- Over the last couple years a whole new class of bike has evolved and most are available for sale here right now in Pattaya. Today I'll go around town and showcase this new class, which I believe is not only designed for everyday use, but priced to be very popular options here in Pattaya and elsewhere

I dunno, but for me around town I think a good scooter beats em all. Love the under-seat lockable storage big enough for 2 helmets, and the hook for grocery bags. I've hauled so much crappola on a scooter that I could never fit on a 400cc bike.
Very true, the scooter is the pack mule of Thailand.
Absolutely agree plus a lot less thinking about shifting, down shifting, clutch control and maneuverability. Scooters are definitely the better choice in se asia.
Although I'm buying me a Speed 400, I have to say that my wife's new Click 160 is quite quick and very utilitarian. I have a couple other smaller bikes too for the quick around town trips.
Very true the scooters are ideal for Thailand no need for anything bigger manoeuvrability is the key
That Triumph is exactly what i've been looking for.
Same with me. I was considering a Royal Enfield Hunter, but then stumbled upon this bike and said...this is the one. Royal Enfields are under powered and I found it a little bulky.
Great video. Can you do same for mopeds?
Good thing they are not so cubic hysterical in Thailand. Smaller rides are good enough
Love the comparison video, the Triumph looks like a nice bike for the class, I have a Royal Enfield Meteor 350 and maybe just a tad underpowered for longer trips……bike videos are my favorite😃
Right you are
@@SurinLeiningen Hey Andrew, still love the Royal though😃
In their 350 class, I felt most at home on the Classic.
Ok, I was sure you was going to go on to the RE Hunter 350 after the 400 speed, seemed a much more comparable bike for city riding than the Himalaya 411.I even looked into if it was available on the Thai market to be sure that it was comparable and it is and retails at tb 33,900 apparently.
Your motorcycle content is what got me to subscribe, seems like years ago now. I've been enjoying your content ever since! Thank you Lucas!!
Then it's about time you realised it's Loucous not Lucas.
Thanks 👍👍🙏
I should have known better to comment. I can never do anything right. Sorry won't happen again.

Those Triumph bikes look great, solid quality all the way, your bike videos are a real highlight on the channel, I still think back to your friend picking out and riding that Green Royal Enfield. I wonder if he still has it.
This is a great video Your coverage of the local bike suppliers is excellent.

I'm all-in for the Speed 400. I'm hopefully going to receive mine in March
Nice, if you ordered one today, they told me May or possible June
@@Rides4Kickz I put a queue deposit down in the middle of November.
Great tour of some great bikes Loucous. Would love to see a video on what you need for riding. Such as where to get good helmets (ones to get, ones to avoid....I can't seem to find a Shoei anywhere in Pattaya), explain the insurance and what do most people get, dash cams for motorcycles, etc. Thanks for the great content !
Great review! Many great options!
Luke as always you did a great job reviewing this new class of bikes. You are very knowledgeable when it comes to motorcycles. I agree with your overall choice also.
Thanks Lucas for the review, great as always.🙏🙏🙏
My pleasure!
The Triumph is great value for the quality it has.
Yay! Glad to see ya❤🎉🎉
Great information. As usual. Thanks for your effort and knowledgeable input.
My pleasure!
Great bike episode. Definitely has my gears grinding. Thanks Loucous 👍😎🙏
🤣😂👍👍
Wow a kick starter
I didn't know they were still making those
Very interesting to me
Great show Lucas. Good morning and as alway's stay cool 😎 kind and generous.
Many Thanks, will do 👍
The Huskvarna looks divine, but it is so pricey...
Triumph for sure build quality is top notch good value for money too
Yes, build quality seemed to mirror their more expensive bikes 👍
Nice review👍, keep up the good work with the motorcycle reviews🤙👍.
Thanks Carlos
I miss seeing Lan's cameo sitting on some of the bikes.
Great '' BIKE ''' Tour .. Makes Me wantin' to go Shopping ...
Go for it! 😂👍
Thanks for the bike update, really cool seeing the stuff we can’t get in the US
The first time I rode a Yamaha SR 400 was sometime in the early 80s. Fun to drive around town but not for longer road trips
Nice reviews.
I've got a 2019 Kawasaki Z400 here in Australia, it was my first bike and while it's great for everyday riding and I've taken it on some dirt roads ok, the suspension doesn't have that much travel. Also the seat height is low but the pegs are not so it's a bit cramped. Also the seat is very thin and hard and being the same as the Ninja 400 it tilts forward too much. I'll probably get something a bit larger next with a more off road flavour, but nothing too large and heavy. Last time in Thailand I rented a Yamaha Aerox 155 scooter and found that great for traveling, it felt stable on the highway and could do 110 at a push so keeping up with cars but was also very manoeuvrable and easy to ride. So much better than the 125cc scooters I've ridden. It was also fun in the corners.
I thoroughly enjoyed your latest video, thanks Lucas. I’m presently in the market for a new bike (just arrived back in the LOS, now living in Huai Yai Chonburi). I’m curious as to why you seem to favor the (admittedly pretty cool) scrambler type over larger scooters like the Forza and X-Max for town and day trips.
Trying to collect food for thought on what kind of wheels to get…. 😀
Perfect timing for your video Lucas. I will have a chance to test the Triumph 400 in a few weeks. 👍
Have fun!
A very cool selection of Bikes,
👍👍👍
I seen them at bike week also
The green colour one was nice
Cheers Lucas 👊 💪👊
Very nice and well put together video. Some people don't need the biggest and most expensive. My junior year in college , I had just gotten marroed. Working my way through, I had about a 12 mile drive to work. I bought a used 50CC Yamaha. It did not go fast but cheap reliable transportation. Rain was a problem so my last year I bought a Nash with very little floor board and two seats. Could not wait to graduate and get out of it. You brought back memories!
Great story Timothy 😊👍👍🙏
I like the e-bike , thanks Lucas
Cheers mate
🙂
Thanks for the updates of a bikes there in Pattaya. Arn't just a few models of Harleys made in Thailand, Lucas. Good video of all motorcycles. The ones with spring front forks, not good, like the hydraulic forks. Thanks Lucas for the motorcycle reviews.
You bet Carleto 👍
The Triumph is great value there is also a Scrambler version of the Speed, but I have my heart on a Honda Transalp 750 for adventuring around Thailand.
Fine choice 👍
one couldn't go past the Honda 300 for the price ................ good video again mate , good content
Thanks 👍
Yep, the trumpy would be my pick as well.
Great to see a bit more bike stuff Lucas . sure do miss Vee .
Im at 1400km on my 400x down in south Thailand--you wont be disappointed
I think that range might be perfect for me. Will want to travel a little (not marathons), but still have an easy bike to get around town on.
That tricycle looks like a double wheelchair .... lol
Loved the Triumphs ... look great!
But my choice would be the Harleys!
Ive got a buddy who is autistic that wants to travel to Thailand (and Japan's and Cambodia) with me. That little 3 wheeler would be perfect for us. He absolutely abhors being touched or touching anyone else and riding on the back of a bike would be like torture for him. Something like that three wheeler would let us explore at his pace.
Yeah, sounds like the perfect fix, be sure to get the large one though, these are a bit rare, most are much smaller.
Pick my 400x up on the 1st of March so I get a 24 reg looking forward to a sunny English summer 🏍️🏍️🏍️
RE Scram looks so classic
cool cobber .... good comparison for the bikes.... mate up in Chiang Mai just came off his 650 kwaka (funeral was on Monday) so a 400 (ish) cc bike probably is a better choice.... I will stick with my ADV for a while longer (slower pace)
:) THANKS MUCH and yo covered the s 400 cc offerings VERY WELL! AMAZING Harley makes a 400, even if only for India! Not so much here in US for that size though. ALL the BEST and Cheers ! :)
Thanks Marty 👍👍🙏
They would all be acceptable bikes especially with 6 speeds. The Triumph looks like a great buy!
I also like the trend towards Adventure scooters.
I love my Royal Enfield Hunter 350 But that Triumph 400X could tempt me into trading it in ❤
Beautiful bike and nice content 😊👍🎉🎊🏍🛵🦽
Thanks 👍
The Triumph 400cc is going to be a big seller in the world and seems a very nice design with the analogue speedo.
The Triumph 400cc is a good price in Thailand at 157,500 baht when the Honda CB300R is 155,200 baht.
I think you are over estimating the future sales of this Triumph 400cc in Thailand as the Honda CB300R has not been a great seller and has been available since late 2017.
Harley Davidson sales are going to continue to fall as it is generally bought by oldies and they are a dying breed.
The Yamaha SR400 is too expensive in Thailand.
Honda are talking about releasing a 4 cylinder 400cc motorbike in late 2024. That would be interesting.
I would welcome that 4 cyl 400. Hope that is going to happen 👍
4,500$ US not bad had the speed triple and loved it, after the mission impossible movie everyone wanted one 😂
That Harley is awesome. It's too bad it's not planned for the Thai market. I think it would do very well.
Nice, we were there in week 4 2024 in Jomtien, Harley Davidson, a few hundred meters from Pattaya floating market. However, I have 4 HD's and 2 Guzzi's and would never replace them with a 400ccm 🙂
👍👍👍
Was hoping you'd include the Zontes 350r
In Japan, the 400cc market is huge due to licensing restrictions, but I think many of the models are for Japan only.
Good video 😊 Interestingly, I looked at a Triumph 900 ex demonstrator at the dealership and they wouldn't give any warranty on it. On a bike that was over 400k 😮
Hi Lucas , in India , Harley Davidson had stopped manufacturing bikes in 2020 .
How were the vibrations on the Triumph 400 single? My first bike was an updated Rebel 300 (same motor as the honda 300's in your video), and it vibrated like paint mixer at the hardware store. Good for in town stuff, but at higher rpm, it was bad. It had to go. So I'd be concerned about vibrations with the Triumph. As a daily driver in Pattaya, I would just get a scooter. For longer trips, perhaps a parallel twin for smoothness.
I didn't go out on the road at speed, just around their grounds, but didn't feel much vibration through the bars or pegs. Fairly nimble at low speed and did not feel heavy, that was the big thing I was looking for.
Totally agree with your assessment and with 10kthb off for a Demo bike great value 👍
👍👍👍
Ive had a Svartpilen 401 for a couple of years now. Great little bike for all the reasons you've given, although the ground clearance limits what you can do with it. In Thailand though I think a KTM Duke 390 will be a better choice. Much the same bike (engine, frame, suspension etc) but probably with better dealer support?
It sounds like your actually looking for a 1969 BSA 440 Victor. I often regret selling mine so many years ago, but the brake was on the left and I was getting it confused with my newer, brake on the right, bikes.
Thanks for the new bike tour; very interesting. The bikes are quite different from what is offered in Canada. I found it strange that most of the new 400's are single cylinder. I would opt for the Honda myself, I like the twin cylinder and I trust the Honda. My second choice would be the Harley if and when they offer it in Thailand.
👍👍👍
excellent review and you ofter sway my choice on bikes.. Often wondered for the taller rider? I'm 193cm and somewhat limited in deciding. Which for me?
Yes, I am only about 180 cm, you definitely have to go and test for yourself 👍
Hi Lucas. I know a little larger than the bikes you were covering in this segment, but did you notice if the Triumph dealer has a Trident 660 on the floor?
Thanks for the video. My 2004 Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350cc is kick start only. Most of the motorcycles that I have owned have been kick start only bikes. I can always rely on my leg to start the bike. I can always rely on gravity to feed the carburetor.
Not when dirty fuel blocks the way.
Cool, I just couldn't go back to kick start and carburetors, I guess I'm spoiled 😂👍
The latest Honda to arrive on the Australian market is the Honda Navi. It has a 108cc engine, drum brakes, a carburetor, electric start and.....a kick start lever!@@Rides4Kickz
Good video….. I have a triumph speed master for touring around Thailand… real happy with it ..I started looking around last week for a small get around bike .. but I need something that can haul laundry.. groceries.. water.. and beer…. Was looking at a Vespa 300… but they wanted 222,000 for it and couldn’t get racks for it… so my search continues… that 400 triumph is sweet… maybe a trip back there is in my future…thanks for all the good info..
Vespa 300 is USD 10,500 in Jakarta!! Not sure why so much higher than in Thailand??
lol, water, laundry and beer? You may need a pickup truck 😂🤣
lol…. Yes I’ve been thinking about looking at the new Toyota pickup that came out….
Wow… that’s super high…, 6500 usd in Thailand….
I miss the motobike road trip vlogs.
The speed 400 is for me.
The forks are upside down though.
I would fix that soon as i got it :-)
Kawi z400rs might be an idea👍
Looked one yesterday in Burriram. Quite a top heavy gadget. W800 for everyday use but Kwaka have really fooked up with colour schemes.
The Triumphs are top notch build quality.
I'm with the Honda, I think its a good price. As for the Kawa it's called a street bike....I think. ❤
Hey Lucas , back when I was a lot younger I had a 350 cc Yamaha. with 57 horsepower, ,Yamaha 350 lc ypvs, it was an amazingly quick bike in the the 80,s , I loved it ,Lucas , I have ridden a scooter in pattaya a long time ago , but now it’s not for me anymore, the bike’s that you are looking at seem so under powered , 40: hp for a 400 cc , wow
Great video buddy , I will be in pattaya next week 🙏🙏✌️
RD350 2 stroke???
@@nevillekettle1823 yes buddy. Many year’s ago
On the Harley 440 thing/ the heavy duty frame could be a blessing for the motorcycle/ not for performance but for survival of the motorcycle/ it would really be a "neg, to have the frame bend on the wonderful Indian Road System. The brand must maintain the image of quality for even simple things like a frame strong enough for what Indian Riders will Ride daily. **on the general popularity In Japan, there is a Discount for under 400cc, (399.9 etc.) so people pay less to have the 400cc class motorcycle or smaller, not sure how all the costs are for the USA, but Allstate is only charging me around $150 for the year on my Kawasaki Versys X300.
**in business classes we try to mention "total cost of ownership" just classic to check on all costs.
Did they stop selling Suzuki? I do love that Triumph
No, still here with the adventure series and the Katana
Does the Triumph 400 have a solid or hollow rear axel?
Wish I could enjoy a clutch in the city.
Not sure when it'll get to TH, but Honda just announced a new 400cc bike.
I find my CRF Rally a total PITA in town and just ride the scooter in town. I did a parking lot test ride on the Triumph 400 at Burapa. It's a well put together bike but for 150k I'd much rather just buy a used MT07/XSR700 and keep the scooter for in town.
Did they do the new triumph motocross bike?
We have got the Harley Davidson X, Down Under.
Whats the cc limit before you have to upgrade your license ?
What happened to the Stallion bikes. I liked the Café Racer. Was a nice looking bike and reasonably priced. Built quality I’m not sure but they seemed ok
Love your motorbike content Lou. Non of these bikes would ignite my candle mate... Not saying they wouldn't be good. But just not for me 👍
Did Thailand ever get the Honda NM4?
i think ill wait till they work the bugs out of the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 .
Do you know if the electric trikes require a license?
OMG there's hope for me yet driving in Pattaya. LOL. I have gotten a quote on shipping my van which is fully equipped with adaptive equipment. Will be around $4500.
👍👍👍
was not sharing any pricing on the Kawasaki's intentional? Would have like to known.
Heya Loucous! I wondered if you (or anyone else here) knew what kind of scooter/motorbikes the are, in the background, at 12:26 or so. it looks like they see "One" on the back fender, but I can't tell what they are. Just curious!
I believe they were just some off brand electric scooters.
@@Rides4Kickz ok, I wondered. I couldn’t find anything online. I always try to look before I ask you stuff:)
I saw the orange colored one in the background and had to ask!
Bajaj Kawasaki Dominar is worth a look Lucas👍
Yes, I saw one at the moto expo, that is also very popular in India.
The Triumph Speed 400 is a Bajaj. Made in India.
2024 honda nx500 . 200k baht it's the best bike for thai....with hard bags 55l and 2 .....32l better looking then the Triumph easy around pattaya great at speeds. Dirt no problem. I have a 21 HD fat boy back home its almost that fun to ride.
that's not a bad price for the 3 wheeler
Americans are feeling envy! 400cc range is an abandoned market in USA, which I feel is a mistake. We do need higher power for high speed / longer roads, but the price points would get a lot more people into the market. Makes me sick we have this e-vehicle propaganda, when low displacement 2 wheel is the most environmentally friendly think you can do. Thank you for this excellent field report.
The Triumph 400 is now out in America. Kawasaki has the 400 Ninja out in America also.
!!!ha May 4th I arrivo and straight to ev bike.... it was gonna cost me £400 to hire a small mobility but for that price I buy a big one sell it back for whatever the loss.... it has been 10 years sinc I been (leukemia) so last time I could crawl around Pattaya (and did) but alas this time I need a mobility scooter but if that shop has models at around £400-600 and no licence needed that all I need :)
Yeah, a small one would be around that price range, this was the super large size so more expensive.
Cool. I design art for motorbike helmets
Would you put the ktm 390 duke and adventure in this category?
Not the adventure but certainly the Duke. That is another 400 cc light weight, around town bike that one could consider. The KTM dealer here closed a while back, still in BKK though.
Honda CB400SF has 53 Hp.
I had one here in Australia but they have ceased production. Shame as it was the leading seller in Japan.
I wouldn’t be getting a motorbike in Thailand due to the heat on the legs during traffic.
