Buying a NEW Bike in Pattaya, The Best in Thailand

- Today I buy a new bike in Pattaya to replace the aging scooter. Why is this the best motorbike in Thailand? Sales numbers don't lie, they are the highest in the country. Parts, service and gas mileage also play vital roles. After the deal is done, we enjoy an afternoon at an iconic Pattaya Place.

To each his own, automatic bikes can't be beat. Switching gears all the time, especially in traffic is a pain!! In any case, enjoy your new bike.
100% agree with you! Selling a used vehicle to a family member is a mistake. Even giving it to them can be an issue, and certainly a headache. Trade it in and be done, then if you want you can give the family member the money and let them buy (and be responsible for) what they want to get. Best of luck! Love the videos.
👍👍👍
Congrats on the new ride! The floating market was cute too. Thanks for sharing it! Enjoy your weekend coming up!
You packed alot of knowledge in this video. Honda is top brand here as well. You got what you wanted and that's important. Great ride on the boat and people loved you two. Lunch looked great. Thank you for shating!😊
Good luck and congratulations Lon, Spunky, with your new bike. What you explained is a good bike all the way around, cheap fixes, and runs forever. So all good and good luck with the bike. Stay safe you two.
Thanks Carleto 👍
Lan looks to be happy with her new ride. :-) Girl on the go...looking good and feeling even better!
Always love your content. Thank you my brother appreciate it.
My pleasure 👍
Your videos have been so useful to me lately, im in Bangkok next week and have booked on the unicorn cruise.
Then down to Pattaya for a couple of weeks where we need to replace my girlfriends motobike as its in the repair shop all the time these days .
Great Kenny, have fun on the cruise 👍
My wife has an old Wave, never a problem with it in more than 10 years…..have a scoopy that is her main transport here in Hua Hin…..and we were just at Amphawa floating market this week(closer to home). Great video as always and safe travels on the new bike😃
So she has both of Honda's top selling bikes 👍👍
Enjoy seeing both of you in Pattaya and now that we’re back in the USA on your channel. Enjoy your new bike
Awesome 👍
As usual another great informative vlog…just purchased a Forza 350 in Italy. Love it.
Nice 👍👍
👍U are always such a good generous provider but prudent as well🙏
:) WOW! CONGRATS on New Ride and GREAT Video! ALL the BEST and Cheers! :)
Thanks Marty 👍🙏
Very cool; thx for giving us a view of the Floating Market.
Well done Loucous. A nice replacement. Solid and bulletproof. Thank you Loucous 🙏
You bet Mitch 👍👍
Great video you guys,,,, as always.
Waiting with baited breath for the acquisition of the Versys replacement! Lots of good choices and curious what direction you choose! 😁
Really enjoy your videos, this one was really neat as I wish we had lots of scooters in the US. The Honda Wave is not sold here however. One that's available here that is close to the wave is $4000.00 Dollars, bummer. Be safe and enjoy your new bike.
Am sure yiu make a good buy. Love your videos in rhe morning. Always watching while eating breakfast. Happy travels and stay safe. God bless you all👍🏿.
Thanks Antonio 👍
And yet another item to add to my list. Thank you, Lucas! Also, I believe last time you mentioned getting a new bike for yourself, so I hope to see that episode soon.
Hopefully the Mt10 or mt09.
👍👍👍
Morning Lucas, I've baught 3 there in the last 12 yrs. Loved them all. As alway's stay cool, kind and generous.
Very nice! Thank you 👍
Nice video. I heard or read that the floating market had burned to the ground--glad you cleared that up. Congrats on the bike.
Martin From LA
Yes, I think the news was over dramatized and many people thought it was done. 👍
Nice video - Good info on the motobike
Thanks Tommy
Congrats on the new wheels. Hard to go wrong when you pick a Honda. Cool market place on the water.
Great video! I will visit the market on my visit. Is the French restaurant still open in Pattaya that you did a video on?
A very good Thai friend I went to school with gave me a very good description of the difference between a car and a motorcycle. A car is like meat in can and a motorcycle is like a can in the meat. Much earlier in Thailand 1996. I was building a papermill about 100 miles North of Pattaya and the small country town that I was renting a house really did not have much to offer as far as night life unless you considered the one 7/11 opened after midnight. I already had a company supplied pickup but at 47, I had always dreamed or owning and riding a "crotch rocket".. Buying a really nice used CB 750 Honda I normally only rode it on weekends to Pattaya for my overnight rest and recreation. However I did make 2 long rode trips, one following the border between Thailand and Cambodia and Laos to Nong Khai and taking a different routed back through Loei to my home in Prachin Buri . The last road trip was during my 2 week vacation to Mai Sai then to Mai Hong Son to Chiang Mai where I stayed with a Thai friend that I went to college with in America.
I had that motorcycle one year when I noticed that my normal speed from Prachin Buri to Pattaya that was usually 100 kph was reaching speeds of 160-180 kph when the sudden thought came to my mind that I had, had a fantastic year seeing Thailand and hundreds of photo and great memories and I better stop now and sell the motorcycle as soon as I could. Which I did. Still have great memories about that time and I still have both my legs, arms and even my head is in great shape which has not been the case of many of the people I see today that own motorcycles. My wife a manager working in our city hospital will not allow our son to buy a motorcycle and I have to back her up. I was riding my motorcycle here 27 years ago in Thailand where you could actually enjoy the scenery as you traveled. Today I still love long road trips all over Thailand just finishing a trip from Rayong to Buri Ram for the Superbike GP then to Korat for some shopping before going home. Don't see near as many touring bikes on the road as I saw 27 years ago.
Prices in September at the FLOATING MARKET when I was there were triple compared to everywhere else 😮
Just arrived back, time to try a few of your recommendations 😊
Have fun!
Great choice on the bike. And the flooding market highly recommended even if you do have to pay. I have been there myself long time ago great video Lucas
Thanks Paul 👍
The scooter is perfect city commutes, market a great 😊 VALUE, and the dancers very beautiful!!! Thank you for letting us tag along.
Welcome 👍🙏
Good deal
Drive safe ✌🏼🙏
It looks great value for all I could watch thia dances all day love traditional way of the land😊😊
My only problem with that particular Mityon is that they took 5 months to straighten out getting me the regular license plate. I met several other purchasers during my many visits there to check about my plates that had the same problem. Also note for people that buy new bikes there, their official service center for oil changes and post-sale mechanical stuff is also on Pattaya Tai in a rather non-descript building just east of (and on the same side of the street as) the 7-Eleven that looks like a ship. Good place but a tad bit difficult to find the first time.
Also i heard they charge above the recommended price .People have said to buy in Siracha or Chonburi town for a cheaper price .Not that it will be a huge saving ,but for a pensioner it may be worth it .
Same same at the one on sukhumvit rd... took 5 months to get my white plate and green book
Great post,Sold my bike last trip, looking to buy new in Jan,any tips on bike storage while away
Hoo yeah I like the floating market. Very nice . The artist yes. I really like the Thai traditional dance and music. Nice bike. You look nice LAN 😊🥰👍
Thanks Leo
Love my Wave, in the north lots mountains so i got the big 125, I think its part mountain goat. New sprokets and chain 350 baht, over 100k now great bike.
10:42 Looks very refreshing Lou!!! ................. Congratulations on the new Honda. A great machine, How much would a 125cc version of that cost mate? 👍
Your right about selling anything to a Friend or Family ,Things go wrong
You feel responsible. I saw Pictures of the Fire and it looked a Total loss..
Safe Travels and Good Luck with the new Bike .
Thanks 👍
Best of luck on your new purchase
Thank you!
That's was really interesting, man them seats at the restaurant, they were so small, I'd never get back up!! Plus the bike in UK (called a vision) is £2850 a lot more than you paid.
Not a bad choice.
Waves are bulletproof.
Mag wheels are good as you can run tubeless tyres.
Cheers
Thanks 👍
Thanks for another interesting video. Out of curiosity; what's the gas mileage on your new bike and the price of gas? Thanks
Honda adv 160 would have been my choice but your Honda looks superb in blue
I plan on buying an ADV160 for long distance touring, and riding to work/7-11
Hey Luckaz Lan ,Decent Deal on the Honda Wave 48300 , flirting Market looked Fun good prices very Reasonable too Thank you Have Fun Chris
Thanks Chris👍
Great! Miss some longtailboarrides.😊
Totally agree Honda Wave best bike. Had mine for over 12 years.
Wow the blue looks great , congratulations on the new wave Loucos ! Is it only 110 CC ? and it still scoots along with 2 people , impressive .... Enjoy guys
yeah, it's a work horse Karl, any night of the week, you will see a moto taxi guy picking up a big farang and his girl and wisking them away from the bar, all three on the bike 😂🤣😂
Sounds like a work house , thanks for the info !@@Rides4Kickz
I would have gone for an auto scooter like the Zontes or Sym. I don't know what the bike theft risk is there, but anything that isn't used as a taxi or delivery bike will be lower risk. I like the full color LCD dashboards on new scooters because some of them can show navigation linked to your phone. 125cc is plenty for short trips in the city, two up.
I enjoy all your videos, and this one especially. When you bought the Wave, you said all you need is a passport and a residency certificate. I was hoping to buy a Honda Dax in Thailand as a tourist and ride it around Chiang Mai for a month or so before returning home. Is that possible, or do you really have to have a residency certificate to buy a motorcycle in Thailand? I was planning to give it away to a friend in Thailand when I left, or else ship it home to the USA if he didn't want it.
Have that artist do a painting of your motorcycle. Would be interesting. ❤
Cheers mate
🙂
I love Honda ,…Too bad you weren’t in Phuket , I arrive Dec 1st, my brother just bought a condo there , I’d buy the pcx off you and just leave it there when I come home . I actually own the 2016 pcx 150 here in the states , I’d be more than happy to own a 125 to put around Phuket on . Good luck with your new purchase,.. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it !
Enjoy Phuket 👍
Great bike my friend also bought the Wave hee got the 125. I had the Honda Airblade and Lead in Vietnam. Honda is the way to go. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🥳🥳🥳🥳
Nice 👍
That's a great bike you bought. It's a good tip at the market. I can use my licence
Absolutely!
B48K is reasonable considering I paid B28K for a 2016 Yamaha 125GT a year ago. You answered one of my long standing questions - Why do motorbike shops refuse to accept cash for a bike and want you to take out finance? The sales commission is why! I might look at upgrading next year.
Lucas if the jacket didn't fit i sure your man at lucky tailors could help you out.
i brought a oversize shirt in Vietnam and lucky did the biz. very happy with it, 👍
Cool, very nice 👍
MORE THUMBS UP PEOPLE, PLEASE. He deserves them! 👍👍
Thanks 👍👍👍👍
Just curious what's the best price you want the pcx for? Thanks
Would love to go there and eat all that food. Looks Lush.❤🙏👍
Yum Yum 👍
I use tha family yam 110 clunk when there, so cheap for parts & 17" wheels ride better than the scootay's, me and the wife load it up with backpacks & even tour on it, slowly ofcourse 😅🤣
Will be sniffing out some 2 strokes when we move over fulltime to get my powerband fix in retirement 💯👍👍
Honda wave makes a great daily ride tho
Is there a break in period for the new bike .. ?
I'm up in Udon shopping for bikes and nobody is telling me I need one of those red plates up here - do you know if that is something specific to certain provinces such as Chon Buri?
I sold loads of bikes on Facebook Market place when i lived in Chiang mai .They always went fast .A PCX even the 125 cc is sought after .Have been to that floating market around 10 years ago .Its not my cup of tea .It was far too crowded but it looked quiet enough when you were there .Seems you got the 110cc Wave .I would always go for the 125cc .Not that it makes a huge difference ,especially if its your feather weight GF that will mostly be riding it lol PS , I have ridden to Ko Chang and back on a Wave from Pattaya /Jomtien and it was doable .Solo riding with a suitcase strapped to the back seat .
Lol, nice. I'll bet you were happy to have that bike on Ko Chang with all those hills. 👍
We bought a 2022 110 wave with 2200 kilometers on it in march. Typical Honda, bullet proof.
I thought you'd opt for a juicy Norton or Triumph?
Wow Lucas a brand new Honda scooter for that money is almost like stealing 😂 and a great value day out as well very good 👍
Thanks 👍
I'm looking at purchasing a new ADV where would you recommend for the best price, Pattaya ,or Bangkok area??
So does Lan sell the sugar came for sugar or fot wood.
2 ladies making stuff very very veautiful see that...
I prefer automatics in pattaya. So easy to drive in traffic. But you do have more control with a manual.
It's not a manual, it's a semi. No clutch lever
do any of the Waves have a proper clutch (obviously on the left hand grip) ?
no, they are step throughs like the old Honda 50's and 90's
Is the entry fee for Thai driver’s licenses waived at most tourist areas?
How is the fragrance pn the floating market. What is growing on Lans farm at this time.
Mostly just smelled the different food cooking. The sugar cane is almost ready to be cut.
So how much did you buy it the Honda wave in Thai baht
What was the 13:00 food you zoomed in
My Suzuki Burgman 400 would be a Harley in Thiland as far as step though motor bikes?
Would you consider numbering your videos,so people and keep track of the episodes,
Residence certificate? Can a tourist buy?
I never considered getting a Honda Wave. I just sold my 2006 Honda scooter a day ago. I bought it 2nd hand in around 2011 or 12. but I still have a few other bigger bikes to ride. but I will keep my eyes open for a new 2nd hand scooter. because sometimes it's the best way to get around town. and park easy. with storage under the seat. but I have never been into the Wave. but I've never ridden one. so I don't really know. but for me I would rather have something like the new Honda 160 click or even the smaller engine one. or the Yamaha Aerox 155. all the Japanese scooters are pretty bullet proof. and I'm sure if I keep my eye open for a 2nd hand one I'll find one in new condition with maybe 5000 km on it for less then what the wave cost new. is the wave automatic ? or you have to shift gears. because part of what I love about a small little scooter is it being automatic and so easy to ride on small little Thai streets in traffic without having to shift.
how long is the little boat ride ? I haven't been to the floating market for many years because last time I went with some visiting people. they charged us all 200 baht each to get in. even me with the thai license. but I don't remember if I showed the license to them or not. but for some reason I feel like I did. do you know if it was always free with a thai license for a foreigner ? or if they changed that sometime since the last time I was their. all I remember was thinking that a person who lives in Thailand shouldn't have to pay to go into a place to buy things and spend money. so I never went back. but now that I know I can get in free I think I will go visit it again.
Not much shifting around town, just leave in 2nd gear 😂
Was that a manual or automatic? I would definitely go with blue over red.
Manual - Matic. 4 gears, no clutch.
In another video, you mentioned a 125 backbone and perhaps a 150?
-- Am I conflating your discussion about a different type of scooter??
Can I ask why you didnt go for the 125 Wave ?
I think for the extra $$$ there wasn't enough justification over the 110.
Nice bike!
Just curious to know how Vespa stacks up against the Japanese bikes? Vespas at least for me look really cool if not the coolest of all those type of bikes, but I wonder if they are reliable?
Vespa's for the asian market are made in China, VietNam, Indonesia and India NOT in Italy !
@@schael4164 Whoa that’s good to know.
They are more expensive than the Japanese bikes, but some of the Thais really like the style so they do sell fairly well here.
Hey Lucas, how many bikes you have now....5 and a truck ,lots of variety.
Something like that 🤣👍
Something like that 🤣👍
Time for a fleet updated Video 👍 I like the Blue Wave
Hi, how much do you want for the old scooter, I live in Jomtien and need one for small trips, cheers
He said in the video he won't sell to someone he knows because he doesn't want the hassle if something goes wrong with it later down the line
Yep.. I'm a dumbass subscriber for a long time... I truly felt the pain of your loss..
When I was there a long time.. Honda Wave was my choice. 17inch real steel wheels.. Small magnesium wheels shatter It smoothed out the 'rutted roads'.. You know there are many.. Waves, also have a 'thin' footprint in traffic. Maneuvering between ... stuck traffic.. was a bit easier.
Thank you take care great video
Thank you 👍
Do you still have 300l? Let's go ride!
Any three wheelers there?
Nice bike, like the market tour, thanks for sharing…
1:15...Is that a kick start?
4:30 Forza 350! Honda won't bring those 350 scooters to America.
how much is the pcx and i am in korat so will be out of your hair visiting pattaya in a couple of weeks
🙏🏍🍻
Nice video, and a good deal on that scooter. I think I am going to need something bigger. I want one bike (if possible) that I can take up country and still not too big to drive around town. Appreciate any feedback from anyone. I am on several Discord channels, and research there as well. I plan to Emigrate in June of 2024, and will shortly be joining Lucas' channel for more in-depth guidance. Peace to all.
Maybe look at some of the motorbikes in the range of 300 cc. Although I don't really recommend the scooters in that segment, many people here swear by them.
@@Rides4Kickz thanks so much for the feedback!
How much was it in usd?
You have the perfect hair!! Lol! Sorry but true❤
Thanks 😅
The Yamaha MT-09 SP has some great features like cruise control and ohlins suspension. Awesome torque from the 3 cylinder engine.
I remember when I sold my old Suburban back in the US. I had a very nice set of tires on it. When I sold it, I made sure to say I was selling the tires, (and I sold it at a reasonable price for just the tires), the old Suburban they were mounted on was just a freebie. 🙂
Lolz, good stuff 🤣👍
