man when life seems unbearable or like there's way too much to deal with, watching your videos just reminds me of the dream, and the beautiful simplicity of living peacefully on a homestead. Thank you Lisa
You're so good at vlogging & editing, Lisa!✨️ Your content is so enjoyable to watch and your voice is so soothing to listen to...🍃 Thanks for making TH-cam a more beautiful place!🌾
If your tomatoes drop in production like that, it is usually a calcium deficiency in the soil. Once the calcium is used up on the first round of tomatoes the plant isn’t able to produce the next round. Could be too many “sucker” branches as well.
About your tomato plants- make sure the tomatoes you plant are indeterminate plants and not determinate! Determinate means you’ll get one big harvest all at once, and indeterminate will continually produce over the season. ☺️
I watched this with my 2 year old. He LOVES kitchen “work”. He kept tapping me and saying “ummy, ummy” for yummy… meat and pumpkins are his current fav foods 😋 thank you for inspiring this sweet memory!
I had a very similar experience with my tomatoes. And I had peppers until we had an early frost in late October. My peppers were beautiful and also market size and quality. I do container and raised bed gardening so I thought it was my soil quality but the vloggers that I follow from across the US and local friends all had similar experiences, regardless of their type of garden.
The trees around your home are gorgeous in the fall! I love all your recipe ideas. How sweet and beautiful was Victor watching you and smiling at his mama! Seeing all your children in the video is so special! Thank you for sharing your days!
Love the voice over vlogs. The narrated format are definitely my favorite vlogs to watch. I've been following you for a while and I love the evolution of your vlogging
We live about 15 miles from Paw Paw, Michigan which was named after the paw paw tree. I recall seeing a piece of the fruit years ago. I will be looking into them for sure next year. Thanks for sharing about them and what you did with them. I am older but still learn new things from your videos. Have a great weekend.
The peace and knowledge I gain from watching your videos is really lovely. You have an amazing skill homemaking and making us feel a part of your families daily life. Thank you for your hard work Lisa!
Victor is becoming quite a lively baby. I loved the garments you showed us that you've found for yourself recently. Classic styles. Using leftover bread pieces to make breadcrumbs is a good idea. We keep a jar with leftover pasta pieces for adding to soups. Good to see someone enjoying the porch swing. Some parts of the country had a bumper crop of tomatoes. It always changes.
Beautiful way to celebrate the season! Victor is so adorable- those big smiles for momma ❤ The girls in the kitchen creating with the pawpaw is wonderful! Job well done !
I love your enthusiasm for creating in the kitchen using all the fresh ingredients available to you. What a cozy video this was… I felt wrapped up in autumn 😊
Wow, that’s great you’re still getting goodies from the garden! Going to try some of these recipes. Victor is such a cutie as all your children, the girls are beautiful just like mom. 😊
That little boy’s smile made my day….that swing is the bomb. Things have really evolved since I raised my kids and kept my grandkids as babies 8 years ago.
PAW PAW can be tasty, but NEVER dehydrate!!! I made the mistake of doing so, the fatty acids break down & cause much gastric distress. I found out the hard way, thought I would need the hospital. Baking with this native fruit also needs to be done with caution. Thanks for opportunity to share on your vlog
What happens if you don't rinse basmati rice? If the grains aren't washed before cooking, this residual starch will gelatinize in the hot cooking water and make the cooked grains of rice stick to each other. In some instances, such as sticky rice varieties like glutinous rice and arborio rice, this can lead to a very gummy texture
Plant indeterminate tomatoes for tomatoes throughout the growing season. Plant determinate tomatoes for a big harvest all at once. I use a combination for plenty to preserve but also fresh tomato till frost.
Fall blessings to you and your family! Victor is growing so fast and such an adorable baby. 💙 The hedge apples are lovely in your bowl arrangement. They fit right in with the small pumpkins, squash and gourds, etc. Adding the fall leaves and walnuts ade it even more interesting. 💙
I’m in Saint Charles MO and we just had our killing frost. I have herbs and greens still and I just dug up my ginger yesterday. I turn dry homemade bread into breadcrumbs as well. It’s useful for so many things. Score on the pawpaw tree!
I am impressed that you keep your personal life away from your channel and you show folks how to make sourdough, how to run a homestead, how to sew, how to manage a family, etc. You even teach on how to manage finances to a degree which inspires me because we live frugally too. You homeschool your children which is very impressive. Your channel is rich in content, Lisa, and your channel is number one in my opinion! God bless your family! You are a wonderful mother and homemaker too. ❤
I use leftover spaghetti meat sauce add rice and top with cheese for my stuffed peppers. For meatloaf I add rotel, oats, eggs for my meatloaf. Top with ketchup and my family loves.
Love the baby sounds! Also, I tried hedgeapples to keep away spiders and centipedes when I lived in an apartment that was built in the 1940s. It worked great to keep them out of the immediate area, but then instead of the closets they invaded my kitchen! Was not happy haha
It’s great that you’re still getting things from your garden. Your food always looks delicious and that was some beautiful looking bread! I’m sure your guest enjoyed it. Take care and God bless your precious family! 😀❤️
Fall is such a cozy season! Whenever I watch your videos, I can't help but notice that modern-looking bouncing seat for the baby. It seems incredibly useful. Would you mind sharing the brand and model? 💛
Thank you for showing the kids while Your working! Much more realistic for us moms that have kids underfoot 24/7 and still Trying to beautifully homemade without childcare etc. it can be done!😊
I noticed you snap off both ends of the green beans. You may prefer that and it seems that is traditionally the way it's done but I quit doing it that way. There's less waste and it works fine to only snap off the end that was attached to the plant. Keeping the pointy end intact. 😊
Tomatoes don't like to produce flowers when it's over 90°, wonder if that was the problem? Or maybe you need more phosphorus in the soil? I know mine took FOREVER to turn this year. I now have 30lbs of green tomatoes on large bread delivery trays that are turning inside. Love you Lisa
I’ve been doing the deep mulch/Ruth Stout method for tomatoes for the past few years and they LOVE it! Tomatoes love wet feet so keep that mulch deep and you’ll have tons of tomatoes.
I love thred up, don't get me wrong, but I only shop when there's a good sale because $30 for a used sweater is outrageous. Even if it's great quality. But I always love your wardrobe hauls. I pattered my whole fall look off of your video last year or the year before 😁
I just made sausage stuffed poblanos for breakfast. I had the opposite issue with tomatoes and peppers. My tomatoes did great but my peppers not so much. I’m doing lots of amending as we put the garden to rest for the winter.
Sounds like you may have planted a determinate variety of tomato. They produce a lot all at once and then are done. You want to look for an indeterminate if you want them all season. You probably already know this but just Incase you don't 👍
We just moved to NWA- my landlord told me to pick the "horse apples" (his wife called it "hedge apples" and throw them under the house to keep snakes and spiders out. I have 7 cats because I'm terrified of spiders so I am all over that!! Really not sure if it works but hey- I'm willing to try! 😂. Love your channel!!❤
Lol, where I'm from horse apples refers to horse poop and hedge apples come from a tree. Glad you didn't throw horse poop under your house 🤣I'm no fan of spiders in the house either !
Thank you for this beautiful video!! I love watching all your videos! Missouri is such a beautiful state!! And yes.. Victor is absolutely adorable and growing so fast 😊
I moved from Pa to Mo . And found tomatoes never did as good here . Tomatoes need cool nights to set fruit and I believe that is why they don’t produce as much . Did you ever see how they start producing in fall when the nights cool down but then don’t have time to mature. The Mennonite produce farmers here have there tomatoes on drip water . I believe that helps they need a steady supply of water not to much an not to little, I lay a soaker hose along the roots of mine then mulch them with a thick layer of straw , that helps keep the roots cool and evenly moist . It helps .
In Southern Iowa - our garden was prolific with peppers this year! I was amazed. Our tomatoes did pretty well - wondering if yours shut down from a dryer season?? Love the video - Victor is a dolly!! I am a new grandma now - and enjoying baby snuggles and cooing sounds!! Blessings to you Lisa and family.
Always stunning and relaxing to watch. ❤❤ baby snuggles . I remember so well. My babies are still babies to me but the breastfeeding attachment i miss so so much. I never achieved as as many tasks as you did 😂. My family and friends still remember me carrying and feeding as i went along. Toddlers in a sling too. I loved every minute of it. Though i still feel i cant remember it all. But in a way i can. I wish i wasn't in the ratrace back then and that i could cherish each and every precious moment. But i still remind my babies of it. Even though my eldest is nearly 18 and my baby girl is 9. And they are so thankful of their childhood. I am so proud even though it was a rocky road in my society with my eldest. Homemaking is very beautiful. Some days i feel low, and then my eldest daughter turns up with a friend . They stay for a while and she then says oh mum my friends, think you're the most lovely young caring mum with a visco house .... apparently it means super nice 😂 But its a rocky road here so many times but when i remind myself of Homemaking my heart fills with love ❤️ God bless everyone 🙏
We can buy hedge apples at our local markets for Christmas decor. I love the smell and we also slice them and let them dry out and they are pretty in baskets kind of like orange slices. The hedge apple has a pretty design when sliced. Hey, sell yours for some extra Christmas cash!
It must be a bit warm by you yet. Beautiful curtains blowing in the breeze. Was Victor giggling and laughing when you were cleaning the door glass? How cute. I think your taste in clothes is the same as mine. I would wear everything you pick out. Loving the skirt!
The late frost has been such a blessing on our gardens here too in Ontario! The kids loved snacking on the raspberries into November, I've personally never experienced such! It was amazing!
I recommend you invest in a smoker. I have a weber but there are a lot of great ones. The new thermometers you can carry around ensures you don't have to babysit it. We smoked all of our peppers, and then froze them individually. Adding a chopped smoked pepper or other veg, or meat is a game changer for some dinners. I shred the meat and freeze it. Then I thaw it and we can have smoked pulled pork sandwiches. Easy reheat dinners.

Here in zone 8 we’ve actually had a frost already that lasted three mornings. Earliest one I can remember here in Texas. My poor green beans. :(
