Hi folks, this is the long awaited collaboration with Mark Rober!
Money mules collect cash on behalf of scammers, keep some for themselves and pass the money on. But who are they and how do the avoid being caught? We find out using Mark's glitter bomb 3.0 and a bit of digging on the scammers' computers.

Jim just taken their tactic and used it on them. He appeal to their greed.
He - quite brilliantly - manipulated them emotionally, the same way they manipulate victims.
Is there a better channel on TH-cam than this ? Is there a better program currently in any media, that's anything CLOSE to this ? I feel very lucky that I live in a world where I can watch Jim Browning's videos. They're unmatched.
The funniest thing was when they acted like he was their hero when they found out they were the ones that got scammed.
I've heard that the ones working for scammers don't really like the whole thing, but they have no other option.

4:03 A good private investigator is as good as a good lawyer. Good ones will work very hard on your behalf. Many of them work with, or on behalf of attorneys, and, many have a huge amount of legal knowledge too.
Most people wouldn't know what to say to the FedEx guy for instance to intercept that package (or, I know I wouldn't), but the PI was there, on hand, and ready to ensure the 12 grand wasn't given to scammers, and, was returned back to the victim.
Brilliant stuff and very smart to get a private investigator involved.

I have difficulty believing this. In fact once they found out you had scammed them there is an excellent chance that any further information from the scammer was completely and 100% bogus in an effort to mislead you from their operations and intentions.

Imagine, finally an end soon to the infinite Amazon shit calls that keep calling me different names and getting info wrong.....the best part about them, is I've never once made an amazon account.
I kinda felt bad for the guy in the glitter-bomb clip at 5:05 , turns out he was just a dude renting out Air BnB rooms and not part of the scam.
Gary could be genuine. Or could be in cahoots with the scammers or just facilitating their enterprise by renting his rooms in tiny time increments.
Knowing that he was entertaining criminals it would have been wise to harvest his financial records for the 'paper' trail. Maybe he was being paid in cash, which is perfectly legal.
I'm being cynical - but he didn't appear to have an issue with opening that parcel that wasn't his. It just adds to my suspicions that Gary might not be 100% legit.
But there's no proof of any criminal activity because of his plausible deniability.

@@bpow1983 Notice the mule was waiting outside the air bnb for the package that didn't show up the day they expected it. So when the package did show up, she wasn't there and it was addressed to the Air BnB itself so the houseowner naturally opened it would be my guess.
That gives them a way to hide the fact that they are involved themselves so any flack goes to the air bnb owner.
Was the package addressed to the person who opened it?
Anyone who would open a package that is not theirs deserves what they get. screw him.

Lmfao I too always have BrokeAF(irewall) installed on my accounts. And in all seriousness, I’m aware of WHAT $ IS ACTUALLY IN MY ACCOUNT. It blows my mind that not only do people have to fall for the initial scam- they have to remain completely unaware of their actual account balances the entire way through being scammed. Simply refreshing the page, checking the balance on a different device, in person at the bank before withdrawing all the money, or AFTER the money is withdrawn seeing their account is now empty.. HOW DO THEY NEVER FOLLOW UP ON CHECKING THEIR ACCOUNT BALANCE ONCE outside of the manipulated screen shown by the scammer?!?

For those who haven't watched Mark Rober's video yet, the guy at 5:13 isn't a scammer or money mule. He's the guy who owns the Airbnb house that the scammers used to pick up the package. Basically he's innocent, and was very understanding about the situation.
And he was “well compensated” for being cool lol
Kinda fishy though, if the package wasn't for him, why is he opening packages that doesn't belong to him? I don't think he is working for the scammers, but it doesn't sound honest to me.

Thats a different culture, with karma and all that, so for them its your karma to be scammed its not like THEY actually do it.
Gypsies come from Punjabi area in Northern India. Gypsies are exactly the same. They respect a good scammer, it's in their culture. The better you are at scamming other people, the smarter you are and the more respected. For them smart people don't work, they take money away from dumb people who do. That's the mindset they operate in.
Jim has bragging rights for the rest of his life now. Scamming a scammer is genuinely more impressive than winning an oscar.
Scammer revolts doesn't scam them necessarily. But he does steal all of the connected computers files and syskey them. So its satisfying to watch.

The scammer was getting very emotional at around the 13:30 mark. I wonder how much of a cut he would have made from the $10,000 and if that may have played a part in making him freak out.

Watch the video where Jim tracks down the leader of one of these scams. The owner is making all the money, the people who work the phones get $300-600 a month depending on how many people they scam in a month, which is double or triple the average wage in India but just a fraction of what the scam's owner takes in.

@HOOSTY l Ripper Team Lider The problem with the term criminal is that they haven't been convicted of a crime and, to be quite fair, if local law enforcement wanted to they could make Jim a criminal for a lot of these actions (hackers and vigilantes with less popularity who go after corporations acting unethically have this happen to them all the time).
The likes of you, scammer payback and Kitboga have incredible patience. listening to the scammers lose is hilarious and whilst it's funny it's so infuriating knowing they are talking like this to vulnerable people.

I live in Canada, and I often get scammers calling me as the Canadian Revenu Agency (CRA). Since you need to be bilingual to work for the Federal Government, I ask to speak to a rep and ask them to address me in French. One guy hung up saying "Sh** the f**k up". I laughed.

Saw that on Electroboom. Always funny how they react to reasonable requests that they do not like because they of course cannot comply. Also for almost every country, if not every country something that doesn't arrive by mail is not legally binding.

Yes brother, i know how it feels like. My father has been tried many times to get scmmaed but he just tracks them instead and sends them to jail. Im proud my father is a legend maybe smaller than jim but the best doer for these horrible scammers
Edit: a scammer just contacted me 3 minutes after this message and i had pretry fun with him. I even rickrolled him when he asked me where my bank account details are lol after him saying i won a loterry of $33,333 or 25lakhs in INR

@@hop-skip-ouch8798 looking at the facebook pages of some of these scammers Jim shows, they seem pretty wealthy from what i've seen. like that one scammer who's facebook page was filled with vacation photos to the Bahamas and other places. it can be pretty lucrative especially in smaller scamming rings like this one where the expenses and employee salary wouldn't be as much since there's only a handful of guys, meaning they make a lot in profit

Its lucrative for the one RUNNING the operation but for the people working the phones they make less than 1% commission usually taking home 300$ or less a month

There is no sound on earth more glorious than an angry scammer. I've never been scammed and neither has my family but from watching these kinds of videos I have so much hatred for them that hearing them scream and get so angry is a strange combination of infuriating because of their head but also so so satisfying because they know they're losing.

Have you thought that these scammers didn't shout at you because they were really relieved? 10.000 + 100 is more than what they actually had lost (100). So yes, they invested a lot of time in you, but didn't really loose 10.000, that's why I think they were so amused and talkative.

He wasn't impressed by him. He was just trying to act all cool about it, probably because he has seen scam videos online and how scammers get worked up when they get scammed or exposed. He was trying to not come off as that. That's the least he could do to redeem himself lol. He also tried to play the victim card by say "you took my $100". All he was trying to do is make Jim either feel bad or feel that he wasted his time by not giving him THE reaction expected from scammers.
Honestly that Walmart gift card probably came from someone that got told to buy a bunch of gift cards and give the codes to the scammers. So he basically gifted stolen property to a homeless shelter.
