    Nice bikes .when I was born in 61 my dad had a BSA A10 he restored .rather than get rid of it he got a sidecar.then when my sister came along in 64he had to get a car.remember when he sold it ,couple of rockers turned up to buy it took off down the road at top speed.dad was shaking his head.vivid memory lol.

    Lloyd, you should know the golden rule of life. When one gets their car nicely washed, polished and detailed, rain is sure to follow...haha. At least the good lunch made up for it. Royal Enfield in Udon, who would have guessed!...👍

    These are real icons here in India ! The Himalayans are an awesome breed. The price isn’t much but it’s built well enough to tour the world. Harley closed shop in India after covid !

    • @jerseyfaranginthailand8134
      @jerseyfaranginthailand8134  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@jerseyfaranginthailand8134 they probably closed because of other reasons. With such a huge population and a massive middle class still working the real Indian economy isn’t hurt that bad due to covid.
      Royal Enfield also had a series of excellent bikes called thunderbird but they were no able to export it because of the name. Late last year they came out with a new one called meteor ! They say it’s one of their best cruisers to come out of their stables. Anyways have a great day :)

    The Enfield Interceptor 650 range in the UK starts at £5699 on the road so if Thai prices are on the road too that's surprisingly competitive considering there is usually a big tariff on imports. Pity Harley's are not cheaper in Thailand now they have a factory there. I know they did come down a little but the price is still astronomical. Just as a note of interest almost all Triumphs are now made in Thailand. All Bonneville's have been for some years. There is some small scale production still in the UK but that will be wound up in due course and only R&D and head office will still be here. Lower production costs in Thailand but still sold at a premium price here. The 650 Enfield is almost as good as a Bonneville at a fraction of the price which is why there is a waiting list here. Enfield have a R&D facility in the UK now which is where the engine and chassis were designed i believe. A good bike and proving reliable.

      Good friend of mine was the manager at the triumph plant in Thailand he relocated from the UK where he worked for Triumph for many years...he retired 2 years ago.he was on a very good wage in Thailand probably explains the high costs of the bike back in the UK...lol

    Royal Enfield started producing motorcycles i believe in 1906 under the name 'Enfield Cycle Company' . They won a contract to supply precision rifle and gun parts to the 'Royal Small Arms Factory' in Enfield of north London that produced the world famous Lee Enfield 303 rifle and other weapons for the UK government. They marketed their motorcycles using the Name 'Royal Enfield' after winning that contract and later used the slogan 'made like a gun', you can often see this slogan painted on their bikes. they even named their 350 & 500 models 'bullet'. UK Production of these bikes including the 'interceptor' finished in 1978. RE produced motorcycles for the Indian Army first from UK, then in 1954 set up a factory in India which continues production to this day.
    They rightly claim to be the longest continuous produced motorcycle in the world.
    Ah ! nearly forgot i have owned many of RE bikes here in UK back in the 1960's and 1970's, we used to call them 'Royal Oilfield' for the amount of oil that would leak out........lol. The new Indian bikes are really very good i love them they are updated versions the old British designs from the 1950's

    The "Lambretta" is not actually a Lambretta at all. It is actually a Scomadi, they are modelled on the Lambretta and have been upgraded to modern day standards. They are made in Thailand near Pattaya. I think that I would prefer one of the Enfields though!

      Yes i've heard of the Indian/Enfield. It was at a time when British bikes of the time were making inroads into the US market as they were lighter and quicker. Re badging an Enfield as Indian was a way to come up with a new model fast and at low cost. BSA did the same sort of thing in the UK after WW2. As part of war reparations they got rights to the German DKW, I think that's the correct model, someone will know. They re badged it as the Bantam and it was a big success for them for many years.
