@@adventuresfloridatothailan5217 nope, this is a manual shift. Your Royal Enfield is a great choice for touring for sure. For very short rides around town, you could look at electric bikes, they are getting better and better, just don't go for the cheapest ones. I bought one a few weeks ago, doing around 35 to 40 kph with about 50km of autonomy, more than enough for short trips around town. Love the silence also. Just my 2 cents.
Haha, That was me in front of your friend in the video at the test ride event. Nice to meet you guys. I thought the Himalayan was a POS, I was totally impressed by the Classic 350 also. Please do a 1 year reliability follow-up video.
You are a great guy for taking the time to provide us expats very valuable information about motorbikes…new or used. After watching your test drives of the X-Max and Forza (both good bikes) a couple years ago, I went with a Forza and have not been disappointed, in town or out on the Thai expressways.
Excellent vid showing moturbikes and price points available here in Thailand. That 250cc that Vie likes for around 2K US is bang for your buck. Keep up the good vids, lucus and come back over to Hua Hin again soon.
Fantastic! The Royal Enfield has a lot of history behind it! The British discontinued it but an Indian company decided to revive it! I owned one in the 1970s and I really toured on it! But I didn't know how well it's represented in Thailand until now! Lovely episode my friend and my heartiest congratulations to your friebd upon his choice! I wish his experience well!

Honda Shadow 1100 cc,Suzuki Intruder 750,Honda Steed 400 and a Honda Silverwing 600,Honda Phantom 200. Now I have only the Phantom and a Honda Wave 125cc. Good enough here on the Island. Hi, Lucus & Vee enjoyed your video. The prices are reasonable. Your friend really did his due diligence investigating his options. Take care GOD Bless you and yours. M
Hi Lucas. Nice video, I enjoyed it very much. For touring the Royal Enfield Himalayan probably would be the best choice because it is good on unpaved roads as well as on paved roads. But a Himalayan is not a typical classic RE. I do own a RE 500 Classic. It's an old style British bike. It has gear shift on the right side, brake on the left. First gear up and all other down. For city use or touring the RE 500 classic or the 650 Interceptor could be a good choice if someone wants a classic bike. For one person the 350 might be enough but for two or when much baggage is loaded on the bike I would prefer the 500. Oh just by the way. Here in Switzerland I drive the XT 1200 Z Yamaha Super Ténéré. A great touring bike for Europe. It's powerful, fast on highways and it is a rival of the BMW 1200 GS. Most definitely the XT 1200 Z is too heavy for Asia. In Thailand most probably I would choose a 650 Japanese Touring bike with side cases. Thanks for your vid. Greets, enjoy life in beautiful Thailand and be well.
My friend bought this exact royal Enfield about 15 years ago. He had it imported from India. He had import duties to pay, had to pick it up at the shipping port near Long Beach California. Then found out he couldn’t register it in California it didn’t meet EPA laws. It was a big drama. He got it all sorted out. But his $3000 bike from India actually cost him about $7500. The shifter was on the right hand side and it was slow. Its top speed was about 50 miles an hour. He modified several things on the bike. I believe it reaches about 65 miles an hour now. The biggest kick in the teeth was, there was a Royal Enfield dealer right next-door to California in Arizona. These Royal Infields had a left side shifter specifically made for United States. The price tag for the same bike in Arizona was $4500. He still owns the Royal Enfield. He also owns a Norton Commando which he bought when he was 18 brand new. It’s 46 years old. He also added a Triumph to his collection. He entered all the bikes in English motorcycle contests here in California. And has won many trophies. His daily rider is a Harley Davison He and I grew up together we were neighbors live two houses apart. I met him when I was four years old and he was six years old. I watched him start off with a minibike move up to dirt bikes. I’ve been there to watch him buy every motorcycle he owns.
I bought a GSX-S150 from Pauline (PJ Trading) a couple years ago. I like the GPX 250 Twin but their engines are just so underpowered. I'm interested in the Yamaha XSR 155 now, whose single cylinder engine puts out comparable power and torque as the GPX 250 twin but more efficiently and it weighs less. I'm a Yamaha guy from the age of 17 when I bought my first bike...the screaming RD350.
Surprised a bit at those prices. Looks like he got a great deal including the 3 year warranty, RA, 3 free maintenance appointments. Bike looked sharp with the dark green tank.
They are made in Thailand so there is no import tax on Royal Enfields. Plus in Thailand VAT is still only 7 percent, which makes also a bike difference compared to many European countries.
@@KJJMedia there isnt really vat if you buy second hand... Import tax in Thailand is very high to encourage local production so I really wouldn't advise buying an imported bike, it can double the price I think. Plenty of bikes are made in Thailand and therefore more reasonably priced. Used to be only smaller bikes 10 years ago but now there are bigger one too and brands like Royal Enfield, Triumph or Ducati make bikes in Thailand.
Good if you want to tour but I would go for your old Yamaha or a PCX 150 good equipment on both and cruise at 70 mph no problem soften the suspension setting sweet
Wow good video..I wish here in North America we could get a 4k brand new motorcycle..this exact motorcycle in Canada sells for at least 8k..I need to come to Thailand and buy one..its all the extras the government puts on..Freight tariffs etc..by the time it gets here its Double the price..
Yes, I really liked that, don't think I've seen so much hardware at that price point before and appears to be a nice small around town runabout for about the same as a 150cc scoot.

I have a Royal Enfield Interceptor here in Australia. Love it sits on 110 all day no hassle. I am upgrading the seat as its a bit hard for my ass. Bang for buck couldn't go past it.
I have a 350cc Royal Enfield motorcycle. It is a good bike in the city, but it runs out of puff at 100 kmh. IMHO the 350cc Meteor is a better ride than the 350cc Classic. I like the heel toe gear lever of the 350cc Meteor.
I've ridden the Classic, Meteor, Interceptor and Himalayan at RE Pattaya ride out day back in late December. For the money the Classic stood out as a great solid bike, OK in town, just about enough power to tour around Thailand, not enough to get yourself in trouble, all for not much more than a top spec PCX.
Yes, I would agree. I was a bit surprised with the peg placement on the Meteor. The forward pegs gave it more of a cruiser feel as opposed to the Classic's more rearward pegs which gave it the feel of a standard.
Those Royal Enfield prices are fantastic. That 350 cc new in Costa Rica is $8,000 US Dollars & the CF Moto 650 MT is $8,600.00 US dollars in Costa Rica. The prices in Thailand are Terrific. I got my CF Moto 650 MT in December 2020 in the Philippines got mine in all white for $6,000 US. Very pleased with it but it is 50 kg heavier than the Kawasaki Verses & no center stand available. If & when I come to Thailand I check out the trading post for a used bike. I really liked the RE Classic he chose. Wonderful Vlog enjoyed it.🙏🙏🙏
Good vid, but that's only half the battle... Next vid, what's he doing for insurance... I swear for us older folk, that's harder than deciding on which bike to buy... Would be interested in a vid on how to mothball a bike in case you have to leave the country for extended periods of time, and how to bring it back to life on return... tks
Lucas, whatever happened to that white motorcycle a 400cc Yamaha I believe...did you sell it?....they seem to have some decent prices there on their motorcycles, at least the Royal Enfields...safe travels as always!
And the cost to maintain these bikes in Thailand is also very very cheap. Service is available everywhere for japanese brands and in big cities for Royal Enfield. Parts and service is so much cheaper than in western countries.
A really nice classic bike - He certainly put his time into research. I purchased a Yamaha 125GT yesterday with 22k on the clock for B32,000. The dealer took care of all the transfer details.
:) LOVED IT! Glad he got his new ride! Seems well suited as you say for around town, and big enough to go out longer! ALL THE BEST, and thanks again! Cheers :)
heya Lucas sorry to keep beeting the horse but when are you going to do a vid on the Indian? ... or did i miss it? will be looking at getting a Scout once i'm there. interested in looking at both new and used prices. haveing no luck trying to look on line myself.
Hmm...a small car may have been the wiser choice. Old bones don't heal like young bones, and an older chap in a new country where he is also driving on the opposite side of the road doesn't bode well for the future. Not if but when the bike gets dropped and hoping the only scrapes are on the bike. And there is no AC on a bike.
I love the style of the Royal Enfields. I didn't realise they were so cheap. I'd love a bike but the risk from other road users in Thailand scares me too much.
Look up Itchy Boots channel on YT. She rode Royal Enfield through India, Burma, Thailand, middle east, europe. Though personally I would go with a bigger name like Honda
I think I would have gone just for the 199 buffet 😋😋😋👍👍 I would like the 650 model The 500 Enfield here in aus is nearly 10 k so they are very cheep there He will enjoy the bike I’m sure and he is a only a little guy so it will go ok with him on it 👍👍
Good video, Lucas, of info and prices of the Royal Enfield. Hope in the future you're going to do a Harley Davidson video of dealerships there and prices. Thanks for the updates of bike prices and dealerships there.
Thanks for the video. I might add a Royal Enfield in the future to my collection, when I get rid of my cars (necessary evil when you have children...). For now I am a Honda fan, the service cost / availability and the reliability of my bikes prevent me from looking elsewhere... For now. Thanks for the video again, always entertaining, and I know they require some work, appreciate it.
More great info. Lucas, you know about bikes and cars; seems that your friend is an experienced rider. For the less experienced rider in Asia, a step-through scooter is better for around town, with an auto trans. A few of those Indian bikes looked alright, but I wonder about the quality. I'll watch for that video. Nice that Vee made a surprise appearance. Enjoying a stay in Pattaya is much greater with a vehicle. Cheers!
In the past the quality of REs was erratic but they've raise their quality control in the last few years. The 650 Interceptor has been the 2nd most popular bike (not including scooters) in the UK behind the Big BMW GS for the last few years.
Super interested in this video, taking it forward what is the situation re electric motorbikes? Are they available? Are condos set up with charging points? Are there chargibg points in public places? My research (last year) says Thailand is wanting to lead the electric vehicle revolution but are 5 years or so behind the UK...what do you think?
The gun metal gray Ninja would have been my pick among the lot. I believe the Japanese makes the best bikes. Not classic stuff for the nostalgic hearts of course, and I'm not a loyal guy to any brand in the same time, but for handling, power, fun, easy maintenance, reliability those kind of stuff, hard to beat the Japanese.
Agreed, in Thailand japanese bikes make a lot of sense, so easy and cheap to maintain. I specially like Honda, I have a Click, a PCX and a CB500x and really enjoy them, very reliable.
So jealous of guys that ride MB's in Thailand .Can't think of nothing better than travelling all over 'I know nothing about bikes but what a great choice 👍👍
Speed in Thailand in not really advisable... You can't access toll ways on motorbikes here, so your speed limit is often around 100kph, a 350cc is more than enough for him riding alone, he seems to be quite light. To be honest for daily use, even the 150cc scooter are enough for the roads here.
I've never been a bike/motorcycle person (don't hate me!) but those Royal Enfield are really neat looking! I have a dumb question though....as a person that never learned t drive a manual in his 45+ years on this earth.....do bikes have automatics or CVTs? Is it bad to get one? Also...one of those Vanderhall Carmel 3 wheeler things would be awesome around Thailand, I bet. i am sure they are a trillion dollars there though, if available at all:)
There are many automatic option in the scooter market, most of them are autos. A couple big bikes now have CVTs like the African Twin and the NC750 X. Of course the extra large scooters also like the ADV750 X and the CT400 etc. The small electric 3 wheelers are gaining in popularity for sure. See them parked all up and down Soi Buakhao most days, which means the expat population here is using them.
Lou, I keep telling you, less of my face, more of what we're doing.... 🤣 Great job with the video and your generous help. 👍
Thanks Terry, enjoy the new bike 👍

A really nice classic bike - He certainly put his time into research. I purchased a Yamaha 125GT yesterday with 22k on the clock for B32,000. The dealer took care of all the transfer details.
:) LOVED IT! Glad he got his new ride! Seems well suited as you say for around town, and big enough to go out longer! ALL THE BEST, and thanks again! Cheers :)
Nice bikes Lucad
Thanks Marty 👍👍🙏🙏
heya Lucas sorry to keep beeting the horse but when are you going to do a vid on the Indian? ... or did i miss it?
will be looking at getting a Scout once i'm there. interested in looking at both new and used prices.
haveing no luck trying to look on line myself.
On the list Al, 👍👍🙏
Great video 👍
Vee lookin' good on that bike.
Yes, I thought it fit her well.
I think I would have gone just for the 199 buffet 😋😋😋👍👍
I would like the 650 model
The 500 Enfield here in aus is nearly 10 k so they are very cheep there
He will enjoy the bike I’m sure and he is a only a little guy so it will go ok with him on it 👍👍
Good video, Lucas, of info and prices of the Royal Enfield. Hope in the future you're going to do a Harley Davidson video of dealerships there and prices. Thanks for the updates of bike prices and dealerships there.
Went to Harley about 10 months ago, but I have always wanted to do another type of Harley video that I may soon do as well. 👍🙏
I"ll keep looking for it in the future, no hurry. Take your time. Thanks
That's one of the unsung necessities of living over there, thanks for keeping It real.
Sounds great. I've always been a Hona fan as well 👍👍
Same reason I never bought a used car for myself. Smart decision. Vee looks good on that bike. Hint hint. Thanks for sharing.😎
Haha, I told her I would get it for her but she has to sell her PCX first for 35k 🤣👍🙏
@@Rides4Kickz what kind of bike was that? Can I buy there & ship it to Phuket? Is there a dealer in Phuket I can buy same?
Really nice looking bike, love that green and brown color scheme
Yes, I thought the color complimented the bike nicely 👍
Cool bike. Great price.
@@andrewmack2161 Thanks 😀
Thanks Jackson, Yes I always recommend a scooter for around town. Best one in Thailand is Honda Wave IMO 👍🙏
Love bike shopping Lou 👍
Thanks 👍
Hi Lucas - where can i find the P.J. TRADING ? thanks for all the nice vids
g.page/pjtradingpattaya?share
Great deal 👍🏽🏴
Super interested in this video, taking it forward what is the situation re electric motorbikes? Are they available? Are condos set up with charging points? Are there chargibg points in public places? My research (last year) says Thailand is wanting to lead the electric vehicle revolution but are 5 years or so behind the UK...what do you think?
Electrics are more widely available than ever. Charging at a condo is not viable in most cases though.
@@Rides4Kickz Thanks Lucas
Great video but I would always trust a Japanese bike over the Royal Enfield 👍
Love this vid, been looking at getting a Royal Enfield. Still undecided! For comparison the Classic 350 in the UK is £4500 / $ 5377 / 198000 baht
Yes, if they cost that much here they would be competing with many more models and I'm not sure they would be as popular.
Very enjoyable and informative as always, I envy those prices, living in Vietnam I have had to pay a large premium for my imported bikes.
We do here as well, but many are assembled here now alleviating the tariffs
Do I have to have a Thai license to own a bike, or can I use my US license with motorcycle endorsement plus my International driving permit?
Royal Enfield is Indian brand. I l had classic 350 it's awesome.. In India it cost you around $2000.
Did you do a video on the bigger scooters m8
Looks good I got to say , I'd take it for sure . Perfect bike for town
Nice 👍🙏
Awesome colors
The gun metal gray Ninja would have been my pick among the lot. I believe the Japanese makes the best bikes. Not classic stuff for the nostalgic hearts of course, and I'm not a loyal guy to any brand in the same time, but for handling, power, fun, easy maintenance, reliability those kind of stuff, hard to beat the Japanese.
Agreed, in Thailand japanese bikes make a lot of sense, so easy and cheap to maintain. I specially like Honda, I have a Click, a PCX and a CB500x and really enjoy them, very reliable.
Haha, mine too 👍🙏
🤗be fun be safe Thanks for sharing love what you do lilo from israel🤗
Shalom 👍🙏
That GPZ 250 caught my eye as well. I'm not familiar with them but good looking little bike. I'm guessing Chinese?
Yes, they are made here in Thailand and historically have bad resale value, but that bike is worth every bit of the price I believe.
So jealous of guys that ride MB's in Thailand .Can't think of nothing better than travelling all over 'I know nothing about bikes but what a great choice 👍👍
I was in Pattaya June/ July ,2022 ! I hired a Bike from Pauline from PJ Trading Co. No problems all good to deal with ! ✅👍🇦🇺🇦🇺
Great price but I would have bought the 500cc Terry is a small guy so maybe a 350 is suitable. I just like a little more top speed and grunt.
Speed in Thailand in not really advisable... You can't access toll ways on motorbikes here, so your speed limit is often around 100kph, a 350cc is more than enough for him riding alone, he seems to be quite light. To be honest for daily use, even the 150cc scooter are enough for the roads here.
The 650 even better 👍🙏
Is DUCATI available arround you ?
Are any of these non-scooter motorcycles available with an automatic (DCT) transmission?
honda has a dct
You can buy some new Honda's from the Honda Big Bike showroom with DCT.
Not sure which models or prices.
Africa Twin and NC750 X
wow ! great ! Ilike the Royal Enfield Bikes 😀😍
Thanks ✌️
@@Rides4Kickz and Thailand of course 😘
Good choice and buy new if you can is always better
👍👍👍
I just this week put a deposit on the exact same model and colour, he has excellent taste 😉
Very good 👍🙏
I've never been a bike/motorcycle person (don't hate me!) but those Royal Enfield are really neat looking!
How is the RE durability?
It has supposedly significantly improved.
-- In years past, the RE came with a tool kit--- for a reason.
I think they are at least industry standard. Remember, they are very simplistic already, just by design. 👍
Can you do a video on the Honda C90 please as this is more my style and i hear it does at least 55 mph, or 90 kph as its name implies.
I'll see if I can find one. Most will be new and they won't allow test rides but maybe I can find a demonstrator somewhere.
