I enjoy these vinyl tag videos and seeing the varied responses. I've been binging them for several days now. I've put mine up this morning as well. Thanks for the mention! It was wonderful to discover your channel several months back. And I've been tuning in when possible. I think compilations and greatest hits are a great way to enjoy the Soul music genre being that it was such a single driven genre. Last year I made it a point to explore more soul and funk. I'm not familiar with The Dramatics so I'll look into that as I know just about everything STAX put out is great. I liked your way of how you chose the 7" records to show. That's a real nice selection of albums that included 7"s. I can only think of two albums in my collection that came with a single along with it. Very strong finish to the video with Roxy Music, Brian Eno, and Kraftwerk. I enjoyed your response. Best wishes to you in 2024!

Nice 2 C u back Brian. I just booked a va-k for Tulum Mexico coming up. We have never been to the east coast of Mexico so should be new and exciting. U r only a light brown, I would have thought with your absence of pigmentation u would be bright red lol 😅. SPF 65 must do the trick. Fun vid as usual and as always I am just a little jealous. Also every 1 of these video tags I watch makes me sad as I am reminded of losing my large box of 7inch vinyl. At some point in a move over 2 decades ago I lost my collection of 45’s, most all were picture sleeves I bought in the mid 80’s working part time in a record store. Had a wonderful assortment of highly regarded collectors songs but now I just have this double box set of Elvis 7 inch records. Oh well…. Great job and until next time.
It was actually SPF 50, so you were very close. We almost chose Tulum, but ended up a bit further up the coast, towards Cancun. Losing all of those records sucks. That's rough. I lost a few LPs in residence, but nothing that was irreplaceable.

I admit, Tron was a strange addition, but it's not bad. I think it is too late for us lesser VC members to start a spreadsheet. If only I had thought about it years ago... At one time -- and this was way before Discogs -- I had a spreadsheet inventory of all of my records and CDs. So, I was ahead of the curve on some things.

Great response to this year's tag. I never knew the original version of Berlin was on the first Reed record. Interesting. Love Bites looks great: I've only heard one song from that one (the one you mentioned.) That was a cool way to show the 7" records. I think I have separated any records that came that way into separate 45 storage. Glad you had fun in Mexico - rock on Brian!

Hi Brian. I'm glad you've had a lovely break. I've been here in rain-sodden UK the whole time, and I'm still way behind in watching vinyl tag videos. It has really taken off this year. I'm enjoying the diversity of the responses ... I'd always assumed the Joe Strummer Acton Town Hall performance was poor quality sound. By the time I realised how good it is, it was too late to get a copy. It's a stunning gate-fold sleeve too ... What a difference a good producer makes. Lou Reed's debut feels very flat. 'Transformer' is a classic, in no small part due to the contributions of Mick Ronson ... A lot of people love Cyndi Lauper and Def Leopard ... I was right - Leonard Cohen has the seat at the head of the table for your dinner party. I suspect Leonard Cohen will be disappointed there are no ladies present for him to charm ... Shane MacGowan's funeral was so moving. The musical performances were wonderful. 'A Rainy Night In Soho' gets me every time; that line "you're the measure of my dreams". All the best for 2024, Carl
After I mentioned Cyndi Lauper and Def Leppard, I realized that some people might truly like them! Whoops. Oh well. I didn't see all of the Shane's funeral, but I did watch the clip of Nick Cave and, wow, that was a truly awesome performance.
Nice entry Brian! I spotted two common records for us in this video: Autobahn and Taking Tiger Mountain. I am more of an ambient Eno guy though, and must admit I am not too familiar with Taking Tiger Mountain. I have embarisngly little Canadian music, but did pick up Crown Lands (much Rush inspired) and Miriodor in the last year or so. I need a Cohen album.The stitch with Ben Rankin was fun. HP, I'd prefer to have a backlog of videos to watch because I've been on a great holiday than be up to date watching videos and not having a holiday. Swings & roundabouts. Welcome back from Mexico, thanks for bringing the snow back with you, not just in Ontario but up here in the greater & whiter north (finally). Too bad that you can't be outside up here for more that 2 minutes without turning into a popsicle. Yes I have heard the Buzzcocks and like them enough to have a few things by them at least digitally, but woefully, not physically. In my opinion, the best thing that they have been including in a record "package", and that is an accompanying 7" record...I love that. Of course, you got some great ones I wouldn't mind picking up. I'm a fan of Lloyd Cole, but I haven't heard that one...looks like I have some homework. The Bends is an excellent album, but I still love OK Computer best....but it is close. Knowing my luck, I would walk into that Roxy Music cover, but it would be the censored version after everyone left the picture 🙁 Great responses!

Good to see the Buzzcocks. I have never seen that Stranglers cover shown before. Gutted to have missed the list but you recovered well with Soul Mining. A record I bought when it came out and have two copies. That Roxy cover is a good one to walk into but I'm sticking with Siouxsie, I couldn't be unfaithful to her. Cheers 👍
In all honestly, I had you channel name on my list, but I stopped reading. Also, I couldn't recall when I first encountered your channel. Such is the state of my brain. Siouxsie looked divine in so many photos. That was an excellent choice.
Great stuff. I have that Eno album, but I've played it so seldom I couldn't even name a track. Going to dig it out. It's the same with 'Before and After Science' 🤷🏻♂️ Unlike 'BITUSA', which I played so often it's now barely listenable to me. Crazy, I know, because it's rightly considered a classic. As for the party, I get Leonard Cohen as a guest, but I think I'd prefer a one-to-one to better tap into his wisdom and life story. Morrissey would, nevertheless, be a hoot with Lenny and Bob. 😂
I played BITUSA way too frequently when it came out, and I had the same reaction. I went something like 25 years before I could listen to it again. Yes, Morrissey could be a fun additional, but he might cancel at the last minute!

I admit, Tron was a strange addition, but it's not bad. I think it is too late for us lesser VC members to start a spreadsheet. If only I had thought about it years ago... At one time -- and this was way before Discogs -- I had a spreadsheet inventory of all of my records and CDs. So, I was ahead of the curve on some things.

Great response to this year's tag. I never knew the original version of Berlin was on the first Reed record. Interesting. Love Bites looks great: I've only heard one song from that one (the one you mentioned.) That was a cool way to show the 7" records. I think I have separated any records that came that way into separate 45 storage. Glad you had fun in Mexico - rock on Brian!
Mexico was really awesome, but the return was shocking: too much snow and it was many degrees cooler! I am already looking forward to summer!

Hi Brian. I'm glad you've had a lovely break. I've been here in rain-sodden UK the whole time, and I'm still way behind in watching vinyl tag videos. It has really taken off this year. I'm enjoying the diversity of the responses ... I'd always assumed the Joe Strummer Acton Town Hall performance was poor quality sound. By the time I realised how good it is, it was too late to get a copy. It's a stunning gate-fold sleeve too ... What a difference a good producer makes. Lou Reed's debut feels very flat. 'Transformer' is a classic, in no small part due to the contributions of Mick Ronson ... A lot of people love Cyndi Lauper and Def Leopard ... I was right - Leonard Cohen has the seat at the head of the table for your dinner party. I suspect Leonard Cohen will be disappointed there are no ladies present for him to charm ... Shane MacGowan's funeral was so moving. The musical performances were wonderful. 'A Rainy Night In Soho' gets me every time; that line "you're the measure of my dreams". All the best for 2024, Carl
After I mentioned Cyndi Lauper and Def Leppard, I realized that some people might truly like them! Whoops. Oh well. I didn't see all of the Shane's funeral, but I did watch the clip of Nick Cave and, wow, that was a truly awesome performance.
Nice entry Brian! I spotted two common records for us in this video: Autobahn and Taking Tiger Mountain. I am more of an ambient Eno guy though, and must admit I am not too familiar with Taking Tiger Mountain. I have embarisngly little Canadian music, but did pick up Crown Lands (much Rush inspired) and Miriodor in the last year or so. I need a Cohen album.The stitch with Ben Rankin was fun. Welcome back from Mexico, thanks for bringing the snow back with you, not just in Ontario but up here in the greater & whiter north (finally). Too bad that you can't be outside up here for more that 2 minutes without turning into a popsicle. Yes I have heard the Buzzcocks and like them enough to have a few things by them at least digitally, but woefully, not physically. In my opinion, the best thing that they have been including in a record "package", and that is an accompanying 7" record...I love that. Of course, you got some great ones I wouldn't mind picking up. I'm a fan of Lloyd Cole, but I haven't heard that one...looks like I have some homework. The Bends is an excellent album, but I still love OK Computer best....but it is close. Knowing my luck, I would walk into that Roxy Music cover, but it would be the censored version after everyone left the picture 🙁 Great responses!
Hi Mike - I tried to being back as much sun as I could fit in my suitcase, but I guess it was not enough. Sorry about that. I will attempt to do better next time. I think I would pay to see you in the censored Roxy Music cover, as long as you were fully dressed. Maybe someone with good Photoshop skills could make that happen!

I remember that 🙂 Taking Tiger Mountain is fabulous. I especially love his first four "rock" records.

Good to see the Buzzcocks. I have never seen that Stranglers cover shown before. Gutted to have missed the list but you recovered well with Soul Mining. A record I bought when it came out and have two copies. That Roxy cover is a good one to walk into but I'm sticking with Siouxsie, I couldn't be unfaithful to her. Cheers 👍

Great stuff. I have that Eno album, but I've played it so seldom I couldn't even name a track. Going to dig it out. It's the same with 'Before and After Science' 🤷🏻♂️ Unlike 'BITUSA', which I played so often it's now barely listenable to me. Crazy, I know, because it's rightly considered a classic.
As for the party, I get Leonard Cohen as a guest, but I think I'd prefer a one-to-one to better tap into his wisdom and life story. Morrissey would, nevertheless, be a hoot with Lenny and Bob. 😂
I played BITUSA way too frequently when it came out, and I had the same reaction. I went something like 25 years before I could listen to it again. Yes, Morrissey could be a fun additional, but he might cancel at the last minute!
