1 egg and 1 1/2 c water then mix it the same way you do. It adds a little different taste. 🌮
I just made this recipe and it turned out really well! I just made half the recipe to test and it made 3 tortillas. The first 2 didn't inflate like on the video, so on the 3rd one I tried covering the pan and it inflated beautifully!! Now I'll want to make it every day.

Nice, this switches the prep time and mess of rolling with a longer and more involved cooking time that’s much easier in the hands. That’s smart so I’d this recipe like a modified pancake or crepe. Also I like the music. Gonna try these tonight, thanks

Traditional tortillas de harina (wheat flour tortillas) include a fat, usually lard, are mixed as a heavy dough, kneaded, given a gluten rest, and rolled then fried on a hot surface without oil. These are crepes.
