My challenge is trying to get a good combination for my 14" Mercedes Bundt wheels and I have a 1981 Mercedes W123 240d. Currently I run a 205 70r14 but would like to go to a 215 70r14 or a 205 75r14. The taller the tire the better for the top end. I have a 4 speed manual transmission with a 3:69 ratio in my differential. In Europe they commonly had a 5 speed manual.

My question I can’t find answer to is about the tire wall height which was also discussed here but nobody mentions, whether you measure the height of the tire from the rim’s lip where the tire sits on or you measure when the tire is off the rim and measure from the inner circumference to the top of the thread?

225/50 will be OK. I'm not so sure about 225/45 7" is not all that wide.

Sometimes those wheel aspect ratios numbers don't add up. Sometimes the tires aspect ratio is smaller than what it says.

@@luklkc Its from the inner circumference of the unfitted tyre to the top of the tread. I have some 235/45x17's here and if i calculate 45% of 235 I get 105.75mm, but if I measure the actual tyre from the lip of the rim to the top of the tread I only get about 80mm. So 25.75mm of the tyre sidewall is hidden behind the rim when fitted.

Also I'm simply looking for a bit more road stability and slighter better road grip while still keeping the comfort. you dont want vertical sidwalls if youre track racing as the tyre rolls and gives bad feedback to the driver, smaller width gives you much better turning reaction times and responsive feel.

I did exactly this. I have sports suspension though. That extra 5 in the profile really adds to comfort. If the car doesn't handle well already it could become very bad at remaining composure.

I think you meant to say the closest you could get was to drop down to 35% aspect ration with a 245/35 18, not a 245/30 18, right? Like the tire in the picture was correct, you just misspoke I think.

i have the same wheel setup on my is350 tires are 255/35 in the front and 275/35 in the rear of recommend a 265 in the rear so u don’t rub

Hello, Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I bought a 2010 Sienna with 19" wheels. Costco Tire Center will not give me warranty on the tires they put on those wheels because the 19" wheels are not the right size for the Sienna. I am shopping for the right size wheels and tires. Toyota dealer wants $2400 just for wheels. Discount Tires offers new 16" wheels and tires for $1100. What is the right size wheels for 2010 Sienna. I don't care about sporty or fancy look. I just care about safety, quality and availability of tire options. Thank you.
