I recently beat the redguns using Rusty's build to see if I could accomplish what he did with his build. It's not a bad machine. It's good to see others had the same idea.
One of the better presets post buff but pre buff wasn't really worth it as the gains in speed and ACS recovery weren't as good as they are now. And the pistol always ran out of ammo all the time.
@@JC-eo2qe Gonna need a source on that one. I know he doesn't show up in the in the true ending but we also don't know if he's alive. It's assumed that either he died to Walter on top of the Xylem at some point while we were inside it or ALLMIND kills him aswell.
On my first playthrough I thought you had to fight Michigan to save Rusty, so I was surprised he survived it then on my second playthrough I played this mission and thought, damn, Rusty is the GOAT.
Rusty not only has a good ubild, but a stylish one aswell. The rverse joint legs and mobility are sick and the laser slicer is one of the coolest weapons in the game
Go to 2:13 for the deployment of G1 Michigan (also, should note: LOVED the detail of the lyrics only kicking in once the "real fight" begins, a la the actual MGR:R)
I remember doing this on my first run. I was out of ammo, with only one shot of song birds and my swords left with less than 200 AP. Might have been the closest fight I ever had in any game.
always fun to remind yourself that these vehicles are the size of buildings particularly when they occasionally dash toward you at mach 15 and juggernaut, cataphract, and the heavy combat helicopter (side note, why is the PCA's attack helicopter bigger than their actual standard warship) when do we get the timeline where a couple of the redguns come with us to steal the data from that one survey base and when the PCA fleet arrives we just roll over their silly little ships surely we aren't the only one who realized you can just sit on the deck and be completely safe lmao also my OCD demands that I point out the screen for Rusty should say V.IV not I.V. xddddd

It’s the Steel Haze preset, that’s Rustys build. You get the info for beating him in the arena, I think he’s C rank. If you’re looking to do it in the earlier game the generator (hokushi) isn’t unlocked til (iirc) chapter 5. The frame is all nachtreier, RH is the burst pistol(midway ch3 unlock I think), RS 3 shot plasma missile, LH laser slicer (i think ch3 or 4 unlock) Alula booster I forget the ACS

You get info at a few other points too, like after the intro mission you get the AC data for the last G13 since he’s one of the wrecks you check. Ngl, they’re all suboptimal, but Rustys build is pretty alright. I’ve been debating a Mad Stomp Only challenge run.
I also just realise that Rusty singlehandedly destroyed the Arquebus fleet in the LoR route. Y’know, that fleet you destroy with the help of Carta in the Xylem and infinite EN? Rusty did it solo.
He only pilots Orthus after he leaves Arquebus, the mission to kill the Redguns is ordered by Arquebus HQ so if Rusty takes this mission should you choose the other one he still needs to keep to his cover
"lore accurate" *slams into a wall and fires off plasma missiles into said wall instead of at the target* i guess he has to be a little clumsy, otherwise he would be a lot harder to beat.
1:36 pretty sure in lore Rusty doesn't whiff his pulse missles by slamming them into the wall next to him, especially given his accuracy lore wise. Not a dig, just funny given the title.
You got it mixed up, Unknown Territory Survey comes right after this and we never destroy STEEL HAZE, it just gets an arm blown off and Rusty retreats and goes AWOL, he ends up giving it to the RLF, you hear a voiceline about it in the Liberator ending route.
Rusty's build is so stylish. A lot of NPC builds have obvious avenues for improvement, but Steel Haze improves the pilot.
Sampu and ransetsu aren't the most synergistic but you can definitely make it work

@@stale_1 unironic skill issue. The Viento and Trueno are top tier weapons, and the orbit helps keep pressure on.
Technically Rusty is also the wall climber and the worm killer. He is not however the only gun 13 to have ever survived this long
