- This group of scammers send fake Paypal invoices and try to convince their (usually elderly) victims to login to their online bank whist they have remote access. And it usually ends badly for the victim.
This time around however, I managed to find out who they were and I slowly dismantled their scam.
Victim details are always blurred out, but I've also had to blur out some of the scammer details too. This is to meet with TH-cam's policies.

i believe banks usually place restrictions on certain amount of transfer..
i dont think he could ve gotten 100k. probably around 2k before the bank "raises an eyebrow" as scammers would say lol

Yeah the scammers not going to go for a crazy amount. It will draw attention from the bank. Small transfers of a couple grand will go unnoticed until its too late.

I have done this in real life where some tourists obviously were getting scammed and lured. But what he does takes a whole new level of dedication and can only be admired. I really hope more countries would make his work legal and support the white hats (maybe with some sort of policing license).

I’m a computer repair technician, and it’s upsetting how many computers we get after people realize they fell for a remote in scam :(
so, apart from uninstalling the remote access software, are there any more complicated things that is required to secure the computer?
@@prac2 Depends. Running a wide array of AV scans and resetting any important passwords is a good place to start. But honestly, nothing beats just reinstalling a fresh copy of Windows.

I wish I could learn this. The amount of people that can be helped is insane. Hell, I would even join a force that’s dedicated to stopping these scams just because of the magnitude of how many people are scammed every day.

My demented grandfather was scammed out of thousands of euros not too long before he died and sadly no one could help him back then. All I want to say is thank you from the bottom of my heart for what you do. These kinds of people always know to target the weakest of them all and it absolutely disgusts me.

My now widowed grandmother has severe Alzheimers, my grandfather was the last person she would recognize (she doesn't even remember her 3 daughters) thus she has to be in 24hr care. It angers me so much that those scammers took so much of the money that needs to go into my grandmothers care now. There is so many devastating consequences for the victims of such scams.

its like a movie... but that old lady cut the scammer off instantly. i give her a ton of credit... much younger victims acted way more scattered brained in similar situations in other videos.

I love how you never confirm it's you or that someone is there when the scammers start going nuts with certainty that someone is messing with them. That's just the best part for me. It's easy and probably even somewhat enjoyable to react in that scenario but it's smart because that will drive them way crazier than anything. To speak is to give them some satisfaction that they may know what the issue is. Just leaving the scammer lost in uncertainty really has some allure

Saved my dad thousands. They buy online games from China as well to launder the money once transfered from your account. TD Canada Trust is now onto them and investigation with the help of Indian Authorities and the RCMP. China is no damn help whatsoever almost like their in on it.

The way the scammer just went "hello" and the other ppl were talking was perfect made me laugh so much
these scammers are absolutely disgusting. I was scammed last year by some guy who wanted me to pay him in gift cards & PayPal. he manipulated me into believing stories he’d tell me and then would threaten me if I said I couldn’t afford to send more money to him.

Sadly, despite the growing amount of "good guys" the hackers are winning, with rare legal penalties of any weight. Most are back to work despite deliberately encouraging folks -- often elderly and well educated Americans and Europeans -- as trained mules to launder $$ often out of fear. It's probably more complicated than that seeing as how these scammers are not US citizens and the relative harm they cause is probably not much compared to other things the FBI has to deal with. IDK, just a thought.

Well Jim very efficiently shuts down operations but that might not always scare scanmers off enough to prevent them from opening up a new call center. Scam baiters who waste scammers' time frustrate them, ridicule them in front of millions, speak to their conscience which all together might actually make some scammers reevaluate and quit. Plus it is really entertaining to watch and learn what to look out for. I think we need both types of scam hunters, they complement each other.

He needs complete anonymity to do this that he does. Having a team is not as secure as him doing it himself. Also, Jim has a LOT of power by accessing others computers and getting social security numbers, credit cards, etc. He would not trust just anyone with that information.
Know this. Jim Browning is the ONLY person who is smart, noble and honorable enough to do this sort of work.
I am currently doing a degree in cyber security and I am hoping that one day I can join the fight with Jim against these criminals in the online world

IKR, I just got disgusted when I saw the average age of the people who were scammed as well. Those people think something is wrong and look for help from the people offering it just to get scammed when there was actually nothing wrong! I wonder how those scammers sleep at night.

I'm not sure if you're familiar with that phrase "I know a few things" or not but it means that the person using it knows a lot about whatever topic it is. It doesn't literally mean few.
