There is no caste such as OBC. OBC is a group of politically strong caste. This castes doesn't fall under the category of Schedule Castes(Dalits)and Schedule Tribes(Adivasis).
This group of castes was created by a political agenda of one of worst PM of India V.P Singh. He wanted power so he used the census data of 1931 to arbitrarily create a new group of castes who were poor for their own reasons(No discrimination) and decided to give them reservation in August 1990.Present population of OBC is 41%.
Presently Jats, Marathas, Gujjars and Patidars want reservation under OBC quota.
OBC differ from state to state. Means a community can be OBC in rajasthan but all over india this community could be a forward caste. For eg: Jats of Rajasthan are OBC for central govt. jobs but Jats of Haryana are forward cast.
So,OBC is just a term in govt books for giving reservation to their votebanks.for eg: Yadavs are upper cast people who practice discrimination against dalits but they belongs to OBC group in some states and enjoy reservation. Mulayam singh Yadav and Lalu Yadav had given benefits to this community and in return yadav had become loyal votebank of this corrupt politicians. Lalu Yadav has been convicted in corruption case but still his party RJD has most candidates in Bihar Assembly.
So we can say OBC are castes having large population who don't want to do any work and have huge political clout.
There is no credible evidence about economic and social condition of OBC. So any govt which is in power to win elections arbitrarily add a community to list of OBC and give reservation to them.

Setting up is done by friends mostly while arranged marriage is set up by parents. I personally feel arranged marriages work cause the families see the economic and social compatibility and that is important because otherwise it can lead to a lot of ego problems and fights. Also not being lucky in love doesn't make anyone a loser.

Let me state one thing, caste system was started as a very good thing in ancient India to categorise the society by their occupation, there was no discrimination of any sort and the society was very liberal and back in the old days one could even change their caste, which means they had the liberty to change their occupation and be called by another term. The caste system was initially a utopian philosophical idea to sort out the society in a better and distinguishable way. It was very late when it eventually became rigid and the upper castes started to abuse it and make thier own good out of it and that's why in today's India its possible to tell someone's caste by thier last name, just because it became rigid that the last name was an entitlement to identify a person with their caste. In today's world India is changing and I guarantee the newer generations will forget the impurities of the past to make a utopian society.

Hello guys i am from Singapore liked i said in my previous comment whether u are upper caste or lower caste dalits u are still a HUMAN BEING! How can a HUMAN BEING being LABEL brahmin or dalit?! When u are being label this shows u are not a human being but an OBJECT! I know i am not an Indian and as a Singaporean there are so much more that i really need to know about this caste system but even though i am a Singaporean i think India really need to get rid of this caste system as quickly as possible! If this caste system still exist it will continue in 20 or 30 years to come! And India will FOREVER never be at PEACE! How can u have PEACE in your country when u are fighting against each other?! The upper caste people should change their MENTALITIES towards the dalits then only u can have peace with each other. Yes i know not all upper caste people is the same there is a phrase in a bunch of grapes not all are sour! But i think those few good upper caste people should gather around set a petition go to the government and tell them that this caste system should be get rid of! Then only EVERYONE in India will be treated equally.

@Piper If there is no caste system in urban areas then why upper caste people can't accept any dalit bride or groom if they marry to any upper caste person. Why they marry within their own caste? Castiest mentality, ignorance and controlling the progress of the lower caste is the biggest reason why India is still far behind his neighbourhood countries. If this continues then surely India will not prosper in any way.

Caste System is known to everyone and truth is always bitter. I personally know someone, he is a Dalit his gf born and raised outside India but their marriage refused by girl's parents because that guy was from lower caste/dalit and she was from Bhramin caste. Not only this Silicon Valley has a Caste discrimination problem, where a lower caste person tried to hide his caste to avoid caste-based discrimination. Okay let me clear few things here.
I am a dalit from a middle class family. Historically dalits were denied land so after independence when the country progressed they had neither money nor land. Upper caste people had land which they used for businesses and industries. Dalits were also denied education so people could not move forward in social structure.
But after independence with public schools and right to education lower caste can be educated and get govt jobs through reservation. This was the way my own family moved forward in social structure. I live in urban area but still cannot disclose my caste to other people because they would treat me differently. I can imagine how lower castes can be discriminated in rural areas. Even after reaching influential positions you are treated differently. So caste discrimination is a reality in india.

@dhaval i don't know if that can be possible in india given the amount of corruption. After land reforms act when govt proposed ceiling on owned land, big landowners distributed their property within the family so technically the policy failed drastically. Few lower caste people who received land complained that the land was infertile and unfit for agriculture.
Also people can make fake document on land ownership but not of caste because no one wants to be lower caste in india.

Some people belonging to "UPPER CASTE" hates the reservation given to the lower caste people in the field of jobs and education which is written in the Constitution of India but they do not want to end this caste system. They may not realise or be ignorant about the ongoing problems which the lower caste people still have to face, rather they keep on protesting against the reservations. Here is a message to all those people- if you want to end the reservation system, first of all this sick caste system needs to go, not just from papers but from the heart and the brains of the people. Problems persist in Rural Areas which go with time and financial stability. Yes , financial stability.
Besides promoting those who don't even deserve will only push our country back . It should be provided to the one who NEEDS irrespective of caste..
There are families , Almost 3 generations taking advantage of reservation yet at the end of the day they have problems. Of course they can't help others , there own advantage would be taken then.😑

    After conversion,

    Their Economic growth improved.
In 2025, more that 10 crore Dalits are going to renounce the hell alike Hinduism and converting to Buddhism.
On 2056, on the 100th anniversary of Babasaheb's conversion, the giant event of conversion will take place in the history of the world where more than 50 crore people will renounce Hinduism and convert to Buddhism in India.
As Babasaheb Ambedkar said in Kathmandu's speech that, "Buddha's path is a slow path but it is the surest path".

@Sandeep Singh Sure. If your definition of "success" is how long they stay together. You'll have even more success if you keep your wife under lock and key like some people do.
My definition of a successful marriage is happiness of BOTH people in the relationship. And you rarely ever get that in arranged marriages.
It would be fine if the "arranged marriages" we're talking about were more like arranged matchmaking between adults, where both the men and women decide if they want to get married or find someone else. But it's not. Usually all the decision lies with the parents. Sometimes the parents are literally selling the bride.
Hence the deep problems in South Asian (and Middle Eastern) culture. You treat women like they are things to be bartered. To be appraised based on age, looks, and caste, and even horoscopes, like they were livestock.

honestly india and bangladesh have a huge huge problem with the caste system, its absolutely terrible.
So ironic that one of the big reasons people originally became Muslim in Bangladesh was because it rejected the caste system and so people from different castes were then free to intermingle and marry (before they wouldn't even talk between castes).
After the British came, it reinforced the underlying caste system again and these places haven't changed since with these specific attitudes. Its absolutely terrible and Bangladeshis should change this - the higher caste people need to support it. education and wealth is a RIGHT of the less privileged so the wealthier / upper classes are (in the Muslim context of bangladesh) are sinning to be denying them this.
Being Muslim is literally based on being entirely equal in the eyes of God except in your deeds. How can u lead a life like that if you're arrogant with ur caste in society smh

@Alex %oool There is no caste such as OBC. OBC is a group of politically strong caste. This castes doesn't fall under the category of Schedule Castes(Dalits)and Schedule Tribes(Adivasis).~

Example a warrior or soldier his duty to protect his country from any enemy, a king lead his people and make sure his country in the peace.
If people against their hierachy the society will into chaos and collapse. Example a bussinessman cannot lead the country because he not have any knowledge about political stuff.

though the system is now wrenched and has become so worst of its kind that it is useless and causing more harm than good.
but being a sanskrit learner if you read the vedic texts, caste system is not a vertical system but a horizontal one just like different departments in a school or government.
brahmins the ones who teach societies values how to live and want nothing in return, like motivational teachers, university speakers (but not like today who only do rituals and dont even know why it is done or the meanings)

kshatriyas were the protectors of law and order and kept national security.

@Bengal Sultan Haha. That's strange. To me it sounds more Hindi like. Lots of Sanskrit words, actually. To be fair, Telugu uses a lot of Sanskrit words as well. In fact, I was surprised how people names in Bangla and Telugu can be quite similar sometimes, very much rooted in Sanskrit. So, I'm fascinated that a Bengali speaker would find Marathi alien. My perception was that the word choices in Bangla and Marathi are very Sanskritic. I'm probably way off. (shrug)

    • @karthikravikanti
      @karthikravikanti 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@Bengal Sultan sure, it's not a huge similarity, but there are a few names that I would only see in Telugu or Bengali, not so much in the North, in general. Arundhati is an example that comes to mind. I can picture a Telugu woman named like that.
When I was still a child, I actually thought that the national anthem was in Telugu, because of how much Sanskrit it actually uses. Caste system is actually not a Hindu concept. There was a "Varna" system which divided the society into four major sections depending on the type of occupation and education. It was a fluid system. You could move from one to another depending upon your intellect.
This over the years became rigid and became as caste system, mainly under the British rule.
In the earlier times, everyone was provided with education irrespective of one's caste. India had more than 90% literacy.

Grow up dude. Even a coin has two sides . Do you know how many benefits the so called low castes enjoys after independence?. We have so many reservations especially for these people. Even in education , that too in medical field, if you are " upper caste" you will come under open category where anybody can fight for the seat and job and also these lower castes has separate quotosfor seats allocation and also they dont need to secure more Mark's even fir medical seat.
For eg, in our state, if OC category student need 295/300 cutoff for medical seat , these low caste people can get a seat if they have only 280 to 285 , and also they have reservation quota as well. They can come under OC category.

Pakistan doesn't have caste system. But we do have tribal system in Balochistan, in some areas in Sindh and it some areas in KPK. It is totally different. It isn't related to hierarchy in society. The fights , quarrels and even in some extreme cases deaths are due to the tribal animosity. It's not like they Don't eat together or sit together. There's no concept of untouchables. If these people have to meet at a mutual friend and at a third party place even if they've animosity between tribes, they greet each other, treat each other respectfully and eat together.
It's just in their own tribes they deal with the problems w.r.t. the federal/provincial laws or they settle animosity by setting up jirgahs (adults of several tribes who collectively give opinions and then vote on a decision). The people who Don't comply jirga orders can be taken to courts and police or the person who is not satisfied by whatever is decided by jirga simply announces that I am unsatisfied by the solution so I'll taking this problem to court.
Yes there are castes here but not like india or any untouchable like system.
But yes there could be tribal animosity, or political, or family animosity.
But perhaps I'm ignorant about our hindu brothers but as far as my non-muslim friends, with whom I studied, I never heard such a thing. I Don't think even hindus in Pakistan follow this caste system.
It's a cheap thing to do, to differentiate a person based on caste.
Yes when social hierarchy comes some people are not good, they don't behave well with poor people, like they would talk with arrogance or rudely to them( but it's regardless of caste. They'll do it even if they're the same caste) .
But the positive thing here is that no one likes, or respects those arrogant people. Those arrogant and rude people are looked down upon by the society generally. Moreover, if anyone witnesses this happening, they usually instantly stops and interrupts the rude behaviour.

High cast people always doubt capabilities of low cast people but when people from lower cast took their seats in open/Gen category they will start making fuss about it, anyones capability is not related with any cast, low cast people also has some brilliant people but Same time people with medium and low grade also get admission, Same goes with high cast they have some brilliant minds but they need to face tough competition but that doesn't mean all high cast peoples are brilliant, I'm not saying everyone is Same but people from higher cast want equality in reservation but don't believe in cast equality.

In today's world India is changing and I guarantee the newer generations will forget the impurities of the past to make a utopian society.

though the system is now wrenched and has become so worst of its kind that it is useless and causing more harm than good.
but being a sanskrit learner if you read the vedic texts, caste system is not a vertical system but a horizontal one just like different departments in a school or government.
brahmins the ones who teach societies values how to live and want nothing in return, like motivational teachers, university speakers (but not like today who only do rituals and dont even know why it is done or the meanings)
shudras(not kshudhra which is meant as low and bad) is like tertiary sector where they aid the other people just like tourism medical or transports and all,
vaishyas are the people who did farming and skill teaching that is driving, mechanics, making houses and all and
kshatriyas were the protectors of law and order and kept national security.
I know it may sound eerie but a lit of garbage has entered into hinduism and the real is forgotten whiich was glorious (of adi shankaracharya you may google his works or read geeta).there needs to be instant revival old meanings of the things written in our scriptures and not imposing of values that have become corrupted and rusted.
thanx these were just my views no hate please.
HOPE IT MAKES A DIFFERENCE OR CHANGES THE MENTALITY OF OLD UNCLES AND YOUNG AWARE SEEKERS.
