  • Had the old muscle out to do a few acres of plowing. Don't worry about erosion that doesn't apply to us. Thanks for watching!

Nothing like the sound of the 5020! My Grandfather had 3 of them on the farm in the early 70's. They were all dueled out. I remember pulling 3 shanked JD subsoilers with one when I was around 12 years old. He was one of the first farmers in the area to a tractor that big, and I remember people parking on the road and the turnrow "headland" just to watch them. Tractors, trucks, cars, music, everything was a lot cooler in the 70's! Thanks for the great videos! Thomas, Mississippi!!!

When I was a kid we had to take our 4010 to the dealer for service. They had a new 5020 on the lot. I climbed up there and that hood looked like it was 20 feet long. I'll never forget how massive that tractor seemed. Never got to drive one.

The 4620 has 404 c.i. block like a 4020 . The 4620 has a turbo and intercooler bigger fuel pump , transmission and final drive , front end . It is a beast compared to a 4020 . The 5020 has a improved 531 c.i. , the block has more metal between the cylinder sleeve . Massive two wheel drive tractor , PERIOD . " You can always tell a good farmer by the color of his GREEN TRACTORS WITH YELLOW WHEELS " !!!!!

4620 a great strong tractor but can't help but notice the 5020 stepping along with minimal effort due to it's big time weight and sturdy build both great tractors but the old adage that it takes weight to pull weight is obvious with the big 5020,great video guys

That 5020 runs along nicely with that 7 16’s plow. We had 2 4 14’s . A pull type that I pulled with my 720 diesel and a 4 14’s I H semi mounted that my Dad pulled with his 2520 John Deere diesel. I still have the 2520. I wish I would have hung on to my 720 diesel. It is still in the area but it needs way too much work. Even if they gave it to me, it needs tires all the way around. The 3 point hitch has been canabalized. It is an electric start version and needs new batteries and a new battery box. The seat needs the cushions redone and all new bushings. Needs new grill screens. Paint isn’t bad on it but does need some touching up. Needs a new muffler and possibly manifold work. I sold it on the farm sale in 86 and all it needed then was new rears. They were getting down there.
Loved watching the old 5020 strutting her stuff. Always drawn to those beasts. Never had one one around here. The closest one I was aware of was 30 miles away and the 1 st tractor I ever saw run triples.
    Thanks for sharing

Why is the 4620 running in the furrow with a dual? The plow is capable of using the onland hitch if it was setup correctly. Too much slippage because the right side is on loose soil. I had 6 bottom and a 10 bottom plow when I farmed in the 70s.
