This is a "all hands on deck" situation. EVERYONE needs to help. Ruby can't come back alone, but one person trying to restore her will to live won't be enough.

No, she just needs the one she trusted most as a friend to bring her back and that would be Jaune. She counted on Jaune not only as another leader unfit (which in her eyes would put them in the same boat), but also someone who (compared to everyone else) wasn’t ready for the challenges Oz out them in. If there was anyone she could relate to, it would be him. The fact he said “no, this is your fault.” Is the part that hurt the most. If it was yang, she would take it in a sister way. If it was the other too she would take it in only a “one of your non close friends” would say. Jaune is the one that has to pull her out both physically and metaphorically.
I had an inkling of a feeling that the moment where WBY were talking about why Ruby ran off and the camera focused on Jaune and how he reacted to what they're talking about is a sort of foreshadowing that he will be the one to help her. But I dunno whether that was fueled by my Lancaster copium or not
Honestly I think Ruby might end up seeing her mom because of this near death experience. It would be nice.

Can't express how much I want Jaune to meet Ruby in the tree and give her the same "nope" pep talk that she gave him way back in volume 1.
Yeah, Lancaster copium and hopes aside, I feel that Jaune is probably the most likely candidate to try and rescue her if Little doesn't play a part in her recovery. He knows more about Ever After, the Curious Cat, and the Tree more than anyone else at the moment, and so assuming Little isn't the primary person to help her, I can see Jaune being the one to enter the tree to rescue Ruby while Weiss, Yang, and Blake confront Cat-Neo.
And I really hope Jaune doesn't die, whether it be against Cat-Neo or sacrificing himself so that RWBY can return. He's gone through so much for him to die like this, and it would nullify all the growth he's gone through this entire series. Best he and Ruby go through a more beneficial ascension rather than death. I know some people say that Jaune should stay old and withered when they do return, as a sign that his trauma is still present, but scars can fade, and if he does return to his pre-Ever After body (but keeps the wolf-tail, please!), that doesn't mean all his past experiences are forgotten. Of course, that might mean that Lancaster might get shot down thanks to the years of experience he has (please, please, please let Lancaster survive this Volume lol. I'd probably lose it if the crew returns to a Remnant a couple years in the future and Ruby has the same kind of reaction to Oscar that Weiss had for Jaune).
That said, I'm curious how they're gonna wrap all these plot points up AND escape back to Remnant in only 2 episodes....
I personally doubt they will return in this volume. There is just too much to be done before they can even try to return properly and they NEED to stop a bit.
I doubt they will return, but if they do… then it would be chasing after the cat through the portal right before the screen cuts to black.

How I’d write it, definitely Jaune. He decides to take the leap by making some team and following after Ruby, is forced to confront his own trauma and insecurities with Pyrrha being his final obstacle, who tries to tear him down, but Jaune realizes that Pyrrha would never say such things and finally learns the important lesson that though they are gone, those they love and fought with still remain within one’s very heart and soul, which he passes along to Ruby. He also points out that even though they lost some good in their lives, it doesn’t mean they should give up on what they have left and that even if they do give up, it doesn’t mean villains like Salem and Cinder will do the same. They will continue to do what they do, even using Neo as a prime example, which means the only thing giving up accomplishes is that you’re willing to let what you have left go all together. It is better to try and fail than never try at all and continue to suffer for it. Once he saves Ruby, Jaune, unfortunately, decides to stay as he knows he isn’t finished with his rebirth, but he promises Ruby that he will come back one day and that they will win the war together. After that, Jaune remains in the tree, leaving Team RWBY to escape and for him to return volumes later, reborn as a new, stronger knight. One of Holy Justice!
That’s how I’d do it with the pieces they just left behind. I highly doubt that’s how they’re going to do it, but I hope that rescue and rebirth is where Jaune’s path leads to. Awesome video! Hope to see more from you, bro!
Yang going to save Ruby would be thematically satisfying however I believe Jaune may be the one as for one reason: the Tea. The herbalist used same leaves to make his "test" RWBY by forcing them to confront their past selves and test their resolve. Only WBY passed the test but Ruby did not. My theory is the Tea only works on beings when they're at or near their lowest point and currently only Jaune is closest to that given all he's been through.
I agree I think wby is resolved or completely while jaune isn't so he might be the only one who can follow her.
@@animelover6067 I do think Yang will try to drink the tea anyway but either: nothing will happen or she'll spit it out as her resolve is too strong like a very bitter tea.
I think Weiss might play a bigger part than just as a teammate - she's the one who seemed most aware of Ruby's declining mental health throughout the volume, and in chapter 8 she explained to Blake and Yang why Ruby didn't talk to them. Right now Weiss seems to understand Ruby more than any other character
I agree! I definitely think Weiss should at least have a part in this, especially since Ruby was the main person who helped her through her trauma and the one who inspired her to become a better person
You’re partially right. She understands why Ruby kept to herself, but she had no awareness of Ruby’s declining mental health whatsoever…. None of her teammates did. Otherwise they would’ve addressed it a long time ago.
@@TheLsp2011I actually think Weiss tried to address it earlier in the volume, but Ruby shut it down because she wasn't ready. Weiss may definitely play a bigger role in helping Ruby, and I would go so far as to say it might be more than Yang. During Chapter 8, Yang showed frustration on not understanding why Ruby couldn't talk to the rest of the team, and Weiss explained it as though she herself knew what it was like to an extent. Yang has also gotten really - and I mean, REALLY - close to Blake, and hasn't really shown Ruby as much attention as Weiss has this time around. The fact that Weiss could explain some of Ruby's possible thinking when she ran away gave me that inkling, but I digress. CRWBY has done twists to hard situations before, and there's really no way to know how things will go until we see the last 2 chapters unfold
Ruby has PTSD. The signs are so obvious that you’d have to ignore her to not notice them. Weiss likely noticed, but didn’t know how to deal with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Feeling like YOUR the reason thousands of people died, is different from what Weiss went through. Yang, and Blake didn’t help much, especially Yang only asking “Are you okay?” IF Yang gave a shit about Ruby, Yang should of put her FULL attention on Ruby. It feels like Yang ditched Ruby in a time where she needed Yang most, just for a girl friend. Jaune didn’t help much either, but, he has PTSD to, none the less all he did was confirm what she thought of herself, that its HER fault that Salem has two relics, that its her fault those people they tried to save are now most likely dead, that this whole everafter mess is HER fault. Weiss without a doubt has been even more of a sister to Ruby then Yang in this volume, I doubt it should be Yang who helps. She and Blake make the least sense.
@HUNK Mr. Death I disagree about Yang, she was trying to check in with Ruby constantly but Ruby wasn't ready to talk. WBY were all trying to help Ruby in their own way - Weiss was trying to initiate a conversation, Yang was trying to get her to open up about her feelings, and Blake was trying to distract her from spiralling. None of it worked in Ruby's case, but it might have helped someone else with PTSD. People are allowed to have their own lives and gain happiness while supporting and taking care of a loved one while that person struggles with mental health issues.
We all need a Jaune in our life, and a Ruby. Hope can be hard to come by sometimes, but you just gotta keep moving forward like Monty (R.I.P)
I mean, they all should do their part to save Ruby…. But it should be her team, SPECIFICALLY her damn sister. You know? The one who SWORE TO PROTECT HER AT ALL COSTS???

Absolutely agree that someone should help Ruby. Kinda weird how the whole volume is pointing to it and then they go the lone wolf route in the end.
I myself am on the Jaune train on this one. I mean we can't forget their time as RNJR. Ruby and Jaune have been partners longer than RWBY was a team when you think about it.

I think Little will end up being the one to help her, with a little extra help from Summer (or her memory at least). Though I will think if anyone goes after her it should be Jaune. Ascension is the only way I can see him moving forward, and it would be kinda poetic if he did after all his fighting against that process and the tree itself.
An interesting thing about Little I've always felt is that Little's personality is basically pre-trauma ruby bottled up in the form of a mouse. And not the cruel twisted false reflection that haunts her psychologically, appearing in the mystical mind-break hallucinations.
I didn't think about the 'little' red riding hood element, though. Very cheesey, totally possible.
Granted, we don't fully understand how ascension really works. Clearly, I think some shapeshifting is involved because Oz waaay back when he talked about how the girl who fell through the world was a very changed person, kinda suggested he actually saw that 'girl.' But more on point, everything in the Ever After seems to shapeshift when either changing to a new role or modifying an existing one (like the king becoming the prince).
Which suggests that IF Luis left and what was 'Alyx' stayed behind (one of the theories floating around that I find reasonably possible), Luis took Alyx's form.
Maybe the reason he did that was because the cat succeeded in possessing Alyx by breaking her mind like the ass that it is, but because doing so meant the 'identity' called 'Alyx' was unclaimed (the cat possessing people is still just the cat in a meat suit, as evident by Cat!Neo's whole...appearance), Luis was able to deny it's escape and salvage the situation by 'Ascending' as 'Alyx.'
Why the story doesn't paint the cat as the abominable monster that it is, is really hard to guess. But maybe there might be more cognitive shenanigans involved to the ascension process that got in the way of that. As characters that ascend have their minds altered to according to the 'identity' they slip into. Which further proves that the cat hasn't actually taken Neo's identity, but just the body, meaning that her identity is technically up for grabs. Granted, I don't think anyone's gonna be ascending to snag her remains...and I do think the Cat's definitely leaving.
....is the idea, anyways. May see how accurate that is tomorrow.
On Neo, though. She does have her own set of multiple-idendity shenanigans that I very much doubt the cat understands. So, it's not wholly impossible that she can save herself, in a manner of speaking. Some degree of insanity would be involved, for sure, setting aside whether it'll happen this season at all or something truly horrific happens like Little ascending as Ruby and the thing that was Ruby ascending as another role in the Ever After.
That's a spooky thing to think about.
Just going to point out here that the conversation with the blacksmith established Little as Ruby's "guide".

Given the grief trio I suspect just as Jaune was the one that provided the current Ruby respite amidst her doubts as well as double in being the one to kick off her shattering he's going to be one to provide the final piece to "rebuild her" per say. WBY will provide most of the pieces but that keystone pivotal part will come from him.
How that goes about happening I can't say because I see Jaune is being set to take Curious Neo on while the others split for Ruby.
Then again we are in Magic Land and the Tree probably has a means to have Ruby hear whatever she has to hear from Jaune as he fights.
Weiss and Jaune, three of them. if i had to choose, Jaune. Since him and Ruby have had each other since the first ep of Rwby. This should make them stronger opening up about her issue and his with Penny. It would be a waste for all that to happen on the bridge and for Jaune not to talk it through with Ruby, Weiss too since she was there. My problem is, that doesn't leave Yang much in terms of taking care of her sister, which she has done a poor job at. Maybe fighting the Cat/Neo as a way to "avenge" Ruby could satisfy that and the long awaited Yang Neo rematch people have wanted.
For Neo, i don't want her to survive this unless she STAYS as a villain. I know people want the Jwby crew to save Neo cause fans love her, but that makes no sense after what she did to Ruby of her own will unapologetically to get help from the crew, even if the cat gets lost and she survives I expect Yang to try to piece her up immediately, not save her and help her through her problems when she couldn't even help her baby sister.
If anything, if Jaune survives, i want Jaune to keep his long hair afterwards. Looks way better than his other hair.

@@moistfist1054 it was obviously just a little moment. They only use Yang to help Blake. Let's face it, Jaune is the only one who actually helps Ruby. Not Yang, not Blake, not even Weiss. Jaune is gonna save Ruby.

Jaune should, he should basically do it all and get all the credit. Like it or not, they are essentially each other’s closest and longest friend in the series. If Jaune can save anyone in this series, she has the best chance. Everyone else that’s close is either a family member or a work associate (teammate).
Ascension helping Jaune and Ruby get through the trauma that left them empty.
So I’ve been bouncing this theory around this week and the start of the theory revolves around I feel given the Summer flashes we’ve been getting, it’s possible „Summer“ will appear to Ruby and convince her to keep going instead of ascending fully. Since it seems at least based on what we’ve yet to hear the Blacksmith say that it’s a choice. Then the manifestation/illusion of Summer gives Ruby a new emblem or leads to the Blacksmith making her one. So she isn’t remade physically but instead remade as her own huntress, not one living up to the expectations set by Summer being her mother and „free“ from the burdens of the past. But instead as her own Huntress.
But we’d have to wait till tomorrow to see what happens and hopefully not be too devastated like we’ve been after the last one.
It’s so important that Team RWBY is who helps Ruby. Particularly Yang. They totally let her down and need to make up for that by protecting her.
Honestly I hate that people are saying that ruby's arc makes no sense this volume I feel like her arc was in the making for a long time.

My only idea of someone who can help her right now is the person who inspired her from day one. Summer rose not only was her mother, but her very belief in what a huntsman is. Seeing that her team and Jaune wasn’t helpful when she needed them most…then again, Ruby didn’t say anything to her team since she got there…where was I going with this?
I dont want this to happen, but my theory is Jaune is going to end up sacrificing himself to save Ruby, or save everyone. I hope this doesn't happen. Jaune is such an amazing character who has evolved and changed throughout the series more than anyone else.

The song "Inside the fire" by Disturbed would fit Jaune like a glove if he is the one who ends up saving Ruby from her eliminating her existence with the ascension.

Just speaking on a personal note, thank you for making this video and touching on the topic of isolation. Seeing Ruby suffer alone and in silence was so painful. I’ll spare the details but it was reminiscent of my personal life in recent months. Just a very, very dark time. “It’s okay to not be okay”, as the saying goes.

We saw a certain someone's battleaxe in the Blacksmith's shop. Ever since then, I've been having a pinprick of hope that she would meet Ruby at the Tree, or be projected as the Tree's voice.
I think regardless of how it's done, Ruby does need to be pulled back from the edge, though I agree that it would be a lot better if it was her friends. Having her move on from this naturally with the help of her friends and tackling these feelings head on would be a good message.
The issue with her ascending and being changed by an external force is that it creates a lot more of an icky implication by giving the show the message that suicide is a good solution to depression and trauma. The takeaway would ultimate be that the voice many people have in their head that people would be better without them and with someone else is correct. And that's a very dangerous message to put out there.
Hold on, Ruby Rose, STAY STRONG YOUNG WARIORRR!!!!! her friends will find a way to save her from all of the pain that she has been through, and I know one thing this is not over, and they are not going to lose her, not ever NEVER!!!!!

Taking what happened to the Red king in his ascension, Turing him younger and reborn as the prince I’d definitely say this is a hint to Jhon following Rwby down and coming back younger. A few memories might be lost but as the cat said in a previous ep, “the heart remembers”, so maybe Jhon will over all be the same at his core.
RWBY has been the pack mule for WBY since the start. Her legs have finally given out on her, and now its time for WBY to pick her back up and take her to the finish line. I want to see a scene where Specifically Yang pours her heart out and tells her Ruby's been what's kept them going forward throughout the lose. And that they will do the same for her.

I actually had a similar idea involving Little. That she could potentially fuse with Ruby or potentially could turn into a wolf and tie to the fairytale that way. Or both now that I think about, Little could potentially turn into a wold and fuse with Ruby, making her a parallel to both Oz and Neo.

a theory i have is that ascension is different for humans. that the past self they lose needs a place to go to. like the blacksmith might create the crazy smile ruby we see in the intro and there is a another different ruby made without the memories. and that through the next few episodes she has help to accept her past and mistakes and that both forms merge together and we get a possible new form of ruby. is my theory far reach or agree?

Crack theory: Ruby, however she does, she ascends and ends up going back to remnant returning to atlas' destroyed remains alone. Volume 10 is a split perspective volume of the never after crew and maybe the vacuo crew. Maybe qrow, robyn, and the ace ops pick up ruby.

I consider the possibility of Ruby becoming Reaper, a Dark Ruby if you will. Could be an older version of herself that can actually be a threat to some of these antagonists. I've only seen a few clips but it looks like Neo is dancing around the team single handedly.

The sad truth is that there are fewer and fewer people that Ruby can count on to help save the world. Oz is a liar, Crow was a drunk,and Ironwood is a paranoid nut job. Ruby doesn’t have the connections to gather an army to fight. But as this series progresses, that seems to be the likely outcome especially with the rest of her team to caught up “getting there feelings together”.
I think Jaune will save Ruby, but in turn gives his life to save her as a form of repentance for their earlier fight
As god awful as it is (from an in-universe perspective), I think the cat will absolutely escape, and it will work with Salem.

Let’s be honest here, they may save Ruby but she isn’t going to be “Ruby” anymore
I really don’t want Jaune to die this volume. He’s grown so much in character and I feel like his story isn’t quite finished yet. Definitely want him to get a 1 V 1 on Cinder and avenge all of his comrade’s deaths and show off his improved skills as the rusted knight. He doesn’t have to win, his demise could even be from sacrificing himself to finally end Cinder once and for all.
Ruby deteriorating notion of leadership is directly linked to her promise with Weiss in Volume 1, so I hope it's her who helps Ruby the most. Especially since Weiss hasn't really had any stand out moments this volume, she really needs a moment that doesn't revolve around her being the comedic "straight man" of the team.
I wonder if Huntresses get free Mental-Health Care and if it matches their 401k 🤣😁

My disappointment for how they actually handled her arc in episode 10 is immeasurable.
Ruby NEEDS to go home to Patch for 6 months (at least) before she jumps into vacuo. A ten minute heart to heart therapy session is NOT enough for a suicidal traumatised teenage to just go straight back onto the front lines.
