How to make Milk Tapioca Mochi / Easy Recipe タピオカミルクもち 簡単レシピ

  • Easy Milk Mochi recipe using Tapioca flour.

    🌸 RECIPE * 3-4 serves
    Ingredients:
    80g tapioca flour (or 1/2cup)
    200mL water
    200mL milk
    3 tablespoon dark brown sugar + water to make syrup
    Recipe:
    1. Combine tapioca flour, milk and water in a pot.
    2. Place pot on medium heat and stir until mixture becomes transparent.
    3. Once it becomes transparent take it off from heat and place it onto a plate.
    4. Let it cool and refrigerate for 2-3hours.
    5. Meanwhile, make dark brown sugar syrup by combining dark brown sugar and water in a pot.
    6. Put in on medium heat until mixture thickens.
    7. Once it thickens take it off from heat and let it cool.
    8. Cut milk mochi into small pieces.
    9. Garnish with dark brown sugar and ready to enjoy.
    🌸 レシピ * 3-4人分
    材料:
    タピオカ粉 80g
    水 200mL
    牛乳 200mL
    黒蜜を作るために - 黒砂糖 大さじ3 + 水
    レシピ:
    1. タピオカ粉、牛乳、水を鍋に入れ、中火にかける。
    2. 透き通るまで、混ぜ続ける
    3. 透き通ってきたら、火から下ろしバットに移す。
    4. 粗熱をとり、冷蔵庫で2-3時間 冷やす。
    5. 黒蜜を作る - 鍋に黒砂糖と水を入れ、中火にかける。
    6. とろみが出るまで煮詰める。
    7. とろみが出たら火から下ろし、冷ましておく。
    8. ミルクもちを小さく切り分け、もりつける。
    9. 黒蜜をかけたら、出来上がり。

      I have 3 bag of tapioca flour because I thought making boba would be easy and I would make it often en now I’m looking what to do with the starch🤡

    This is so delicious! Thanks for the recipe! It’s very sticky when I cut it and doesn’t come out like the clean cutes you have! Did I do something wrong? It still tastes great :)

      glad you enjoyed :) it is quite sticky but if you wet the knife / fork before cutting it I think it helps.

    I’m making this but adding some brown sugar in the mochi itself! Update when I’m done!
    Edit: sos I forgot to edit this before. Not very good and just looked like frozen apple sauce

      Yes, cane sugar will be okay too just slightly a different flavour

      Hi I cooked it for 3-4minutes on medium heat. It depends how strong the heat is but once it becomes transparent cook for another extra 1min. 1cup is 200mL in US (250mL in Australia)

    Can I use different milk alternatives like coconut milk, cashew milk etc.

      I have tried soy milk and it works but not sure about coconut milk or cashew.. it works with water so I think it will be able to form the shape but may change the flavour. Sorry that I can't be much of a help

    Instead of adding brown sugar, adding some oil and soy sauce taste better. Also, if you mix some rice flour with tapioca starch, that taste just like cheung fun. Try to add some meat too. Oh well, I guess making cheaung fun directly instead...:)

    Can I use glutinous rice flour instead of the tapioca flour ?

      If you use glutinous rice flour it will turn out to be more mochi like and not the same texture as using tapioca flour... Though mochi (sticky rice) is still nice :)

      I haven't tried it so not sure but wouldn't recommend using cornstarch for this recipe just because I think it adds too much liquid making it sloppy. But cornstarch does create a similar texture so I think it will work just need to modify liquid though.

    can i make it fruity by blending frozen fruit and straining it and using that instead of milk?

      I have never used actual fruit so not sure but it has worked with tea and fruit juice before so I think it will work as long as it is liquid form. Although depending on the colour of the liquid can look quite gross. i.e. tea looked like a slim!

      Hi, no I don't have one at the moment... It all uses glutinous flour. I'm testing couple things with tapioca now so hopefully I'll get a mochi recipe soon!!

      I've never tried it with tapioca granules so not sure but I think it'll be more pudding like and have slightly different consistency. So, sorry I'm not sure...

      I just tried with it just now. its not like transparent as shown in the video. its more like in liquid form only kinda like a paste. so I decided to keep that in bowls. I will update you after it cools down.

      No unfortunately I don't think cassava flour works to give it a chewy texture....

      No it's not really sweet without sugar so if you're going without syrup I would recommend adding couple teaspoons into the mixture :)

      Hi, I've tried using the microwave. After 6 minutes it was still very sloppy and didn't form any shape. It was edible but very slimy. So I wouldn't recommend using microwave....

      I've tried using cornstarch and didn't go very well. It went too hard... So you need to use tapioca flour unfortunately.

      I think flour will give a tougher dough like consistency and won't be the same. I wouldn't encourage using flour..

      It might depend on the rice flour so might be worth adding extra water or cooking it on lower heat so stop at the right thickness

    Konnichiwa, tapioca de shiro mochi tsukuro no dekiru tomou? Ima ha Brasil ni sundeuimasu kara, tapioca no kona ippai arimasu. Brasil de Motigome no kona ha mau no muzukashi desu.

      Hello :) I'm not sure if you can make shiro mochi out of tapioca powder. I've never tried.. but wonder if you can by combining it with other type of flour or vegetable like sweet potato or potato. But no I don't know how at this point.. sorry..

    Stupid person (me) + not having tapioca starch = me probably going to make this this with all purpose flour
