I'm on my 3rrd RX. Had a 2003 RX300...loved that vehicle & traded it in on a 2010 RX350 for the upgraded engine/newer technology. Traded that in for a 2017 for yet even more improved technology & will be keeping this (hopefully) for the long haul. Reliability is awesome. Comfort/ride quality is amazing.

Just bought a 2005 RX330 with 323,000 miles on it for $1,000. Owner had all the maintenance records. It has some cosmetic issues, scratches and dings, but holy crap, the engine sounds great and the transmission shifts smooth as butter. It drips a few drips of oil over night. Guessing is is the rear seal, but haven’t investigated and frankly don’t care. The dash has the cracking, so I’m using a dash cover. I got this to be a work vehicle, but I’m impressed.

Great overview. Videos like these are helpful as the number of second hand car buyers outnumber those purchasing new vehicles. At 6 minutes and 53 seconds into the video, you see a 2021 Honda Pilot drive by in the background. I would still take the styling of this 2007 Lexus over the 2021 Pilot. Just amazing how Lexus models are so timeless in their styling that it's truly difficult to know their actual age. That's a good thing,

👉👉If you disconnect the battery and cant open or close your passenger windows from the driver seat controls, the solution is very simple. Just open and close each passenger window directly from its switch on each door only once and you are done. Then you can open and close them from the driver switches.

As preventive maintenance make sure to do the water pump before a hundred thousand miles, also make sure to get the VVT oil cooler line replaced with a metal part, Lexus had a TSB because the oil cooler line would rupture and all of your oil would leak out rapidly, however even their replacement part failed on me. Great vid .... I've a 2006 RX350 (so it's over 15+ years old now, I've owned it 5 years ) ... only 135000km (84,000 miles) on the clock, JAPAN built . NOTE : I also own an NX200T and just sold a CT200H after 4 years of ownership... daily driver
The issues are HID headlights failed water due to ingress/sun damage ... which have been replaced with NEW Original USA halogen version a bit of work to convert but are great, Make sure they are additionally sealed before fitting (Quality clear sealant) . The Headlight Units are prone to water ingress given time , reference any version of this vehicle ....
Here is WA australia it's very hot 40 degrees plus, we have a fury dash mats (which dissipate the suns rays) .. which most cars have over here... Therefore no issues with the dash cracking / facia..
Clean your leather Interior, look after it , nurture it and feed it ... with appropriate products ... and it will look after you ... The quality of the leather in the RX350 is prob the best you will encounter ...
I've replaced the Stereo unit with a pioneer system , double din ... keeping the existing sub W, amp and steering wheel controls which cost quite a bit ... but worth it ... I had toyed with the idea of replacing the Stereo with one of those Tesla style vertical units which replace the stereo and the main control unit inc the sat nav , just look at the install vid's, too much cause for failure on install ..... ..
Advice : Get the transmission fluid and filter changed every 120,000km / 75,000 miles .. don't Question it ... just do it (do your research, all savy owners recommend this action ) ... AND always lube service it (filter and oil) every 12,000 km's/ 7,500 miles with quality oil and filter products appropriate for YOUR area of the world ... It ain't cheap with 6.1 litre oil capacity......
Advice : Change the coolant every 2 years ... drain and replace with Quality product...
Advice : Update your sat nav Map DVD ..... download the ISO image and burn it ....... if you know what I mean ...
Summary : I expect my RX350 to last at least 300,000 km / 185,000 Miles ... which is another 15 years + based on my usage, hope this helps ... 😁

yeah change it use Toyota WS fluid if you have the tools do the trans filter as well, don’t bother with a flush I did this myself cost $120 for filter and fluid.
If your over 200k kms do the fuel filter too they will become unbelievably filthy, I got it done $200 including OEM part fitted by a tech. Vac hoses will need to be redone as these crack over time get a meter cost $5. Clean you PCV valve if it hasn’t been done these gunk up on 2gr 19mm spanner and douse into appropriate cleaner 5 min job.
Timing belt will be fine it may squeak past 220k got mine replaced for $150 fitted.
Nearly all jobs on this car are dead easy and a pleasure to do the only thing you have to prepare for is the spark plugs if not done already which is once in the cars lifetime as they use iridiums. It will cost $500 minimum from a tech or take a day to do it yourself there’s a process on YT to follow $150 for 6 laser iridium and gaskets.
Take care of the car it will take care of you it’s never let me down I have driven around my country 4 times even slept in it, it’s AWD capabilities are underrated have done a few hills/scrambles/adventures although it’s definitely not a 4x4
In saying this mine still drives like new, punches when you put your foot down.
Before buying use a OBD2 Bluetooth scanner read the codes and trims if they are out of spec that’s a good starting point to negotiate.

We purchased a new RX300 after it received it’s first ever refresh. I can’t remember what year that was, but I’m sure that you didn’t have a driver’s license yet! It finally had xenon headlamps, an excellent touch navigation display with the entire lower 48 states, no purchasing expensive CD’s from the dealer for different regions of the country, restyled taillights and a larger gas tank.
I found the leather to be very slippery and with the seats being very flat, I found that with the lack of lateral support, that I received a sore lower back. I didn’t have an independent mechanic and was appalled at the prices that Lexus charged for service on a car that required no tuneups. The HOA rules where we live prohibit working on cars in your driveway and our one car garage is too small to hideout in. Our RX300 was a clear coated black and if you immediately washed off bird poop, the paint would be stained until a detail shop could clay bar it. Way back then retail auto parts stores didn’t sell clay bars and the internet marketplace did not exist yet! Who knew that plumbers putty, that I had plenty of, would do the same thing?
I am sure that no one is going to read any of this, but I feel better talking about it.

After disconnecting the battery, the driver's control panel does lose access to the passenger and rear windows. But all you have to do is go to each door and open and close the windows once or twice from the window controls on each door, and that restores the control to the driver's panel.

My major concern is my safety; let's face it, my reflexes, strength, and coordination are not as sharp as they were when I was in my twenties, so I feel I really need the back up camera. However, I also would like blind-spot monitoring. My neck is a bit stiff these days and the blind-spot monitoring would help greatly! Where's a senior woman with no car buying experience find this car from a private seller?

You should have someone help you buy a new or newer vehicle. Esp now, since vehicles are going for such a premium. I've seen used cars sell for what they were bought for years ago. Honda in particular seems to be gauging people with used car prices, at least here in Pa.
You won't go wrong if you buy a Lexus, and it will keep you safe because of it's reliability. I hope you find the car of your dreams and have fun traveling.

I have a 2009 RX350 that I will roll 250,000 miles on within the next couple of weeks. Engine and tranny are still strong, but it does need new rear struts...easy fix. I used the same dash cover on mine. Not the best vehicle that I've ever owned, but it's definitely a good one. Watch out for a knock in the rear that turned out to be the spare tire winch. That's a $150 part...ugh.

The Lexus RX330 was produced from 2004 to 2006, All Lexus vehicles, all models, From 2005 and newer switched to a Timing Chain, so the 2004 RX330 was the only RX had a Timing belt from the second generation. The 2005-2006 RX330 would still be a great choice because the Timing chain was new. The Lexus RX350 has been in production since 2007, when it replaced the RX330 as the main model in the second generation.
