And without homemaking, the rest of life doesn’t really happen, or happen well. Humans need a functioning home in order to thrive.

I can’t tell you how refreshing it is to hear you encourage homemakers! I’ve heard two ladies in my past make the comments of how bored they were staying home…”because you can only clean a house so much.” There IS more to it and you demonstrate it so well. We don’t have to have eight kids, a farm and live in the country to be purposeful. When you talk, I hear start where you are, do what you can with what you have. As cliche as it sounds, time goes way too fast. I’m sixty-two and wonder where the time went! Thank you again for lifting up homemakers, and those ladies that dream of doing it. That little sleeper is a genius idea! Wish I’d had one with my son.🙌🏻

I love that you said, “I get to be a chef, and a designer and sometimes an artisan baker.” That’s a really neat way to look at it when sometimes it just feels like we’re cooking another meal or replacing something that fell apart in the house. Your channel always encourages me in homemaking!

This! When I find myself griping about so many dishes, or the never ending laundry, or the mess on my freshly cleaned floors... I remind myself of this. I get to clean dishes, because we have food to eat. I get to fold laundry, because we have more than one set of clothes. I get to vacuum again, because I have a house to live in. We are so privileged and so blessed!

Great video … two things though Lisa - I cringed when you sharpened your knife and used it immediately without washing it … it leaves tiny metal shards on the blade when you sharpen it which will get on your food - so always wash your knife after sharpening … also - the AAP, and others do not recommend weighted sleep sacks any longer - more articles now state DO NOT USE weighted sleep sacks and Amazon won’t even allow the sale of them … so please everyone do your research first!! Just FYI - love your videos!!!

There IS value in homemaking. Making our families and homes a priority, if its possible, IS important. I have been a single mom and I have felt like I had to do it all. I remarried and we made the decision for me to stay home and I feel like it was the best decision. Often its treated as if its not a job. It is a full time job and children and all their different stages take time and effort.

Great video Lisa. Even us retired age ladies get overwhelmed and have many hard days being homemakers, I remember my Mum saying. Men get to retire but women don’t, we still have to cook and clean and pay bills. But for the most part, I would t trade it for any other job. I still do lots of canning, hunt, garden, keep bees and clean the house when there is time. Anyways, the hard days are out weighed by the happy, rewarding days, 🌷🇨🇦

My heart melted when victor was smiling ❤ I watch your videos to relax and I get inspired. I agree, there are many roles you play as a homemaker. I stay with my dad. I'm unemployed at the moment so I've been doing things around the house. But sometimes, it's not valued. I get told, you are at home what did you even do today being at home snide remarks. It just adds insult to injury at times. But I know how much I cherish putting food on the table, having a clean house and doing the laundry etc

Lisa, to me your amazing woman. I give you so much credit to do n be who you are. I also admire you. The generation as of today is so very different than when I grew up. Everyone is in a hurry, no stopping to smell the roses. It’s become very materialistic n money talks big. Homes going for millions today. Children are growing up with technology n lack of respect. Morsels have truly left this generation. Yet your family is being raised with love, respect n much knowledge. Your a mother who’s always there to protect her chicks n feed them well n give them a home with many wonderful memories.
I know there’s more women who follow you on your Utube channel n your Pod Cast n I like to say kudos to them all. You all are women to admire with much strength n respect.

Our mouths start watering while we watch you cook and then we plan what we’re going to try making that week. We had so much fun making Dutch Baby pancakes! We all get so excited seeing your children in videos and Just call them buy the name of our own kids that they look like. You may choose not to do so for privacy reasons, but my children would just be so thrilled to watch a video of you showcasing what your kids do with you in the kitchen or around the farm. You are so right Homemaking is harder sometimes than other times. We all need to be encouraged and thank you for this!
It’s also good for us to encourage other homemakers when they struggle. It’s good to find a Titus 2 “mom” -one who can pray for you and encourage you, for truly homemaking is what we are designed to do by God. What He ordains He maintains and we can help that maintenance by just being a listening ear and giving a words of affirmation. ❤️🙏🙌✝️
You do that for us! And we can do it for others in our life too.

But cooking for 2 is a great and noble ministry too! I’m 71 and find that making a happy home for my husband is rewarding in the same way it was when the children were there. I miss those days too but try to enjoy every minute of these. In some ways they are even sweeter, for we know our homemaking days will be over if we live long enough.
May God bless your cooking for 2 with beauty, love and joy.

Such good advice! Decluttering. I'm at the age to finally compose that "Dear Family, I have enough stuff..." letter to all my loved ones who struggle to think of Christmas and birthday and Mother's day gifts for the person who after a lifetime, has already everything they could need and has very few new "wants". Instead of stuff, gift me an afternoon of your time redeemable anytime of your availability and choosing in the upcoming year so we can go to lunch together, or take an adventure walk on a hiking trail we haven't walked, take a walking tour of a downtown in a city or small town located between where you live and I live and learn something regional about that place you never would have known if you hadn't stopped. Time is the most precious commodity most people have for different reasons at different stages in your life and it becomes the single most important thing to your elders as they realize they just want to be more content and closer to family and friends instead of acquiring more stuff.❤ Our time is rapidly running out.

Thank you so much for this video!! I come from a line of women, be they family or friends, who are fantastic homemakers but ANGRY because they have to do it all. Watching you and Becky at Acre Homestead gives my heart wings. The way you've shown love to your home and family is gorgeous. I feel as if I've been living in a foreign place and am suddenly surrounded by people who speak my language and know my culture. I used to be angry and resentful.I forgive myself for feeling that way because you can't lay down with the dogs and not pick up some fleas. (not that those ladies are dogs by any means.) I simply reacted in a way that was familiar.
I've been shifting away from anger and resentment in the home for years, since the 90s. Extricating myself from old belief systems has taken time. I have had times when I feel overwhelmed with the people around me. Observing the culture and society around me while working at being graceful towards myself and others will probably be a lifelong path that gets a little easier to manage but will never go away. It's starting to hit me what has shifted, how it has shifted and why. These times are rough and finding my footing has phases of feeling separated from the world around me. I want to climb on my roof and holler at my neighbors to grow food and learn scratch cooking. I have to breath and take in that we each have our own path to walk. Thank you so much for showing your path and allowing me and others to be a part of your community. You are a precious gem.
(P.S. I know you're human and likely have your "moments". That's okay for you and for all of us.)
    Cheers!

One very important element missing in running a home is having an on board supporting husband. Without his support and cooperation the task of the wife & mother would be very difficult & even miserable. On board, supporting husbands of large families are a minority here in the states. With all the work & business of the wife/mother it would be crucial for the husband to be busy in something he personally enjoys doing as a man, so he doesn’t start complaining & stoking arguments.

When I was a homemaker full time I was so fulfilled, but when I went back to working outside the home full time I asked everyone to pitch in more. 15 years later I’m missing homemaker time, love the added income, but watching my 20’s daughters looking forward to their futures leaving space/time while using skills I practiced in organizing/cooking/decorating. One daughter’s house shopping and loves the old country homes dreaming of how they will fix up their potentially forever spaces. My son in law wants new, clean look and modern conveniences. It’s going to be so fun for me to watch them bring it all together!

This is so needed for me. Thank you! Watching your channel has helped me realize how many skills you really need as a homemaker. I’m not just crazy for feeling overwhelmed by the learning curve. I have two toddlers and your channel has helped me so much navigate and put language to what I’m doing and what this job actually is

Thank you for your encouragement! I get so tired of doing the same things all the time. I feel like my 3 kids are so ungrateful. They were not raised to be this way but they sure can be. It makes me want to just quit when they act this way. But I can't I'm there mother lol. Thank you God bless!!!

I love what you share about homemaking! It is in such devoted service to your family. I'm wondering if you would be willing to discuss Luke's role as the leader of your family, and how that intersects with your role as the homemaker? How do you collaborate, how do you allow him to lead, where does he defer to your expertise as mother and homemaker?

Thank you for this video. Some days I get overwhelmed with all that I have to do. My non homesteading friends don’t understand when you’re responsible for all the food etc, you can’t just run to the grocery and have dinner ready. Some days I think how am I going to get all these things done today.🙄 I’m glad I’m not the only one that feels this way.

The most important thing for a wife and mother is to feel appreciated and loved by them. I also laugh when my family thinks we have a self cleaning house! It certainly is true when they say, "A mother's job is never done".

I thought you like a suggestion for a segment. Color Easter eggs with your kids using natural dyes like red onion, turmeric, etc. Go over ways to display. Then show some great recipes using hard boiled eggs. Kind of simplistic, but I would definitely enjoy it.

Thank you so much for this video today! It‘s already been said by others but when you said “I get to be an interior designer, chef, artisan baker…” that really hit home for me (no pun intended 😂). I have so many interests and at the moment don’t work outside of our home. Being at home allows me (as you said) to actually do a little bit of all the things I love to do. Thank you for this reminder! I appreciate you sharing your thoughts and experience, and for your encouragement here on your channel. P.s. recently tried out some of your sourdough recipes and they were great!
