Scammers (with heavy Indian accents while pretending to be UK police): Telling the victim to take photos of their passport, drivers license, to give them access to their computer, to give them access to their smartphone... Jim (native English speaker): Tells the victim that they are being scammed. Doesn't ask them to do anything. Clueless victim: I don't know who to trust!!!!! Seriously?
Pretty understandable, scammers use what is called "poisoning the well". They warn the victim of people who will tell them things that go against the scammers' narrative, tell them that these people are a russian hacker called 4chan or whatever, and not to trust them. Thereby they make their victims form an opinion on Jim before they even hear him, which makes his task way harder. It's a well known propaganda tool, and definitely worth looking into.

Once a scammer called me and said can you hear me, the location was from (London) most likely not and I said " who is this , who the f*CK are you " or something like that .they where so scared they hung up on me,
@Janet Holmes. I wouldn't rely on that, because they are using Americans as well. And there are American scammers that have been operating for many years before the Indians started doing. I remember a case where a man became a multimillionare, and his scam was sophisticated but he would show up to people's houses to collect the money. He would target elderly, especially women who lived alone). But eventually he was captured by law enforcement. It is too easy now to figure out people's age online, so they can specifically target elderly people.

It's amazing how the victims seem to trust someone shouting at them in an Indian accent, rather than someone warning them about a scam with a British accent.
Not even just the accent, but the notably broken English. Is the whatever UK federal agency so incompetent as to hire people who aren't even fluent in English?

@@WigglyBro The reason why his way of dealing with scammers is better than everyone else's is that he's risking a lot more; a high risk-high return type of thing. This is why he can't tell us his real name, show us his face, or tell us his method of connecting to the scammer's pc because it's probably some very deep exploit in the network system that nobody but him found out, and if this method is shown or leaked out to the public it will immediately get fixed, making him lose the ability to do this type of thing. Jim (native English speaker): Tells the victim that they are being scammed. Doesn't ask them to do anything.
Clueless victim: I don't know who to trust!!!!!
Seriously?
The Scammers put their victims under a huge pressure. an elderly person can not handle that pressure
😂😂😂
Pretty understandable, scammers use what is called "poisoning the well". They warn the victim of people who will tell them things that go against the scammers' narrative, tell them that these people are a russian hacker called 4chan or whatever, and not to trust them. Thereby they make their victims form an opinion on Jim before they even hear him, which makes his task way harder. It's a well known propaganda tool, and definitely worth looking into.

It's very frustrating seeing people blow off Jim when he's clearly trying to help
dey confused patricks at that point..
Put yourself in that persons shoes, it's gotta be really confusing. If someone called you while you're doing a random task like putting in personal info, and said you're being scammed would you believe it right away?
@@ZentaBon yeah some of these people don't understand scams. Its sad how many people still fall for these even with all the knowledge that is out there about how these people work.
In many cases, the scammers are also “clearly trying to help” from the victim’s perspective.
@@ZentaBon What do you mean "a random task like putting in personal info". If any random person asks for your personal info online or over the phone your bullshit sensors should be going off immediately. Also, putting in personal info is not just some "random task" cause its literally your money and/or identity on the line.
There is actually another type of scam, that starts by targeting people with freelance accounts and asking to buy it for 10k $ and a monthly fee of 1000$. Almost happend to me, but when "she" asked for anydesk it was a game over.
Replying and liking this comment in the hope that more people will see it.
They're everywhere these days its crazy, even TH-cam is full of scammers
Wdym by any desk and what's a free lance account
@@putent9623 i think anydesk is the software used so that the scammers can see your screen..
@@putent9623 yeah anydesk is like team viewer, lets someone remote access your computer, a freelance account could be something like a TH-cam channel or a blog/website that's starting to get some traction and then someone offers to buy it.
You are a true legend, Jim! I always share these kinds of scams with my elderly parents. Cheers!🎉
Imagine if its actually Kitboga on the other end of the phone call.
lmao, possible possible
i wanna see that one day, i would shit my pants
I hope Jim & Kit does a collab one day
Recently dealt with scammers who run a website called standard parcel group. They have people posting adverts for animal sales - cats/dogs- and then the person claims they have to get the animal transported cross country and this website is what they’re using - they’ll ask for a deposit fee and then the scammers ask for additional vet bills and threaten lawsuits and penalties for “pet abandonment” if you refuse. Be wary if you’re purchasing animals!
Kitboga had a funny video on that recently.
Amazing
I looked up on the website standard parcel group and if you go to the very bottom to their address and look up the address it takes you to a currency exchange shop in the UK
69 likes, i can't ruin it
Scams using animals are the worst
I have always reacted very unfavourably when someone demands that I do something....That attitude has saved me from a lot of grief and misery
Keep that up! Being strong-willed is a great quality in situations like these.
Indeed, it has. I used to get emails from "Nigerian Princes" and "Microsoft Executives", all written in very bad English, as if they had been written by a four-year-old child. Their very bad grammar was what saved me and my money from parting ways.

Brilliant work Jim. The more people like you we can get the better. More pressure needs to be put on international government to stop scammers and investigate when evidence is presented to them. We are lucky he's with us.
Yes
I mean he's just reversing the remote access connection so you'd only be in trouble if you are scammer who uses remote access software to commit fraud. Though he might know how to brew up a trojan or some other nasty virus, so you're kinda right.
Not really, a lot of people can easily do this. Just reverse connection. Even a script kiddy can do it. Most people that have dignity won’t be scammers at least.

@@andersenzheng While I agree and do that too, one small warning: scammers often keep a record of the people who call in as "potential marks". If ever you wish to waste their time, they will sell the number to other scammers and call you back. Small risk of continued irritation there.

It's when the scammers go absolutely mental with "I TOLD YOU NOT TO DO THAT NOW I'VE TAKEN ALL YOUR MONEY" that people still do not then think it's even a little weird. Hmm
@@unexpecteditem7919 i read that quotation in my head exactly how these scammers would scream it down their microphones.
@@unexpecteditem7919 I would like to compare it to domestic abuse for a moment.
People outside, who have a completely unbias perspective on the situation, will immediately recognise "I'm hurting you for your own good" as a clear sign of abuse.
But the people on the inside who are victims of it will fall prey to the belief that it really is for their own good.
In an ideal world, people would recognise when they're being fucked with, but sadly we do not live in such a world... we live in one where those who want to take advantage know how to guilt others into believing them.
@@JimBrowning probably primarily because the victims are ignorant to these types of scams (which makes them overly trusting and susceptible)
