NOT MAJIN. MADIN. Pronounced identically (in Japanese). Spelled very similarly. MADIN is the nickname of the landscape designer. The text next to it doesn't say "from", it says "drawn by". The creepy background Sonics were DRAWN BY MADIN. No devil, no creepy crap.

Every time I see this version I imagine the Madin sonics bobbing their heads up and down with a colorful poka_dotted background to represent the funky beat and cheerful nature. But when I see the USA version I just see the actual image. (They don't move a bit, black background, and scary boss theme.)

My guess for the reason there's musical difference is because of I'm assuming music replacement-things. See, the US soundtrack as many know, is completely different from the international soundtrack, with many different stylistic and tonal changes. I'm assuming the music play code simply called for the boss theme, and I'm since this easter egg is still in Japanese I'm assuming the message went undiscovered by the US localization team, resulting in no changes to the code for music playback. Thus, a terrifying combo is created. so essentially, the whole US vs. International Sonic CD OST debate continues.
Imagine a US child talking to a EU/JP child about this easter egg. Than they're being old it's nothing creepy, they insist on checking it out in the EU/JP version and find nothing wrong. They probably feel brainwashed.
