My 2008 RX400h has 246k miles and is running strong on the original hybrid battery. Outside of routine maintenance, I’ve replaced a radiator fan, front wheel bearings, rear hatch struts, and the hatch handle, which had disintegrated into a mess that left gummy black rubber on fingers when used. It’s had the timing belt and water pump replaced twice. That’s the most expensive routine maintenance item to watch out for when buying a high mileage older Lexus.

I dislike some of the odd and older style features compared to the same model years Prius, though there are also perks as you'd expect. The basic key instead of proximity key. The standard shifter instead of the smaller selector (smaller one in Prius makes more sense to me as Hybrid). Having to look through the steering wheel at speed instead of up near windshield. 25:06 ... my 2010 model hac a much better visibility out of the cabin than in these new 2015+ RX´s. I was disappointed in the newer RX looking back and sideways seeing near nothing. What i dont like in my model is the 10cm wide section on the left drivers part of the windshield which the wiper do not wipe ! Dont know what LEXUS thought about this shit, but its sometimes dangerous to drive when this part is left dirty ! Idk if this was fixed in the newer RX ?
Is it on the original battery? If so I'd pass. From what i've heard is that these batteries start degrading around 10 years. You'd be better off with a 330 or 350.
Are the batteries that hard to replace? I bought a Prius that needed a battery, bought it (battery) and replaced it myself using a TH-cam tutorial. I'd guess the Lexus is the same. Battery should last 10 years from new average.
I'm debating on getting the rx hybrid 2010-2015 model. Is the gas mialage really that much better in every day driving with the rx hybrid than with the non hybrid version?
Is it risky with generator and battery packing up when this car is 100k miles or 10 year old? Or is the longevity is much longer? This might be stupid question but any input are appreciated.
I've heard rumors that the batters start to deteriorate around 10 years, but I have no evidence for that. I would have better piece of mind with a non-hybrid of this era.

But I guess that's because it also comes as a standard car with standard auto trans.
lol, no coffee man doing a video cool! thanks for the vid, by the way, it's very instructive! :D great work!!! Looking to get one of these soon :D also I forgot to mention to be careful when driving & filming with your hand it's not an ideal thing to do, & I wanna see more of this brother & his video :p all the best.

Thanks for the support! My reviews have been slowing down but I have big plans for the future!
@@KirkKreifels Waiting for that amazingness:) god bless you sir :p
the suburban/california shade lol
25:06 ... my 2010 model hac a much better visibility out of the cabin than in these new 2015+ RX´s.
Hi, any water leaks in the booth? Thanks
You have to hold the power door button for 3 seconds in order to auto open back
14.4 mpg? You must be hot roding it everywhere.
How much would it cost to replace the battery
around $2500 at a Lexus/Toyota dealership. but have it diagnosed, 9/10 its not the battery.
I’m considering an 06 with 200K+ on the clock. Should I be concerned about the battery life and go with a 330 or 350?
Is it on the original battery? If so I'd pass. From what i've heard is that these batteries start degrading around 10 years. You'd be better off with a 330 or 350.
LEXUriouS Kirk 👍Thanks Kirk.
Lexurious Kirk this is really nice car the rx400h and we get in UK some 50 to 70k miles and 10 year old so was getting tempted to find a single owner, lexus serviced one!
@@KirkKreifels I have had a few of these 14 years old now just sold one with 236k battery still great. I love these vehicles...
Came out in 2005 as a 2006 model.
question - did your tie come pre-tied straight from the box, or did your dad help?
Clip on mate.
@@KirkKreifels Neat. Well Im sold, I'll come pick up the car today, please have it washed.
Temp low --> Temp 65 wow that's hot
I own a 2006 midel and I can confirm that it does not have the hybrid decal
We own one of this
How many miles?
does it really save gas?
I have one I love it. If you do a lot of city driving you should save 7 plus miles per gallon over the gas version. Hwy 2 to 4...@@angelbluerider9588
@@scottturner7910 i bought the 2012 rx350 v6 with 69k miles on it. Not the hybrid. Thanks yea these runs so good.
The first 400h was in 06?
Nice
2:03 is not a design flaw it is for protection
This car has a lot of problem. if you have this problem. please contact me. My car totally stoped in the middle of highway and then it never turned on and asked more than car value like $20,000. it is not only me. find some information how the service center is irresponsible.. please contact me if you have same problem like me.
Is it that bad? I was thinking of getting a 06 with only 38k miles at $9000
@@ayoo1023 it was really horrible... disaster... the lexus service center really don't know about about the hybrid system well. i read a lot of same situation same with me. I am trying to sue them. so I am looking for the people who can do with me. The service center is very irresponsible. they offered $400 to buy the car.
Is the 2020 model softer ?
Softer? As in a smoother ride? Yes.
I have a 2007
The average is 14? Jesus Tommy Diesle X5 averages almost 23 in the city
Great video. However I feel like you attack too much a 10+ old vehicle whereas you should be praising how long it has held on to its shell. Words like tacky would he the least people would use in 2030 when they make reviews on the 2015 lexus RX.
He’s all “the wood” and “the new ones have a shark fin antenna” crap that actual car guys could care less about, maybe a wife that actually wants an audi would be complaining
Youre so handsome😍
Why are so many of these in the UK only grey or silver? Such boring colours!
Nobody bought red ones, it seems.
All Lexus colors are boring.
The red color did not come out on this model until the 2008 model year
He loves wood!
My guy was more piss a out that car from California 🤣🤣
My transmission is really jumpy
