    Funny how I keep coming back to this video. The explanation is detailed, and the process is shown very clearly. I have a Catalina 25. I am going to try this method on my boat, but first with another person just in case. Thanks for putting this video on youtube.

      Consider a 6:1 block and tackle, so your Mainsheet would not work...
      Make sure your mast crutch is stabilized.
      You might need a small gin-pole since your fleet angle will be super low.
      Sounds like a fun rig.

    I have to try this on my Compac 23. I’ve got some slapping wires inside the mast. Thanks!

    great video, I've been using my trailer winch with 2 people at this point, gonna give this a try next time. With the wind here it's a little difficult from keeping the mast from going side to side a little bit tweaking the mast plate. Maybe ill do some baby stays or something.

    Nice 😃 I've always wondered how people use the sheet to lower the mast because the cam cleat kept grabbing. Never thought to bypass it like you did 🤔 Duh. I like your 2x4 crutch stabilizer ... Smart, simple, and cheap...

      How do you step and lower your mast?

      @@svbabyadalynne Much like you did but I have a helper using a free wheeling 4 to 1 pulley set. I help lift and keep things free while they pull and hold.

      If you have a helper one of you can just hold the forestay while the other is pushing up the mast. No rigging the block and tackle needed. One of my videos has it this way. Basically the one holding the forestay is there for safety...

    great process. I have a precision 23 and I think the mast might be a bit heavier than the catalina 22. so not sure I could do that single handed. I'd love to try though

    Can anyone tell me which shrouds or stays should be attached prior to stepping the mast?

    • @svbabyadalynne
      @svbabyadalynne  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Stepping the mast:
      Forward of the mast: Forestay and lower forward shrouds are disconnected.
      Next to the mast port and starboard shrouds are connected.
      Back of the mast lower back shrouds are connected.
      Backstay is connected.

    Thanks for the awesome videos! What are the two bent metal plates on the top of the bow railing for?

      Those plates are to hang the anchor on the bow pulpit.

    Sir, may I ask if the Catalina 30 can also raise the Mast like the 22 by ourselves?

    • @svbabyadalynne
      @svbabyadalynne  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is possible. However it is much safer, easier and quicker to use a crane.
      If there is no crane available I would build a scaffolding tower with a gentry and a hoisting system like a block and tackle...
      Last resort you would have to build some kind of bracket to keep the bottom of the mast kicking out on top of the cabin top. Need to rig a system to stabilize the mast. Need a lot of space, some kind of tall A-frame. The mast on the C30 is about 35 to 38 feet tall and has some weight to it. Do you have to step the mast of a C30?
