I am so excited. IMy daughter gave me a great sourdough starter and all the supplies for Christmas. I followed your recipe to the T. It was so easy. I make 2 loves every weekend. I was paying 5.99 a load at Whole Foods each week and now I make my own thanks to you. I’m 72 still work as a nurse. I have 15 grandchildren from my 5 kids. If I can do it anyone can.
Isn't it funny how before kids, experimenting with new recipes for every meal seemed like such fun? And then you become a parent, and it's all about cooking in big batches, meal prepping, and praying for as many leftovers as possible! 😅 Who else can relate to this (first-time mum here just sharing some notes!)?
And then they all grow up and leave and you have to try to pare down your recipes for just two people.😢 Remember, the days are long but the years are short. ❤
I really appreciate how you protect your kids from the public. Many influencers show their kids off and share extremely intimate parts of their kids days and development and it's always so uncomfortable to me, as if they are selling them. You are showing us that being a mom influencer whilst still respecting your kids privacy is possible and so calming!
I know I will get grief for this , but with a little one walking around the kitchen please push your knife back ,it was hanging of the edge of the counter, and accidents can happen so quickly, that said I think you are amazing and I hope other moms see it can be done , I’m glad I found your page , even an old Mamaw like me enjoys learning something new 💫
Your baby is getting so big and he is sooo beautiful. I love seeing your children in the kitchen with you whether they are helping or just crawling around on the floor
I agree. Lisa is very good at making it approachable. After doing sourdough for 15 years, I can honestly say it’s so much more forgiving that yeast bread. It’s so versatile too. You should go for it. In our small town I’ve probably given out 30 starters over the years and I always tell people to master one recipe- usually no knead sourdough boule. And also try one “discard” recipe- freezer waffles, English muffins. Or even start with pizza dough- it’s so easy and nice to keep in fridge for when you need a last minute meal. When people ask me for a starter they’ve usually watched a person who totally overcomplicates it and are intimidated. After they try a few times at one recipe and have success, they realize just how easy it is and feel confident to try so much more. And Lisa makes that easy because all her recipes are spot on.
I agree! Most people have such a long list of rules for sourdough, up until the idea that you need to feed your starter daily, even if you're not baking daily - that just absolutely isn't true, sourdough is super forgiving and it can go quite a while without a feed! If more people knew this I think more people would try it. It takes some practice (which imo is fun) but it really isn't very difficult in general.
Oh boy, you’re cooking not only makes my mouth water, but inspires me to do better. It’s only my husband and I , and after 42 years I gotta say, I’ve gotten lazy. However you inspire me to do better for us. Thanks Lisa, you’re like the friend I wish I had as a young wife and mother!❤😊
I just had a week off work and I’m proud that I finally did two things I’ve been wanting to try for years. I made some strawberry freezer jam and I got a jar of sauerkraut going. Sourdough starter (attempt #2 😅) is next on my list! Something I’m working on in the new year is embracing that there’s never going to be a perfect time and I’ll never have it all figured out if I don’t JUST START SOMEWHERE
As someone who has purchased a course from Lisa, I cannot recommend her enough... and now she's offering up her sour dough secrets??? That's a no brainer! She's the Queen of Sour Dough...Take the course!!
Have ever used sourdough starter to thicken your gravies or sauces. I tried it the other day, just a couple of tablespoons, it added so much flavour to my gravy...oh my goodness!
I've seen your channel before but always felt like I couldn't relate to you much because I just don't have the money for living like you do. But I've watched a few of your meal prep videos and I'm feeling really inspired to do more cooking like you do. I do make food at home 99% of the time but it's not from scratch as much as what you do, and probably never will be, but I could certainly do better than I am.
Lisa, Until I watched you make sourdough did I realize just how forgiving sourdough is in comparison to regular yeast dough. Thus you’ve brought me much joy and good bread to eat in my home Thank you for sharing your gifts with us 😊
I love watching all you do to feed your family and such a variety. I love how your daughter gives you a hand with different things! She’s going to be quite the young cook. Love your videos thank you for all of them!!
Amazing! God bless you and your beautiful family! You are truly an inspiration and love watching how your family is growing. Mother of 3 grown and now 2 grand babies Watching from Wausau WI.
Everybody I know that grew up on a farm hated farm life and got away as soon as possible. Old people, young people, all of them. I'm always intrigued by that and I don't know why but I just can't help but think of it whenever I see these types of videos and wonder what these kids will do. Just a thought 💭
I just love watching you, you put your whole heart into your homemaking. It just blesses me. Your children are so blessed, in many ways! Everything you make looks so mouth watering! Thank you so much for sharing! God bless🙏
I saw that reel too and was surprised! I have found sourdough to be so convenient. I don't have to worry about being on time and can store the dough in the fridge for days. I only add yeast, in addition to sourdough starter, when I want something quick to feed my family. Everything you made looks delicious and perfect for cold winter days! ❤
Just got the tortillas going....that after a baking marathon yesterday. All Farmhouse on Boone, sourdough bread, puff pastry, poptarts, the cinnamon roll star, and the buns. My starter had an amazing workout yesterday and was ready to go today
I love your channel. This may seem weird - but it’s calming/soothing - makes me happy to watch you. I am intimidated to start sourdough baking. I work full time with kids active in sports and it just overwhelms me to think of adding bread making on top of everything else. But I want to do it - so thanks for the encouragement! ❤
If you get a starter going there are many great recipes besides making bread. They don't seem as intimidating. I make a wonderful pizza every week with fed starter that has sat out all day. Just pour it onto a HEATED greased stone pan or cast iron. Cook it for 10 or so min they put toppings on and bake again. You don't have to roll it out. Just pour. On her website she has many recipes using the starter. I encourage you to try.
The refrigerator rise for dough is fabulous! I did it 3 days ago pulling out the dough yesterday to make rolls and bread - delicious and really a time saver! I’m going to prep more dough today for the weekend, when I’m off work again. I’m working on cleaning out the box freezer to work into recipes so it will be empty, cleaned and ready for summer harvests. 😊
Your videos are always so uplifting to me. I get so overwhelmed sometimes with three kids, trying to do sourdough, working part time, etc. Thanks to your blog I finally (after 14 years of failure) have a healthy and thriving sourdough starter that I'm confidently experimenting with. Watching your videos has shown me how little I need to be stressing about things like strictly following recipes, having a rigid meal plan, and so much more. Parenting and the other things I love in life fit so much better now. Thank you for constantly being an encouraging force :)
I started my sourdough journey in the last few weeks making waffles daily and a beautiful loaf in the solar oven. First sign of this fermented food being good to the guts is effortless BMs. This is huge to me! Plus the deliciousness! It's crazy not to have it in my plant-based diet. Feeding is easy. When I don't need the starter for a a few days I just stir in and cover with extra flour and leave it in the fridge. The night before needing it I activate it by hydrating with some water and leave it in the kitchen. I'm using different grains and seeds for different texture and taste. So fun! I love watching your very practical way of living.
Thank you for sharing your heart with us. It is truly encouraging!! I wish we’d had these kind of tutorials when my kids were little. So many young moms are away from their own families because of work transfer or military. You’re like the big sister who comes alongside and keeps them company. God bless sweet friend!!😊
When you use freshly milled flour its important to let autolyse for awhile and knead until it passes the window oanr test. Has made a huge difference in my bread. So much lighter and better.
I've struggled with sourdough in winter. My old house is SO drafty..the timing made it so I'd always have to do something in the night (uh no)..I really needed this video! I usually do my dough on a seed mat...I'll just leave it in a cold area to get it through the night. Thank you so much!❤
I use a little lamp in my oven. It keeps it around 72 degrees when my house is 63 degrees. My oven has a light, but it's integrated and I don't want to use it up.
I just want to say THANK YOU! I started a starter around thanksgiving and it took every bit of a month and then some for it to become active enough to use, but I stuck with it and have successfully made 3 loaves of sourdough since! I still have much room for improvement, but I can say with certainty that actually doing it is SO much easier than what it seems!!!!!!
Love love love how you included Victor on the floor and your pup waiting for meat 💕 it’s wonderful to see your family around even while you’re busy cooking. So many channels never show the realities of life with their family around
I am in my 3rd year of making sourdough bread, English muffins ,tortillas along with pancakes and deserts. I use your recipes and I can tell you I have gotten so use to the sourdough that I have not bought a loaf of bread in over a year…
I so enjoy watching you Cook, Bake, and turn out some Delicious Meals!❤ You are very creative in managing your kitchen! Your children in & out of the kitchen waiting for the next meal is nice! Your pup waiting patiently for a meat treat. Priceless!🐾❤️😘💋🫶🏻
Love your “day in your life” videos. I started making sourdough recipes and breads bc of watching you. Everyone loves my sourdough boules that I make using your recipe. And yes the ice storm shut down schools here in Kansas City area for 4 days!
You encourage me and remind me of how life was when my children were young. We just made do. My mom raised us that way. Keep raising your children with these important values and they will be much more able to maneuver through life’s obstacles.
As usual an absolutely wonderful video of practical tips and information. I jumped with glee (honest) when you said if the sour dough is soupy it was fermented too long. Now I know!!! So happy!!! Thank you!!!
I love that once you get comfortable with sourdough, you really can’t mess it up. I had a friend who was asking me about sourdough and about what to do for various mistakes and I had the hardest time giving her advice because it all comes with practice. And I told her that but I also wish I could have been more helpful to her 😂 That being said, sourdough is the best.
I always love when you talk about your sponsorship with Thrive Market. Something great about them that I want to add is that there are so many people who qualify for a free membership; students, teachers, low-income families, veterans, first responders, and I know there’s more.
Thank you for sharing this video with us Lisa! Wow! Victor is getting big! You cooked so many beautiful and delicious looking meals! I remember we had that icy weather, couldn't go anywhere! We finally got out a couple days later and got us and our elderly neighbors some groceries! Have a great day!
Your loaf of bread was gorgeous! Could I have a slice?😉. And I must say that your little baby crawling on the kitchen floor is so ADORABLE 🥰. Thanks for showing even us older ladies new things. I love you channel!
I made chicken enchiladas with homemade tortillas and homemade enchilada sauce for the first time a couple months ago and it really took it up a level. They were the most delicious enchiladas I've ever had! Then I was able to freeze some and we got to enjoy it again after the baby arrived! Thank you for always inspiring me to continue taking the extra time and effort to cook from scratch.
I thoroughly enjoy every video! I do wish I lived down the road from you. Fresh bread. Good family values. A delicious looking cheesecake too- bravo! God bless!
Oh my gosh! Baby girl has grown up so much! I feel like she went from little girl to teenager really really quick. Reminds me to enjoy my little kids as much as possible because they grow up soooo fast. ❤
I giggled at the IG account mentioned, I too have seen that humorous video. I thought sourdough baking would be a hassle myself. But I’ve been doing it for 3 months now and I am happy to report it has become a much loved and needed part of my cooking. Thank you for making it attainable for everyone ❤
Lisa, you are doing an extrodinary job of taking care of your family. I was referred to your channel. I am impressed! I have used several tips from you and two other you tubers in designing my home and landscape and also canning, preserving, making "homemade" food from scratch. As you know there are trolls out there who do not like what you and many other "women, wives, mothers, sisters, aunts and grandmothers" are doing. Stay safe and warm because that weather is nothing to take for granted. My friend gave me your sourdough recipe. Now I make my own and yeast bread (I alternate). I love love love your DIY household items. I have done the glass cleaner (my favorite), hand/body soap and lotion. ❤ Your dog is so cute. 🦴🍖🍗
Gosh Lisa....I need a nap after watching you work so hard in the kitchen :) :) :) I wish I liked to cook, but it's just not for me. I do enjoy watching you however!! Your family is so blessed by you!!!
I am soooo excited that you are offering a course! I keep procrastinating. For some reason I am so intimidated by sourdough. Perhaps b/c it seems like such a time commitment and intricate knowledge needed to succeed . I recently purchased the starter from Cultures for Health...but once it arrived, I started to question my choice again. lol. I told myself...I just need to research it more first. Now I can sign up and actually dive in with less trepidation.
So right when you mention that cooking is about finding your own rhythm; it is so different for everyone, but is cool to be able to learn about new recipes and techniques!
Love the shot of the dog...I don't think I've ever seen him inside the house. Maybe it was too cold for him outside? Love this video, and thinking what I might try to make this week.
Making a guess that the sourdough reel you were referring to was from @reallyverycrunchy? If so, it was hilarious! But yes, sourdough does not have to be as complicated as some folks think. I’m still baking our family’s weekly sourdough with a five year old and two week old. It brings me so much joy ❤️
I applaud you for your wonderful dedication to both your family and being a full time mum, you have an enormous job and you are so quietly confident in what you do, I will keep watching, thank you !!
I was looking for scrapbooking videos lol ran across your channel super cozy home you have this is how I raised my children made everything from scratch
This is my first time seeing your channel. Thank you for sharing your cooking ways. I am very impressed with your channel so far, love your kitchen set up as you are well organized. It is wonderful that you have such a large family.
Lisa, you are great whith baking bread, buns...everything. I think that you should try strudel recepie. It is something like philo dough, but not that complicated. Here in my corner of Europe, we make it offten. Filling of fruits ( apples, cherrys..) beutiful for summer, autumn), fresh cottage cheese filling, potaoes cubed and diced onions for salty filling...I think that it would be so intetesting for you to do. Have a nice week, all the best😊
Omg I think I know exactly which reel you're talking about 😂 I'm always trying to explain to people I talk to that they can do sourdough on their own schedule and that most of the time is rising/ fermenting time anyway. But somehow it's really intimidating!
I am trying my hand at sourdough bread baking. And oh, by the way, parchment paper contains silicone and if it’s white it contains bleach also. Just use oil or ghee or butter.
Good Lord, all that cooking today made me crazy (hungry), it all looked so scrumptious. Lots of work but mega results. All the best. The baby is growing so fast.
I cannot get over how big your baby is each time I see him! I always look forward to your Vlogs and your sisters 😆 I not even eating grains or sugars right now so my sourdough has significantly slowed down but I just love watching you cook! We have the same style of cooking and mannerisms ❤
Love your channel! Your beautiful home brought me here about 4 years ago. It houses a beautiful family too! God bless you all always! 💛 from New Zealand 💛
You inspired me to make a sourdough starter. It’s approximately 4 months old. It’s perfect, still bubbly 4 days after I feed it, right from the refrigerator. I made the tortillas in Tuesday, I followed your recipe from your Blog, and your advise on your video to roll out first, then let them rest and roll again to get them thin. It worked perfectly. One last thing to the nay sayers on here. I just feed my starter unbleached flour and filtered refrigerator water and I have had no issues.
Hi my name is Trudy and I live in England you are doing a great job absolutely love your videos I myself as a Mum of 2 they are grown up now , but my son still lives at home I cook from scratch I do this every day . Even though my family is much smaller than yours I am always cooking for my ever growing family as our daughter is expecting her first baby so I have always got guests and over the years have always encouraged both my son and daughter to bring friends round to eat with us . I also have looked after both my parents and always cooked for them and all family members sadly they are no longer with us anyway enough about me . You are a great inspiration a credit to your family its a great thing to get kids involved and learn them to cook its a great skill all my love❤❤ to you and your wonderful family love lice your videos ❤❤❤.
I bet it is a wonderful experience to walk into your house and smell all the delicious food you make! That figgy piggy pizza looks amazing…and Victor is growing so fast! I hope your stove lasts forever…you sure put it through its paces! 🤗
Thank you so much Lisa for helping me see how easy sourdough is…and really, you have such a great philosophy on meal prepping…use what you’ve got. I’m ashamed to say that I used to waste so much food but you have encouraged me to find creative ways to use what I have and it feels so great.
You'll littlest one doesn't look so little anymore!? 😮where did the time go!? Loved seeing him on the floor next to you in the kitchen. And that jalapeño fig goat cheese pizza looks so amazing wow!
One of my favorite videos from you and i’ve been following you for years. Really connected with this one. Kept it on a playlist to rewatch when needed. Thank you for the thoughts. Sending love ❤️
During the Texas Ice Storm a few years ago I was amazed at how many meals I was able to make without going to the store. I think I capped out at meals for 14 days before we needed fresh items for a family of 5. Thankfully we did not lose power but everyone one around us did and all of the stores so it took about a week after the week long storm for the stores to bounce back. My family no longer thinks that I am the crazy lady with the pantry. :-)
Well I finally got a mixer so now I can make bread etc. I’m excited to give it a try. My large mixer broke so I’ve been waiting to replace it. You definitely make everything look so easy to fix. I looked up the BBQ sauce and we’re definitely going to give that a try.
I am so excited. IMy daughter gave me a great sourdough starter and all the supplies for Christmas. I followed your recipe to the T. It was so easy. I make 2 loves every weekend. Great job! Thanks for sharing!!
Which bread do you make exactly? The sandwich or the rustic one?
Isn't it funny how before kids, experimenting with new recipes for every meal seemed like such fun? I've got a gaggle of kids..and yes😂
And then they all grow up and leave and you have to try to pare down your recipes for just two people.😢

yes, I think about it sometimes, it makes me so sad, so try to enjoy the present moment as much as I can@@carmarasmussen8118

The oven sleeve as an oven hat pad. 👏
As a mom in constant noise, I really appreciate your quiet voiceovers. Makes your videos very enjoyable.
Glad you like them!
That is awesome!
I thoroughly enjoy every video! I do wish I lived down the road from you. Fresh bread. Good family values. A delicious looking cheesecake too- bravo!
God bless!
Really very crunchy 😂😂😂😂 I love her and my husband sent that reel to me 😂
Oh my gosh! Baby girl has grown up so much! I feel like she went from little girl to teenager really really quick. Reminds me to enjoy my little kids as much as possible because they grow up soooo fast. ❤
For whole grain flour bread recipes that are actually soft look up Peter Reinhart’s book on whole grain breads😋😋😋
Your dog is so cute. 🦴🍖🍗
You have gotten it down to a science!! Coming up with great meals while in need to buy groceries…and feeding your family of 10! Very impressive!!
The stew looks so yummy!
I honestly thought there wasn’t much for me to learn, but your mill in the cabinet is BRILLIANT!
Gosh Lisa....I need a nap after watching you work so hard in the kitchen :) :) :) I wish I liked to cook, but it's just not for me. I do enjoy watching you however!! Your family is so blessed by you!!!
I love getting out of the winter months but man there’s nothing like cooking in the winter. I hate to do it in the hot summer
I love your hair in a braid like that 🌻 it suits you so well
Victor is so precious I’m shocked your not holding him but he looked very independent soooooooo precious
You make everything look so effortless! ❤
Thank you so much 😀
So right when you mention that cooking is about finding your own rhythm; it is so different for everyone, but is cool to be able to learn about new recipes and techniques!
Love the shot of the dog...I don't think I've ever seen him inside the house. Maybe it was too cold for him outside? Love this video, and thinking what I might try to make this week.
He comes and goes as he pleases lol
Divno, vrijedna zeno❤
Love a good fridge, freezer and pantry clean out
So fun to stock up when you have the room to fill
This is my first time seeing your channel. Thank you for sharing your cooking ways. I am very impressed with your channel so far, love your kitchen set up as you are well organized. It is wonderful that you have such a large family.
Not sure how TH-cam introduced us or why BUT I AM PLEASED! I want to be like you! Looking forward to binge watching your videos while I sew! 💚
Glad to have you!

I agree wit you sourdough isn’t time consuming. I love having something sour dough going every week day. It’s so delicious and nourishing.
Your videos are always so soothing and inspiring to watch. I’m a mama to eight as well! ❤
We are so lucky to have all this great content from you and all the other channels. Thank you thank you Leisa and For Jars.
this is your best video that I have seen on your channel; you are a very efficient cook
Love your channel! Your beautiful home brought me here about 4 years ago. It houses a beautiful family too! God bless you all always! 💛 from New Zealand 💛
Thank you so much!
Crunchy mom is hilarious! I saw that video too 😂😂😂😂😂😂
You inspired me to make a sourdough starter.
That is awesome!
Ohhh you're talking about Really Very Crunchy! Haha. I saw that reel on Facebook. I don't have Instagram thankfully lol
Everything about your home is so inviting to me. This is my ideal home…simple, charming, classic, and welcoming. Your taste is impeccable!
Thank you!

Thank you so much and thank you for sharing!
So glad to hear that...all of us have to start somewhere and sometimes you just need encouragement or to see how someone else does it.
You'll littlest one doesn't look so little anymore!? 😮where did the time go!? Loved seeing him on the floor next to you in the kitchen. And that jalapeño fig goat cheese pizza looks so amazing wow!
I love the sleeve hot pad. My mom and mother-in-law keep giving me hot pads, a sleeve or an apron works just fine
I started sower dough 4 years ago thanks to you and now make it once a week.
That's great!
Carrots and chicken are such a classic combo. Your carrots look amazing!! I also like dijon mustard and maple on roasted veg
Thank you! Carrots are from Azure Standard
Your no knead sourdough bread recipe is the BEST SD recipe I have ever used! Delicious! ❤
So glad to hear you are enjoying it!!!
One of my favorite videos from you and i’ve been following you for years. Really connected with this one. Kept it on a playlist to rewatch when needed. Thank you for the thoughts. Sending love ❤️
I appreciate that!
Of course none of us want anyone to be in that situation but, it sure feels good to be prepared when something unexpected comes along!
Well I finally got a mixer so now I can make bread etc. I’m excited to give it a try. My large mixer broke so I’ve been waiting to replace it. You definitely make everything look so easy to fix. I looked up the BBQ sauce and we’re definitely going to give that a try.
