Love this car. Interesting fact, Lexus originally didn’t market the hybrid system as being for fuel efficiency they marketed it as a more efficient version of a supercharger.

I own one of these and owners need to know its one of the top leaking cars for water ingress. Check your sun roof drains, your door cards, roof rails, welded rear seams at the top of the boot on both sides and also grommets within the rear bumper area. It's well documented on many forums and can damage the battery so extensively that repair is uneconomical. If I had known this I would not have bought one but it is a great car aside from this major point.

Pay attention to the front and rear subframes for corrosion. I'm in the process of refurbishing my 2008 RX400H I've had from new. Also, replace the hybrid transmission fluid if it hasn't been done in the past, it's an easy DIY job. Buy 4 x 1 litre bottles of Toyota ATF WS (about £12 per litre) and 2 x transmission plug washers. The RX400H takes 3.7 litres of ATF WS. It's not normally necessary to replace the transmission fluid in the rear motor/differential. HTH.

AFS is the adaptive front lighting system that turns the headlight as the vehicle turns. The is an on/off button for AFS in the 400h.

Don’t buy a used one. As stated in other comments, MAJOR leaking issues, ABS Actuators are known to fail, and can cost more than the vehicle is worth to repair it, power inverter also known to fail, can cost up to $8000 for repair, main seal is known to fail after 100k, you have to remove front bumper to properly replace HID head lamp bulbs, and you pretty much need to store it in a climate controlled garage if you want it to last more than 200k.

You can't by this as new any more 🤣🤣🤣
Besides, this is one of the most reliable cars ever made . Fact !
I've owned one for 7 years
When I've sold mine to a friend 2 years ago , it had 200k miles on the clock and other than leaking sunroof (easy fix £0) and leaking radiator (£200) it has never let me down . It is still running strong (70% life battery remaining) without any issues
      £200 in 9 years for repairs !

@@sergeigorbenko I live in the rust belt my Lexus driving friend, also known as New England. It does a job on Toyota/Lexus components. And as far as purchasing a new one, you are correct, although Lexus just dropped the all new RX500H, dropping from the 6 cylinder, to a turbo charged 4 cylinder. I guess a better way for me to word my comment is this: If you live in a rust belt area, keep your Lexus garaged when not in use. Side note: I am reading your comment while on the way to replace upper and lower ball joints, brakes (including undercarriage lines) as well as a new exhauset (front to back). I expect a $6500 bill when I pick her up on Monday. And yes, I still drive my 2008 RX400H, she has around 265k, and hopefully will be sold through a private sale so I can finally afford the down payment on a certified pre-owned LC500 (preferably a drop top) 😎
